2. Indiana Brain Drain. 46.6% of recent college graduates leave the state annually. Only 28% of Indiana’s workers in the prime age work group of 25-34 have college degrees. This compares to 39% nationally. By 2025 60% of Indiana’s workforce will have to hold college degrees for the Indiana economy to stay productive.
3. ECIP GOAL. Reverse the Indiana Brain Drain by: Increasing Internship Opportunities in Indiana Connect students with Community Service, IWU Alumni Mentors, and local church internship + community connection to Indiana = Increased Graduate Retention
5. work. We help students find internships working alongside experts in their field and get a glimpse of professional life. We are seeking Employer Partners to accept these high achieving students into their internship programs.
6. learn. Students learn from an IWU alumnus mentor who is currently living and succeeding in Indiana. They get insider advice about their career field from someone who has first-hand experience.
7. grow. Students grow in their faith. We help them find a church within their internship community where they can attend and worship during the summer.
8. serve. Students serve in a local outreach organization. Through our community connections, we help them discover a place to serve that is both meaningful to them and utilizes their unique gifts.
9. achieve. Students receive two free credits in a 300-level course. As an incentive to join the program, IWU has agreed to award these credits at no cost.
