t’s said that it is very hard to get money
out of an Amdavadi. But that does not
seem to be the case any more if we con-
sider cases of cheating available from
police stations across the city. In the past
five months, Amdavadis have lost more
than Rs 8 lakh daily on an average to fraud-
sters. In the past 150 days, 90 cases of cheat-
ing and breach of trust have been recorded
at city police stations. In January, 19 cases of
cheating were registered in the city, in
February the number was 12, 22 in March,
17 in April and 20 cases were recorded till
May 23. The loss to Amdavadis:
Rs 12,47,56,000.
One of the main reasons is the greed to
make a fast buck. Promise of huge returns on
investments, job offer in return for money,
promise of college admission, lure of huge
prize money, raising the credit card limit and
assurance to get a visa are some of the ways
in which fraudsters have cheated people of
crores of rupees.
EK KA TEEN SCHEME
Zahir Rana fooled people to the tune of
crores of rupees through Remo Marketing in
2003. He was jailed for it and thereafter
came out and started a new company,
Dorado Marketing Private Limited. Rana
through his fraudulent schemes again lured
people to invest in products that would be
displayed at different malls, besides land
which would fetch them 15-20 per cent
returns. Subsequently, frauds by Ashok
Jadeja, Abhay Gandhi, Imtiaz Saiyed, Wasim
Saiyed and the latest involving the Thakkar
brothers, Rajesh and Dinesh of Balaram
Resorts, have come to light.
Juhapura-based Irfan Arab who had
invested around Rs 1.5 lakh in Rana’s
schemes lost his money and sleep over it.
Finally, he filed an application with the
police commissioner against Rana. Arab said,
“Rana convinced me and

umerous studies show that
humans are social creatures
and too much isolation can
have a negative effect on men-
tal and physical health. To help lone-
ly elders socialise, a novel adult day
care centre is being set up at Jeevan
Sandhya Smruti, an old age home
located on Bhagwat Vidyapeeth
campus.
The centre is for senior citizens
who get bored because their family
members are working or busy else-
where throughout the day. “Families
have become very busy. We invite
elders, who feel left out, to come here
and spend time with us,” said
Kalpana Gandhi, co-ordinator of
Jeevan Sandhya Smruti.
The centre offers activities like
singing, music, painting, knitting
and expert lectures among others to
keep the seniors occupied. “If there is
a group of senior citizens who wish
to go out for movies, we will provide
support for that as well,” says
Kalpana. The centre will be open for
outsiders from 3 pm. The organisers
are also planning a pick-up service in
future.
Pravin Sanghvi, trustee of
Mumbadevi trust that runs the old
age home, said, “Thirty years ago, we
started the old age home. Now, any
senior citizen can come in, take part
in various fun activities and enjoy
each other’s friendship.”
A
cting on the complaint filed
by former faculty of National
Institute of Design (NID)
Deepa Chalke, National
Human Rights Commission (NHRC)
has issued a notice to the institute,
seeking appropriate action in
Chalke’s alleged sexual harassment
case. The design school has also
been given a copy of Chalke’s peti-
tion.
The Commission has directed
NID Director Pradyumna Vyas to
take appropriate measures on
Chalke’s sexual harassment com-
plaint and her subsequent termina-
tion. The institute has been ordered
to submit an ‘Action Taken Report’
within four weeks.
The Commission had received a
complaint from Chalke, alleging
sexual harassment at work place and
inaction by the authorities on
March 7.
Ahmedabad Mirror, on March 3,
had reported how NID abruptly ter-
minated the service of Chalke with-
out assigning a reason.
Insiders suspect the termination,
which they term unlawful, could be
the result of a sexual harassment
complaint Chalke had filed against
the warden of the boys’ hostel on
Gandhinagar campus in November
last year.
The 38-year old single mother,
who was appointed in NID’s Apparel
Design and Merchandising
Department at Gandhinagar on
August 22, 2011, alleged in the let-
ter, ‘Since the time I have joined, I
am being subjected to discriminato-
ry practices, and my previous com-
plain has not made any difference. I
have been subjected to unfair treat-
ment’.
Demanding a fair chance, Chalke
had challenged the termination on
February 23, but Vyas rejected her
application.
According to the two-year con-
tract, her performance was to be
reviewed on completion of one year.

udience bursts into laughter
when 17-year-old Amit
Khuva, a mimic artist, takes to
stage. But little do they know
about the teenager’s medical
condition who suffers from severe
haemophilia. The brave boy, who has
just cleared his class XII exam and
aspires to be an engineer, wants to
spread awareness of the disorder.
“I was only 10-month-old when I
was detected with haemophilia. My
father tapped me on my chick and
my face swelled. My parents took me
to several doctors and hospitals but
to no avail. Finally I was taken to V S
Hospital where I was diagnosed with
this bleeding disorder,” he said.
For 38-year-old Prahar Trivedi, a
professional photographer who suf-
fers from a rare kind haemophilia, is
an inspiration to all. Trivedi delivers
motivation lectures and asks people
to take up challenges of life.
“I have a factor 10 deficiency
which is considered very rare. In
every lakh people, we find one
haemophilic and among one lakh
haemophilic, a person with my con-
dition has been found. Because of this
I constantly need blood plasma
units,” said Trivedi who has been
administered 37 blood plasma units
between March 17 and May 25.
“Red Cross offers plasma unit for
Rs 250 at a subsidised rate. However,
including other medical expenses, it
costs me Rs 450. The condition is not
curable and the treatment is very
expensive,” he said.
GUJARAT HAEMOPHILIA SOCIETY
Trivedi’s father Dilip Trivedi founded
Gujarat Haemophilia Society which
has over 659 registered patients. Of
these, 400 are in the city.
“The society has been doing its job by
helping patients get their factor at
cheaper rate. But we need the gov-
ernment help and aid to spread
awareness of it. The treatment is very
costly. A poor can’t afford it. The gov-
ernment should provide financial
help by subsidising factors,”
he added.
Dr Ashwin Patel, a haematologist
and vice-president of Gujarat
Haemophilia Society who offers hon-
orary service at the organisation, said:
“Unlike thalassaemia, there is a lack
of awareness of this medical condi-
tion among the masses. The state
government should provide facilities
and infrastructure required for the
treatment. Though Rs 2 crore was set
aside for haemophilia patients in an
earlier assembly session, the situation
has not changed much.”
People who make donation to
Gujarat Haemophilia Society get tax
rebate, the doctor said.
The government does provide free
plasma in Civil Hospital but patients
who live in far-flung areas have to
travel to big cities for blood transfu-
sion. Medical facilities for these
patients should be made available at
all district civil hospitals, he said.
“There can be minor, moderate
and severe haemophilia. Couple must
undergo medical tests before mar-
riage to avoid the occurrence of this
medical condition in their kids,” Dr
Patel said.

WHAT IS HAEMOPHILIA?
Haemophilia is a hereditary genetic
disorder that impair the body's abili-
ty to control blood clotting or coagu-
lation, which is used to stop bleed-
ing when a blood vessel is broken.
Haemophilia A (clotting factor VIII
deficiency) is the most common
form of the disorder, present in
about 1 in 5,000–10,000 male
births. Haemophilia B (factor IX defi-

Britain’s concerns
over the 2002 Gujarat riots
have come in the way of it
upgrading its engagement
with the booming state in the
near future, even as the coun-
try expands its diplomatic
network across India with new
posts in Hyderabad and
Chandigarh.
Despite such development
plans, there is no plan to
upgrade the Ahmedabad
office. It must be noted that
Britain has a large diaspora of
people of Gujarati-origin.
A foreign office spokesman
said, “Since the riots in 2002,
in light of our concerns about
human rights abuses which
took place then, we have had
no ministerial or senior offi-
cial contact with senior polit-
ical ranks of the Gujarat state
government”.
“We currently have a small
locally staffed British Trade
Office in Ahmedabad. We
keep our position with regard
to our representation in
Gujarat under careful review,”
the spokesman added.
The expansion of two posts
will take the number of UK
posts in India to seven, mak-
ing its presence in India the
largest diplomatic network of
any country. It has posts in
Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai,
Bangalore and the high com-
mission in New Delhi. It also
has trade office in Pune.
“We have plans in time to
add further UK staff. Each
Deputy High Commissioner
will be supported by a team of
skilled locally employed staff
focusing on trade and invest-
ment, the political economy,
knowledge economy, energy
and low carbon opportuni-
ties,” the spokesman further
added.
“We want a deeper and
more sophisticated under-
standing of India and emerg-
ing powers on a range of issues
including politics, culture,
education and sports,” he
added. PTI
After a 7-km chase, two bootleggers were arrested with countrymade liquor worth Rs 32,000 near Revdi
Bazaar in Kalupur on Friday. The accused were identified as Ramol resident Imtiaz Sheikh and Khokhra resi-
dent Chirag Desai. Bapunagar PSI R J Jadeja and his team were patrolling near Approach Chowki in Bapunagar
when they tried to intercept a black Scorpio. The driver did not stop. The cops gave chase. The men stopped
near Revdi Bazaar when two of the SUV’s tyres burst. Cops found ‘potlis’ of liquor in 48 large bags. “They were
ferrying liquor from Vasad near Vadodara to Hansa, a woman bootlegger, in Madhupura,” said cops. —AM

on Friday declared
results of main exami-
nation held in September 2011
for posts of deputy mamlatdar
and section officer. The pre-
liminary exam was conducted
in June last year. Nearly 4,500
candidates had cleared the
same.
Of these, a total of 948 stu-
dents cleared the main exam.
This is the first time GPSC has
pointed out the mistakes made
by students who did not clear
the main exam. Interestingly,
today GPSC is conducting
main examination for other
vacant posts.
Tired of waiting for results
of the main exam held last
year, several candidates who
had appeared for the same are
appearing for this year’s main
exam.
According to sources, GPSC
had earlier planned to release
the results of both the main
exams together.

Even as we kept our eyes
peeled for new-momma
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan
at Cannes, we caught a slim-
mer, trimmer and healthier
Vikram Chatwal as the other
surprise Indian this year.
Chatwal, who attended the
festival last year to promote a
Mexcian film in which he did
a bit role, had a more social
agenda this time. The New
York hotelier looked pretty
much in control of his life
once again as he attended a
high-profile party with the
likes of Nicky and Paris
Hilton, guest-of-honour
Heidi Klum and Alec Baldwin
among other A-listers. But
with his new supermodel
girlfriend Angela Lindvall
by his side.
She did it. Aishwarya made her
keenly anticipated appearance at
Cannes, in an avatar that would
not give her detractors too much to
complain about. After the intense
scrutiny and relentless criticism of
her post-partum weight, the actor
made her first media call in a hotel,
looking chic and slim and dressed
in an Angelo Katsapis outfit.
While we know that most of her
appearances so far have been cour-
tesy the various brands she endorses,
this year one of them, a cosmetic
giant, has reportedly struck a rich
deal with a news daily. In fact, her
first so-called official interview has
been packaged and pitched as an
exclusive, which the brand’s market-
ing team has been fiercely guarding.
After her Angelo Katpasis appear-
ance, Mrs Bachchan went for the
much-talked Abu Jani-Sandeep
Khosla cream sari with chikankari
work and antique gold embroidery
(draped in a different way) for the
red carpet. In a bid to hide all the
flab, the Indian beauty was far too
‘undercover’!
Meanwhile, her pictures have
predictably sent her virtual world in
a tizzy: this time the debate is over
how exactly she managed to shed
the excess baggage in such a short
time. Damned if you do, damned if
you don’t?
ITDIDTURNOUTTOBE‘ROWDY’
With Rowdy Rathore’s release a week away, Amdavadis seem all set to welcome the Akshay Kumar-Sonakshi Sinha starrer
in ‘rowdy’ style. Despite tight security at the promotional event of Rowdy Rathore, fans managed to rush and glance at the
‘Khiladi’ and ‘Dabanggi’. The unruly behaviour and excitement of fans was (mis)handled by the ‘well-built’ securitymen.
Your vigilant diarist gets you this picture to give you an idea of all the rowdiness that took place at a city mall where
people, including media, were left short of being mauled. To see the stars responsible for the frenzy, turn to page 10.
After his misadventure with
social networking,
Sidhartha Mallya has
reportedly checked out of the
country for some well-recom-
mended R&R. The diarist has
learnt that Mallya Junior, who
was set to take off for the US to
pursue a career in acting post
the IPL season, is now vacation-
ing in Europe
with his
father. We
hear there is
some serious
father-son talk
on the cards,
while the
enfant terrible waits for the
storm to blow over and grapple
with the gag-order imposed by
the company. In spiritual world
they call it Vipasana.
Chicmomma
On Sunday, patrons
at a Mumbai five
star got an eyeful
and more of a dapper
Akshay Kumar
dressed in a weather-
defying all-black suit
and matching acces-
sories. The actor was in the company of a
good looking Spaniard, the two Michelin-
star chef Sergi Arola. The occasion was a
hush-hush photo shoot the two rock stars
did to promote Arola’s new restaurant at
the hotel. Arola, who is known as much
as for his passion for music as his flair for
food, is all set to launch his eponymous
restaurant here, after Barcelona and Paris.
On this hot summer day, the chef who
wears his stardom and his tattoos effort-
lessly, got along famously with Akshay,
who obviously takes his role as food
show host quite seriously.

A
hmedabad Municipal Corporation
(AMC) is privatising its civic woes
redressal system and computerising
the process. The new system will be
in place from August 15, according
to officials. Under the system, AMC would
outsource the redressal of civic problems to
private companies. These parties would get
contracts from AMC for solving problems per-
taining to drainage, water, roads, cattle men-
ace, street lights, door to dump facilities, ani-
mal carcass (skeleton) removal among others.
People would be required to lodge com-
plaints at their zonal office. They will be pro-
vided with a computer generated receipt that
would contain name of the complainant, his
address, name of the AMC official responsi-
ble and the deadline for the resolution of
issue. At present complainants are given blue,
yellow or pink receipts. The existing system
neither centralises the entire city’s complaint
records nor does it put them completely into
computer making them not readily accessi-
ble. A system similar to MIS exists even now
but only for the monsoon months. The MIS
was implemented primarily in response to the
failure of Jan Suvidha Scheme that was
launched in South, West and New West Zones
of city. The scheme was meant to have fast-
tracked the resolution of civic problems, how-
ever in practice complainants got response
very late, sources said.
“The best thing with the new MIS is that
the entire city’s record would be accessible to
me at the click of a mouse. It would be very
easy to keep track of the number of com-
plaints coming from different areas of city.
Besides, those officers who are not perform-
ing and solving the problems till the deadline
will be questioned and asked for the reasons
for delay. This would ensure efficiency and
serve people’s interests,” said Municipal
Commissioner Guruprasad Mohapatra.

CREDIT CARD FRAUD
The arrest of Vishal Sharma, a
member of a Delhi-based gang
that specialised in credit card
fraud uncovered this latest
method of cheating people. As
per their modus operandi, a
member disguised as a bank
executive would come to a per-
son’s house saying that the
bank has raised his/her credit
limit. They would then cut their
credit card into two before their
own eyes, saying that a new
card would be delivered at their
place. They would then take
away the card pieces, mend it
and withdraw money from the
person’s account.

TRIO WHO CHEATED TRADERS ARRESTED
Three members of a gang that operated in different districts and
cheated businessman to the tune of lakhs of rupees were arrested
on Thursday night by Vastrapur police. Three more members —
Bharat Patel, Chetan and Sunil — are at large. Around 25 cases of
fraud across the state have been detected.
The gang took godowns on rent and then disguised as businessmen
they would approach wholesale dealers of rice, wheat, tobacco,
betelnut etc. They would give a bulk order and get the stock deliv-
ered at the godown. After hoodwinking the driver, they would then
escape with the booty.
On May 17, last year, Yash Kothari of Ms Kothari & Company in Mad-
hupura market received a call for delivery of 910 kilo of betelnut
costing Rs 1.48 lakh at a godown in Thaltej. With the promise that
the entire amount would be handed over on delivery, a truck-full of
stock was sent. The stock was unloaded in the presence of a 19-
year-old boy. The boy then took the driver a little distance away from
the godown, telling him that the buyer would come a while with the
money. He then left to get tea for the driver. When the boy did not
turn up for quite some time, the driver went to the godown only to
realise that the stock had vanished.
Kothari filed a complaint with Vastrapur police. Investigations re-
vealed that the godown was taken on rent. The police kept a watch
on the landline number from where Kothari was called. They traced
a mobile number that regularly called on that number and zeroed in
on Amin alias Kalubhai Ramchandani, 30, resident of Harshnagar,
Patan. He led the police to two other members, Bipin Thakkar and
his son, Hardik, 19, also from Patan.
Amin used to send Bipin to different businessmen and bring back
visiting cards after inquiring with them. Amin would then call the
dealer and place a huge order, which they would be asked to deliver
at a rented godown. They would then escape with the stock and sell
it to someone at a lower price. The gang members have defrauded
traders in Rajkot, Modasa, Deesa, Vijapur, Surat and Ahmedabad.
Police have recovered 520 kilo of betelnut that was stolen from
Kothari. On hearing the news of the arrest, traders who were cheat-
ed by the members gathered at Vastrapur police station. AM
Vastrapur police arrested Bharat Patel, Chetan and Sunil of Patan

A
n NIFT, Gandhinagar graduate
has designed an electronic trol-
ley which promises to not only
make shopping trips fun but
also increase sales for retailers. Vinay
Prajapati (28), who recently complet-
ed his masters in fashion technology,
has designed a trolley equipped with
wireless and radio frequency identifi-
cation (RFID) technologies, which can
automatically detect, receive, save and
transmit product information to com-
plete the billing process. This is aimed
at enhancing customer satisfaction by
reducing time consumption and also
cutting cost of services and inventory
management at the billing counter.
“The inspiration for this trolley
came from my own shopping experi-
ence. No customer enjoys standing in
a queue to get the billing done. It is
sheer waste of time. The RFID trolley
helps in fast shopping and checkout.
The trolley automatically calculates
the worth of the good inside it, thus
minimising the time at the billing
counter. It also has a navigator, which
will guide the customers to different
sections of the store. This will help
attracting customers to that particular
store and help the retailers in increas-
ing footfalls,” said Prajapati. The trol-
ley will also help the retailers to track
the buying behaviour of customers.
Prajapati’s research concentrates
on automation of retail process that
involves customers. He said, “One can
save on man power required to man-
age a retail store if RFID is imple-
mented at item level. More over RFID
can automate and reduce human
errors at payment counters. It makes
the process efficient.”
“If all goes fine I will make
advancements in present proposal
and instal prototype in an apparel or
fashion accessories outlet and record
customers’ review. It will help me
prove that time is indeed money,”
Prajapati added.

Bharatiya Janata Party
leaders LK Advani and Sushma
Swaraj did not attend the key party
rally in Mumbai on Friday evening
due to prior engagements, party
leaders said, denying that their
absence was due to any discontent.
The party said the absence of the
two leaders was known much earli-
er. It also showed an invite of the
rally, which did not mention
Advani’s name.
“Advani’s schedule was fixed ear-
lier so he is not there and Sushma
Swaraj has to attend a programme
in Ghaziabad on Saturday morn-
ing,” said party spokesperson
Nirmala Sitharaman.
Asked if both the leaders decided
not to attend the rally as they were
unhappy with the change in the
party constitution that would allow
a second term to party president
Nitin Gadkari, Sitharaman said:
“There has been no discontent over
the party resolution and he (Advani)
is fully with us... it (any discontent)
is all in the minds of the people.”
Another party leader said: “It was
known since long that we will pass
an amendment to the constitution,
and it is not for any particular
leader. It will benefit all presidents
at state and district level as well.
Why would there be a sudden dis-
content over something that is
known for so long?”
Party sources added that Advani
was not well and suffering from a
throat infection. He had, however,
addressed the valedictory function
of the meet before leaving.
Sushma Swaraj also denied spec-
ulation that there was a rift among
party leaders.
“I respect and honour all deci-
sions of the party. Please do not
draw any other conclusions. I must
reach Delhi tonight (Friday night)
because I have to leave early morn-
ing for an important function in UP
tomorrow (Saturday). I cannot
attend tomorrow’s (Saturday) func-
tions unless I take an early flight to
Delhi,” she posted on micro-blog-
ging site Twitter.
SENIOR LEADERS UNHAPPY
WITH NITIN GADKARI
The clarifications came after specu-
lations of serious cracks in the top
leadership did the rounds. Advani’s
non-unavailability was seen as his
unhappiness with Gadkari getting
the unprecedented second consecu-
tive three-year term.
Gadkari’s term will now end in
2015 which means that the party
will go to the 2014 Lok Sabha elec-
tion under him, undermining
Advani’s role. Advani, many believe,
has not yet ruled himself out as the
prime ministerial candidate for BJP.
Incidentally, many senior leaders
wanted change in presidentship
after the patry’s poor show in the
five state assembly elections. BJP
had performed badly in UP and
Punjab where its seat count went
down and lost power in
Uttarakhand. Goa provided the sil-
ver lining where it defeated
Congress.
Gadkari’s decision to bring Uma
Bharati from Madhya Pradesh to
lead the party in UP did not pay
off. Besides, reinducting former
party general secretary Sanjay Joshi
and putting him in charge of polls
did not go well with his adversary
Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra
Modi. AGENCIES

MODI MAY BE IN BJP PARLIAMENTARY BOARD
The new-found bon homie between Nitin Gadkari and Narendra Modi could see
the Gujarat chief minister getting into the party’s Parliamentary Board soon.
Indications are that Gadkari could induct Modi into the powerful organ of the par-
ty following the recent coming together of the two that seems to have upset quite
a few equations. Asked whether any party chief minister could get into the Parlia-
mentary Board, a veiled reference to Modi, BJP spokesperson Ravishankar
Prasad said, “BJP president has discretionary powers and no one objects to it.”
Only yesterday, Gadkari is believed to have extracted the resignation of Sanjay
Joshi from the national executive at the behest of Modi. Today, Modi and Gadkari
reached the stage together at a public meeting following the national executive
here, displaying their new bonding. Gadkari had come to the venue earlier but
waited for Modi to arrive so that they could take the podium together. PTI
Sushma gave the rally a miss because she had to reach Delhi on Friday night, while Advani didn’t attend due to throat infection

T
he state board is not the one
always committing errors in
question papers. Such presti-
gious institutes like IITs could
also go wrong at times. A week
before the result of IIT-JEE exam was
announced, Vijay Pratima Mittal, a
chemistry teacher running a private
coaching centre in Rajasthan, had
made representations with regards to
error in the answer key of chemistry
paper. It has been more than 15 days
but she has not received any reply.
Dr Mittal wrote to the special sec-
retary, technical education in the
Ministry of HRD and the organising
chairman of IIT-JEE drawing their
attention to the error in the answer
key. Dr Mittal claims, “The answer
key of JEE 2012 was published on
May 7 on the website of IITs. I
observed a mistake in the answer of
question 28 in paper 2, section II
(chemistry). Option (A) has been
shown as the correct answer which
is wrong. The correct answer is
option (B).”
5.25 LAKH STUDENTS AFFECTED
Arguing that it affected 5.25 lakh stu-
dents who took IIT-JEE, she said the
answer keys should be corrected.
“Question 28 is of four marks and
due to wrong answer the merit of the
students will be greatly affected. It is
very much possible that the students
who appeared in JEE-2012 are not
taking any action about this mistake
because they believe that IIT-JEE
authorities are highly qualified and
they cannot make any mistake. They
also feel that the answers given by
the IIT-JEE must be 100 per cent cor-
rect, but the authorities had already
accepted their mistake in question
number 23 of this section and they
agreed to give bonus marks to
all students.”
An Ahmedabad-based chemistry
teacher Aalap Shah, too, is con-
vinced with the correct answer being
option B.
He said, “In the question, the nec-
essary condition for hydrolysis of
cyanide group into the acid is not
given, therefore, the nearest answer
should be B instead of A.”

It was ‘starfall’ in aapnu
Amdavad on Friday. While Akshay and
Sonakshi went ‘rowdy’, Bollywood
actor Vivek Oberoi was also spotted in
the city for a promotional event.
After a big tussle among fans at a city mall on Friday, people were able to get
a glimpse of khiladi-turned-rowdy Akshay Kumar and hischhammak chhallo Sonakshi Sinha
who were in aapnu Amdavad to promote their next, Rowdy Rathore. The soon-to-be-released
film has Akshay Kumar ‘back in action’. When asked why the film is a must-watch, the actor said,
“Everyone has a ‘rowdy’ side to them and there is everything — action, romance, comedy and
lots of masti.” Dabangg-girl Sonakshi, dressed in a parrot greensari (she was in character!)
seemed confident throughout and declined any plans to lose weight as she believes in staying
fit. The couple displayed sparkling chemistry and kept the audience in splits with their funny
one-liners. The film, directed by Prabhu Deva and produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, has
Khiladi Kumar in a double role. The film is a remake of Telugu-film Vikramarkudu. The actors
also entertained fans with the famous chinta-ta-chita-chita step from their film.

It was a powerpacked start to the 11-day
fair, Vacation 2012, with a grand dance show, Dhinchak
Dhishum, which had some energetic performances by
children. Besides dance, the event also had children
dressed as politicians waving the Indian flag at the Gujarat
University Ground on Friday evening. There were play
performances and traditional music that welcomed visitors.
A city-based dance academy held a performing arts workshop at Natarani for children on
Thursday. The event saw participants involved in dance-drama performances with a special message for the society.

FINALLY,INDIALAUGHLAST
After a thrilling win
against South Korea,
courtesy a last-
minute goal by SK
Uthappa, it was diffi-
cult for India hockey
coach Michael Nobbs
to hide his excitement. India edged past
Korea 2-1 in the Azlan Shah tourna-
ment, having suffered a 1-5 defeat
against New Zealand earlier.
“I’m obviously delighted with the re-
sult. The victory from a last-minute goal
made my heart’s pacemaker began
functioning again,” said Nobbs.
“We made a silly error to concede
the penalty corner that gave the
equaliser to South Korea. That was part
of the mistakes we committed in the
second half,” he added.
The Australian was not happy with
the way his wards played in the second-
half but said the win was good gift for
him. “We played according to plan in
the first half, but in the second half we
did not play as we wanted to. We did not
stick out our plan in the second ses-
sion, but did well in patches,” he said.
“I was really angry at the mistake
that gave away the equaliser. But the
last-minute goal was a nice present.”
On Thursday, the coach had ripped
into his squad over its pummelling by
New Zealand, saying much work re-
mained before the former power was
ready for the London Games.
Nobbs had especially harsh words
for his defence, calling it “awful” for
leaking what he called easy goals by
the Black Sticks on the first day of the
Malaysian tournament.
“We were really bad at the back.
Everything we talked about and prac-
tised in training was forgotten,” Nobbs
told reporters in the northern
Malaysian city of Ipoh, site of the annu-
al hockey tournament.
The seven-team tournament which
also includes Great Britain, Pakistan,
Argentina, South Korea and Malaysia is
an important last chance for teams to
tune up and hone line-ups before the
Olympics in July.
India dominated Olympic hockey
from the 1920s to the 1950s. A recent
run of good form has raised hopes of a
strong result in London, with much of
the credit going to Nobbs.
But Nobbs said the team went back
to “our old style of play” against the Ki-
wis, accusing defenders of letting their
marks get away, and singling out Rupin-
der Pal Singh and V Raghunath.

K Uthappa’s last-minute
deflection off a Tushar
Khandekar diagonal cross
earned India a 2-1 victory
over South Korea in the Azlan Shah
Cup hockey, marking a rare occasion
when it was not the Indian defence
wilting in the closing stages. The
winning goal, on a move down the
left flank, was the culmination of a
counter-attack that began with the
Indian custodian Bharat Chetri
bringing off a fine save at the top of
the circle at the other end of the
pitch. Chetri had to rush out to dis-
possess Korean striker Jang Jong-
Hyun, who was sprinting in
unmarked with the Indian defend-
ers nowhere in the frame.
The brisk counter brought the
smiles back to faces of the Indian
squad, and coach Michael Nobbs
said, “It made my heart pacemaker
resume functioning after making a
silly error in conceding an equalis-
er just minutes earlier.”
The Indian defence, which held
its ground in the first session by clos-
ing out the gaps that resulted in an
embarrassing 1-5 defeat at the hands
of New Zealand just 24 hours earlier,
seemed to be giving the game away
toward the end after enjoying a lead
for most of the match.
Ace penalty corner shooter
Sandeep Singh placed a drag-flick into
the roof of the cage in the 11th minute
to give India the lead. That was the
only penalty corner earned by India in
the match, where close man-to-man
marking confined the first half’s pro-
ceedings mostly to the midfield.
With increasing urgency in their
raids, South Korea came back strong-
ly to exert pressure on the Indian
defence after the breather. Indians
had a close shave when a penalty
corner shot rebounded off the cross-
piece and once when an unmarked
Korean defender, in a rare show of
exuberance, sent a wild shot wide
when in a goal-scoring position.
The Koreans managed to draw
parity in the 66th minute with an
accurate penalty corner flick from
Nam Hyun-Woo, whose low shot
went into the goal off Manpreet
Singh’s stick.
India were clearly under pressure
for most of the second session, dur-
ing which coach Nobbs said they
failed to stick to the game-plan, but
the last gasp move, starting from
the top of the Indian circle had
them celebrating. “We’re continu-
ing to make silly errors, and one of
such mistakes conceded the penal-
ty corner that earned South Korea
the equaliser,” said Nobbs.
Earlier, some familiarity with the
Korean tactics seemed to have
helped India in narrowing down
the yawning gaps that were evident
in their previous outing.
The match also marked an
impressive return to international
hockey for half-back Gurbaj Singh,
who of late has been on the side-
lines after his impressive show in
the World Cup two years ago.
During his recent period of recu-
peration, Gurbaj missed the
Olympic Qualifiers and also the
recent four-nation tournament in
London that was a test event for
Olympic games facilities.
NEW ZEALAND SLAM FIVE MORE
New Zealand continued their goal-
scoring spree to post a runaway 5-2
victory over Pan-Amercian champi-
ons Argentina, forcing as many as
10 penalty corners in stamping
their authority.
The New Zealanders, who had
squandered several scoring chances
earlier in the game, got their act
together with three goals in the last
13 minutes of play to surge to the
top of the points table. New Zealand
have six points from two matches,
followed Pakistan with three from
one outing and India with three
from two games.
Argentina took an early lead
through a third-minute field goal by
Lucas Cammareri, who shot in after
sidestepping New Zealand goal-
keeper Kyle Pontifex.
Phil Burrows drew parity for New
Zealand in the 32nd minute on a
pass from Simon Child, and Richard
Petherick converted a penalty cor-
ner in the 44th minute to put the
Black Sticks 2-1 ahead.
Argentina was back on level in
the 53rd minute through Lucas
Vila’s rasping drive. Then came the
three-goal burst from New Zealand
as Hayward (57th minute), Shay
Neal (59th) and Arun Panchia (64th)
made entries on the score-sheet.
Argentina have lost both their
matches.
MALAYSIA HOLD BRITAIN
Two scintillating field goals in the
last three minutes of play earned
Malaysia a 3-3 draw with Great
Britain, the highest ranked team in
the tournament that turned out for
the first game.
Britain drew first blood in the
fifth minute on a field goal from
Glenn Kirkman, and Azlan Misron
draw level for Malaysia in the 10th
minute. Field goals from Ashley
Jackson (20th minute) and Rob
Moore (35th minute) put Britain 3-
1 ahead and they were heading for
a victory until Saari produced
two sparkling goals in the 67th and
68th minutes.

England dismissed West
Indies’ mainstay Shivnarine
Chanderpaul as the tourists’ collapse
continued on the first day of the sec-
ond Test at Trent Bridge here on
Friday.
The West Indies were 154 for six
at tea, with Marlon Samuels 41 not
out and captain Darren Sammy,
who’d won the toss and batted with
the ground bathed in sunny condi-
tions and blue skies overhead, unbeat-
en on 11.
Chanderpaul was lbw for the sec-
ond time in as many innings to
Graeme Swann.
Left-hander Chanderpaul, playing
back, had made 46 when Swann’s
appeal was rejected by umpire Asad
Rauf. But it was no surprise when
England captain Andrew Strauss
reviewed the decision.
Replays showed the ball would
have hit the stumps and Chanderpaul
had to go after more than two hours
at the crease featuring nine fours.

I
t was a loss that would haunt
Delhi Daredevils skipper Virender
Sehwag for a long time as
Chennai Super Kings cashed in
on their luck to reach the final of the
fifth season of Indian Premier League
in Chennai on Friday.
When a well below par Murali
Vijay smashed the tournament’s
fastest century to propel Chennai
Super Kings to an imposing 222 for
five, it was all but over for Daredevils,
a pre-tournament favourite.
While Vijay’s innings surely
deserved attention, what was surpris-
ing was the decision making of
Sehwag — not so long ago touted as
one of the replacement for Mahender
Singh Dhoni for a struggling Team
India.
While in the course of tournament
Chennai Super Kings’ skipper Dhoni
showed why he is considered the best,
Sehwag appeared to have lost it as the
tournament progressed.
In the last match, a loss against
Kolkata Knight Riders, it was his deci-
sion to hold back the experience of
Ross Taylor until it was all but over
and his decision to go with four pac-
ers came under scrutiny.
On Friday, Sehwag had the audac-
ity to drop his best fast bowler — tour-
nament’s leading wicket-taker Morne
Morkel — for Andre Russel.
While critics may point to Russel’s
all-round ability — especially
when Irfan Pathan had to sit
out due to injury — his credentials
are yet to be established.
Sehwag then left everyone bewil-
dered with his decision to hand the
ball to offie Sunny Gupta who was
playing his first IPL match this season.
The youngster was duly milked — 47
from three overs — as Chennai made
merry with the Delhi bowlers.
Vijay, who was run out on the last
ball of the innings after scoring 113,
took a mere 51 balls to reach the
magic landmark when he flicked
Varun Aaron off his pads behind
square at the M A Chidambaram
Stadium. CSK’s total was also the high-
est in this edition of the league.
While he had bludgeoned 13 fours
and four sixes before reaching the cen-
tury, Vijay found the fence two more
times following that after Daredevils
skipper Virender Sehwag invited the
hosts to bat on winning the toss.
It was never an easy chase and the
early fall of David Warner and
Sehwag, who had dropped himself in
the batting order, only made the task
difficult. Mahela Jayawardene fought
hard but Delhi fell short by 87 runs.

Roger Federer on Friday
backed six-time champion Rafael
Nadal to shatter Novak Djokovic’s
historic bid to become the first man
in 43 years to hold all four Grand
Slam titles.
World number one Djokovic
already has the Wimbledon, US
Open and Australian Open crowns
in his possession and a first French
Open triumph in two weeks’ time
would make him the first man since
Rod Laver in 1969 to complete the
sweep. But Federer believes that it is
Nadal, chasing an unprecedented
seventh Roland Garros title, who
will be making history here, and not
the Serb. “Rafa is the favourite for
me,” said Federer, the 2009 champi-
on in Paris. “I think he lost only two
sets between Rome, Monte Carlo,
and Barcelona, so that’s a pretty
good start. “Then he’s playing for his
seventh title, so no discussion. We’re
crazy to even talk about this. Some
people might say he’s not the
favourite, but to me he’s the
favourite. I know how incredible he
can be here in Roland Garros.
“As for Novak, with all his results
lately, he’s one of the big favourites.
Likewise for me with everything I
accomplished. But for me it would
be Rafa, Novak, and me in third
position.”
Of the seven men to win all the
four majors in their careers, only
Don Budge and Laver (twice) have
held all four at the same time. Since
Laver’s 1969 achievement, only Pete
Sampras, Federer and Nadal have
had opportunities to complete a
non-calendar year Grand Slam. AFP

atsmen got their act right
before the bowlers ran
through their opponents as
Rajyogi Cricket Club
marched into the final of
Rajyogi Cup Under-17 Cricket
Tournament on Friday beating Royal
Cricket Club by 187 runs.
At M G Science Institute ground,
southpaw Rushi Panchal top-scored
with a 63-ball 69 that included one six
and seven fours while opener Ajay
Vachetta slammed a 41-ball 63, with
one six and seven fours, to help
Rajyogi post a challenging 266 for
eight from 40 overs.
For Royal, Harsh Patel took five
wickets with his leg-spin.
However, Royal batsmen came a
cropper against the left-arm spin
attack of Rajyogi, with Harsh Shashti
and Sneh Shah picking up four wick-
ets each while Asav Panchal added
two more, to be bowled out for 79 in
26 overs.
Rajyogi will now wait for the win-
ners of the second semi-final between
Gujarat Cricket Institute and Sardar
Patel Institute of Sports, which will be
played today.
C
hintan Gaja scored a half-
century but it was a whirl-
wind innings from Varshil
Shah that helped Gujarat
Cricket Institute (GCI) beat Sant
Kabir School by three wickets to
reach the final of Somabhai Hadial
Under-17 Cricket Tournament on
Friday.
Electing to bat, opener Kathan
Patel and Raj Majethia stitched a
100-run partnership for the second
wicket as Sant Kabir posted 177 for
six from 30 overs.
Kathan top-scored with a 70-ball
58 that included seven boundaries
and a six while Raj scored 56 off 52
balls with eight fours for Sant Kabir.
For GCI, Deep Pipalia and Aditya
Patel took two wickets each.
It was a disappointing chase for
GCI who lost their openers by the
ninth over. Unperturbed, Chintan
took the attack to the opposition
with a 63-ball 69 that included eight
fours and a six. While Karthik Khatri
(23) made a useful contribution,
Karan Radhani brought urgency to
the innings with 11-ball 20 before
Varshil’s 10-ball 22 sealed it for GCI.
For Sant Kabir, Suraj Sekhawat
took three wickets while Kavish
Panchal added two more.
GCI will now await the winner of
the second semi-final between KCC
and SPCT that will be played today.
A
n impressive bowling per-
formance backed by some
dominating batting helped
Sahajanand CC (SCC) beat
Universal Cricket Academy (UCA)
book their final berth in Sardar Patel
Institute of Sports Under-15 Cricket
Tournament on Friday.
It was never easy for UCA after
deciding to bat first at L M College
of Pharmacy ground as they kept
losing wickets at regular interval.
Only opener Raj Shah offered some
resistance with a 75-ball 46 as
Harshal Kuntar rattled UCA batting
with a four wicket haul.
Though Harshal could not do
much with the bat, fellow opener
Atithya Rathod hit an unbeaten 78-
ball 68 to guide SCC through in 34
overs. He first had a 75-run second
wicket stand with Bhavin Engle,
who hit eight fours in his 67-ball 46,
before adding another 84 runs for
the unfinished third wicket with
Kshitij Patel (31*, 54b, 3x4) to help
SCC register an easy win. AM

win to reach the
final in the under-
13 category of Juggernaut

Taksh Shukla scored the
most important goal of
the match in the 10th
minute that helped
Kahaani beat Ballbusters
in the semis. Kahaani will
face Streetballers in the
final showdown.
Meanwhile in another
match, Parvesh Rawal
and Abhishek Nahar
found the net in the 10th
and 30th minute, respec-
tively, as Central Sports
brushed aside Insane
Rovers 2-1. For Rovers,
Munaf Patel found the

Meanwhile, Chaitri Shah (4
points) took the crown in the under-
9 category after a nail-biting finish.

he walled city has finally
evolved into a major
booming metro, progress-
ing in terms of real estate,
infrastructure and standard
of living. While once referred to as
the city within its walls, in the
recent times, the new areas have
added tremendous growth to
protracting the realty picture.
Ahmedabad has been in the
lime light for its superior
infrastructure and good
quality of life. So far the
real estate market is con-
cerned; the city still
holds immense
potential for both
residential and
commercial
markets.
With the
tag line
of, 'the
best city
to live
in', Ahmedabad had obtained an
added advantage by all means. With
treacherous pouring of new builders,
tie-up projects of local realtors with
outside developers, seeping in of new
schemes with ultra modern amenities
and the constant effort to improvise
hi-tech facilities, Ahmedabad is at its
peak in the real estate segment. One
of the fastest developing cities,
Ahmedabad is popular-
ized for its infra-
structural
vibrancy. A rising centre of education,
IT hub and scientific industries,
Ahmedabad depicts a very strong
property picture which is likely to last
for decades down the line. Still more
with this growth, the city progresses
to become a major cultural and com-
mercial heart of Gujarat and much of
the western India. Ahmedabad is
tagged to be one of the three Indian
cities to prosper and grown in the
new age of urbanization, adding a
wing of realty growth to it. Not only
new buyers make a beeline for prop-
erty investment here, but also numer-
ous foreign companies have set up
bases in and around the city.
The real estate development in
not to be proved as far as Ahmedabad
is concerned. One look in and around
the city suffices. Development of new
flyovers, maintenance and repairing
of old bridges as well as navigation of
new BRTS routes is a sign of real infra-
structural growth in the city.
Ahmedabad offers a mix of
product categories com-
prising of residential
apartments,
b u n g a -
lows, row houses, plotted schemes,
weekend plots as well as retail and
commercial spaces. The city has a
very specified yet varied range of real-
ty products widely categorised as res-
idential, commercial, institutional
and entertainment zones. In a way,
the city is prospering to turn in to a
well-planned unit. Side by side, the
government is doing its level best to
turn this city into prime time location
by all means. Endowed with all the
features essential and ideal for
growth, Ahmedabad has seen some
major developments take place. Key
projects in the form of SEZs, hotels,
integrated townships; gated com-
munities as well as specialty
townships such as financial prod-
ucts townships and IT corridors
have come up in a big way. The
city is well connected, internally
as well as externally through its
elaborate transit systems, adding
to its commercial value. The Bus
Rapid Transit System (BRTS)
started in 2009, has even won
the USA International
Sustainable Transport Award.
The last decade has seen
Ahmedabad transform into
an urban modernity of inter-
national standards. The
expansion of Ahmedabad

has also affected in the real estate
growth, positively. New upcoming
areas especially offer wide variety,
amenity and even a moderate rate
with good appreciation values.
Ahmedabad is turning into a modern
commercial hub, bringing in the best
of business-world serenity. The state-
of-the-art offices, arcades and corpo-
rate houses have added to the luxury
along with the required facilities.

ecor around the pool area
can make a lot of differ-
ence in enhancing the
beauty and look of the
landscape. However, the factors cru-
cial to the design of a poolside land-
scape have to be kept in mind.
Adorn the area with plants, and fix-
tures in bright colours complement-
ing the blue of the water to extend a
harmonious look to the landscape
RELAXATION NOOKS
A snack counter by the pool to
enjoy light snacks and refreshments
is a nice way to relax. The main rea-
son for having a snack counter near
the pool is to provide easy access to
refreshments after a swim. The
design for this space has to be well
planned, as it can become a strong
focal point. This counter has to also
blend in with a lot of elements in
the landscape like the pergolas, the
lawn area, the pool and a concrete
patio. This addition to the pool area
can be made without altering the
general design pattern of the land-
scape. It can vastly expand the
design potential of this space. The
counter can either be stand-alone
teak, oak, wood-inlay table, or a
counter with open shelves below for
storage. These spaces can include
refinements such as wine racks and
refrigerated drawers.
FURNITURE
A wicker deck lounge chair is a good
start. Cushions are optional, since
you would not want them to get
wet. A perforated metal magazine
rack or a side table can also be
placed. A tea cart or a bar trolley will
add to the ease of relaxing here.
Garden benches, armchairs, din-
ing and patio tables, and planters
should be made of hardwood.
Stylish, durable and comfortable,
this kind of furniture will make your
pool area a good relaxation retreat.
An elegant chaise lounge chair is per-
fect for poolside, on a deck or porch.
It is both practical and functional.
GARDEN DECOR
A polyester umbrella is light in
colour and adds a bright spot of
cheerfulness to alfresco dining.
Planters having a slatted bottom
panel to place a pot within the
planter for a seasonal change of
flowers are a good way to enhance
your garden. Garden lighting, pole-
mounted bird feeders, bird houses,
garden statues, are other accessories.

20. Several areas in Ahmedabad have
boomed wonderfully in the recent
years. The prices of flats and individ-
ual houses have hiked up enormously,
giving an added advantage to the buy-
ers and sellers both. The property
prices of high rise flats in Prahladnagar,
Judges Bungalows and surrounding
areas have reached 1 crore. At the same
time, huge bungalows are available in
these rates in Bopal, Ghuma, Silaj, S.P.
ring road and other new locations far
off. Ahmedabad also had a diversified
section in terms of rates varying due to
the proximity of distance and basic
and ultra amenities in and around the
area.
The real estate market in
Ahmedabad is on a high. Being the
largest city of Gujarat and the seventh
largest Metropolitan City of India,
Ahmedabad proves to be a viable
option for investing in properties of all
kind Moreover, Ahmedabad proves to
be an excellent destination for invest-
ment in Industrial Property due to
thriving Chemical and Pharmaceutical
Industries. Those interested in
Commercial property can also choose
Ahmedabad as a profitable avenue as
many foreign companies have set up
their sales offices in Ahmedabad in the
recent years. The city's infrastructure is
in its modernization phase and the
completion of Sardar Sarovar Project
of dams and canals has improved the
supply of potable water and electricity
for the city, thus making investment
in properties a very profitable option.
The construction activities and
new real estate projects in Ahmedabad
have pushed property rates to new
highs. As a location of property invest-
ment, Ahmedabad certainly has good
prospects in store for prospective
investors. Ahmedabad being a big city
and expanding day by day builders
here get more opportunities to build
more hi-tech buildings. As the entry
market for real estate builders is
opened with easy entry, real estate
market faces cut-to-cut competition,
and hence customers and investors
are benefited from the same. This sce-
nario appeals to be a customer driven
market Out of many metro cities, the
real estate market in Ahmedabad is
booming since last decade. This real
estate market is top choice for
Investors and NRIs. They are confi-
dent about the stability and higher
returns of the investments. Land rates
have hiked like anything in areas like
Satellite, C.G. Road, Vastrapur and
S.G. Highway with never ending
demand for residential and commer-
cial lands. The hiked prices of fuel,
downfall of the stock markets recent-
ly has not affected the real estate mar-
ket at all. This proves that the real
estate market in Ahmedabad is a good
choice to make a long- term invest-
ments. The city has grown largely and
the limits have been redefined now.
AUDA (Ahmedabad Urban
Development Authority) limits have
been increased to make sure that the
new property construction is done
systematically and that the basic infra-
structural development of roads,
streetlights, water, drainage, gardens
is available to the residents of the
expanding city.
T
he mercury is rising and people
are thinking up ways to keep
their homes cool. With con-
stant load-shedding turning on that
air-conditioner could be a rarity.
There are ingenious ways to keep
your home cool the natural and sim-
ple way.
ROOF:
Since about a third of the heat shines
in through the roof, painting the roof
with a reflective coating could har-
ness the heat. Dark coloured roofs
absorb more heat so painting the roof
in light shades can stall the heat
build-up to a certain extent.
WINDOWS:
About 40 percent of heat comes in
through the windows. Reflective win-
dow coatings are one way of keeping
off the heat. Besides cutting off the
glare from the sun, this kind of sun
control protects the upholstery,
drapes and carpets from fading.
WALLS:
Although the colour of walls is not as
significant as that of the roof, it
affects the degree of heat coming in.
Walls painted in light shades weath-
er the heat better on sides which
receive maximum sunlight.
PLANTS:
A natural way to keep your home and
surroundings cool and fresh is with
plants. Potted plants located strategi-
cally inside the house and kept con-
stantly wet and watered can consid-
erably reduce heat indoors. Well-
located deciduous trees on the eastern
and western sides of the house are a
sensible option. A moist lawn can also
cool the place around the house.
LOUVRES:
The adjustable slats of modern lou-
vres are making them more popular
than traditional shades. Louvres can
have either horizontal or vertical slats
and can be installed from the inside
or the outside of windows.
MATS:
Ethnic mats woven from 'khus' roots
are a natural way of keeping the
home cool through the summer.
However, the mats have to be kept
constantly moist for a greater cooling
effect.
SHADES:
Both exterior and interior shades are
effective in staving off the harsh sun-
light. Before deciding on the kinds of
shading options, consider the long-
term or short term use as well as the
ventilation aspect. Exterior shades
include awnings and canopies, shut-
ters and louvres. Awnings are the best
bet considering they block direct
heat.

'Cement' - a building block of ever lasting homes

C
rystals are useful to
energize any area of
your home. So, to
clear away any unwanted
energies it is essential to
clean them regularly.
Crystals and gemstones
should always be cleansed
before being used for any
sort of healing or therapy
work. Crystals absorb a wide
range of vibrations, right
from electricity and magnet-
ism to sound - even emo-
tions. They absorb vibra-
tions, be they positive or
negative, from the environ-
ment. However, there are a
few crystals which do not
absorb or store negative ener-
gies and that's why they do
not require any cleansing.
These crystals are super
seven, citrine, selenite, etc.
Each new crystal should be
washed before use, with the
exception of a few water-sol-
uble minerals. Some of the
easy cleansing methods are
with salt and water, although
salt water is not good for soft
and porous crystals. If you
are not sure about the struc-
ture of the crystal it is better
to choose other methods as
salt water will damage the
surface of many softer
stones. It is said that salt
water is a medium for clear-
ing crystal energies. This
method is very effective but
often it can be difficult to
remove all traces of salt from
the crystal and salt water can
percolate into the structure
of a few crystals and cause
them to break. Calcite,
halite, opal, turquoise, mica
and lots of other stones can-
not be cleansed well with salt
water. Another method to
cleanse crystal is to hold the
stones in cold running water
and then leave them to dry.
You can also use a little soapy
water to cleanse the dust and
fingerprints from the crystal.
Water will also cleanse your
stones of energy imbalances.
EARTH BURIAL:
This is very effective way to
cleanse and heal the crystal.
In your garden or garden
pot, bury the crystal for four
to seven days. Do not forget
to mark the place where you
bury the crystal.
SMUDGING:
In this method, you do not
require much time and effort
to cleanse crystals and stones
of unwanted energy. This
method quickly clears the
crystals and stones. To
smudge, pass your crystals
many times through the
smoke of burning incense,
cedar, sandalwood, juniper
or sage. All these were found
to be powerful purifying
herbs. Do not use artificial
incense. Clearing stone:
There are a few stones that
have the potency to clear up
the negative and unwanted
energies. These are amethyst
clusters, quartz crystal clus-
ters, and selenite. For two
days leave the crystal which
has to be cleared on the
clearing stone.
SOUND:
The resonant sound of a tun-
ing fork or a bell vibrates the
structure of crystal and allows
them to quickly get rid off
any negative energy.
Whatever method you
choose according to your
crystal, the prime thing is to
clean the crystal on time for
best possible benefits. And
don't forget to clean large dec-
orative crystals around your
home from time to time.

into a new large scale cement plant of 9 lakh MT
annual capacity in Gondal taluka of Rajkot dis-
trict. The plant has already started its production
and in a short span of less than two months it has
attracted attention of all the big customers. Be it
Redimix plant, precast manufacturers, infrastruc-
ture companies or "AA" class contractors. The mar-
ket report and test conducted in various inde-
pendent laboratories have proved that the quali-
ty of cement is of a very superior grade. It gives 10
to 15% higher strength than most of the cement
available in the market. Because of its high qual-
ity, the cement can be used in high grade concrete
of M-45, M-55 and above. In fact because of its
quality the cement is ranked as the best cement
available in the market. The management is com-
mitted to keep the quality standards at the same
level at which it is supplying today in the market.
