1. The Lion
This is an annual magazine that is aimed at the students, past
students and parents of students at the school.
This magazine celebrates the school years trips and achievements.
2.
3. The mast head here clearly
shows the name of the
magazine.
Because the school logo is at
the bottom of the page, we
can assume that the reader
will already be aware that this
magazine is Hampton School’s
magazine.
4. Main article and picture shots
This magazine unfortunately hasn’t got a cover
picture like any other
conventional magazine
so the reader isn’t told
about what the main
article will be about.
Because there are lots
of pictures that are all
the same sizes, but are all on the same subject the
reader knows that lots of events that are all
featuring as the main article have happened.
5. Main article and picture shots
The use of lots of pictures also adds extra colour to
the front cover to the magazine, making it more eye
catching and interesting.

6. Colours and layout
• The use of the yellow and black on the front
cover show that this magazine is for members
of the school (the school colour).
• The layout is strong and the colours are
striking making the school look very posh and
smart.
7. The lion and other magazines
I found that this magazine doesn’t comply with the
forms and conventions of other magazines I look at.
For example ‘The lion’ magazine doesn’t have;
- Tag line,
- Puff,
- A main feature article,
- Any cover lines,
- A cover price or a headline.
8. What I have learnt form looking at this
magazine:
I have learnt from looking at ‘The lion’ that not
all magazines follow the forms and conventions
of other magazines, meaning that this magazine
doesn’t have a house style.
This has shown me that my magazine doesn’t
have to include all the usual conventions.
