Voice broadcasting is like a misunderstood child. Voice Broadcasting AKA robo calls, auto calls,
automated dialer, pre recoreded messages,VB, and voice dialing. When searching Google there
are over 6 million pages related to voice broadcasting. VB is similar to direct mail, VB gets the
message out to the individual, as direct reaches an individual with an advertisement. The big
difference is that to reach a prospect through direct mail you will pay over 30 cents, to reach the
same prospect through robocalls you will pay 3 cents. Look at it this way, you can call the same
person 10 times for the 1 time you send the direct mail peace.(not advising you to call someone 10
times)
Voice Broadcasting is used world wide by advertisers to get there message to the prospect. Like
direct mail the most important part is buying the correct list. so you are able to target the right
person instead of wasting money. The one draw back with automated calls is, in certain countries
there are different laws and restrictions. The US government amended the laws in 2009 regarding
robo calls, advertisers can not send prerecorded calls to consumers, unless they have obtained a
signed written agreement to receive the calls.
The types of pre-recorded messages that are allowed are political calls for campaigns to get the
vote out, non profit charities such as the Humane society, public service announcements
announcing school closings, weather warnings etc. Advertisers also use VB for B2B marketing. On
answering machine calls always leave a phone number for the person to call and opt out and if it is
a live call. give the customer a way to opt out and not receive calls, such as press 1 to be removed
from the list.
Companies that have authorization to call there customers through voice dialing, are very
productive using this method of advertising. For example a gym can call back it's members or old
customers and tell them about upcoming specials. Remember you must have permission and be
in compliance with the regulations.
Most organizations are not eligible to use voice broadcasting in the USA, if you happen to be one
of the organizations except or allowed under the law, as mentioned above, imagine the response
since most companies no longer are allowed to advertise using this method.
Many Small political campaigns are using robo calls as there main form of advertising, they are
finding that it does work, it is cost effective and direct mail is to expensive and to competitive.
Check with your local, state, or federal government to find out the exact regulations before using
voice dialing.
