Kindergarten letter for first checkout 2013 - 2014
1. Dear Parent,
Your child’s kindergarten class came to the Learning Commons (school library)
today and checked out one library book! Library books are due in one week, on your
child’s Related Arts library day.
• Mrs. Derrick’s class visits the library on A Days
• Mrs. Smith’s class visits the library on B Days
• Mrs. Rider’s class visits the library on C Days
• Mrs. Bondurant’s class visits the library on E Days
Today, we read a book called Mr. Wiggle’s Book. This book is about taking care of
library books. Examples of what NOT to do include: do not eat food around library
books, do not color in library books, and do not bend the pages of library books (always
remember to use a bookmark!)
Other ideas from Mr. Wiggle include:
• Find a place to keep library books so that they will not get lost or damaged.
• Have clean hands when reading a book and turn the pages gently.
• Send a library book back to the Learning Commons to be mended if it is
accidently damaged while checked out.
Please help your child take good care of their library books by reviewing these ideas
at home! You can also help by reading library books together and modeling good
book care! ☺
Happy reading!
