How to prepare for your
visa application

2. Receive your unconditional offer
When?
Sometime between January – August 2014
What will you receive?
You will receive an email notification from UCAS and an email from the
University confirm your unconditional offer.
3. Receive your CAS email
When?
May – August 2014
What will you receive?
You will receive an email from the University asking you to confirm your
personal details for the CAS for your Tier 4 Student Visa.
4. Prepare your visa documents
When?
May – August 2014
What do you need to do?
It is really important that you prepare your financial documents at least
one month before you apply for your Tier 4 Student Visa.
5. Make a Tier 4 Student visa application
When?
Three months before your course starts. This cannot be done
beforehand.
What if you need help?
We have a dedicated International Student Advice Team who can
provide advice and support for your visa application.
6. Receive a refusal or have any problems with
your visa
When?
June – September 2014
What do you need to do?
Please contact the International Student Advice Team if you have any
questions or problems obtaining your visa.
7. Receive your Tier 4 Student Visa
When?
July – September 2014
What do you need to do next?
Once you have received your Tier 4 Student Visa, you can now get
ready to come to the UK. Please book on our Heathrow Airport ‘meet
and greet service’.
8. Complete online registration
When?
August - September
What do you need to do?
Once you have received an unconditional offer, you will automatically
be invited to register online.
9. Enter the UK
When?
No more than one month before your course starts.
What do you need to do on arrival?
You need to ensure your Tier 4 Student Visa is be stamped on arrival at
the airport Immigration Control.
10. Welcome to City University London
When?
Between 22/09/2014 – 24/09/2014
What do you need to know?
We are looking forward to welcoming you to City University London.
Induction week will take place during this week.
11. Complete in-person registration
When?
Between 22/09/2014 – 24/09/2014
What do you need to do?
All new students will be required to attend an in-person registration
session. You will need to bring your passport and visa with you in order
for you to do this successfully.
12. What now?
When you have completed all these steps, you will be a City University
London student.
