Description: A family therapist typically meets with an entire family to discuss
and examine the issues that are interfering in their lives. The goal of therapy is to
address and treat emotional or mental disorders that are harming the family.
Level of Education Required:
1)Must have a Master’s degree in social work, counseling, or psychology and
must have a LCSW, LPC or LMFT
2) Must have a Master’s in Counseling and be provisionally licensed LPC (PLPC)
3) Must have a Master’s in Social Work and have LMSW

Description: Marriage and Family Therapists are trained and licensed
to independently diagnose and treat mental health and substance
abuse problems. They focus on understanding their clients’ symptoms
and interaction patterns within their existing environment from a
relationship perspective that incorporates family systems.
Level of Education Required:
-Master’s Degree (minimum)
Type of Work Experience Needed:
-Trained with a minimum of two years supervised clinical experience
-Experience working in a high volume environment strongly desired
Required Skills/Knowledge
-Proficient with Microsoft Office
-Fire and safety card must be presented upon hire or obtained at our
facility within first 30 days
-Excellent time management skills
-Stellar communication skills, both written and verbal
Description: Family Counselors provide professional counseling services to
individuals, families and groups served by Amethyst. They are responsible for
individual and family counseling.
Level of Education Required:
-Graduate Degree in Counseling, Social Work &/or Marriage & Family Therapy, or
doctorate in Clinical Psychology (Ph.D / Psy.D)
Type of Work Experience Needed:
-3-5 years experience in chemical dependency and mental health treatment
services
-2-4 years providing Family Treatment and/or Integrated-Systems approach; able
to use activity-based &/or play therapy strategies to deliver services
-3-5 years of counseling with intense issue exposure / trauma-informed care -1-
3 years experience working with diverse populations
-1-3 years experience with sexual abuse/domestic violence & family reunification
Required Skills/Knowledge:
-Assesses clients’ risk of lethality
-Evaluates client’s outcome of participation in classes and group sessions attended
-Determines when to place clients on apartment or building restriction, and/or
when to require clients to travel with buddies.
-Instructs clients to provide urine samples for urine screens.
-Decides when to request / instruct clients to leave the group, class, or individual
session, due to the client’s inappropriate behavior
Description: A psychologist obtains clinical responsibilities within the youth inpatient and day
treatment units. Clinical roles include providing individual and family therapy for children and
adolescents on the inpatient and day treatment units, as well as psychological assessment
with goals of differential diagnosis and treatment planning, assessment and treatment of
autism spectrum disorders, and designing and implementing behavioral intervention plans.
Level of Education Required:
-Graduated with a Ph.D or Psy.D. degree from an APA accredited graduate program in
counseling, school or clinical psychology
-Completion of an APA-approved pre-doctoral internship
Type of Work Experience Needed:
-Current licensure as a Psychologist in the State of Utah
-At least 500 hours of practicum experience including intervention and assessment
-Internship authorization and coursework verification
-Experience working with youth populations in acute settings

- Outreach consultation skills
- Demonstrated human relation and effective communication skills
- Ability to provide care appropriate to the population served
- Ability to provide patient care to patients and families resistant to treatment and delivering

-Have at least one year of professional experience as an OT (post-graduation)
-At least eight hours of continued education per year in the area of evaluation and
treatment of upper quadrant disorders desired
Required Skills/Knowledge
-Advise on specialist equipment to assist with daily activities
-Ability to develop a rehabilitation program to help re-build lost skills
-Ability to teach anxiety management techniques
-Ability to assist people to return to work
-Coach people with learning difficulties or poor social skills, e.g. in handling money
and social interaction
-Mentor people on how to control their own behavior
Job Description: Occupational therapists treat injured, ill, or disabled patients through the
therapeutic use of everyday activities. They help these patients develop, recover, and
improve the skills needed for daily living and working.
Levels of Education:
-Bachelor's or graduate degree in occupational therapy from an accredited university-
based occupational therapy program
-Certification in a relevant treatment technique that enhances current scope of practice
-National certification/licensure in a specialty field by a national organization, such as
AOTA, APTA, ASHT
-Advanced master's degree in clinically relevant area
Type of Work Experience Needed:
-At least 5 years of clinical experience required
Required Skills/Knowledge:
-Demonstrated ability and willingness to mentor/train staff or student interns
-Provides clinical leadership and demonstrates expertise for a particular patient
type/group
-Enhances an existing or new clinical program for a patient type/group
-Actively participates in a hospital and/or system or departmental committee/task force
-Designs and implements original staff development program which facilitates the clinical
competencies of other staff members
-Initiates and/or provides leadership in an ongoing departmental interest/study group
