Read over the law and elaborate through own experiences as you have witnessed working at the Village.
Physical ; Talk about what defines physical abuse. Such as; kicking, hitting, biting, or using an object to cause harm, etc
Sexual; Elaborate stimulation Sexual stimulation - is any stimulus including, but not limited to, bodily contact that leads to, enhances and maintains sexual arousal. Tip: Discuss the types of sexual abuse.
Explain that psychological abuse is also known as mental or emotional abuse. Children may fall as a victim to psychological abuse if and when they witness physical abuse amongst their caretakers, drug abuse in the home, sexual activities, etc.
Definition of consanguinity: blood relation, i.e, mother, father, brother sister, etc. Definition of affinity: relationships. Tip: Discuss adoptive families, biological families, kinship placements, etc.
Put the definition of family and unstable to discuss unstable family. This will help with the transition to examples of unstable families.
Tip: have a discussion about various types of unstable families
Discuss reactive attachment disorder. Share situations from work experiences.
Explain behaviors we have seen in the children who attend the Academy as well as other school programs.
Have an open discussion on various behaviors of children who have experienced abuse.
Discuss how children ’s behaviors when entering the program if they have experienced abuse.
