What is natural disaster’s
 A natural disaster is a major adverse event
resulting from the earth's natural hazards.
 A natural disaster can include loss of life,
injury, economic loss, and environmental loss.
The severity of the losses depends on the
ability of the affected population to resist the
    hazard.
The World is always changing.

Natural disasters are changes which are
so great they may cause damage to the
shape of the land or to the lives of people
and other living things.
Great changes happen deep inside the
Earth and on its surface. The changes on
the outer part of the Earth happen
because of different kinds of weather.
The term natural has consequently
been disputed because the events
are not purely natural but result from
interaction between natural forces
and the human race.
Natural disasters are often frightening
and difficult for us to understand,
because we have no control over when
and where they happen. What we can
control is how prepared we are as
communities and governments to deal
with the dangers that natural disasters
bring.
Places that are more likely to have natural
disasters, such as the earthquake-prone Pacific
Ring of Fire, or coastal areas vulnerable to
hurricanes, require accurate methods of
predicting disasters and warning the public
quickly. Once the people have been informed,
evacuation routes must be provided so that they
can all leave quickly and safely, even if they travel
by foot. Emergency warnings and evacuation
plans are not enough, though. .
Example of natural disaster

•Floods,
•Tsunami,
•Tornadoes,
•Hurricanes/cyclones,
•Volcanic eruptions,
•Earthquakes,
•Landslides.
What is ring of fire?
The Pacific Ring of Fire.flv
Ring of Fire
The Ring of fire or Pacific Ring of Fire is an
area where large numbers of earthquakes and
volcanic eruptions occur in the basin of the
 Pacific Ocean.
Facts
 The Ring of Fire is 40,000 km long and is
shape as a horse shoe. The Ring of Fire has
452 volcanoes and is home to 75% of the
    world's active and dormant volcanoes.
 It is sometimes called the circum-Pacific belt
or the circum-Pacific seismic belt. 90% of the
    world's earthquakes and 80% of the world's
largest earthquakes occur along the Ring of
    Fire.
 It is sometimes called the circum-Pacific belt
or the circum-Pacific seismic belt. 90% of the
    world's earthquakes and 80% of the world's
largest earthquakes occur along the Ring of
    Fire.
RING OF FIRE

The Ring of Fire is a chain of volcanoes that line
the Pacific Rim. The Pacific oceanic plate moves
under the Eurasian plate forming mountains and
volcanoes.
The Ring of Fire is a direct result of plate
tectonics and the movement and collisions
of lithospheric plates. The eastern section of the ring
is the result of the Nazca Plate and the Cocos
Plate being subducted beneath the westward
moving South American Plate
PLATES’ STRESS

Along the edges of the tectonic plates, stress builds
up until eventually the plates moves suddenly and
violently causing earthquakes.
Layer’s of the earth
JAPAN’S TECTONIC THREAT
The islands of Japan were created by plate tectonics.
The same internal forces have also challenged the
people of Japan. Mt. Fuji, Japan’s tallest peak, is an
active volcano that causes threat to Japan.
Pacific 'Ring of Fire' unleashes
    disaster- Example.

•JAKARTA, 29 May 2006 - The earthquake that rocked Java was the
latest disaster in a part of the world known as the Pacific "Ring of
Fire" that has seen a burst of seismic and volcanic activity that year.

•From the nuclear-like explosion of Krakatoa volcano off the coast of
Indonesia in 1883 to the Indian Ocean tsunami disaster that killed
220,000 in late 2004 the Ring's awesome power is legend.

•The eruption of Mount St Helens in the United States in 1980, the
freak quake that felled San Francisco in 1906 and the one that
devastated Kobe, Japan, in 1995, were all part of the Ring's
devastating toll.
Geoscientist
Geoscientist study the volcanoes rocks and ash
to see what minerals are found in the earth.
Also if we study volcanoes, we will know when
it might blow so we can save lives in near by
 towns.
Role of organisations
Nation Disaster Management Authority Of
India- NDMA

National vision - To build a safer and disaster resilient
  India by developing a holistic, pro-active, multi-disaster
  and technology-driven strategy for disaster
management through collective efforts of all
  Government Agencies and Non-Governmental
  Organisations.

NDMA as the apex body is mandated to lay down
the policies, plans and guidelines for Disaster
Management to ensure timely and effective
The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent
Societies (IFRC) is the world's largest humanitarian network
that reaches 150 million people in 187 National Societies
through the work of over 13 million volunteers.
Disaster response continues to represent the largest
portion of the International Federation work, with
assistance to around 30 million people annually from
refugees to victims of natural disasters. This section
includes our emergency response units and issues
relating to humanitarian policies as they strive to
improve the quality of our immediate response and
long-term rehabilitation work.
National Crisis Management Cell (NCMC),
the never center of all intelligence agencies
of Pakistan that acts as focal point in all
emergencies is one of the most prestigious
 governmental organization in Pakistan. RAD
Federation was invited to draft a proposal for
the development of NCMC website along with
   National Security Threat Advisory system.
After the initial kickoff meeting with director
NCMC it was deemed necessary to analyze
the nature of NCMC as an organization and
for this a week of in depth study was spent to
          produce a matching proposal.
 At RAD Federation learned that the “Crisis Management
represents one of the most difficult, challenging, urgent
tasks that public managers face. Crisis environments
are complex, dynamic and place lives, property, and
continuity of operations in our communities at risk”.
