A nonlinear, expletive-filled talk about learning!
A pep talk about filing cabinets, and organizing your closets!
A simple solution to all your problems: just build a robot!
File under: science fiction, unreliable narrators, puns, design industry jokes.
For educational purposes only.
2. This talk is about “Design Ops,” a buzzword I invented to
address actual UX industry issues of GUILT, SHAME and
FEAR while remaining grounded in ostensibly useful
advice about building cool UX dashboards and buying
notebooks, pens, pencils and doublesided removable
scotch tape. My analysis relies on imagery of user
experience in science fiction as well as numerous
(explicit) anecdotes about focus groups, how UX comics
saved my ass, how to do hella-cheap remote usability
research. I promote low cost methods while
recommending you spend about $600 on books. Other
subjects covered include php, css, sass, ruby, wireframes,
prototyping, how to lie with UX maps, how to lie with
personas, how to lie with behavior modeling, how to
build a robot, a giant Eddie Murphy head on a trailer, why
writing is the most important tool for UX, and why
ultimately the basis of any compelling UX is: PRINCIPLES.
