2. What Is Cloud Computing
● Cloud = Internet. The name comes from the use of a cloud-shaped
symbol as an abstraction for the complex infrastructure it contains in
system diagrams. Cloud computing entrusts remote services with a
user's data, software and computation.
● Cloud is the use of computing resources (hardware and software) that
are delivered as a service over a network (typically the Internet)
● Cloud Computing" is the current trend and future computing model
based on Internet. It is a new way of delivering IT services to
customers called IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS where the hardware and
software are no longer sold but rented just like utilities such as
electricity, etc. All the users need is just a computer with browser,
just like accessing Facebook, and all the rest of the hardware such as
the server will be on the "Cloud" or somewhere out there at the
vendor’s premises
3.
4. 3 Major Services Available on the Cloud
● IAAS (Infrastructure As A Service): Businesses rent
the hardware: processor and data storage.
● PAAS (Platform As A Service): Businesses rent the
hardware, operating system, and development tool to
run their own developed applications.
●SAAS (Software As A Service): Businesses rent
everything namely hardware, operating system, and
application software to run it just using a simple
notebook with an internet browser.
● Other services terms such as : MaaS, CaaS, Xaas
5.
6. Cloud Examples
● SaaS : Public Email (Gmail, YahooMail,
Hotmail, etc), social network (Facebook,
Twitter, etc) and also Software through cloud
(Office365, Adobe Creative Cloud, Google
Docs/Drive, etc)
● PaaS : Amazon Web Service, Windows Azure
● IaaS : Amazon EC2, BizNet Cloud,
TelkomCloud
7. What do you Use?
● Email on the go
Google, Yahoo
● Online Storage Services
Humyo, Microsoft SkyDrive, Amazon S3,
Ubuntu One,
● Working in Virtual Office (Collaboration of
Software & Office Suite)
Google Docs, Office Live, Adobe Cloud
● Social Networking
Google+, Facebook, etc
8. Typical Users of Cloud
● Startups (cheap infrastructure, low investment)
● Entertainment (highly scalable, temporary
systems; think movie promotional campaigns)
● Small businesses (similar motives to startups)
● Enterprises (quick and cheap experimentation)
● Consumers, Society (as users who demand
high services, cheap payment, almost
everywhere access and ease of use of the
products and services)
9. Cloud Deployment
● Public Cloud
Public cloud applications, storage, and other resources are
made available to the general public by a service provider.
These services are free or offered on a pay-per-use model.
Generally, public cloud service providers like Amazon
AWS, Microsoft and Google own and operate the
infrastructure and offer access only via Internet (direct
connectivity is not offered
● Private Cloud
Private cloud is cloud infrastructure operated solely for a
single organization, whether managed internally or by
a third-party and hosted internally or externally.
10. Cloud Deployment
● Hybrid Cloud
Hybrid cloud is a composition of two or more clouds (private,
community or public) that remain unique entities but are
bound together, offering the benefits of multiple
deployment models.
● Community Cloud
Community cloud shares infrastructure between several
organizations from a specific community with common
concerns (security, compliance, jurisdiction, etc.), whether
managed internally or by a third-party and hosted internally
or externally.
11. Cloud Impact
● Advantages :
Cost Efficient. Cheaper.
Easy to Access. Easy to Manage.
Environmental Aspect. ● Disadvantages :
Security Issues.
Infrastructure Issues.
● Key Points :
Choosing Reliable Third Party Cloud Providers
Business with cloud services become more efficient and thus
profitable. Consumers will have fast, cheap, competitive
services of a Cloud World ( Service Centric World)

12. Cloud World
( a Service Centric World)
● Cloud created 100,000 new IT jobs in 3 months

● Cloud Computing is Converged Infrastructure and Shared Services →
● Cloud computing relies on sharing of resources to achieve coherence
and economies of scale similar to a utility (like the electricity grid)
over a network
● Cloud Computing as ICT technologies that represents an
infrastructure revolution, moving infrastructure use from a capital
expense to an operational expense and cutting the overall cost by at
least 90 percent.

13. Once upon a time..
● One bright morning in his home, Eddy
awakened from sleep because of the noise he
heard on the TV show that aired last night
which he had been set to this morning.
● While watching the show, He grab his
smartphone to turn on the ignition of the car to
heat it and set that 5 minutes later, the air
condition in the car turned on in order to feel
fresh when he got into the car.
14. ● At the office, Eddy opened the bag and pulled out his tablet
computer which is very light and thin to begin work. He also
checked the job, email, and other ERP system (Enterprise
Resource Planning) company and get the orders from his
superiors for his official visit to a number of his best customers.
● Eddy access the CRM system (Customer Relationship
Management) company to obtain a list of 10 customers with the
”best sales history” data. Then he filled start and end dates of
the itinerary and pointed with his finger the "Proceed" on the list.
● Some time later he received a pop-up reminder of his system
Calendar appointment with the customer that it has been set,
tickets & hotel already booked, restaurant for dining already
booked, and pick-up car is ready for his travelling days from the
rental company. The he click "Confirm", and also click
"Synchronize" to the Cloud Calendar, for his boss and his wife
can easily see the status and position him during the trip.
15. ● Then Eddy leave his office with an adjusted to the
appointment that was approved by its customers.
● After he completed visit 2 of his customer, he received a
reminder pop up informing that the customer which is
number 5 in the order-list of his visit was to ask him to
change his schedule appointments for the next day. Eddy
then click "Approved" for not to disappoint customer.
● A few moments later he got a pop up notification of the
accounting that the cost of lodging an additional 1 day has
settled with the hotel, that his hotel has been extended one
day, and from the car rental that car has been scheduled
to the next day.
16. ● At each end of the visit, Eddy always record the results through
a computer tablet or smartphone so that his Boss could always
follow the progress of the visits from time to time. Sometimes
there are times when its customers ask to speak directly with
his Boss via video conference.
● After finished the trips, and successfully arrive at the Airport,
Eddy opened the tablet computer and see a list of restaurants
to dine later that evening with his wife and children. After finding
the restaurant wants, Eddy start choosing what hour and where
the location of the table he wants and select the menu ”food
menu” and click "Proceed". Moments later, there is pop up
notification from the restaurants that his order was received and
the restaurant expecting his arrival with his family.
