CLAT 2013 – Analyzed by TestCracker
First things first – CLAT 2013 was on the expected lines and it was manageable or should we say,
crackable! We were there at the gates talking to CLAT takers and we have got an exhaustive
feedback from our students too (we are happy to know we could successfully predict most of the
questions – but we will do the chest-thumping act in a bit!). TestCracker is not here to pronounce a
judgment on CLAT 2013 – but merely to present to you the facts of the matter…
The split
Subject Total Questions Average Attempts Cracking Attempts
G.K. 50 25-30 40+
English & Comprehension 40 22-26 32+
Mathematics 20 8-10 12+
Logical Reasoning 40 24-28 32+
Legal Aptitude 50 30-34 40+
Overall 200 109-128 156+
[Attempt = Sure knowledge of the answer or a reasonable guess – not a random answer!]
To sum it up
 GK was easy – The section was slightly inclined towards Current Affairs and the questions
were expected. We made our students focus on India’s performance in Olympics 2012 in our
regular study material (we also covered India's performance in Olympics in our free current
affairs blog) – and guess what – there were atleast 3 straightforward questions (Sushil, Vijay
and Gagan) from there! There were the usual questions on personalities, organizations and
‘special days’. If you were regularly following news, you would have found the section easy.
 English & Comprehension was moderate – The section had one passage (with ten
questions), five questions each on para-jumbles, idioms and phrases and ten questions on
prepositions. No sentence correction or ‘spot the error’ question was asked. The passage
based questions were straight forward and barring a few phrases and para-jumbles, almost
all the questions were crackable.
 Mathematics was moderate - This section required application of the basic concepts – to
those who had practiced the paper appeared easy. There were questions from Geometry,
Mensuration and Arithmetic. In our crash course, we had focused on all the aspects (ratio &
proportion, percentages, profit & loss, speed-time-distance-work, area...) and have we not
been proved correct! To the future CLAT takers –we predict that Mathematics is one section
which may become tougher – agreed there are just 20 Questions – but they make a lot of
difference. And without Mathematics, you may even struggle in LR…
 Logical Reasoning was easy - This section was mostly about Analytical Reasoning. There
were 5 questions each on Blood Relationships, Syllogisms, Course of Action, Series, and
Analogies. The bulk went to Arrangements, which had 15 questions.

 Legal Aptitude was moderate – This section, always our favourite, had a few questions
which were repeated from CLAT 2012! There were questions based on legal principles, torts,
criminal law, family law, IPR and the Constitution. TestCracker had covered all these in ways
which would have made it really easy for its students to recall all the principles and facts.
Overall, the paper was…predictable and crackable. If you had prepared well, justice would have
been done.
One Announcement – for CLAT 2014 hopefuls
Our Crash Course has been successful – in terms of participation, in terms of our predictions and in
terms of our students’ preparation. We are excited to inform you that we are launching our Long
Term CLAT Cracker (LTCC) Module for CLAT 2014 from 15th
June 2013. We will shortly upload the
detailed planner on our website.
