* I’m goind to discuss about 10 things that fall into three major buckets\n\n* There are probably 50 things you can do as a small business \n\n* Feel free to ask questions along the way. \n
* CMS \n - important to have a simple to use CMS - examples are Wordpress and Joomla \n - allows you to easily add / edit pages and blog posts\n - gives you access to the meta-tags (behind the scene data) \nshould have a page for... \n - each office location \n - each service\n\n* Address on the footer\n - will help with places ranking\n - will help with searches that have local intent\n\n* Design with users in mind\n - Google spiders try to mimic end-users\n - always in your best interest to make choices for users over SEO\n\n
* each page should have a unique title tag - and a specific purpose\n\n* your meta-tags tell search engines what your page is about\n\n* when you do a google search you are basically seeing the Title Tags and Descriptions of all the relevant sites\n\n* both title and description can be seen in google searches\n\n
* good content gives your visitors and clients something of value that will entice them to link, share and hopefully buy!\n\n* google likes to see fresh content. the more you post new things, the more they come back to your site\n....which makes your site more relevant to them - improving rankings\n\n* content ideas\n* do a blog post on legislation\n* talk about issues the industry faces\n* Google Alerts - post links to related articles and give your opinion on them\n\n* Great example - our infographic\n
Loved this re-purposing of our infographic.\n\nDGR Legal in New Jersey.\n\nThey chopped up our infographic into a blog post and compared the nationwide statistics we published to their experiences locally. \n
\n
* So where should you get links and listings?\n\n* Industry-related sites and Associations are considered “Authority” sites\n\n* Exchanges\n - keep it natural? Link within an article\n - Links and Resources pages arent going to give you much value\n\n* Sitewide / footer links don’t have much value\n
