Pre-Course Study and Reference Books

It would be of benefit to each delegate to obtain a book on Inspection & Testing in advance, either
NICEIC "Inspection, Testing & Certification" or IEE Guidance Note 3, and start using it, reading it,
memorising the sequence of tests and learning to use it as a reference book.

If the delegate applies to the NICEIC to join as a Domestic Installer, NICEIC will send a pack
of documents, including relevant publications as part of the "welcome pack".

It is essential that delegates are familiar with the different types of earthing system likely to be
encountered (TN-C-S, TT and TN-S). They should also remind themselves of earth fault loop
impedance testing, insulation resistance testing, and testing final circuits generally, especially ring final
circuits.
