Can Google Predict Your Future?
Right now Google is testing their ability to predict
everything you do.  One way we’re testing their abilities is by
predicting when you are hungry!
And not just when you’re hungry, but what you’re most likely to
crave...where you want to eat… who you want to eat with...
how much you are willing to spend on your meal and even how
long you’re willing to wait for that meal.
How freaky would it be... if tonight you received a notification on
your phone with an invitation to have a Google taxi pick you and your friend up for free and take you to
Carmelos to enjoy your favorite Italian dish…?
That’ll be pretty freaky, wouldn’t it? It would freak me out for sure!
As you probably guessed, Google knows how much you really
make, who your real friends are, how often you communicate with
them, where you went to lunch, and how often you usually eat…
One of the ways Google does this, aside from tracking you with
you cell phone or mobile device is by … Shhhhh.. .
They Read Your Emails !!
Some people think that Google’s biggest competitor is Facebook, but in reality it's the NSA… ;)
So just as Google is getting better at predicting what you do... Google is also getting better at
predicting what and when your ideal audience and customers will do and buy next.  Google knows
that Justin and Callan Rush were testing different price points for their event this weekend, and they know
who out of those 67% of online searchers is interested in their content, who went to events like their’s
before, who can afford to go again, and where they live… Google ideally would like to direct them to Justin’s
and Callan content, if Google feels that they are the best Answer for the Question being searched for.
And obviously Justin’s content is great, because he is here and the people here are completely different
than the rest of the self proclaimed experts and gurus out there… those who are borrowing authority from
the real authorities.  Google knows there’s only one Larry King out there and who he is. So when someone
is searching for Larry King, or Eben Pagen ... Google's "Real Names Policy" ensures that the answers it
provides are from real experts and the actual person.  Hence I can’t say I’m Catherine Zeta­Jones and be
found on search for her name (DAMN !!).
We are now in a Customer Led Economy and Google wants
to know what your marketplace and customers say about you…
ff they share your content, if they talk about it, comment and
engage…. specifically on Google+ and their various platforms

and forums.  It is then that Google knows that you’re the Authority and Expert you really are, and not just
because you said it loudly, but because the people in your industry treat you and have appointed you as
such.  It is then that Google feels comfortable enough to introduce you as the answer to the questions being
searched for, and offer your products and services to your ideal audience and both the right time and the
most appropriate price point.  Heck, Google wants to even Collect that money for you and transfer it to your
Wallet (or Purse).

We were asked to handle the launch of a 70 sec. video of Skyfall
and Coke Zero called Unlock the 007 in you with a target of 8
million views across European markets.

Now that we know how important it is to leverage Google’s knowledge, how does
one make money?
Strategy #1: Related Hashtags: Help you build real fans that share
your story for you.
Strategy # 2: Google News: Helps feature you alongside trending
news and subconsciously connect your content with the current
topics in the media.
Strategy #3: Ripples: helps you  find the movers and shakers in
your market who will be your best affiliates, without asking to share
in your profits.

Strategy #1 Related Hashtags
Help you build real fans that share your story for you.
The Basics:
What is a Hashtag?
A hashtag is a word or an unspaced phrase prefixed with the hash symbol ("#"). You can make up your
own hashtag by simply starting to use the hashtag sign before any word or phrase (like #gplusgotogal), or
you can use existing hashtags that are used by brands and other users (like #cairo)
Using hashtags that are of popular subjects and topics is the right way to gain attention to your
post as well as, have it seen by the appropriate audience. A hashtag can be useful as it creates an
almost automatic RSS­like feature on Google+ and allows others (even those outside your circles) to follow
a specific topic that was created into a Google+ hashtag.
What is a Related Hashtag?
Hashtags appearing at the top of a post are related to the post’s content. Clicking on a hashtag will let you
explore related posts. Related hashtags help posts get discovered and build conversations around the
content of that post.
Google displays the first 3 hashtags on the top right side of each post, IF you added at least 1 hashtag to
your post, or if Google recognized a word or a picture in your post that relates to one of its known hashtags
(remember that Google is getting better and better at understanding content and meaning…).
Here’s an example of a post with 2 user generated hashtags (#news #superbowl2014) and 1 related hashtag
that Google added by recognizing Samuel Jackson’s name in my post (#SamuelJackson).
Hashtags with gray coloring are those used by the author of the post while hashtags with blue coloring
are added by Google based on the content of the post.

Be careful not to over do it though, or your readers might start feeling a bit like
this:  "Hashtag" with Jimmy Fallon & Justin Timberlake:
Google Explore
"Explore" is a new experience that helps users discover more content on Google+. The feature rolled out
december 2013  and is reaching more and more users in the US, so if you don’t see it yet ­ give it some
time and keep checking.
You can access the Explore tab directly from your Home button, as such:
Look for the "Explore" tab at the top of the stream
What's Hot and Recommended
Put simply, "What's Hot" is a list of trending posts on Google+ including posts with pictures, videos, and

links to other websites.
If your post makes it to the What’s Hot list (which is personalized and different to every person) it will be
seen by many people who have not added you to their circles yet and give greater visibility to your
content.
Having your post featured in the What’s Hot category is based on the number of shared your post receives
(the more it is shared, the more likely it will show up in the What’s Hot category for everyone), as well as
what Google knows about you and your interests (hence the “recommended” part of the title).
The Strategy:
Let’s get your Hashtags some visibility!
● Create a list of your Hashtags you want to use on Google+
● Make sure that the list contains popular hashtags as well as unique hashtags that are only yours
(like #gplusgotogal)
● Go to the Explore tab
● Type a popular hashtag in the Search bar, like #business
● Add that list of Hashtag to your own list, so you can use them in your posts.
● Each time you write a post about business, tag it with #business and one of your own hashtags
● Engage with your audience on Google+
● As your post is being shared, Google will begin connecting your unique hashtag with the popular
#business hashtag and with time your content will become associated with it so that when people
are searching for #business they see your content as well.
The Results:
Having your personal hashtag appear as a related hashtag when people search for content, is like being
found in Search when your ideal audience is looking for answers…
For example:
If your ideal audience is searching for content on #business and find your personal hashtag #MetaMind they
now associate #MetaMind with #Business and read your content in that frame of mind, giving you not only
extra visibility but also credibility that your content is related to their question and topic. The more than
Hashtag is shared, the greater the chances of it appearing as a trending hashtag, and integrating in the
Google­system.

One little trick is to create relevant posts around trending hashtags (Google tells you
what they are):
Related Hashtags ­ Can Boost Your Authority.
When the Explore tab came out, some of us noticed that certain people's names as hashtags (such as
#yifatcohen or #gplusgotogal) generated both associated posts and related hashtags in Explore.

When Google treats your hashtag as a related hashtag (meaning, it offers it as a suggestion to other
searches), people (who don’t yet know you) are likely to discover your content, read it and follow you ­
increasing your visibility and engagement, and as a result, your authority on that specific topic.
How Does a Hashtag Become a Related Hashtag?
Mark Traphagen (an SEO expert) had a hypothesis that these hashtags were not auto­generated, but had to
be "earned" by people using them on posts in conjunction with other hashtags. If a certain number of posts
within a certain time had to use a hashtag for Google to think it significant enough to show related hashtags.
Meaning that for a new hashtag to start showing up with related hashtags, it has to be shared:
1) More than once and
2) Fairly recently.
How much time does it take for your Hashtag to turn into a Related
Hashtag?
It depends on the level of engagement (how many times your post has been shared)
and timing (how recently was it shared). So it can happen in a matter of hours and
become a Trending Hashtag or a few days.
Our system allows you to find the conversations around your topic, and get visibility to your
content much faster. As a result ­ your hashtags will trend, the number of followers will grow,
engagement (comments, shares, +1) will increase and your online authority will get a noticeable
boost resulting in more of your content showing up in Google Search right along your picture.

Strategy #2:  Google News
 Have Your Content Displayed on Google News!
Helps feature you alongside trending news and subconsciously connect your content
with the current topics in the media.
The Basics:
How would you like for your content to show up ON Google News, alongside the Top Stories? How many
more eyes do you think your content will get? How much more authority and immediate credibility will it give
your own content?

The Strategy:
So let’s get you on the news!
1. Log into your Google+ Account
2. Head over to Google News
3. Choose your category, or Search for your keywords in the Search Box inside News.
4. Click on See Realtime Coverage

5. Share your thoughts under the Google+ Discussion on the right
TIP: Notice all the other posts that are also covering this topic ­ that’s your audience. Engage with
them: comment, +1 and share.
6. A pop up window pops up when you click on Share your thoughts under the Google+ Discussion on
the right. This is where you add your content and your insights and this content will show up as a
top Post to the right of the news story.
Before you click Share, make sure that you are sharing it with the Public
7. PS. Be aware that the posts show up based on how recency ­ those recently posted show up first.
So don’t be shy about posting multiple times a day

The Results: your content to show up ON Google News, alongside the Top Stories, increasing
visibility to your content, clicks and engagement, leading to higher authority and subliminal association of
you with the trending news.
Strategy #3: Ripples
Helps you  find the movers and shakers in your market who will be your best affiliates,
without asking to share in your profits.
The Basics:
Google+ Ripples creates an interactive graphic of the public shares of any public post or URL on Google+ to
show you how it has rippled through the network and help you discover new and interesting people to follow.
Ripples shows you:
● Who has publicly shared a post of URL and the comments they’ve made
● How a post or URL was shared over time
● Statistics on how a post or URL was shared.
Google provides you with post analytics that allow you to see all the activity on your posts. When a post is
shared more than once, the View Ripples option becomes available. To access it, click on the drop down
arrow on the top right side of each post, and then click on View Ripples:

Doing so, will open a new page displaying all the activity on your post:
Notice the last column on the bottom left ­ Influencers, this column allows you to find the people whose
network resonates with your content and engage with them directly. (Privacy: Google only shows the
Public shares of your posts. Those posts that were shared with specific circles and people stay private)
Meaning that by building relationships with my top influencers, they will continue to share my content and
and expose it to an interested audience who shares it further, thus expanding my reach to those who
haven’t heard of me yet.
The Strategy:
Here’s where real strategy comes in!
From looking at this list I see that Martin Shervington’s and Lynette Young’s followers are interested in my
content because they shared it the most.
By finding out who THEIR top influencers are, I can build relationships with them as well, and expand my
reach even further.

How to find the top influencers of your top influencers?
By building relationships with those who share our content, we are building a network that continues to
spread our message without relying on one or two people sharing it with their network first. For example, if I
build relationships with those who share Lynette’s content, my posts will continue to be shared even when
Lynette stops sharing them.
To achieve that, we first need to find our top influencers (like Lynette)’s top shared posts that are most
relevant to the content we usually share.
We can do it by using GooglePlusSumoi  ­ a popular Finish site that filters Google+ activity based on
popular posts, number of comments, number of +1, etc.
The home page displays the top influencers in Finland, but we can use this link ­
http://www.googleplussuomi.com/timelinetest.php?googleid=106909313027624222688&sort=best and
replace the GoogleID number with the number of the influencer you want to check:
1. Go to your Google+ Influencer’s Profile ­ Lynette Young for example,
2. Grab her GoogleID number from her profile URL.
It’s very likely that your Influencer’s URL doesn’t have their GoogleID number and has a vanity URL
instead: https://plus.google.com/+LynetteYoung/posts Here’s how you find their GoogleID:
a. Right click on ANY post date, and copy the link address.
b. Paste the link in NotePad and you’ll have their GoogleID number (in this case it’s
106600962597764825745)
3. Now that you have their number, click on this link:
http://www.googleplussuomi.com/timelinetest.php?googleid=106909313027624222688&sort=best
4. Replace the number in the googleid= field with the GoogleId of your influencer, and you’ll be able to

see their most popular posts.
5. Scroll down their posts and find the ones that you would have posted yourself. They are the
most likely to resonate with both you and Lynnet’s audience.
6. When you find a post you like, click on the blue link on the bottom of the post: Read on G+ to go
directly to the Google+ post itself.

10. Engage and build real relationships.
The Results:
Identifying the influencers and fostering collaborative relationships will result in high engagement on your
own posts, shares and comments that increase your Google authority, eventually leading to your content
becoming more and more organically visible on Google Search.
Tip: Run the same process on the influencers of your influencers as well...add them to your
circles, build relationships that convert into shares and authority.
