fur trappers.
Lived in small villages and towns.
Built community longhouses.
5. Great Plains
Lived between the Mississippi River and Rocky Mountains.
Tribal Groups include:
Sioux
Comanche
Omaha
Cheyenne
Crow
Blackfoot
Were nomadic hunters.
Relied heavily on the buffalo.
6. Southwestern
Lived in Southwestern U.S.
Tribal groups
include:
Navajo
Apache
Hopi
Farmed in the river
valleys of Arizona
and New Mexico

evidence we have comes from this cullture group
7. Arctic/Subarctic
Lived in Northern U.S./Canada

Survive in freezing
temperatures by fishing
and hunting.

8. California/Great Basin
Lived in Western U.S. between the
Great Plains and the West Coast.

very rugged, dry area with harsh
weather.

Expert fishermen, craftsmen
