Blood is a fluid that flows through veins, helping keep the body healthy. It is made up of red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets suspended in plasma. Blood sustains life by carrying oxygen and nutrients to tissues via the circulatory system, forming blood clots to prevent bleeding, and using white blood cells to fight infection.

Blood is a fluid that flows through the veins in your body. It helps keep
your body healthy in lots of different ways. There are eight different
Blood Types: Blood type A+, Blood type A- Blood Type B+, Blood Type
B-, Blood Type AB+, Blood Type AB-, Blood Type O+, and Blood Type O-.
Fun Fact:
The most rare blood type out of 100 people is AB- and about one
person out of that hundred would have this blood type.

4. What Does Blood Consist Of?
Blood is made up of cells. There are 3 different types:
This makes up half of
the bloods content.
The other half is called Plasma.

6. How Does Blood Help to Sustain Our
Lives?
Blood helps to sustain our lives by:
- All of the systems that it takes part in and what blood is made up of. One of the systems where blood is real important is The Circulatory
System.
- When the Aorta pushes blood to the body, the red blood cells supply oxygen to the body tissue.. Getting oxygen to the body tissue is very
important because our body tissue needs to breath. Kind of like a human or a plant.
-Platelets help sustain our lives by making blood clots. We need blood clots because if we started bleeding at all them we wouldn’t stop.
-White Blood Cells help to sustain our lives by fighting infections in our bodies. Any germs or infections in our bodies will be attacked by
WBCs.
-Plasma helps sustain our lives by making blood clots. It also carries substances through our blood. Like dissolved nutrients: Proteins,
glucose, electrolytes, and more. These dissolved nutrients go to the body tissue and muscles to supply them with “vitamins.”
