Compassion
Connection
life in action
Introduction
 Compassion, Connection and Life development in the
modern classroom has lost its p lace . Taken over by set
lesson plans, testing and data collection. All of which does
not take into consideration the student or teacher as
receptacle providers of learning.
 Compassion means bringing ones heart to the class along
with unconditional understanding of any issue that might
need to be addressed
 Connection means making the classroom environment one
of meaning and life.
 Life means giving the student an identity and role in
planning and implementing the lessons.
Fear to Dialogue
 Imagine that all students had a place where they feel safe to
express and put an end to bulling
 Free to discuss their lives and ask questions that they are
curious about or concerned about.
 This workshop helps those that work with groups to create an
environment of safety and collaboration of ideas in learning
 How to deal with the at risk children and the saboteurs
meeting the needs of all involved.
Effectively and quickly using Non Violent Communication
Techniques.
 Create quality lessons based on compassion aligned with any
curriculum
 Dealing with truth
 Listening to the needs of
students
 Lessons based on these
needs not testing
Classroom Design
 Students interacting
 Blended abilities
 Guiding through questions
 What serves the students best interest
 Democracy in the class
Compassion
Establishing the environment of learning
Students must feel safe to explore
Student driven classroom “rules”
Teacher guides lessons based on any
curriculum
Creating the rules as the students let you know
what they would like.
Surprising they are very articulate.
Connection
 Respect (privacy)
 Honesty
 No, put down no negativity towards each
other
 No Laughing at people
 No judgment
 Open mind
 Trust
 The right to stay quite and speak when
ready.
Lesson based on life
 Age differences
 Reflections built into lessons
 Student lead class
 To teach is to learn
 Teacher becomes guide
 As educators, we know that students come to the
classroom with a wealth of knowledge to share and a
plethora of experiences that contribute to their
academic environment. They are not empty vessels to
to be filled, instead, the positive exchange of
experiences and knowledge promotes growth all in the
the classroom . . . the students and teachers alike.

Shattered mirror of her former self
She’s broken like her fragile heart
Slowly she’ll pick up the pieces all herself
And reassemble a better outlook
A better outlook, that’s all she needs

Education is not the amount of information
that we put into your brain and runs riot
there, undigested, all your life. We must
have life building, man making, character
making assimilation of ideas. If you have
assimilated five ideas and made them your
life and character, you have more education
than any man who has got by heart a whole
