Azure and cloud
In this session you will learn that Azure has much more to
offer than just infrastructure services. We will cover how
Azure can be utilized for integration services (Azure App
Services), document services (Azure Document DB),
Web/Mobile Apps, Machine Learning and more. The goal
is to provide an overview of services and how they may
apply to your implementations today.

• Nearly identical to traditional on
premise servers and virtualization

• Much like VM’s they are their own isolated boxes
• However unlike VM’s that require an OS for each VM – containers can
leverage the same OS

Challenge
• ThyssenKrupp Elevator maintains more than 1.1
million elevators worldwide, including those at
some of the world’s most iconic buildings.
ThyssenKrupp wanted to better compete in its
industry by offering dramatically increased
uptime, taking preventive maintenance a step
further to predictive and even pre-emptive
service.
Solution
• ThyssenKrupp teamed up with Microsoft to
create a connected asset monitoring system
based on Microsoft Azure IoT services that
connects thousands of sensors and systems in its
elevators to the cloud and draws this data into a
dashboard available on PCs and mobile devices
for a real-time view of key performance
indicators.
