1. This is the opening shot from the opening sequence of sunset boulevard , this opening
shot shows the company that the film has been produced by , this tells the audience that
the film has been produced by a popular company suggesting that the film has a good
reputation.

2. This shot shows a sign on the street, this also show the title of the film , the sign shows the
audience the the location in which the film is set , in this case it is on a street of a district called
sunset boulevard , the style in which the ‘sunset boulevard’ sign is written is in a bold standing
out font suggesting that there is drama or possibly danger in the film .

3. This shot tells the audience about the main actors and actresses in the film , once
again the font of the text is in bold block capitals once again to show the audience
the main actors and that they will be the main attractions in the movie.

4. In this shot the a series of motorcycles and cars racing down the street, this suggests that
there is a rush going on and everyone in this particular shot is trying to get to it.

5. This shot shows the vehicles heading towards the
event, there is also palm tree’s in the shot suggesting that
the area that they are in is either near a beach or they are
in a posh area.

6. In this shot the cars from the previous shot are now
shown to be police cars, this suggests that some sort
of crime has been committed ,possibly a murder
which is also a convention of film noir.

7. This shot shows many policemen running towards a swimming
pool, in the swimming pool there is an object floating in the
water, this could possibly be a human meaning that a possible
murder has been commited , this explains why the police are

8. This shot reveals that the object in the swimming pool is infact a
person , it also shows many men with camera’s at the side of the
pool suggesting that this is a crime scene.

9. This shot shows the dead body in the water showing that there
has been a possible murder , this is also another key convention
of film noir.
