7. The earth moved as never before…

8. TWO-THIRD of the total area of Pakistan is on fault lines that
cause tremor any time. The experts have expressed fears that
ignoring the fault lines while making big structures in cities
may cause huge loss to life and property.

9. Roads were ripped apart

11. Mother nature brought down everything

12. On October 8th 2005 a devastating earthquake hit the
northern part of Pakistan. With the death toll around
ninety thousand. Currently 3 million people are still
homeless.

13. There were over 50, 000 dead

14. There was no where to go

15. There was no shoulders to lean against

16. Many survived…but just barely

17. Faces were enough to tell the story

18. Even the clouds looked distant

19. People were still coming down from the mountains trying to find
shelter and were suffering from trauma. Winter was on the way
and the need for shelter was urgent.

structures and the construction practices play a
tremendousroleinthedeathtollofanearthquake.
Building practices can make all the difference in earthquakes,
evenamoderaterupturebeneathacitywithstructuresunpreparedfor
shakingcanproducetensofthousandsofcasualties.
