2. • Founded in 1986
• Made into an S corporation
in order to protect Frank
from losing his personal
assets
• Frank has been producing
artificial limbs and braces for
patients
• For the past 26 years he has been
working out of Milton hospital
3. Business got started when Frank decided to go into the
business for himself.
Instead of working for someone else and making a
small amount of what he could make if he went into
the business for himself.
Using his own personal assets and no outside loans he
setup his business.
After deciding to go into business for himself he went
back to school and went through an MBA and
residency through Springfield College
26 years after starting South Shore Orthopedic and
working by himself he now has 5 employees and many
happy customers.

The personal wealth that this has given to me as well
as expansion of the company
Most rewarding about running business?
Being able to make my own personal decision
instead of having to default to someone else
5. Challenges?
FINANCING!!!! Financing is the biggest challenge
facing me
Fatal Flaws?
Not being able to stop working in order to stay on
top of the competition and also the orders
6. Biggest Competitor?
Hangar Corp. it is a larger company
Competitive edge?
Hard work, always available, always keep promises
7. Best way that you market your business?
Referrals, word of mouth. Working in the hospital
allows for Doctors and Physical Therapists to just
send their patients to me.
What do you look for in an employee?
Someone who is self motivated, easily trained and
personable
8. What is the future hold for you and your
business?
Due to being 63 years old and close to
retirement, I hope to be able to sell the company
or scale it back to a smaller size. I wants to be
able to retire instead of having to work.
9. Why would you choose
to work in the Hospital?
Working in the hospital is
the best location possible
for someone in this line of
work. Being there allows
the patients to go straight
from the Doctors office
down to Frank to set an
appointment or to be set
for an artificial limb.
10. Each year since the
earthquake in Haiti
Frank has donated
his time in order to
help the people their
who lost limbs and
need artificial limbs.

11. Advice?
Be aware, be ready to work. Be ready for the stresses
and work hard.
What did I learn?
I learned that in order to run my own personal business
I have to be well aware of the severe risks that I may be
imposing on not just my life at work but also on my life
at home. Having to work long hours in order to keep
my business afloat would not be something I would
want to do but it must be done in order to stay on top.
