OK well since you've completed your course in dermatology, studied the effects of UV radiation on
skin, talked to sufferers of skin cancer and don't mind having blotchy, wrinkled sagging skin when
you're older I'll give you some advice.
I used tanning beds for 7 years but I don't know what a "level 4" bed is. I used to go by the wattage
of the tubes. 200w were the most powerful. I started at 3 or 4 minutes and worked up to the
maximum of 12 minutes over 2 or 3 weeks. Some beds use low UVB bulbs which allows you longer.
Talk to the salon employee for information about their beds and check the wattage on the bulbs
New bulbs, if they were fitted within the last week or so are MUCH more likely to burn you. You
need to cut your minutes in half. Again, the salon employee should give you info on that and will
know when the bulbs are run in enough.
Ergoline are I believe the leading brand in tanning beds. Basically just be careful and work up
gradually. Good luck.
