2. There are four types of sentences
• Declarative
• Interrogative
• Imperative
• Exclamatory
3. Declarative
• A declarative sentence
is a sentence that
forms a statement
• For example: Lyric
heard a bat screeching
in the cave.
• Usually a declarative
sentence would end
with a period at the
end.
• This is a declarative
sentence because it
tells what Lyric heard
while she was in the
cave.
4. Interrogative
• A interrogative sentence
is a sentence that asked a
question that is suppose
to have a answer or reply
• For example: Why is that
lion roaring at everyone?
• Interrogative sentences
usually end with a
question mark.
• This is a interrogative
sentence because it ask
a question that is meant
to be answered.
5. Imperative
• A imperative sentence is a
sentence that gives a
strict command or
request to another person
• For example : April go
clean up your room now?
• Usually a imperative
sentence ends with a
period.
• This is a imperative
sentence because its
telling the young girl
April to go and clean
her room.
6. Exclamatory
• A exclamatory sentence
is a sentence that
shows excitement in the
sentence.
• For example : I love
your hair!
• Usually a exclamatory
sentence usually ends
with a exclamation
mark.
• This is a exclamatory
sentence because it
shows that I’m excited
about how her hair
looks.
7. Simple sentence
• A simple sentence is a
sentence consisting of
only one clause with a
single subject and
predicate.
• For example : I am
running.
• This is a simple
sentence because it
only has one
independent clause.
8. Compound sentence
• A compound sentence
is a sentence with more
than one subject or
predicate.
• For example: john
bought some new
shoes, and he wore
them to school.
• This is a compound
sentence because it has
to predicates.
9. Complex sentence
• A complex sentence is a
sentence containing a
subordinate clause or
clauses
• For example: After I
came home, I made
dinner
• This is a complex
sentence because it has
one independent clause
and one dependent
clause.
