In advertisement number one and two, BMW uses plenty of eye grasping tactics. The
main eye grasper is obviously the sex scene going on in advertisement one, and the
very attractive women in ad two. BMW uses these attractive people to set a good
feeling mood, because they want the consumer to be in a good mood and open
minded about the product trying to be sold.

The way the camera is focused in ad one creates a feeling of intimacy, it is head on as
if you are there in the room in that women’s bed. The setting of this advertisement is
very important because it gives the viewer a comfortable and relaxing place which
could symbolize the way that car will make you feel. In advertisement two the camera
is at a birds eye view but very close up as if you are on top of that beautiful women
giving the man a feeling of dominance and control.

There are also very small bold words in both of these advertisements in advertisement
one it says “the ultimate attraction”, telling the viewer the attraction you feel for this car
will be so intense you have to have one. However, in advertisement number two it
says, “you know your not the only one”, meaning that even though this is a used car
you should not care because the car is nice, and you will still have bragging rights for
driving it; people will still be impressed.

The beautiful people in these advertisements are also very important to attracting the
viewer. These types of people are used because the manufacturer wants one to think if
they have this car this is how people will look at you.

In advertisement number one the man is having sex with a women with an attractive
body, however her face is covered by a red BMW. This is a metaphor saying that if you
have this car it will be like being with a girl with a hot body. Every man wants a woman
with a beautiful body and BMW knows the same goes for men and cars, every man
wants a car with a nice body and nice exterior

Another very important symbol in ad number one is the color of the car. The car is red
on purpose; red coloring stands for leadership and ambition. This gives a person a
sense of dominance. It is also a very masculine color, which the advertisement is
focused on.

. The women audience can see this as sexist. In advertisement one they are taking a
women and covering her face, showing that she is unimportant in this advertisement.
The only job that woman’s body has in this advertisement is to grasp the attention of
the men, and symbolize the car. The woman in this advertisement is nothing but an
object and is not suppose to be seen as anymore then that. This is similar in
advertisement number two. However, this woman’s face is being shown. In this

The main story being told in advertisement number on is, if you buy this BMW you will
be like this man, and you will be cool, and people will be proud and envious of what
you have. The message in advertisement two is, you know you are not the only person
who drove this car because it is used, but who cares?, you will look cool driving it and
you will still be able to brag about what you have.
