The current 2010 NAR Homebuyers Guide to
Buyers and Sellers tells us that over 70% of
consumers are shopping for property online.
That said, you should make sure that you
have internet presence. We will
additionally incorporate some social media
strategies and “must-do’s,” but there are
other ways that you can generate internet
presence and also BRAND YOU! How many
of you have:
40. * Your own website address? Where you are branding yourself?
* Do not market the association website as your main website.
You can use the association site as your main site, just don’t
market it. Instead, market yourself. Here is what I mean, I
have a site through HAR.com:
www.har.com/tarajordantallon. Instead of marketing this, I
purchased www.taratallon.com and I have my site point to
my HAR site. This way, I can market Tara Tallon.
* Purchase a marketable domain through a domain registry and
forward that domain to the association site. Some domain
registries are: www.GoDaddy.com, www.mydomain.com,
www.internetcrusade.com, www.register.com, or
www.networksolutions.com.
*
41. * Your own personalized e-mail
address?
* The ability for your buyers to
search from your website?
* Video?
* A blog?
* eNewsletter?
* Links and badges from your
website to other sites, such as
your social media sites.
*
42. * Recently, a member walked into HAR with a brand new iPad and asked me, “can you
please help me to practice real estate using this? How can I use my new iPad to
improve my business and impress my clients? And, my goal is going to be for my
clients to use my iPad while I’m with them showing property.” After sharing with
him a few ideas and tips, I decided to write this article. I have found that many
REALTORS® are interested in Social Media and technology and believe it can help
them in their business, but don’t know exactly how, why or how to get started.
Additionally, there seems to be a broad spectrum of knowledge about Social Media
ranging from REALTORS® that may or may not have a Facebook page to expert
bloggers. Wherever you are in the spectrum, there are always new ways to improve
your real estate practice using Social Media.

43. * Facebook- www.facebook.com. Yf you don’t
already have an account, set one up. You
can very easily and very inexpensively
reconnect with your sphere of influence and
others as well. Remember: you can set your
preferences and privacy settings so that only
certain groups can see your posts, pictures,
or information. If you already are already
using Facebook, create a Facebook Fan page
for business.

. This will allow you to market properties
through posting listing, sharing photos and
videos, announcing open houses, and perhaps
markets and articles. Be sure to also build

44. *Twitter-www.twitter.com.
Set-up a Twitter account if
you don’t already have one
and use it to engage
people, drive consumers to
your website, market
listings and create brand
recognition just to name a
few.
45. * LinkedIn- www.linkedin.com. Make sure that you have
set up a LinkedIn account. If you have an existing
LinkedIn account, make sure that all of the
information is updated and accurate to date. There
are far too many inaccurate profiles on LinkedIn.
Consider the following scenario: After meeting with
new potential clients, they check your profile on
LinkedIn only to find out that you are not with the
same company or perhaps you are newer to the
business and still show in the market for employment
or working at your last job.
