2. What is hallux valgus
A bunion is a bony deformity of the joint at the base of the big toe where the big toe
becomes angled outwards towards the middle of the foot and second toe.
The medical name for a bunion is hallux valgus. The front part of the foot is made up
of five bones called the metatarsals. Due to the deformity the top of the first
metatarsal is forced to stick out from the side of the foot at the base of the big toe. If
this happens, the bones can become misaligned and a painful bunion can form. This
causes a bump to seem on the outside edge of your toe. Bunion (Hallux Valgus) is
more common in women and can occasionally run in families. People born with
abnormal bones in their feet are more probable to form a bunion (Hallux Valgus).
Wearing high-heeled shoes, narrow-toed may lead to the development of a bunion
