2. What is the Project for?
Turning this….
The station buildings on
Platform 1 at Yatton
Railway Station
Into this!
3. Who’s running it?
Strawberry Line Café Project Community Interest Company
• 3 directors, working in a voluntary capacity
• Close partnership with the Brandon Trust
• Any profits are ‘locked in’, to be used for the benefit of the project
• This status allows the company to carry out trade
4. How will it benefit Yatton?
• A community café and meeting place, filling a gap in the North of the
village
• Employment and training opportunities for local people, including those
with learning difficulties, referred by the Brandon Trust
• An added attraction to the Strawberry Line, in a perfect position at the
start of the route
• A much-needed facility for railway users, providing refreshments and a
comfortable waiting area
• Bringing back into use an important and historic building
5. What stage is the project at?
• We need around £180,000 in building costs to restore the Grade II listed
building, provide services, and fit it out as a café
• We have planning permission and listed building consent
• We have agreed a 15 year lease with Network Rail/First Great Western
• We have raised almost £87,000 in grants and funds raised or pledged
• We have a website, lots of supporters, and pro-bono contributions from
many of them
6. What other funding
applications have we made?
• Big Lottery Fund: our expression of interest approved, invited to
make a full application
• SW Regional Development Agency: expression of interest approved,
invited to make a full application
• Heritage Lottery Fund: waiting to hear if application has been
successful
