Dress for It! Be ready for your next job interview. It could come at any time. And guess what? You will have competition. Dress for the job you want and let your employer see it.
3. PRESENTATION IS EVERYTHING!
▪ How you are dressed for an interview does matter!
▪ Imagine yourself as an Employer. Would you not want the
jobseeker to look like they put forth an effort?
▪ What type of job are you interviewing for?
▪ Research the company
▪ Ask the HR rep what the interview dress code is
▪ Always. Always. Always. At least dress Business Casual.
Khaki/cotton pants
Dress shirt. Tuck the shirt in and wear a belt.
You can afford to dress the part.
Goodwill, Salvation Army, Consignment stores all have very nice dress DRESS FOR
clothes to chose from if you are on a budget.
WHAT’S NEXT!
5. EMPLOYERS NOTICE!
▪ We’ve all heard it, “You only get one chance to make a 1st Impression.”
▪ You are not the only game in town, so practice beating the interview
competition.
▪ Learning Example:
▪ You go to the grocery store. You have a selection of canned vegetables.
One of the can’s has a dent. You pick over it and chose the nicer looking
can with no dents.
▪ Moral: If you are going to pick over a dented can won’t other people do the
same?
▪ Dress to impress so you are the one that is picked. A nice enough suit
will cover up any “dents”.
DRESS TO
IMPRESS!
7. HERE’S LOOKING AT YOU!
▪ Ask a friend to critique your clothing before you leave for the
interview or to attend a job fair.
▪ No matter what type of job you want, or that you get an
interview for, dress for success. Go back to Slide #3…at least
business casual.
HARD FACT #1: How we dress also says a lot about how we see
ourselves. If I believe I am successful I will look
successful.
HARD FACT #2: An employer wants to believe in you and he or
she can only believe what they see. The first
impression YOU GIVE THEM needs to be better
than your competition. DRESS FOR
SUCCESS!
