How to Create a Strong Social Media Presence
1. How to create a strong social media presence
You may have heard the famous saying, "You do not get a second chance to make a
first impression". Well, in the online space it counts even more. People have
a limited attention span, when it comes to browsing the Internet. They move
very fast. That's one of the reason why the computer manufacturers use "fast"
in the marketing. They know how impatient we can be.
So, your social media presence needs to be optimized and targeted so that the
moment someone sees it, they will "get it". You want them to not only get it,
but also go further, either continue reading your entire profile, visit your
website or download your free offer.
So here are a few steps to take to create a strong social media presence that
will attract your ideal clients and bring you constant leads:
1) Have a consistent profile photo across all your social media platforms.
Use a nice professional photo of yourself. It is important that you display a
profile picture, not your logo or a picture of your product. In the social
media space, you need to be the face of your business, not your logo. You can
incorporate your branding in other ways.
2) Create a bio/profile summary that speaks directly to your prospective
clients Here's what I tell my clients: your social media profiles should
communicate what you do, how you help people and what kind of results they can
get from working with you. Resist the temptation to bullet point a laundry list
of services. Focus on the benefits and results clients will receive when they
work with you. If you are a service professional, people will look at your
marketing materials with a "What's in it for me" view. So speak to that and
your ideal clients will hear it loud and clear.
3) Cross-promote your social media profiles and website Promote all your
social media profiles respectively as space permits. On Facebook, personal
profile and fan page, promote your Twitter profile, YouTube Channel, Linkedin
profile, Pinterest and your website.
4) Don't get too social Focus on 2 or 3 profiles where you will be present and
active, engaging with your followers. Signing up for every single social media
network and there are many, will be difficult to keep up with. This can truly
water down your efforts and make your social media marketing less effective.
5) Link your accounts where possible Link your Facebook Fan Page to your
Twitter account. So your Facebook posts will show there as well. They will also
see activity on your Facebook Fan Page, like when you have uploaded pictures.
This may peak your Twitter followers' curiosity and encourage them to "like"
your Facebook Fan Page if they haven't already. You can link your YouTube
Channel to Twitter so your followers will know when you have uploaded a new
video. A great way to update your profiles with new blog posts is activating
the auto share feature in feedburner. So my accounts are linked there too.
