2. VIVA
• In the United Kingdom and Ireland, VIVA launched on 26 October 2009,
replacing TMF (The Music Factory).
• Viva was originally a German music and entertainment channel.
• The music channels shown are Viva Playlist, Official Singles Chart, Official
UK Urban Top 20, This Weeks Viva Top 20, Official Chart Update and Viva
Online Chart.
• As well as music shows Viva also plays programmes such as Jersey Shore,
16 and Pregnant, The Hills, Teen Mom and My Super Sweet 16.
My chosen artist has appeared on this channel a few times before with many
of her music videos. However, I feel she has appeared more on other
channels that are more of a pop based music channel.

3. SMASH HITS
Smash Hits! is a British commercial television channel provided by Box
Television. The channel broadcasts general pop music in shows such as
Chartbusters, which is recent music and Pop Domination, which is new and
old music. It also shows other programmes such as themed countdowns and
charts such as Top 50 Boy Bands. The channel also has hours dedicated to a
particular artist or band such as Pussycat Dolls: Ultimate 10. It is based on
the former Smash Hits Magazine, which was owned by EMAP.
As this channel is a pop based channel I feel this would be the channel that my
chosen artist would appear mostly on. I have seen her music videos on this
channel many times before and feel that this channel would be suitable for
my music video creation.

4. THE BOX
• The Box is a television channel in the United Kingdom and Ireland. The
channel is one of many within the Box Television network, a joint venue
between Channel 4 and Bauer Group. The channel mainly broadcasts music
videos, although it also features other music-related programming from
4Music. The channel broadcasts 24 hours a day with teleshopping shown
late at night.
• The music shows on the box are fresh music top 10, UKHot40: Top 40,
UKHot40: Top 20, Urban Top 20 and RnB Top 20.
This channel is similar to smash hits and 4music as they are provided by the
same company, however the box focuses on all music genres, so I feel that
my artist would be played more regularly on other channels such as smash
hits.

5. MTV
• MTV, formerly an initialism of Music Television, is an American
network based in New York City that launched on August 1, 1981.The
original purpose of the channel was to play music videos guided by on-air
hosts known as VJs.
• MTV is famous for playing music concerts on the television programme
and also hosting award shows such as MTV Music Video Awards.
• As well as having the MTV programme, they also have other channels such
as MTV Base, MTV Hits, MTV Dance and MTV Rock.
As MTV is an American based music channel, I feel this would be a suitable
channel for my artist to appear on. This is because my artist is an American
artist. However, I feel my artist would most likely to appear more on MTV
Hits rather than the main MTV channel.

6. 4 MUSIC
• 4Music is a music and entertainment channel in the United Kingdom
and available on some digital television providers in the Republic of
Ireland - It is the only channel within the Box Television Network to be
branded under Channel 4 and is one of the only channels in the network
to be broadcast in widescreen. The channel replaced The Hits. It is
available on Freeview, Virgin Media & Sky.
• The channel broadcasts 24 hours a day.
4 Music would be a suitable channel for my music video to be shown on. This
is because the channel is aimed mainly around the pop genre. I have seen
many of Taylor Swifts videos played on this channel previously and this
channel would be appropriate for my music video.

7. My Chosen Music Channel
The music channel I have chosen is Smash Hits, the reason I have chosen this
music channel is because it is a pop based channel. As my artist Taylor Swift
is a pop/country pop artist I feel this channel would be suitable for my
chosen artist. Many of her other music videos have already been shown on
the channel and I feel my music video would be appropriate for this music
channel. This is why I have chosen this music channel.
