Comparing Brothers Jakob And Wilhelm Grimm
Brothers Jakob and Wilhelm Grimm were ninetieth century scholars known for their work in fairy
tales such as Rapunzel, Cinderella and many more. Both brothers were born in Hanau, Germany,
Jakob in the year 1785 and Wilhelm following in 1786 (Encyclopedia of World Biography 1). Their
father, Wilhelm Grimm died in 1798 leaving the family dependent on their grandfather and aunt (P.
Malone 6). The brothers, their mother Dorothea Grimm and four other siblings, then moved in with
their aunt. Thanks to their aunt, Jakob and Wilhelm were able to join a high school called, "Luceum
Fridericianum", In Kassel, Germany (Rita Amend 1). They then attended The University of Marburg
for legal studies, academically following their father who was a jurist (B. Myint 1). The death of
their father reduced the boys to poverty, because of their low status in society they required special
passes to study law (P. Malone 6). Along with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

first two volumes. In 1830 both Jakob and Wilhelm obtained positions at The University of
Gottingen, where they worked as professors (D. L. Ashliman 1). Jakob and Wilhelm Grimm did
more than just rewrite German tales, as philologist and professors they also wrote about medieval
studies and mythology. In 1835 Jakob published, "Deutsche Mythologie" a book on German
mythology (B. Myint 1). Their careers as professors did not last long as they there soon fired for
protesting against King Ernest August of Hanover (D. L. Ashliman 1). Although not completed, the
brother did start working on a German dictionary, unfortunately they were only able to make it to
the letter F before they both died (B. Myint 1). Wilhelm died in December 1859 followed by Jakob
in September 1863, the brothers left behind their collection of around two–hundred fairy tales and
many other text such as: Deutsche Mythologie and their unfinished German language dictionary (D.

The Grim Brothers Jakob Grimm the older brother was born on January 4, 1785 and his younger
brother Wilhelm Grimm was born February 24, 1786 both of them were born in Hanau Germany
and were both the oldest surviving children out of 6 including them from Dorothea and Philip
Grimm. As young kids they spent most of their time together beside from spending a long period of
time apart they were together for the rest of their lives. Their low temper made it easy to cooperate
and work together on projects. The primary difference between the two brothers was that Jakob the
healthier had more of a drive for research and ihe was the one who worked on most of their theories
of grammar and language. Wilhelm was physically weaker but he was a warmer

Perta Monologue
I feel alone, isolated beyond everything around me. It's like I'm not really there. Not alive. It's like
I'm one of the statues, watching, but unable to do anything. A rock suddenly hits me square in the
chest, and I bend to its force, as burning air sears my lungs. I must've been holding my breath, as my
lungs gasp for more air. Another rock grazes my shoulder, falling straight into my hands. I stand,
holding the rock in my hand. The soldier makes his way to Sara, as I stand by unable to stop him. I
see Hanau, and I try to catch his attention before I lose him in the crowd again. I can't see Sara, but
she is probably lying on the ground, in shock from being pushed away by her mother. The crowd
shifts and the soldiers are pushed towards Sara. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
"Wow, Sara, that color's amazing on you." Sara nods, and says "It's Mother's favorite color." She
starts to cry, but Hanau scoops her up and twirls her around until she's giggling. The door opens, and
I see the mass of people left at the door as only Perta steps into the room. Hanau sets Sara down, and
we follow Perta into the room. Perta invites us to sit down, so we do, all on the same pillow. Perta
sits across from us and looks tired as he tries to shake the sleep out of his eyes. Two servants,
Egyptian women, come in and serve us drinks filled with ice, and sweet things on trays. One of the
women looks at me, and I can hear her say something rude about my stench to the other women.
Little does she know I can understand, and speak her language. Hanau hears them too and gives me
a look to not start something. He can understand them too, having had the same training in
languages I had. Sara looks at both of us and ignores us as she takes an iced drink off one of the
women's trays. "So, you hide in that temple, staying out of trouble, and then decide to all go down to
the prison courtyards to get yourselves killed?" Perta asks, his eyebrow rose, expecting an
explanation. I answer his question with one of my

Paul Hindemith Research Paper
Paul Hindemith was conceived in the German town of Hanau in 1895, on December 16. We may
expect that Hindemith felt a draw in the musical direction from an early age; Paul's dad was a
painter and did not need his child turning into a musician, so our little writer–to–be fled at 11 years
old, and began his own life. Paul taught himself the violin and viola and started gaining his living by
playing at Cafes and other such foundations. Inevitably, Hindemith took in the fundamentals of all
the instruments that mattered, so he could play them, at any rate, acceptable, however, he was
clearly a virtuoso at his viola and viola d'amor.
Up until around 1925, Hindemith was entirely customary, coming about carelessly with the musical
standards of his time. However, in 1925, he turned out with "Kammermusik", his first
straightforwardly tonal creation. The piece was illustrative of new thoughts and raised heaps of talk
when it was performed at the Venice Festival of the International Society of Contemporary Music.
Before he knew it, Paul was a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Later on in the thirties, Hindemith started to feel in charge of an ethnic immaculateness in his music,
a conviction, without a doubt aroused by the Nazi hostile to musical advancement developments
going ahead at the time. Additionally amid this period, he proceeded on from chamber attempts to a
more noticeable inclination to Symphonic composition. While at this stage, his music got to be
"smoother" and less centered around counterpoint. In 1937–39, Hindemith wrote extensively on the
properties from the scale degrees and intervals in rankings from consonant to dissonant, in Craft of
Musical Composition. In this later period after the distribution of his compositions, Hindemith
composed concertos and sonatas for a large part of the standard

The Fairy Tales By Charles Perrault And The Grimm Brothers
Introduce the Issue When we were young kids, our parents filled our heads with fairy tales for
entertainment before it was time for bed. Cinderella is one of the main told fairy tales handed down
from one generation to the next. This story appears in the folklore of many cultures. There are
between 350 and 1500 different translations of this story in the world today. We don 't know exactly
who first wrote this popular story, but there has been some talks about the Italians creating the first
version. The first written version was published in Napoli by Giambattista Basile, in his
Pentamerone (1634). The story was based in the Kingdom of Napel. It was later revised, along with
other Basile 's tales, by Charles Perrault and in the Grimm brothers folk tale collection Grimm's '
Fairy Tales (1812). The Grimm brother 's Fairy Tales were not meant for children. The stories
routinely included sex, violence, incest, and copious footnotes. Worst of all, they didn't even have
illustrations. The brothers thought their main readers were adults, but surprisingly their main readers
were young boys and girls. When they realized the age of readers, they tried to rewrite the story into
a much delicate and happier story. Although they tried to make the fairytales tasteless, the stories
main idea was still about sex and violence. Cinderella was a story about a young woman whose life
was flipped upside down when her mother died and father remarried. Living in an abusive
household, Cinderella

I Won T Do It, Ari-Personal Narrative

things from the hallway. "I care for Nola too. She's like my own sister, you know that. But that
man... You know he won't help us, and it'll end up with all of us responsible for murdering a man
following orders, or us dead." I can't move. Hanau, my best friend, one of the only people I counted
on no matter what is walking away from me. He starts off, his steps echoing off the cold, hard stone,
matching the beating of my aching heart. But then he stops mid–step. I hold my breath. I wish– no,

Unable to do anything but sit there in the same spot, I watch the doorway, as though he would come
back if I didn't move. I don't cry until the others are asleep. I've heard of shattered hearts, broken
hearts, but I don't feel like that. It's like a crushing weight that presses on my body. It's something I
fight with every breath to rise against, and every time it takes a little more of me. How could he
leave me? How could he make me choose? I try to sleep, but it won't come. I keep rubbing my
thumb and thinking about the last words I said to Hanau. I can't sleep, not even close my eyes, for
when I do, I see his face, hear the last thing he said to me. It'll happen, and it'll change everything.
The rest of them sleep soundly, and I start counting Tussah's snores to pass the time. They went to
bed the moment they got back. They spent the day scouting out the alley, going over the plan, and
even sewing a dress for Gota to wear. They left me alone. They knew better than to try to make light
of what just happened. The last time I was in this mood, I had seen Jerrod hit Nola across the face. I

The Odyssey: A Short Story
It's dangerous work yes, but it's vital, and it does come with perks. Education can mean life or death
in such an unpredictable world, and Father says that when everyone in the church is educated in
such things as reading and counting, let alone the full breadth of a messenger's training, then the
church is better for it. I feel a large hand rest on my shoulder, and hear Father whisper into my ear.
"Does it bring back any memories, Ari?" he asks. "Seeing the new ones. It seems like just yesterday
you wouldn't move unless Hanau was right there in front of you. I just wish this news was not
coming to us, not now." He flicks the tip of the quill in my hair like he always does. I turn and look

Slavers had become more brazen in their takings, and now we know why. Slave markets always
suffered when politics was unstable. They were boosting their take before profit suffered. Who
would buy slaves when the Senate could not sign off on sales? This is why merchants are fleeing the
city. Father's right, the storm is already here, and it will grow even more with the arrival of Emperor
Diocletian. One of the men catches my attention as he walks out of the council room. It's Perta. I
nod to Father, but he ignores me. Perta rarely comes to the church, so few times that I can count
them on one hand. He stares at Father and walks straight towards us. "The people trust the Senate to
do what best by them, and to keep peace in the city and its outlying territories," says Perta. He puts
his hand on Father's shoulder, but Father shakes him off. "Peaceful people are people who pay taxes
to run the Empire, without them, the Empire would suffer," Perta says, his robes, slashed with purple
marked his status as Senator. "Yes, and what will the Senate do now?" Father asks him. "Caught
between a rock and a hard place? I know where you stood on that tax of his. You will stand by your
principles, faced with treason?" He's furious with Perta, and both men stare at each other, silent until

The Grimm Brothers Essay
The Grimm Brothers
Any good fairy tale may captivate a child's (or adult's) mind, but few could argue that, to be truly
enchanting, a tale needs great illustrations. Two of the most influential fairy tale tellers in history
were the German Grimm brothers, Jacob and Wilhelm. Both very intelligent scholars, they knew
how to spin a tale in the most effective way possible. However, they had plenty of work just dealing
with the tales' text, so in the area of illustration, they let their younger brother Ludwig take over,
beginning with the second edition of their fairy tales.
The fifth child of six in the Grimm family, Ludwig, who was always called Louis, did not
necessarily follow in the scholarly footsteps of his two older brothers. ... Show more content on

His landscapes included tranquil pastoral views from his home principality of Hesse–Kassel and
busy urban scenes from cities like Berlin. He also pictured the interiors of buildings and gardens,
often with grand parties and important meetings shown in their midst. Showing an interest in nature,
Ludwig even made drawings of some varieties of plants and insects. He worked in many styles and
media, too, ranging from rough sketches to detailed engravings, from blurred watercolors to
meticulous drawings. One of Ludwig's greatest artistic gifts was his ability to give very real
personalities to the faces of his subjects by using various facial expressions and a masterful
command of the different positions and characteristics of the eyes. This ability, along with his
interest in nature and his use of a myriad of subjects, including all types of people and landscapes,
lent itself well to the illustration of fairy tales.
The second edition of the first volume of the Grimms' Fairy Tales marked Ludwig's first
involvement with fairy tales. Achim von Arnim, who lent money, editing and publishing services,
and advice to the Grimms, had only one criticism of the enormously successful first edition of Fairy
Tales: it needed illustrations. The logical choice to fill this void in the second edition was Ludwig,
who made a series of engravings to accompany the text published in 1819. Since that book was
published, nearly every

The Influences of the Brothers Grimm Essay
"The Brothers Grimm were academics best known for publishing collections of folk tales and fairy
tales, which became massively popular." (Zipes p. 7) "Born in Hanau, Germany, a year apart, with
Jacob Ludwig Karl Grimm born the oldest, on January 4, 1985, and Wilhelm Karl Grimm on
February 24, 1786. Their family consisted of nine other siblings, six of which survived infancy, and
their parents." (Zipes p. 9) Their early childhood was described as "idyllic" with them living in a
beautiful countryside home while their father, Philip Wilhelm, was employed by the Prince of
Hessen. However, when Jacob was eleven years and Wilhelm only ten, their father died, and their

This entire collection helped establish the science of folklore. (Grimm New World Encyclopedia
p.1) Their established principles strongly affected the advancement of folklore studies. They
incorporated fidelity into their literature, without the use of add–ons, and though it was obvious that
they didn't " practice what they preached", the style of their literature, an idealized 'morality', was
much closer to reality then older thought literary repetitions that were thought to be necessary.
"They urged fidelity to the spoken text, without embellishments, and though it has been shown that
they did not always practice what they preached, the idealized 'morality' of their style was much
closer to reality than the literary retellings previously thought necessary." (Simpson & Roud p. 197)
Their belief of folklore was that it expressed moral and spiritual values of a nation, preserved by the
faithful uneducated population, and that it was made up of bits and pieces of myths and religious
values. Reflecting back on their collection, though it became immensely popular, they were
essentially a result of the linguistic research, which was the Brothers' goal. (Grimm New World
Encyclopedia p.1) It can be stated that they found inspiration in the form of their professor,
Friedrich von Savigny who seemed to awaken an interest in the past for the two young men. "Other
influences included often in the brothers' writing was the symbolism of a young girl

The Brothers Grimm, Romanticism, and Hansel and Gretel Today when one thinks about the Grimm
Brothers, they most likely think about how widespread their stories are, being that they are told in
many homes and have had many adaptations of them. This was not the case however when Jacob
and Wilhelm Grimm first started to write and collect their tales. Many were uncomfortable with
them and the very violent scenes they had. People eventually came around and Jacob and Wilhelm
became two of the most famous people in the history of things relating to literature and this shows
through their tales such as Hansel and Gretel. The Grimm Brothers were both born in Hanau

One of the few points on which all people who claimed to be a Romantic was the refutation of
enlightenment's skeptical rationalism. Romantics were more concerned with the imagination and
relied on metaphysical things, where as someone who was a part of the enlightenment movement
would claim that there is no evidence and is therefore irrational. Another point that most Romantics
agreed upon was a love and respect for nature. One a part of the enlightened movement would want
to use intellect to "master" nature while a Romantic would rather admire the beauty, wildness, and
other inspirational qualities of nature (Micale 2026). Along with the admiration of nature and the
strong use of imagination goes the strong interest in the emotions and getting in touch with one's
roots. Some topics related to the emotions heavily emphasized in Romanticism are dreams, horror,
fantasy, and madness. The Grimm Brothers were influenced by Romanticism in both this emotional
sense, their tales encompassing often times all four of the emotional ideas just stated, and by getting
back to one's roots. It was the getting back to one's roots that helped the Grimm Brothers feel led to
collect folk tales from throughout the ages ("Grimm Brothers" 838). Most of Grimm Fairy Tales are
rooted in society's problems. During this time there were many wars, plagues, and famines and there

Paul Hindemith (born 16 November 1895 in Hanau, Germany, December 28, 1963) was a German
composer of modern music. In his early creative period, he shocked the classical concert audience
with provocative novel sounds (rugged rhythms, gloomy dissonances, inclusion of jazz elements),
which gave him the reputation of a "bailout". During the period of National Socialism, a ban on the
performance of his works, which he finally responded to with emigration, first came to Switzerland,
then to the USA. In the meantime, his composition developed into a neoclassical style, dealing in a
new way with classical forms like symphony, sonata and fugue. At the same time he distanced
himself from the romantic artist's image of the genius inspired by inspiration

What Is Occlusion As A Mechanical Instrument That...
Introduction: Occlusion has been described as the most important subject in all the disciplines of
dentistry, since it represents the way the teeth come together, and functions together. In restorative
cases, where the patient is completely or partially edentulous, an articulator is needed, which is a
mechanical device the holds the opposing casts, in order to be able to study the occlusion as in the
patients mouth. This device; articulator, has different objectives and types, that will be discussed in
the coming pages. Definition: An articulator is a mechanical instrument that represents the
temporomandibular joints and jaws. The attachment between the TMJ and jaws with the maxillary
and mandibular casts simulate some or all of the mandibular movements, which takes place around
the TMJ which is capable of undergoing complex movements. An articulator is considered as any
instrument which has a movable joint on which the maxillary and mandibular casts can be mounted.
These mandibular movements can be rotation around the hinge axis, rotation around the antero–
posterior axis, rotation around the vertical axis, and translation. Numerous articulators are available
for the restoration of occlusion. Objectives: Holding the casts in the same relative position that takes
place in the mouth Allow motion similar to that TMJ's motion Duplicate the dental border
movements Diagnose dental occlusal conditions, in both, natural and artificial dentitions.

The Grimm Brothers And Fairy Tales
The Grimm Brothers are well known around the world for the fairy tales they shared to the world.
The Brothers Grimm, Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm, were German academics, linguists, cultural
researchers, lexicographers, and authors who together specialized in collecting and publishing
folklore during the 19th century. They were among the best–known storytellers of folk tales and the
popularized stories such as "Cinderella", "The Frog Prince", "Hansel and Gretel", "Rapunzel",
"Rumpelstiltskin", and "Snow White". Their first collection of folk tales, Children 's and Household
Tales, was published in 1812 (Brothers Grimm). The Grimm Brothers shared fairy tales that had
been passed down through generations, these stories changed the everyday lives of many people by
influencing their perception. This article will help to get to know the Grimm brothers from their
family origins, to what happened to their stories over years.
The Grimm Brothers originally came from Hanau, Germany. The boys grew up in a family of
eleven. Sons of Philipp Wilhelm Grimm and Dorothea Grimm, née Zimmer had nine children and
three died in infancy. Jacob and Wilhelm were the second and the third eldest in the family. In the
early 1800's, the boys began to study law at the University of Marburg. While there at the university
they began to collect folktales. After Jacob and Wilhelm's mother died, Jacob took the liberty to look

The Symphony Of Beethoven Symphony
Beethoven's Seventh Symphony showed the world not only what a nearly perfect musical
composition sounds like, but also the sheer relevance and absolute importance of historical context
in the perception of music. Written from 1811 to 1812, the piece has to this day remained one of
Beethoven's greatest works. Beethoven dedicated the symphony to Count Moritz von Fries, an
aristocrat that frequently hosted Beethoven in his more than accommodating home. The premiere for
the symphony was on December 8th, 1813 at a charity concert where the proceeds went to wounded
Austrian and Hungarian soldiers from the battle of Hanau. The symphony was immediately popular,

After underestimating the size of the French army, the allies retreated from Madrid and into a small
town in western Spain called Ciudad Rodrigo. It was at this point that the French sustained a
significant blow from the failed invasion attempt on Russia. As a result, Bonaparte withdrew a
sizable portion of troops from the western peninsular war to replenish his primary army. Meanwhile
the Duke took the time to reinforce the allied army, and began pushing the French forces out of
Madrid. 105,000 allied soldiers met the largely demoralized French army of 60,000 at Vitoria. The
Battle decisively ended the peninsular war and led to the eventual collapse of Napoleonic rule in
Europe altogether. As did most people in Europe at the time, the inhabitants of Vienna despised
Napoleon and the French in general. The victory at Vitoria therefore caused a universal sense of
celebration and euphoria to spread throughout Vienna. Originally written for the panharmonicon, a
large, automated organ capable of creating several different sound effects, Wellington's "Victory"
was changed for the orchestra. A friend of Beethoven's, Johann Nepomuk Maelzle, an engineer best
known for inventing the metronome, requested that he compose a piece that would commemorate

Jarl's Short Story: Hand Over The Girl
"Hand over the girl," Constantine says before even reaching the bottom of the stairs. Jarl pushes me
forward without question, and salutes Constantine. "Do you wish me to escort her to the cross, Sire?
Or wait for your father and the rest before nailing her up?" Jarl asks, almost growling after having to
hand me over. Constantine shakes his head. "Severus orders that his granddaughter will not be
executed this day, so you may release her," Constantine says, as though he was ordering wine. Jarl
doesn't move, as though Constantine surely hadn't said what he just said. Constantine nods. Jarl is
forced to untie my hands, and I take back my sword even as he resists. I rub my wrists to ease the
pain from the rough rope that rubbed my skin raw. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I look down, just in time to see another arrow shooting towards me. Constantine grabs onto my
shoulder for one moment, and I pitch to the left, seeing only the ground, as we both fall off the
stairs, hitting the ground below. My palms scrape against the ground, and my knee is unable to
support my weight. Jarl comes down the stairs and heads straight for us. The archer releases another
arrow in my direction, but I'm already up. Constantine picks up a sword, and races to face Jarl. The
ping of another arrow reminds me of the archer, and I pick up a discarded shield just before another
arrow flies toward me. I hear the thud as the arrow sticks into the wooden shield. I'm lucky that the
shield isn't metal, or I wouldn't be able to lift it in time. Tola runs up to me, and I see his tunic is
sprayed with blood. He doesn't seem to even see me as he rushes to aid Hanau, who is fighting three
soldiers. The archer shoots another arrow, and I quickly lower my shield to miss it from hitting my
leg. Using the shield I rush him, and ram him up against the wall. He crumples, falling to the
ground. I quickly gather his bow, and the two arrows remaining. I drop the shield across my feet, but
my arm is so tired that I can barely draw the bow, knocking the arrow, and aiming it towards across

Brothers, Ram And Carl Grimm And The Grimm Brothers
Brothers, Jacob Carl Grimm and Wilhelm Carl Grimm are known world wide as "The Grimm
Brothers". These authors are famous for their work in the history and structure of the German
language and its relationship to other languages as well as, German folklore, tales and literature.
Through their lifelong research into the German language they created their own Dictionary called,
"Grimm Law." The Brothers also, published more than two–hundred and ten German folk tales that
they created from the stories that the villagers and peasants told them. Originally, these stories were
written for adult readers and considered inappropriate for children. Many of their stories have been
adapted by companies like Disney that want to turn them into appropriate children stories or movies.
Philipp and Dorothea Grimm had nine children, all of which, did not survive to adulthood. Jacob,
was the oldest surviving of the Grimm siblings. He was born January 4, 1785 in Hanau, Germany, to
Philipp and Dorothea Grimm. One year later, on February 24, 1786 Wilhelm was born, also in
Hanau. They would have six more children before Philipp passed away in 1796. In 1798, Jacob and
Wilhelm attend secondary school in Kassel, Germany where they lived with their aunt while
acquiring an education. Dorothea, raised her six children until 1808 when she passed away. At 23
years old, Jacob is left to raise his 5 younger surviving siblings. From 1802 to 1806 Jacob, and then

I run past three streets before I finally catch up to Hanau. I watch him turn around as he comes into
the church courtyard, a smile on his face, gloating over his win. I run up to the gate, and touch the
cold iron bars as I pass through. The old tang of metal is as familiar to me as anything at home. The
high columns made of red stone mined from the eastern wilderness. The columns are carved with
the faces of saints, and angels up high towards the ceiling of the church. The columns are landmarks
in Nicomedia, standing above all the pagan temples that are marked with gray Roman stone and
plaster. For some reason, the carvers put demons being crushed by heaven at the bottom of each
column. It's supposed to be the new style of things, these demons with faces all twisted with pain

Contributions Of Prominent Women 's Islam
Contributions of Prominent Women in Islam
Context
The role of women in Islam has evolved over time. During the time of the Prophet Muhammad
(SAW), as well as the era that shortly followed the Prophet's death, women were given a great sense
of power, freedom, and rights. However, because the Quran and hadith are open to many different
interpretations, a male–dominated society began to slowly restrict the rights of women and slowly
began to push their roles towards staying within the household and being protected by being
secluded. This is evident in societies today such as Saudi Arabia. However, over history, as well as
in modern times, numerous women have overcome these obstacles and made a clear difference in
society.
Women from Prophet's ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Prophet himself once remarked that she is among the four women of mankind promised Jannah,
an extremely large honor, so when prominent women of Islam are being discussed, Khadija is one of
the first, if not the first, that comes to mind.
Aishah bint Abi Bakr
Perhaps the dearest human being to the Prophet (SAW) was his wife Aishah. She was the daughter
of one of the Prophet's closest companions, Abu Bakr, and was married to the Prophet at a young
age. She was known for spending a very large amount of time with the prophet, and among her
greatest contributions is the fact that she related a vast number of hadith from the Prophet (SAW).
According to Leila Ahmed, in her book Women and Gender in Islam, "She [Aisha] related 2210
sayings of the prophet Muhammad among which are 170 which have been approved and Bukhari
took 54 sayings from them." Through Aishah, we, as Muslims, gained much insight to the Prophet's
daily and personal life. Without Aishah, we would have missed a large portion of the Prophet's life.
If that does not show the impact fullness of Aishah, I don't know what would!
Asmaa' bint Abu Bakr Imagine being the difference between the life and death of the dear Prophet
(SAW) and your own father. Asmaa' was this difference. When the Prophet informed one of his
dearest companions, and Asmaa's father, Abu Bakr, of his plan to migrate from

Characteristics Of The Woodwind Sonatas Of Paul Hindemith
The Woodwind Sonatas of Paul Hindemith
Hollie Hosier
Graduate Research in Music
December 13, 2017
The Woodwind Sonatas of Paul Hindemith Most composers have certain types of music that they
prefer to compose, whether it is composing using certain instrument types or composing certain
styles or genres of music; many composers have their niche. Paul Hindemith, being a string player,
naturally was comfortable composing music for string instruments, and because of that, he has large
a number of compositions for string instruments. However, he has also composed a large number of
musical works for a variety of other instruments and chamber groups. Hindemith did something
incredibly unusual for a composer to do: he wrote sonatas for almost every wind instrument within
the symphonic orchestra. The purpose of this paper is to take a look at the factors that played into
the composition of the woodwind sonatas and how they reveal pieces of Hindemith's philosophy of
music and theory. The uniqueness of these woodwind sonatas are a result of the historical backing of
the sonatas, the purposes of the sonatas, and Hindemith's newly changed philosophy about music, as
shown by the flute sonata. Hindemith was born in 1895 in Hanau, Germany. He grew up to be a
musician and composer. In the 1920's and 30's, during the years drawing closer to World War II, life
in Germany became uncertain for Hindemith as he was on shaky ground with the Third Reich. In his
book, Composers

Vicky Boyett Or Queen Victoria
Very few people have ever met a queen in their life. Even fewer know a queen on a personal level.
Fortunately, I have been blessed to be one of those people. Actually, she isn't a queen; she is my best
friend's mother. Vilinda Sue "Vicky" Boyett or "Queen Victoria" as I call her is a kind,
compassionate woman who will not only take the shirt off her back to give to you, but teach you to
sew one for yourself. Vicky Boyett was born in Tampa, Florida on January 26, 1959. She was the

It required trusting God with abandon. At age 42, she became pregnant with her last child, a girl
named Lilly Noelle Boyett. Vicky was worried that she would be too old to raise another child, not
to mention that her oldest daughter and her husband were pregnant at nearly the same time. Mrs.
Boyett put her faith in God with everything for this child. Even for little things such as potty
training, Vicky prayed that the Lord would empower her, and He has. Lilly has been one of the
easier children to rear. However, Lilly was also the youngest child to help Mrs. Vicky in one of, if
not the hardest, trial in her life. Humans do not always understand the ways of the Lord or his plans.
Still, God requires trust from his believers. Ronnie Dean Boyett died on April 1, 2013. Vicky
became not only a young widow at 54, but a single mother to their 2 children who were still living

Internal Factors Of The Declaration Of Independence
The Declaration of independence granted the 13 colonies freedom from Britain. They were no
longer controlled, and were now part of a new country. There were both external and internal factors
that led to the Declaration of Independence, different structures to it, and different functions. It was
created with philosophical ideas and changed the way society came to be. On August 23, 1775 King
George III denied the intended Olive Branch Petition. The writing was written by John Dickinson,
showed that the colonies desired to reunite, and asked the King for peace. Besides denying the
petition, the king made an announcement that led the American colonies into open rebellion. On
July 6, 1775, the declaration of the Causes and Necessities of Taking Up Arms, refused the idea of
independence and stated that Americans would die rather than be slaves. The King then releases a
proclamation that denies the colonies to trade. Because of this, the colonies had to trade with all the
nations besides Britain. This was an economic declaration of independence and played a role in
creating the official declaration. Because they wanted to protect themselves from the king, the
second continental congress made allies and looked for help from other nations. France and Spain
offered support in 1776 by giving the Americans war machinery. A second external factor is
Economic Independence. Since the colonist needed war materials and because of the king's
proclamation, the resolvement of economic

Design And Functionalism Of The Industrial Revolution
The industrial revolution was the transition to industrialisation and urbanisation, which took place
from the 18th to 19th centuries. Industrialisation shifted the manufacturing of goods from small
quantities using basic machinery at home, to mass production with the mechanisation of machinery.
"The task of drafting a product was no longer left with the craftsmen, thus the creation of the design
profession." (Hauffe, 1998, p.11) Mass production and series production is defined as the large
quantity manufacturing of goods, using assembly line techniques and standardised designs.
Manufactured products that contributed to a high turnover use new sales methods, including
catalogs, sales representatives and advertising. In addition, the ability to create more cost effective
and accessible products. The term 'form follows function' is the principle that the shape of an object
should be based upon its intended purpose. Modernist design and functionalism supporters assumed
two different perspectives of the term. 1. The form of an object had only suit its function without
unnecessary details. 2. The process behind manufacturing products needs to be simple and straight
forward using a metric language, produced of high quality and long lasting These assumptions
create a clear perspective of the intent to design with the clear point of focus in terms of function, to
create an object of simplification. Artistic/aesthetic – the creative exploration of ideas and design

The Music Of Ludwig Van Beethoven
Ludwig van Beethoven When I was 7 years old, my parents signed me up for music school. I did not
want to go to music school, but they wanted me just to try. In first class we were just listening
classical music and it really sounded boring. But when Beethoven's fifth symphony came on, I fell
in love with classical music and I wanted to study it even more. My sister was also in musical school
and she played piano and when I came back from school, I was begging her to play me some of
Beethoven's pieces. I wanted to study everything about him and also learn how to play some of his
pieces. So writing this paper is going to be fun, and I am going to write it with pleasure. Ludwig van
Beethoven was born in city of Bonn in Germany in 1770, but later on he moved to Vienna where he
spent his last days and he died in 1827. He was one of the greatest pianists and composers of all
time, and lot of people were looking up to him and his work. He was considered a musical genius,
because a lot of his pieces are being studied today. We can say that he was one of those composers
who set the standards in music. He was naturally talented and his whole family was full of
musicians. He was son of Johann and Maria Magdalena. His dad also loved music and he was

The Brothers Grimm, By Jacob Grimm And Grimm
The Brothers Grimm, Jacob Grimm and Wilhelm Grimm, encountered problems that made them
print these folk stories. After their books were printed, other problems were created because of it.
They had to exchange ideas with many people to be able to write their books. Many forms of
literature were explored to create the masterpiece that Jacob and Wilhelm made. Stories like
Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, and Rapunzel had horrendous storylines that would probably not make
many people show them to their children.
Jacob and Wilhelm were born and raised in Germany. Their family valued education and were a part
of the middle class. When their father died, they were forced to move out and live with their aunts.
The reason for this is so that the Brothers Grimm could receive the education that they not only
wanted but needed. Their mother would not have been able to pay the cost of both of their
educations. It took them four years after living with their aunt to get into a college. They attended
the same college, University of Marburg, and that is when their ideas and love for literature grew.
The Brothers Grimm did not write the stories in their book, Grimm's Fairy Tales, but collected and
modified them. Both brothers became close friends with Achim von Arnim which made them create
the book, Kinder– und Hausmärchen (Children's and Household Tales), dedicated to their best
friend's infant, but was not necessarily meant for the child to read. They were also inspired by

Gender Roles Of Men And Women
Gender Roles in Fairy Tales
Fairy tales have been around for generations. They are a way to express the idealistic realities of
society. In most fairy tales, the roles of men and women reflect the way men and women are
portrayed in reality. Many cultures believe that women are to be seen and not heard and that the only
necessity for them is to take care of the house and raise children to repopulate society. Fairy tales
originated from oral tradition. These stories were passed down and here eventually written down. As
known as a result of oral tradition the stories were changed to fit the audience and make storytelling
more interesting. According to MPhil Kings, there are several broad classifications of types of fairy
tales. There are animal tales, ordinary folktales, jokes and anecdotes, formula Tales and Unclassified
Tales. For the most part, I will be looking at Ordinary Folktales. As stated before fairy tales are a
result of the society they were told in. No one knows when fairy tales originated. They are thought
to have been passed down from generation to generation until someone wrote them down. One of
the most known authors of fairy tales is the Brothers Grimm. The Brothers Grimm consists of two
brothers, Jacob Grimm, and Wilhelm Grimm. Jacob was born January 4, 1785, and Wilhelm was

Comparing Brothers Jakob And Wilhelm Grimm

  • 1. Comparing Brothers Jakob And Wilhelm Grimm Brothers Jakob and Wilhelm Grimm were ninetieth century scholars known for their work in fairy tales such as Rapunzel, Cinderella and many more. Both brothers were born in Hanau, Germany, Jakob in the year 1785 and Wilhelm following in 1786 (Encyclopedia of World Biography 1). Their father, Wilhelm Grimm died in 1798 leaving the family dependent on their grandfather and aunt (P. Malone 6). The brothers, their mother Dorothea Grimm and four other siblings, then moved in with their aunt. Thanks to their aunt, Jakob and Wilhelm were able to join a high school called, "Luceum Fridericianum", In Kassel, Germany (Rita Amend 1). They then attended The University of Marburg for legal studies, academically following their father who was a jurist (B. Myint 1). The death of their father reduced the boys to poverty, because of their low status in society they required special passes to study law (P. Malone 6). Along with ... In 1830 both Jakob and Wilhelm obtained positions at The University of Gottingen, where they worked as professors (D. L. Ashliman 1). Jakob and Wilhelm Grimm did more than just rewrite German tales, as philologist and professors they also wrote about medieval studies and mythology. In 1835 Jakob published, "Deutsche Mythologie" a book on German mythology (B. Myint 1). Their careers as professors did not last long as they there soon fired for protesting against King Ernest August of Hanover (D. L. Ashliman 1). Although not completed, the brother did start working on a German dictionary, unfortunately they were only able to make it to the letter F before they both died (B. Myint 1). Wilhelm died in December 1859 followed by Jakob in September 1863, the brothers left behind their collection of around two–hundred fairy tales and many other text such as: Deutsche Mythologie and their unfinished German language dictionary (D. • 9. Perta Monologue I feel alone, isolated beyond everything around me. It's like I'm not really there. Not alive. It's like I'm one of the statues, watching, but unable to do anything. A rock suddenly hits me square in the chest, and I bend to its force, as burning air sears my lungs. I must've been holding my breath, as my lungs gasp for more air. Another rock grazes my shoulder, falling straight into my hands. I stand, holding the rock in my hand. The soldier makes his way to Sara, as I stand by unable to stop him. I see Hanau, and I try to catch his attention before I lose him in the crowd again. I can't see Sara, but she is probably lying on the ground, in shock from being pushed away by her mother. The crowd shifts and the soldiers are pushed towards Sara. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... "Wow, Sara, that color's amazing on you." Sara nods, and says "It's Mother's favorite color." She starts to cry, but Hanau scoops her up and twirls her around until she's giggling. The door opens, and I see the mass of people left at the door as only Perta steps into the room. Hanau sets Sara down, and we follow Perta into the room. Perta invites us to sit down, so we do, all on the same pillow. Perta sits across from us and looks tired as he tries to shake the sleep out of his eyes. Two servants, Egyptian women, come in and serve us drinks filled with ice, and sweet things on trays. One of the women looks at me, and I can hear her say something rude about my stench to the other women. Little does she know I can understand, and speak her language. Hanau hears them too and gives me a look to not start something. He can understand them too, having had the same training in languages I had. Sara looks at both of us and ignores us as she takes an iced drink off one of the women's trays. "So, you hide in that temple, staying out of trouble, and then decide to all go down to the prison courtyards to get yourselves killed?" Perta asks, his eyebrow rose, expecting an explanation. • 13. Paul Hindemith Research Paper Paul Hindemith was conceived in the German town of Hanau in 1895, on December 16. We may expect that Hindemith felt a draw in the musical direction from an early age; Paul's dad was a painter and did not need his child turning into a musician, so our little writer–to–be fled at 11 years old, and began his own life. Paul taught himself the violin and viola and started gaining his living by playing at Cafes and other such foundations. Inevitably, Hindemith took in the fundamentals of all the instruments that mattered, so he could play them, at any rate, acceptable, however, he was clearly a virtuoso at his viola and viola d'amor. Up until around 1925, Hindemith was entirely customary, coming about carelessly with the musical standards of his time. However, in 1925, he turned out with "Kammermusik", his first straightforwardly tonal creation. The piece was illustrative of new thoughts and raised heaps of talk when it was performed at the Venice Festival of the International Society of Contemporary Music. Before he knew it, Paul was a ... Later on in the thirties, Hindemith started to feel in charge of an ethnic immaculateness in his music, a conviction, without a doubt aroused by the Nazi hostile to musical advancement developments going ahead at the time. Additionally amid this period, he proceeded on from chamber attempts to a more noticeable inclination to Symphonic composition. While at this stage, his music got to be "smoother" and less centered around counterpoint. In 1937–39, Hindemith wrote extensively on the properties from the scale degrees and intervals in rankings from consonant to dissonant, in Craft of Musical Composition. • 17. The Fairy Tales By Charles Perrault And The Grimm Brothers Introduce the Issue When we were young kids, our parents filled our heads with fairy tales for entertainment before it was time for bed. Cinderella is one of the main told fairy tales handed down from one generation to the next. This story appears in the folklore of many cultures. There are between 350 and 1500 different translations of this story in the world today. We don 't know exactly who first wrote this popular story, but there has been some talks about the Italians creating the first version. The first written version was published in Napoli by Giambattista Basile, in his Pentamerone (1634). The story was based in the Kingdom of Napel. It was later revised, along with other Basile 's tales, by Charles Perrault and in the Grimm brothers folk tale collection Grimm's ' Fairy Tales (1812). The Grimm brother 's Fairy Tales were not meant for children. The stories routinely included sex, violence, incest, and copious footnotes. Worst of all, they didn't even have illustrations. The brothers thought their main readers were adults, but surprisingly their main readers were young boys and girls. When they realized the age of readers, they tried to rewrite the story into a much delicate and happier story. Although they tried to make the fairytales tasteless, the stories main idea was still about sex and violence. Cinderella was a story about a young woman whose life was flipped upside down when her mother died and father remarried. Living in an abusive household, Cinderella ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

She's like my own sister, you know that. But that man... You know he won't help us, and it'll end up with all of us responsible for murdering a man following orders, or us dead." I can't move. Hanau, my best friend, one of the only people I counted on no matter what is walking away from me. He starts off, his steps echoing off the cold, hard stone, matching the beating of my aching heart. But then he stops mid–step. I hold my breath. I wish– no, hope, that this is real. He won't leave me. He'll stay. He turns to me, but he won't look at me. Unable to do anything but sit there in the same spot, I watch the doorway, as though he would come back if I didn't move. I don't cry until the others are asleep. I've heard of shattered hearts, broken hearts, but I don't feel like that. It's like a crushing weight that presses on my body. It's something I fight with every breath to rise against, and every time it takes a little more of me. How could he leave me? How could he make me choose? I try to sleep, but it won't come. I keep rubbing my thumb and thinking about the last words I said to Hanau. I can't sleep, not even close my eyes, for when I do, I see his face, hear the last thing he said to me. It'll happen, and it'll change everything. The rest of them sleep soundly, and I start counting Tussah's snores to pass the time. They went to bed the moment they got back. They spent the day scouting out the alley, going over the plan, and even sewing a dress for Gota to wear. They left me alone. They knew better than to try to make light of what just happened. I rush over, pushing Perta, and the others out of the way, my breath caught in my throat in relief to see that Melok's fine. He sits up, his face red, but his breathing fine. He even takes Perta's hand and stands up to talk. "The Senate's to be reinstated," he says. "Soldiers bearing the seal of Emperor Diocletian are right now securing the magistrate 's palace, and the magistrate is under house arrest. The bodies of the two Egyptian servant girls lay on the floor, their throats cut. "Spies," Perta whispers, as we enter another room. "They must have found out about the meeting, and reported it. They should have known that Rome doesn't deal well with servants who betray their masters. Sends out the wrong message to their servants." We pass by one of the storage rooms when we hear someone coming towards us. Perta motions for us to hide, and I duck behind some piles of sheep fleeces. Two soldiers walk in, swords drawn. I hear my breathing roar in my ears, so I clap my left hand over my mouth and put my right on my sword's hilt. Hanau hides across the room behind giant pots. • 29. The Odyssey: A Short Story It's dangerous work yes, but it's vital, and it does come with perks. Education can mean life or death in such an unpredictable world, and Father says that when everyone in the church is educated in such things as reading and counting, let alone the full breadth of a messenger's training, then the church is better for it. I feel a large hand rest on my shoulder, and hear Father whisper into my ear. "Does it bring back any memories, Ari?" he asks. "Seeing the new ones. It seems like just yesterday you wouldn't move unless Hanau was right there in front of you. I just wish this news was not coming to us, not now." Slavers had become more brazen in their takings, and now we know why. Slave markets always suffered when politics was unstable. They were boosting their take before profit suffered. Who would buy slaves when the Senate could not sign off on sales? This is why merchants are fleeing the city. Father's right, the storm is already here, and it will grow even more with the arrival of Emperor Diocletian. One of the men catches my attention as he walks out of the council room. It's Perta. I nod to Father, but he ignores me. Perta rarely comes to the church, so few times that I can count them on one hand. He stares at Father and walks straight towards us. "The people trust the Senate to do what best by them, and to keep peace in the city and its outlying territories," says Perta. He puts his hand on Father's shoulder, but Father shakes him off. "Peaceful people are people who pay taxes to run the Empire, without them, the Empire would suffer," Perta says, his robes, slashed with purple marked his status as Senator. "Yes, and what will the Senate do now?" Father asks him. "Caught between a rock and a hard place? I know where you stood on that tax of his. You will stand by your principles, faced with treason?" • 33. The Grimm Brothers Essay The Grimm Brothers Any good fairy tale may captivate a child's (or adult's) mind, but few could argue that, to be truly enchanting, a tale needs great illustrations. Two of the most influential fairy tale tellers in history were the German Grimm brothers, Jacob and Wilhelm. Both very intelligent scholars, they knew how to spin a tale in the most effective way possible. However, they had plenty of work just dealing with the tales' text, so in the area of illustration, they let their younger brother Ludwig take over, beginning with the second edition of their fairy tales. The fifth child of six in the Grimm family, Ludwig, who was always called Louis, did not necessarily follow in the scholarly footsteps of his two older brothers. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... His landscapes included tranquil pastoral views from his home principality of Hesse–Kassel and busy urban scenes from cities like Berlin. He also pictured the interiors of buildings and gardens, often with grand parties and important meetings shown in their midst. Showing an interest in nature, Ludwig even made drawings of some varieties of plants and insects. He worked in many styles and media, too, ranging from rough sketches to detailed engravings, from blurred watercolors to meticulous drawings. One of Ludwig's greatest artistic gifts was his ability to give very real personalities to the faces of his subjects by using various facial expressions and a masterful command of the different positions and characteristics of the eyes. This ability, along with his interest in nature and his use of a myriad of subjects, including all types of people and landscapes, lent itself well to the illustration of fairy tales. The second edition of the first volume of the Grimms' Fairy Tales marked Ludwig's first involvement with fairy tales. Achim von Arnim, who lent money, editing and publishing services, and advice to the Grimms, had only one criticism of the enormously successful first edition of Fairy Tales: it needed illustrations. The logical choice to fill this void in the second edition was Ludwig, who made a series of engravings to accompany the text published in 1819. Since that book was published, nearly every ... (Grimm New World Encyclopedia p.1) Their established principles strongly affected the advancement of folklore studies. They incorporated fidelity into their literature, without the use of add–ons, and though it was obvious that they didn't " practice what they preached", the style of their literature, an idealized 'morality', was much closer to reality then older thought literary repetitions that were thought to be necessary. "They urged fidelity to the spoken text, without embellishments, and though it has been shown that they did not always practice what they preached, the idealized 'morality' of their style was much closer to reality than the literary retellings previously thought necessary." (Simpson & Roud p. 197) Their belief of folklore was that it expressed moral and spiritual values of a nation, preserved by the faithful uneducated population, and that it was made up of bits and pieces of myths and religious values. Reflecting back on their collection, though it became immensely popular, they were essentially a result of the linguistic research, which was the Brothers' goal. (Grimm New World Encyclopedia p.1) It can be stated that they found inspiration in the form of their professor, Friedrich von Savigny who seemed to awaken an interest in the past for the two young men. • 41. Analysis of Romanticism, The Brothers Grimm, and Hansel... Timothy Towers Becky Austin Honors English IV April 18th, 2014 The Brothers Grimm, Romanticism, and Hansel and Gretel Today when one thinks about the Grimm Brothers, they most likely think about how widespread their stories are, being that they are told in many homes and have had many adaptations of them. This was not the case however when Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm first started to write and collect their tales. Many were uncomfortable with them and the very violent scenes they had. People eventually came around and Jacob and Wilhelm became two of the most famous people in the history of things relating to literature and this shows through their tales such as Hansel and Gretel. The Grimm Brothers were both born in Hanau Germany ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of the few points on which all people who claimed to be a Romantic was the refutation of enlightenment's skeptical rationalism. Romantics were more concerned with the imagination and relied on metaphysical things, where as someone who was a part of the enlightenment movement would claim that there is no evidence and is therefore irrational. Another point that most Romantics agreed upon was a love and respect for nature. One a part of the enlightened movement would want to use intellect to "master" nature while a Romantic would rather admire the beauty, wildness, and other inspirational qualities of nature (Micale 2026). Along with the admiration of nature and the strong use of imagination goes the strong interest in the emotions and getting in touch with one's roots. Some topics related to the emotions heavily emphasized in Romanticism are dreams, horror, fantasy, and madness. The Grimm Brothers were influenced by Romanticism in both this emotional sense, their tales encompassing often times all four of the emotional ideas just stated, and by getting back to one's roots. It was the getting back to one's roots that helped the Grimm Brothers feel led to collect folk tales from throughout the ages ("Grimm Brothers" 838). Most of Grimm Fairy Tales are rooted in society's problems. During this time there were many wars, plagues, and famines and there were ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In his early creative period, he shocked the classical concert audience with provocative novel sounds (rugged rhythms, gloomy dissonances, inclusion of jazz elements), which gave him the reputation of a "bailout". During the period of National Socialism, a ban on the performance of his works, which he finally responded to with emigration, first came to Switzerland, then to the USA. In the meantime, his composition developed into a neoclassical style, dealing in a new way with classical forms like symphony, sonata and fugue. • 61. What Is Occlusion As A Mechanical Instrument That... Introduction: Occlusion has been described as the most important subject in all the disciplines of dentistry, since it represents the way the teeth come together, and functions together. In restorative cases, where the patient is completely or partially edentulous, an articulator is needed, which is a mechanical device the holds the opposing casts, in order to be able to study the occlusion as in the patients mouth. This device; articulator, has different objectives and types, that will be discussed in the coming pages. Definition: An articulator is a mechanical instrument that represents the temporomandibular joints and jaws. The attachment between the TMJ and jaws with the maxillary and mandibular casts simulate some or all of the mandibular movements, which takes place around the TMJ which is capable of undergoing complex movements. An articulator is considered as any instrument which has a movable joint on which the maxillary and mandibular casts can be mounted. These mandibular movements can be rotation around the hinge axis, rotation around the antero– posterior axis, rotation around the vertical axis, and translation. Numerous articulators are available for the restoration of occlusion. Objectives: Holding the casts in the same relative position that takes place in the mouth Allow motion similar to that TMJ's motion Duplicate the dental border movements Diagnose dental occlusal conditions, in both, natural and artificial dentitions. ... The Symphony Of Beethoven Symphony Beethoven's Seventh Symphony showed the world not only what a nearly perfect musical composition sounds like, but also the sheer relevance and absolute importance of historical context in the perception of music. Written from 1811 to 1812, the piece has to this day remained one of Beethoven's greatest works. Beethoven dedicated the symphony to Count Moritz von Fries, an aristocrat that frequently hosted Beethoven in his more than accommodating home. After underestimating the size of the French army, the allies retreated from Madrid and into a small town in western Spain called Ciudad Rodrigo. It was at this point that the French sustained a significant blow from the failed invasion attempt on Russia. As a result, Bonaparte withdrew a sizable portion of troops from the western peninsular war to replenish his primary army. Meanwhile the Duke took the time to reinforce the allied army, and began pushing the French forces out of Madrid. 105,000 allied soldiers met the largely demoralized French army of 60,000 at Vitoria. The Battle decisively ended the peninsular war and led to the eventual collapse of Napoleonic rule in Europe altogether. As did most people in Europe at the time, the inhabitants of Vienna despised Napoleon and the French in general. The victory at Vitoria therefore caused a universal sense of celebration and euphoria to spread throughout Vienna. Originally written for the panharmonicon, a large, automated organ capable of creating several different sound effects, Wellington's "Victory" was changed for the orchestra. A friend of Beethoven's, Johann Nepomuk Maelzle, an engineer best known for inventing the metronome, requested that he compose a piece that would commemorate the victory over Napoleon. During the time of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW), as well as the era that shortly followed the Prophet's death, women were given a great sense of power, freedom, and rights. However, because the Quran and hadith are open to many different interpretations, a male–dominated society began to slowly restrict the rights of women and slowly began to push their roles towards staying within the household and being protected by being secluded. She was the daughter of one of the Prophet's closest companions, Abu Bakr, and was married to the Prophet at a young age. She was known for spending a very large amount of time with the prophet, and among her greatest contributions is the fact that she related a vast number of hadith from the Prophet (SAW). Characteristics Of The Woodwind Sonatas Of Paul Hindemith The Woodwind Sonatas of Paul Hindemith Hollie Hosier Graduate Research in Music December 13, 2017 The Woodwind Sonatas of Paul Hindemith Most composers have certain types of music that they prefer to compose, whether it is composing using certain instrument types or composing certain styles or genres of music; many composers have their niche. Paul Hindemith, being a string player, naturally was comfortable composing music for string instruments, and because of that, he has large a number of compositions for string instruments. However, he has also composed a large number of musical works for a variety of other instruments and chamber groups. Hindemith did something incredibly unusual for a composer to do: he wrote sonatas for almost every wind instrument within the symphonic orchestra. The purpose of this paper is to take a look at the factors that played into the composition of the woodwind sonatas and how they reveal pieces of Hindemith's philosophy of music and theory. The uniqueness of these woodwind sonatas are a result of the historical backing of the sonatas, the purposes of the sonatas, and Hindemith's newly changed philosophy about music, as shown by the flute sonata. Hindemith was born in 1895 in Hanau, Germany. He grew up to be a musician and composer. In the 1920's and 30's, during the years drawing closer to World War II, life in Germany became uncertain for Hindemith as he was on shaky ground with the Third Reich. In his book, Composers ... They were no longer controlled, and were now part of a new country. There were both external and internal factors that led to the Declaration of Independence, different structures to it, and different functions. It was created with philosophical ideas and changed the way society came to be. On August 23, 1775 King George III denied the intended Olive Branch Petition. The writing was written by John Dickinson, showed that the colonies desired to reunite, and asked the King for peace. Besides denying the petition, the king made an announcement that led the American colonies into open rebellion. On July 6, 1775, the declaration of the Causes and Necessities of Taking Up Arms, refused the idea of independence and stated that Americans would die rather than be slaves. The King then releases a proclamation that denies the colonies to trade. Because of this, the colonies had to trade with all the nations besides Britain. This was an economic declaration of independence and played a role in creating the official declaration. Because they wanted to protect themselves from the king, the second continental congress made allies and looked for help from other nations. France and Spain offered support in 1776 by giving the Americans war machinery. A second external factor is Economic Independence. • 105. Design And Functionalism Of The Industrial Revolution The industrial revolution was the transition to industrialisation and urbanisation, which took place from the 18th to 19th centuries. Industrialisation shifted the manufacturing of goods from small quantities using basic machinery at home, to mass production with the mechanisation of machinery. "The task of drafting a product was no longer left with the craftsmen, thus the creation of the design profession." (Hauffe, 1998, p.11) Mass production and series production is defined as the large quantity manufacturing of goods, using assembly line techniques and standardised designs. Manufactured products that contributed to a high turnover use new sales methods, including catalogs, sales representatives and advertising. In addition, the ability to create more cost effective and accessible products. The term 'form follows function' is the principle that the shape of an object should be based upon its intended purpose. Modernist design and functionalism supporters assumed two different perspectives of the term. 1. The form of an object had only suit its function without unnecessary details. 2. The process behind manufacturing products needs to be simple and straight forward using a metric language, produced of high quality and long lasting These assumptions create a clear perspective of the intent to design with the clear point of focus in terms of function, to create an object of simplification. Ludwig van Beethoven was born in city of Bonn in Germany in 1770, but later on he moved to Vienna where he spent his last days and he died in 1827. He was one of the greatest pianists and composers of all time, and lot of people were looking up to him and his work. He was considered a musical genius, because a lot of his pieces are being studied today. We can say that he was one of those composers who set the standards in music. He was naturally talented and his whole family was full of musicians. He was son of Johann and Maria Magdalena. His dad also loved music and he was teaching his son a lot of useful stuff about music. But the bad part was when his dad came home drunk and he used to wake up his son early in the morning to play piano. He had six siblings and just him and his other two brothers survived ... • 117. The Brothers Grimm, By Jacob Grimm And Grimm The Brothers Grimm, Jacob Grimm and Wilhelm Grimm, encountered problems that made them print these folk stories. After their books were printed, other problems were created because of it. They had to exchange ideas with many people to be able to write their books. Many forms of literature were explored to create the masterpiece that Jacob and Wilhelm made. Stories like Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, and Rapunzel had horrendous storylines that would probably not make many people show them to their children. Jacob and Wilhelm were born and raised in Germany. Their family valued education and were a part of the middle class. When their father died, they were forced to move out and live with their aunts. The reason for this is so that the Brothers Grimm could receive the education that they not only wanted but needed. Their mother would not have been able to pay the cost of both of their educations. It took them four years after living with their aunt to get into a college. They attended the same college, University of Marburg, and that is when their ideas and love for literature grew. The Brothers Grimm did not write the stories in their book, Grimm's Fairy Tales, but collected and modified them. Both brothers became close friends with Achim von Arnim which made them create the book, Kinder– und Hausmärchen (Children's and Household Tales), dedicated to their best friend's infant, but was not necessarily meant for the child to read. They were also inspired by chronicles, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I cringe at the loss of rhythm I will never regain. After spending the night in Perta's home, I was brought back to the Den to be hidden. The only people I have any contact with are Tola, Sara, and Brenna. Brenna is better though her appetite is still a bit off. The fever had been the worst of it, but when it ended, Brenna has recovered quickly. She had run up to me when I came back to the Den after spending the night at Perta's house. Our friendship renewed, even after everything that happened with the slavers. She's broken with Kayla, but we don't talk about it. We share a room again, and Sara joins us. This document asked the king to restore harmony between Britain and the colonies. The king rejected the petition, however, and announced new measures to punish the colonies. He would use the British navy to block American ships from leaving their ports. He also would send thousands of hired German soldiers, called Hessians,to fight in America. Almost thirty–thousand German soldiers also known as the Hessians. We tend to assume that once the Holocaust was over, survivors began to reestablish their lives and their pain disappeared. However, Holocaust survivors suffered, and even after 70 years after the liberation, Holocaust survivors still experience difficulties on their day–to–day basis. In the years followed the Holocaust they struggled with their painful memories while attempting to renew their lives, most of them in new countries. The Holocaust was one of the greatest massacres against humanity. As time goes by, the Holocaust survivors' memories start to fade. The obligation to remember is engraved ... "Even in this place one can survive, and therefore one must want to survive, to tell the story, to bear witness; and that to survive we must force ourselves to save at least the skeleton, the scaffolding, the form of civilization. We are slaves, deprived of every right, exposed to every insult, condemned to certain death, but we still possess one power, and we must defend it with all our strength for it is the last – the power to refuse our consent." – Primo Levi, Survival in Auschwitz. Just like Primo Levi, many Holocaust survivors wrote books to keep their memory alive. Ernest W. Michel is a Holocaust survivor that his calligraphy skills saved his life. As he was walking to the gas chamber, an SS officer asked the crowd who knew how to write. Ernest quickly raised his hand and started writing death certificates. Ernest is 89 years now, and his way of bearing witness is by going around the world telling his story. • 145. Gender Roles Of Men And Women Gender Roles in Fairy Tales Fairy tales have been around for generations. They are a way to express the idealistic realities of society. In most fairy tales, the roles of men and women reflect the way men and women are portrayed in reality. Many cultures believe that women are to be seen and not heard and that the only necessity for them is to take care of the house and raise children to repopulate society. Fairy tales originated from oral tradition. These stories were passed down and here eventually written down. As known as a result of oral tradition the stories were changed to fit the audience and make storytelling more interesting. According to MPhil Kings, there are several broad classifications of types of fairy tales. There are animal tales, ordinary folktales, jokes and anecdotes, formula Tales and Unclassified Tales. For the most part, I will be looking at Ordinary Folktales. As stated before fairy tales are a result of the society they were told in. No one knows when fairy tales originated. They are thought to have been passed down from generation to generation until someone wrote them down. One of the most known authors of fairy tales is the Brothers Grimm. The Brothers Grimm consists of two brothers, Jacob Grimm, and Wilhelm Grimm. Jacob was born January 4, 1785, and Wilhelm was born February 24, 1786, in Hanau Germany. Fumimaro Konoe's Invasion Of China Between 1031 and 1937, the Japanese army had invaded Manchuria and created a demilitarized zone in east Hubei and a Mongolian puppet state around Charchar and fought with Chinese in Shanghai. And Xin Jiang was in a state of war and under Soviet influence. Plus, after years of war, China's army was left weak. But in early 1937, Japanese soldiers, who had conducted military exercises outside Beijing for decades, exchanged fire with Chinses soldiers.
