This film was a massive hit you need to discuss why. It’s a ver clever film which mixes lots of
very conventional themes and stories surrounding the Romantic Drama genre, however it does
it through an unusual narrative structure and very visual storytelling.
Most people will be able to identify with universal characters and themes – which made the
film massively mainstream. On the other hand it may appeal to a less mainstream audience with
its mixture of genres and unusual cast and setting (for a western film)
There was a real buzz about the movie as it went from success to success. It was a ‘must see’
film. Although some felt that the marketing that the film got was somewhat misleading.
Danny Boyle’s reputation and directorial style has meant that he has a loyal following amongst
some film fans – to some he is considered an auteur.
