Transition: Following are the list of performance objectives that describe what students will be able to do at the end of the course.
Slide 1 of 2 Purpose: This slide states the course objectives. Emphasize: Read or state each objective so each student has a clear understanding of the chapter objectives.
Slide 2 of 2 Purpose: This slide continues the course objectives. Transition: Following is a figure of the network the students will learn to build during this course .
Purpose: This figure describes what the students will learn to build in this course. Emphasize: This figure is similar but not identical to the laboratory exercise network. Note: The network in the laboratory exercises first start with a LAN environment and shift to a remote access WAN environment later in the course.
Purpose: This figure states the chapter prerequisites. Emphasize: Make sure the students have a clear understanding of the course prerequisites. To attend this course the student should have basic knowledge of data networking comparable to the material found in Internetworking Technology Multimedia (ITM). Generally the student should have a basic understanding of networking concepts and an exposure to IP or IPX networking. Note: Poll the students on their understanding of the prerequisites and gage your classroom discussions around the students’ level of knowledge. This course part of the certification requirements for Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA). Transition: The following figure describes what is expected of the students during this course.
Purpose: This figure notifies the students of their responsibilities prior to taking this course. Emphasize: This is an introductory course. Students should have completed the prerequisite requirements for the course, or must have equivalent knowledge and experience. Students should keep their questions in the class to topics relevant to the course material. Students should introduce themselves describe their experience, and discuss what they expect to learn from this course.
Note: Assess the starting point of your students to help you gauge any adjustment in how you teach ICND
Purpose: The purpose of this figure is to cover the necessary class and facilities-related administrative topics. Emphasize: Describe the building specific safety considerations and site emergency procedures. For California, emphasize what to do in case of an earthquake—get under the table until the tremor is over. Do not leave the building! Localize the site emergency procedures for the specific region of the world: tornadoes, snow storms, etc.
Purpose: This figure identifies sources of additional information Emphasize: Most of the information for this course can be found on the Cisco Systems home page: www.cisco.com.
Purpose: This figure describes the recommended presentation of the course materials. Emphasize: The table in the figure shows the individual chapters of the ICND course. These chapters comprise the five modules of the course. Refer to the student notes for a description of the modules. Transition: Graphics icons of the devices that are featured in this course follow on the next page.
Purpose: This figure identifies the symbols typically used throughout the graphical presentations of this course.
