PRE REQUISITES
Pupil already knows that plant body is made of different tissues
Teaching learning resources
Story on plant tissues
An activity to identify words
Reference material:
Text bookof standard 8,SCERT
CLASS ROOM INERACTION PROCEDURE PUPIL RESPONSES
INTRODUCTION
Teacher makes a rapport with thestudents and ask questions
related to the contextual situation
Teacher ask
1.Is plant body made of similar cells?
2. Which are thetissues present in plant body?
No
Xylem, parenchyma
4. Today we will learn about it.
ACTIVITY-1
Teacher narratesa story on plant tissues:
The Mother Tree
Onceupon a timethere lived a big treein the centreof
the city . The mother tree had 5 sons, named Parenchyma,
Collenchyma, Sclerenchyma, and finally thetwin brothersXylem
and phloemvessels. One day Mr. Xylem went on for a strike,
thus theentire metabolismof mother treegot collapsed
,everybody asked him the reason for the strike, thus he said that,
he is the one whom carry water and mineralsfrom root to leaves
to carry out photosynthesis, which is very hard and I cannot do
it anymore, on hearing this the elder brother parenchyma called
him and told him that, look my dear ,here is your twin brother
phloem, he aloneshould distributefood prepared in leaves to
different partsof plant body which is truly hard and responsible
duty, here stands your younger brotherssclerenchyma and
collenchyma, they providestrength and support to plant body,
look at me dear I should carry out photosynthesisin thishot sun
,but yet now we never had regretted about thehardness of our
responsibilities, aswe consider our duties as love towardsour
mother tree. After hearing all these words xylemunderstood his
mistake and said sorry for all his mistakes and started loving
working for his mother tree.
Teacher asks questionson different plant tissues
1,Which plant tissuetransportswater and minerals?
Xylem vessels
5. 2.Which tissue transportsprepared food?
CONSOLIDATION: Plant body is made of different tissues
