In a perfect world, SharePoint systems are well planned with defined requirements, stakeholder approval, and methodology approaches. Oh, and unlimited budgets. But the reality of SharePoint implementations is deployments and operations are typically not what might be seen through rose-colored lenses. In this session, you will learn what the instructors have seen in terms of worst practices and approaches for getting a system implementation and deployment back on track, as well as methods to fix and optimize operations that may not be addressing your system's current needs. For all of the things that can go wrong with your SharePoint implementation, one of the best things we can do is learn from others. From not accepting that implementing an established information architecture and having an available infrastructure are core tenets of every SharePoint installation to managing SLAs with your end users. Come to this class to hear not only worst practices, but also worst experiences.

IMPORTANT: The primary content for this presentation is in the "Notes" tab below. Django is undoubtedly one of the most powerful web frameworks in existence today, and one of those sources of its power is its ORM. But, despite great documentation, it can be confusing as hell. And I’ve come into numerous projects which were plagued by poor usages of the ORM, causing headaches and heartaches for the developers, and often greatly degraded performance. So here in this presentation, I’d like to pass on some of the things I’ve learned over the many years I’ve been using Django and its ORM.

As project management has evolved, many organizations have grown increasingly sophisticated in the area of planning. Winston Churchill once said, “He who fails to plan is planning to fail.” However, planning is not enough. Great planning is only beneficial if the work is completed as planned. Failure in the area of project execution results when there is a variance between what has been planned and what is actually occurring. As organizations strive to reach the next level of project management maturity, the attention must shift to improving project execution. One way organizations can improve project execution is by establishing a project management information system (PMIS).

This session is Part II of a two part webinar series. 4 & 14 November 2:00-3:00 PM EDT Here are the links to the webinar recordings: Expose Yourself Online, Part I http://stc.adobeconnect.com/p7brqhcwo3s/ Expose Yourself Online, Part II http://stc.adobeconnect.com/p3z90v0ib8h/ Viqui Dill of the Washington DC Baltimore chapter of STC will present Part II. See Part 1 at http://www.slideshare.net/roger-renteria/social-media-webinar-part-1-stc-cac How much or how little you plan to communicate depends on how many volunteers you have, their communication skills and preferences, and the preferences of your members. Keep in mind that any communication is better than none, that your community members understand that we are staffed by volunteers, and that we have successful communities all across the spectrum. This is a basic Social Media plan, based on a Community with limited super powers. Since your community will have a different set of super powers and different kryptonite, your basic plan will be your own. Use these as a sample and then share your story with us.

n today’s complex market place of corporate partnerships and relationships, sharing information is pertinent to ensuring that business operations are conducted in a secure computing environment with trusted entities being provided access to protected information. In this session, Dan will discuss the basics of authentication and authorization in relation to the SharePoint platform. Further, we will be discussing the technical underpinnings of the SharePoint platform’s processing of a user’s identity dependent on identity provider and authorization settings. As a part of this session we will demonstrate different authentication and authorization configurations that are common place in today’s business settings to include when to use: • Integrated Windows Authentication • Forms Based Authentication using SQL Server • ADFS as a Trusted Identity Provider • Threat Management Gateway with Kerberos (Constrained Delegation using client certs) After attending this session, attendees will have a better grasp of the configuration complexities involved with each scenario as well as the user experience impacts based on the path taken.

So your business is getting rid of its old e-mail provider and wants to move their local SharePoint to the cloud and they’ve asked you to investigate this “Office 365 thing”. You’re left with a few questions quickly realize there’s more to it than you anticipated. No worries mate, we’ve got you covered. In this session we’ll run through the basics of Office 365, what it means to you from a licensing perspective, for an end user perspective, from a service description perspective and most importantly how to provision a tenant, setup user accounts and setup your DNS entries so that you can start collaborating using SharePoint. We’ll finish this session up with planning for considerations for more advanced topics around directory synchronization and federation.

Corporate and higher education. Two industries that, in the past, have had a clear divide with very little crossover. The difference in goals, learning styles and objectives paved the way for differing learning technologies platforms to evolve. Now, those stark lines are blurring as both sides are discovering they have content that’s relevant to the other. Join Tammy Rutherford as she walks through the pros and cons of corporate and higher ed collaborating. And the challenges of these different technology platforms working together for a brighter future.

Terragrunt, Terraspace, Terramate, terra... whatever. What is wrong with Terraform so people keep on creating wrappers and solutions around it? How OpenTofu will affect this dynamic? In this presentation, we will look into the fundamental driving forces behind a zoo of wrappers. Moreover, we are going to put together a wrapper ourselves so you can make an educated decision if you need one.

Explore how multimodal embeddings work with Milvus. We will see how you can explore a popular multimodal model - CLIP - on a popular dataset - CIFAR 10. You use CLIP to create the embeddings of the input data, Milvus to store the embeddings of the multimodal data (sometimes termed “multimodal embeddings”), and we will then explore the embeddings.

The microservices honeymoon is over. When starting a new project or revamping a legacy monolith, teams started looking for alternatives to microservices. The Modular Monolith, or 'Modulith', is an architecture that reaps the benefits of (vertical) functional decoupling without the high costs associated with separate deployments. This talk will delve into the advantages and challenges of this progressive architecture, beginning with exploring the concept of a 'module', its internal structure, public API, and inter-module communication patterns. Supported by spring-modulith, the talk provides practical guidance on addressing the main challenges of a Modultith Architecture: finding and guarding module boundaries, data decoupling, and integration module-testing. You should not miss this talk if you are a software architect or tech lead seeking practical, scalable solutions. About the author With two decades of experience, Victor is a Java Champion working as a trainer for top companies in Europe. Five thousands developers in 120 companies attended his workshops, so he gets to debate every week the challenges that various projects struggle with. Tracing the root cause of a performance issue requires a lot of patience, experience, and focus. It’s so hard that we sometimes attempt to guess by trying out tentative fixes, but that usually results in frustration, messy code, and a considerable waste of time and money. This talk explains how to correctly zoom in on a performance bottleneck using three levels of profiling: distributed tracing, metrics, and method profiling. After we learn to read the JVM profiler output as a flame graph, we explore a series of bottlenecks typical for backend systems, like connection/thread pool starvation, invisible aspects, blocking code, hot CPU methods, lock contention, and Virtual Thread pinning, and we learn to trace them even if they occur in library code you are not familiar with. Attend this talk and prepare for the performance issues that will eventually hit any successful system.
