The Gros Morne Institute for Sustainable Tourism (GMIST) aims to advance Atlantic Canadian tourism through executive development programs. Some programs include Edge of the Wedge: Experiential Travel which helps businesses develop new experiences, Beacons of Effective Sustainable Tourism, and Risk Management. GMIST focuses on environmental, business, and social sustainability. Edge of the Wedge is offered in Rocky Harbour, Newfoundland and teaches tools for experiential tourism marketing and partnerships.

In the past 5 years, 90% of the Sustainable Tourism awards for
Newfoundland and Labrador were awarded to GMIST Edge of the
Wedge graduates.
The 2009 Accommodator of the year award for Newfoundland and
Labrador went to Neddies Harbour Inn
