6. Oleson Elementary “ Exemplary Bound” Campus Technology Integration Plan Just as change is a constant, integrating technology and curriculum is an ongoing process. The Campus Technology Specialist is the vehicle by which we disseminate information and drive technological change. To implement technology integration on our campus, the tech spec will work with the Campus Planning Technology Team, made up of representatives from each academic discipline, to investigate, invent, and facilitate technology applications and integration for their subject areas. The Technology Team will become peer tutors in expanding technology integration into the teaching strategies of each of their colleagues. Working in concert, the Technology Team will mentor colleagues through the process until technology becomes a daily “transparent” tool in the instruction process for all subject areas. The tech spec will share educational methods, useful sites and technology tips to better familiarize staff. Mathematics Calculators and computers help provide feedback and connections between representations and concepts. Spreadsheets across grade levels for Timelines, Graphing, Calculating formulas, Probability, Geometric transformations. Graphs (table, picture, bar, line, etc) to: Represent findings, Compare findings, hypothesize future findings. Science Databases to: Collect data to sort and relate, Track equipment and materials, Record experimental data, Relate information. S preadsheets to: Record Data, Tabulate results, Graph findings. Digital Imaging to: Communicate and share Learning, Document over time, Insert into research documents. Word Processing to: Write, draw, paint, input images, sound, video, record journal entries compose and communicate. Teaching and Learning Technology Tools we use in: Graphic Organizers to: Diagram, outline, prioritize and arrange ideas, brainstorm, pre-write, concept map, collaborate, reinforce understanding. identify misconceptions . Across Curriculum Useful and educational websites will be shared in accordance with the teaching timelines. Process Map Notes ( right) 1. Success begins with Principal’s support & articulated expectations. 2. Tech Spec works with Chair in each department to tailor strategies for integration in each subject. 3. Chairs must direct/monitor practice and adherence to the plan within their department. 4. Regular evaluation of progress, fine tuning, and remedial attention are necessary for the plan to be successful. 5. Communication between tech spec and departments is key. Incorporating Information Literacy Information Literacy is incorporated into classrooms, with the help of the librarian and technology specialist, through the creation of various projects that gather, analyze and evaluate information from different resources on the internet.
