I will transcribe my treatment for my
music video, which will involve looking
into the proposals of the music video. I
will clearly state what the aims of the
music video are as well as stating
exactly what will be involved in the
production of the video.

-Research gathered from
questionnaire.
When Shannon was present we decided to alter
the synopsis slightly in order to allow the
investor to get a real sense of what the storyline
will be like for the music video. This will also
give them an idea of how this will appeal to the
target audience. They will also be able to
recognise that a video like this has not been
produced in the past.

11:00am-12: 15pm
I will compose my budget for my music
video by researching the exact costs that
will be involved in the production. I will
look into the contemporary costs
involved in hiring shooting equipment
and actors.
Sophia
-Internet
-Microsoft Excel
I went back and looked at the websites I have
got the hire prices from as I found that some of
them were not as trustworthy as others. After
looking at other websites I was able to
understand that some of the prices other
websites had quoted were very unrealistic.

Shannon will print off the lyrics to the
song that will be featured in the music
video. She will then write up the basis
for the music video explaining exactly
what will happen at each point. I will
then write up the script for my music
video, even though there will not be any
spoken discourse in the video, I will
think strongly about the types of shots
that will be involved in the video. I will
also look into the types of facial
expressions and body language the
actors will have to portray in the piece.
Sophia& Shannon
-Microsoft Word
I looked back at the script and altered the layout
of the page in order to make it much more
understandable for when the characters look at
it. For example, I moved their actions to the left
hand side of the page, leaving the voice over of
the song in the centre of the page so that the
cast can see what’s what.

11:00am-12: 15pm
Shannon will draw up the storyboard
after analysing the script in order to
understand exactly what sort of shots
and camera angles will be included and
displaying these through the types of
drawings.
Shannon& Sophia
-Script
We were going to draw up the storyboard on
Photoshop with a graphic tablet, however after
completing the storyboard by hand we felt that
this displayed what we wanted much more
clearly as it showed the shots in a good amount
of depth. By having basic drawings we felt as
though this will help us when shooting, as it is
clear to see what the scene is and what’s
happening. I coloured the storyboard in after
Shannon completed it in order to make certain

props in the scene stand out so we can see what
is most significant in the scene. I coloured the
protagonist and antagonist in different colours
so when looking at the storyboard we will be
able to clearly recognise who is who.

1:30pm-3pm
As some of the locations we are using
for the music video will be shot at
Shannon’s house, she will be responsible
for drawing up the site plans for the
video in rough and I will be responsible
for recreating the drawings on
Photoshop.
Sophia &
Shannon -Shannon’s drawings

When creating the site plans we had to think
thoroughly about the exact locations we will be
using when shooting our music video. We had
to discuss seriously about what outside
locations will be ideal for the music video. In
the end, we decided that the ideal location
would be to shoot around the area of Shannon’s
house as this would fit strongly with the target
audience of the indie rock music video.

9:30am – 12:30pm
Shannon will write up the Location
Release form in rough and I will write it
up onto the computer so that it looks
professional however fits to our house
style. Shannon will then be responsible
for gathering the signatures as it will be
her mum’s she needs to get in order to
shoot in her home.
Sophia &
Shannon -Microsoft Word
The only change we’ve made to this task is the
fact that we have decided to shoot on a different
date to which we have stated in the form. The
reason we have changed the date of shooting is
due to the availability of our actors due to
academic circumstances.

Shannon will write up the Talent
Release form in rough. I will then type it

make it look realistic and professional.

Shannon will write up the Risk
Assessmentsso that we are able to
understand the precautions we must take
when shooting and how we must act
upon it if an emergency did occur.
Shannon &

After re-visiting the locations we plan to shoot
our music video in, we were able to discover a
lot more risks that could occur. Especially when
visiting the locations in the times that we plan
to shoot.

10:45am-12:30pm
Sophia will be responsible for typing up
the call sheets. This allows the
producers to recognise what script pages
the actors feature on as well as the types
of props and costumes the actors will
need to be wearing.

Shannon and I will write up the photo
shoot plans for our ancillary tasks
directly into a blog post. This will allow
us to recognise the sort of costume and
makeup that the audience of the Indie
Rock genre would like to see and may
contribute towards persuading audiences
to purchase the product available.
Shannon &
Sophia

When creating the digipak and advertisement
the same image will be used however we have
decided to draw on people to an image rather
than taking a picture with people in it. This will
follow the house style of the product much
more and will create a unique look compared to
other products within the genre. Within the
digi-pak we have also decided to use an image
of the band looking as though they are on tour
rather than a posed image as we feel that this
relates much more to the genre and will be
much more interesting for the audience to look
at.

10am-4:00pm
The duration of this day we will shoot
the music video of ‘First Love’. We will
stick to usual conventions by capturing a
number of shot types so that we have a
range of footage to choose from when
editing.
Shannon &
Sophia
-Camera
-Tripod
-Script
We made sure we followed the conventions of
music videos by sticking to the script as much
as possible however when shooting we came up
with even more ideas and captured them too so
that we can choose which shots to use easily.

10:45am-12:30pm
We will begin to work on our first
ancillary task, which is the digi-pak. We
will ensure that we include the
stereotypical conventions of the indie
rock genre so that audiences will feel
drawn to the product. The house style
will be the same as the mock up as we
feel as though this worked well. The
colours and font also contribute towards
drawing in the audience.

Sophia

Rather than capturing an image of two people
holding hands for the main image on the front
cover of the album we decided to draw stick
people onto a scenic image as we felt it gave the
album a much more personal touch. As a result
of this, we also decided to hand write a lot more
of the pages in the digi-pak rather than using
standard typing on Photoshop. We felt this
worked very well as it made the album look a
though it had been produced for someone with a
much more personal touch.

We will begin to work on our second
ancillary task, which is the magazine
advertisement. We will ensure that we

the indie rock genre so that audiences
will feel drawn to the product. The
house style will be the same as the mock

We followed the idea of our digi-pak for this
production as we decided to hand draw the
image again as we used the same image on the
advertisement as to the front cover of the
album. This followed the house style much
more strictly. Although a typewriter font was
used in some of the advertisement it still added
a unique look to the advertisement as usually a

Today we will begin the edit decision
list for our music video. This will
determine the shots we will use and will
explain why each shot is successful or
not. Both Sophia and Shannon will be
responsible for choosing which shots to
keep and writing the edit decision list by
hand. Sophia will then type it up into a
table so that it looks much more
professional.
Shannon &
Sophia
-Final Cut Pro
-Microsoft word
It was relatively easy to decide which shots to
keep or delete however some that we felt were
much more significant could not be used due to
lighting problems, continuity and or the camera
at the wrong distance/angle.
26/03/2013
26/03/2013
13:30-4:00pm
We will now begin to edit our music
video. We will fit each shot to the beat
in order to fit with conventions of music
videos as well as linking the storyline to
the lyrics when necessary.
Shannon &
Sophia -Final Cut Pro
-Edit Decision List
We were unable to stick to our script at some
points as our actors sometimes did not act the
way we wanted. We also came up with new
ideas when filming and decided to capture them
if we needed any extra footage.

03/04/2013
11:30am-3:00pm
We will now begin to evaluate our
music video. This will display what
went well and what didn’t as well as
getting feedback from peers in order to
see how we could improve the video.
