Snapshot Day
Ever wonder what life is like on a typical day
at the LHS Library? Through the combined
efforts of the Kansas Library Association, the
Kansas Association of School Librarians and
the State Library of Kansas, Kansas
Snapshot day was developed to highlight the
services provided by public, school and
academic libraries on a daily basis.
On November 18th, the LHS Library
participated in the 2nd Kansas Snapshot day.
We provided students with a brief survey and
a small "Thank You" for their input. Out of
126 completed surveys, the top three
reasons for using the library are checking out
resources, working on research and
homework, and attending the Scholastic
Book Fair. We also asked students what
addition technology they would like added in
the future. The consensus was 1 to 1
computers with the iPad being the preferred
device. About 20 students would also like to
see eReaders available for checkout by
students.
Finally, we asked students what they wanted
to tell us about the library and library staff
including any changes they think we should
make. Most students indicated that the
library is a friendly and inviting place to be.
The staff are helpful and polite. However, the
top changes they would like to see are more
"comfy" seating, increasing the library size
and adding more books. Upon reflection, it
could be interesting to ask the students what
tasks they think the library staff perform
throughout the day.
2. Scholastic CANDYLAND THEME
Book Fair
The LHS Library held itâs third book
fair November 17th through the 23rd.
With eager anticipation, members of
the TAG Team began planning for the
book fair back in September. It was
decided to center the book fair around
the game Candyland. Students

The TAG members also decided to
hold a bake sale in conjunction with
the book fair. Members brought
brownies, cookies and cupcakes to sell
at the book fair. Approximately, $80 were used for the One 4 Books book fair and helped clean-up after the
