As a woman at the throne, people felt that she was overly extravagant with her art and elaborate, along with large number, of gowns she had.

4. Palace Ballroom Catherine II spared no expense in the elaborate décor of the palace. Her tastes filtered into various aspects of Russian culture stirring discontent among peasants and nobility who believed she was far to frivolous when Russia was suffering economic strife.

9. Catherine II, the woman Catherine II was a well educated and cultured woman of the time. She could be looked upon as a leader in the feminist movement before it occurred.
