Online Music Video Analysis
For those that have yet to encounter the listening experience of vinyl I encourage you to do so
now. These videos do not fully project the real life experience vinyl provides to the listener but it
does meet some of the criteria. The first video is Mozart on vinyl. There s something intriguing
and also appealing to hear the popping and cracking from the commencement of the record. This
video demonstrates just that. This experience is not common on all vinyl records but it s definitely
one of my favorites. The second video is Beethoven s Moonlight Sonata. As a vinyl enthusiast I
enjoy seeing the record spin around and around as if the musicis coming off the record. Lastly, the
third video is Frank Mills Music box dancer. As it was stated previously vinyl sounds feel more
alive this is a perfect depiction. The pianosounds as if someone is playing directly inside the room.

As music continues to be in existence as will vinyl whether it s in a subtle form amongst
collectors or widely progressing amongst a new generation. Throughout my duration in this
course one of my key learnings has been that the old becomes the new and the new becomes the
old. Our textbook served as a time capsule that provided a glimpse into the past. At the
conclusion of every chapter I was able to make references from the past to the present. This
notion may not apply to all content presented but items that resonate with individuals that link
them to places, people and times of the past seem to reappear. This was one of the reasons why I
selected the theme of vinyl. It s a timeless piece that that signifies more than just a record. My
father s vinyl collection remains in my possession up until this day. Even though he passed 10
years ago the moment the tone arm needle makes contact with one of his records it s as if he never

Cognitive Dissonance Theory
Leon Festinger created the cognitive dissonance theory as an attempt to explain why people desire
to have consistency between their behaviors and actions. Cognitive dissonance is the distressing
mental state people feel when they find themselves doing things that don t fit with what they
know, or having opinions that do not fit with other opinions they hold (Festinger, 1957; as cited in
Griffin, 2009). Thus, people are motivated to change either their behavior or their belief when
feelings of dissonance arise. Dissonance is reduced using three mental strategies. Selective
exposure is the strategy used before a decision is made. The premise of this strategy is to avoid
information that is likely to increase dissonance. The second... Show more content on

The difference between condition one and three is that condition three allowed the participants to
self affirm after finding out their verdict was in disagreement with the other group members.
Festinger argues that the lack of choice adds consonant cognitions which reduce the overall
amount of dissonance that otherwise would be experienced (Festinger, 1957, 1958; as cited in
Matz Woods, 2005). Additionally, the opportunity to self affirm strengthens self worth and thereby
reduces the dissonance created when people s actions threaten their personal integrity (Simon,
Greenberg, Brehm, 1995; as cited in Matz Woods, 2005). Thus, Matz and Woods hypothesize that
dissonance will be reduced by the lack of choice and the opportunity to self affirm. The results
show low levels of discomfort in the lack of choice and self affirmation conditions, providing an
explanation of the kinds of strategies people use to reduce dissonance. Study three introduces an
interpersonal strategy introduced by Festinger: changing one s own attitude to align with others
opinions (Festinger, 1957; as cited in Matz Woods, 2005). Building off of Festinger s idea of
changing one s attitude three conditions are used in this study. The three strategies used are: (a)
changing one s own attitudes to agree with others in the group, (b) influencing others to change
their opinion, and (c) joining a different, attitudinally congenial group. The end results show

which is in Ohio. The shawshank redemption provides an exciting movie on the life of inmates at
the Shawshank prison. The movie draws the attention for audience. As a result, a critique of the
movie titled the Shawshank redemption is critical in evaluating how the movie uses different
features to explain the message. The film titled the shawshank redemption shows a number of
aspects. There are three features which, analysis, evaluation, and defense, are used to review the
film. Further, each of them talks about several criterions to evaluate the film s features. These
criterions include the utilization of religious imagery and language, representation of the prison,
and how the movie follows the novel by Stephen King.
To make sure of analyses the film is completed by an evaluation of the main characters in the

Counselor Regulations
Counselors face many different obstacles on a day to day basis. There are so many rules and
regulations that apply to them. As counselors we must be aware of these rules and regulations.
This paper will take a closer look at what is required in the state of Michigan to be a counselor.
In Michigan it is required that the individual that wants to counsel someone have at least a master
degree in a related field. There are more requirements than just getting a degree. Once the
individual gets a master degree that reflects CACREP curriculum then they have to pass the
national counselor exam, do no less than 600 hours for an internship, at least 3000 hours in the
field (not less than two years time), and 100 hours of supervision with guidance ... Show more

The exams are the NCE which is given by the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC). The
other exam is the Commission on Rehabilitation Counselor Certification (CRCC) Examination.
(University C. , Unknown).
In order to become a LPC one has certain conditions that must be met. These conditions are to earn
your counseling degree from a CACREP affiliated college and pass a criminal background check.
There are additional requirements such as collect the mandatory hours to complete the supervised
experience requirement. Then one has to apply to take the NCE as administrated by the NBCC.
Then one has to submit an application to the Michigan Board of Counseling to receive their LPC
title (Michigan LPC Counselor Certification/MI Counseling, Unknown).
In order to go from a LLPC to a LPC one must complete the 3,000 hour supervised counseling
experience. To become a LPC one must have a master s degree or higher in counseling from a
CACREP accredited college and a minimum of 48 semester hours and a 600 hour internship. This
may not seem like such a big difference but imagine the difference that the semester hours along
with the supervised hours make (Michigan LPC Counselor Certification/MI Counseling,

A Brief Note On Chad Cameroon Petroleum Development And...
In 2003, construction ended on a pipeline project more commonly referred to as the CCPP (Chad
Cameroon Petroleum Development and Pipeline Project). The main actors in this project besides
the World Bank consisted of a triumvirate of oil companies with Exxon Mobil at the helm, along
with Petronas Malaysia ChevronTexaco. The project was under many watchful eyes in the global
political theater as it hoped to prove as a model for other developing countries. It also sought to
break the spell of the resource curse which it is generally known, is that countries rich in natural
resources, specially oil, tend to suffer from lower living standards, slower growth rates and higher
incidence of conflict than their resource poor counterparts. (Auty, 1997)
The project entailed constructing a pipeline which would begin in the Doba basin in Chad which
was said to contain in excess of 1 billion barrels of oil and stretch southwest through to the
Cameroonian port city of Kribi. This pipeline measures an impressive 1,070 kilometers and had an
initial price tag of $3.5 billion; which was later then confirmed by Exxon Mobil to, in fact, cost
$4.2 billion.
Unsurprisingly, the main reward from these barrels of black gold would be a monetary reward
for all the parties involved. For Chad, the revenues were estimated to be $5 billion over the course
of 25 years and this didn t consider other potential oil fields. The World Bankattempted to ensure
that any revenues on the Chad side,

Strategic Position Statement
Strategic Position Statement Netflix is the world s largest online movie rental service. We
provide over 100,000 choices of DVDs to more than eight million of our subscribers. We saw
how the Internet is changing the way people buy and sell goods. We saw an opportunity in the
movie rental industry and decided to provide a novel product and service from the convenience of
ones home. Here s how Netflix works. First Netflix customers choose which type of monthly
package they want. They then make a list of movies that they want to watch. Movies are then
shipped to the customer. After the customer has viewed their movies they send the movies back
and we send them the next title on their list. All with no late fees or shipping fees.... Show more

One way to manage this would be to own quality relative to industry standards. Another critical
success factor from the customer s point of view would be price. Netflix has to keep a relatively
low price to make them stand out from traditional rental stores. One way to measure this would
be to own a price lower that that relative to traditional rental stores. As technology changes so do
some of the products that we carry. When blu ray movies were chosen as the standard for high
definition movies our inventory had to reflect that. As sales of blu ray improved we should
watch what percent of sales come from these discs. There are also critical success factors that
come from internal capabilities. When dealing with Netflix we have to make sure that we are very
efficient. Customers will expect to get their DVD s promptly. To make sure we are doing this we
monitor the cycle time. Also within the company we need to track the number of new customers
we get. To do this we should measures the amount of new people that sign up for Netflix. Now
focusing our attention to the critical success factors of innovation. When looking at this, the one
thing that stands out is market leadership. There are few other DVD by mail companies that can
compete with Netflix. Our market share measures this. When looking at critical success factors
from the financial perspective there are two things that stand out. The first being Netflix sales. We

career path. The career that I think best suits me is a marketing manager or head manager of an
engineering or any company, where I would be able to presentations, portfolios and other

European Exploration Religion
Exploration Essay
Religion was not a major reason for European exploration because many of the European traders
and travelers wanted to get rich by finding gold or some other valuable object, people wanted to
travel to another place because of their country s poverty, disease, or and economic backwardness,
and also that the Europeans started traveling more ever since their technology and navigation was
more developed.
First, there are valid evidences to support that economics were more important to travelers and
traders than religion. The first supporting evidence of this is, The rise of capitalism in Europe was
undoubtedly a powerful spur to the process. Merchants, adventures, and government officials had
high hopes of finding precious metals and expanding the areas of trade, especially for the spices of
the East. (Page 494) This evidence shows that Capitalism was a great spur to the Renaissance, and

The first supporting evidence for this statement is, Portugal was too poor and rocky to support
more than a modest agricultural economy. It lacked the commercial expertise and resources to
break into the Italian dominated trade of the Mediterranean. (Page 22) This evidence stated that
people wanted to travel to other places because Portugal was too poor and rocky for people to
support an agricultural economy. Another supporting evidence is, Europe was poorly endowed
with gold. Many mines which had formerly produced gold were now all but exhausted; much
gold had been lost to Europe through plunder and continuing trade with the East. (Page 13) The
analysis of this evidence is that Most of the gold was gone in Europe because the mines were
exhausted, and Europe exchanged much of their gold to Asia to get spices, and other goods.
People also wanted to travel to new places because of their technological

The Mind Is An Amazing Place
The mind is an amazing place. It s incredibly adaptable and incredibly complex. The study of
psychology aims to help us understand the the complexity of the brain. To help understand the
behavior and mind and to assist in embracing all aspects of conscious and unconscious experience.
And while we aim to categorize and understand all aspects of the mind, it seems that we end up
highlight complex, fascinating and uniquely different each individual s mind works. One of the
unique ways we ve categorized the way our brainprocesses information is through senses. We ll
take a look at each sensein the coming paragraphs.
The ability to detect and interpret the events that are occurring around us allows us to respond to
these stimuli appropriately (Gibson Pick, 2000). The human brain has a large capacity to interpret
information through sight, hearing, taste, smell and touch. One of the examples in chapter 4 of
our book talks about our capacities for sense is like a kaleidoscope. In in a perfect scenario all
senses work together in a beautiful medley.
Take the following excerpt for example:
In many ways our senses are quite remarkable. The human eye can detect the equivalent of a single
candle flame burning 30 miles away and can distinguish among more than 300,000 different colors.
The human ear can detect sounds as low as 20 hertz (vibrations per second) and as high as 20,000
hertz, and it can hear the tick of a clock about 20 feet away in a quiet room. We can taste a

Netflix had already spent years debugging its software.

It is narrated that the main character was born as the fourth child in a family. Four is a bad number

The catechism classes have convinced Four Girl to embrace Christianity. So she was then

Prevention Of Hospitals For Methicillin Resistant...
Article #5 In a study Herrmann, Petit, Dawson, Biechele, Halfmann, von Müller ... and Gärtner
(2013) conducted a widespread screening in the admission of patients to hospitals for methicillin
resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). The purpose of this study is to show that to help control
the spread of MRSA in hospitalby having admission prevalence screenings. MRSA is a major
nosocomial infection in hospitals and has become a problem that can be hard to manage in
patient safety. There are certain risk factors that a patient can possess when they become
infected with MRSA or are positive carriers. So, if there can be a prevalence screening for these
risk factors upon admission hospitals would be able to tell if the MRSA was acquired while in
the hospital or if the patient was already infected. In the other case studies discussed they examine
steps that can be taken in the case of MRSA already infecting patients and then treating, isolating,
and preventing from infecting many more. The study administered by Herrmann et al. examines
patients upon admission meaning this could help reduce the spread of MRSA other than finding
that it infected patients already admitted. Since this study was focusing on prevalence screening
they needed participates from all over the region. During this study 24 hospitals participated: 12
hospitals had less than 200 beds, 10 hospitals that had up to 500 beds, one hospital with 600 beds,
and one with close to 1300 beds (Herrmann et al., 2013).

The Importance Of Technology In Modern America
American citizens today are so obsessed with being the future that they forget to live in the
present. Wendell Berry, a writer that appreciates simplicity, asserts that Modern America has put
education, the economy, and technology over religion, family bonding, happiness, and health.
He disapprove the use of electronics because he feels that it does not significantly outclass the
usage of a pen and a paper. While electronics did make life simplistic, Berry is correct in
disapprove technology in that it alters one s priorities, causes us to lose our abilities to
concentrate, and causes citizens to miss out on the real world around them because it makes
humans unable to fully live their life independently. To begin, The use of electronics causes one
to change their priorities. In the passage of the onion, The Onion: Police: iPhone Left In Hot Car

Safe Driving Essay
Teens need to be taught that driving is a task that is complex and demanding. Parents know how
much experience a young driver has, and they know exactly how inconvenient it is when they
have to drive with their teen everywhere while they have their permit. Teens tend to cause most
traffic accidents in adults eyes. They are not experienced yet, and often fail to pay attention to
others on the road. They often think of a car as being some type of toy, but they do not know how
powerful it really is. The driver education programs must be strengthened in order to make sure that
students really have safer habits, behind the wheel experience, and by having a better

This shows that teens do not take driving seriously and also do not realize what can happen to
them if they continue with bad driving habits. In fact, insurance rates are high enough as it is
for teens now. If they get into a car accident, the insurance rates will sky rocket, their parents may
have a hard time being able to afford the insurance. Traffic crashes are the leading cause of
fatalities for teens. As stated in a magazine, Drivers ages 16 to 19 are four times more than likely
than older drivers to crash (Brophy). This quote shows that teen drivers are involved in more
traffic accidents then older drivers. It has much to do with the young drivers not being safe and
making horrible choices while they are driving or in the car with another person. If teens engage
in the driving education course, they will definitely become more knowledgeable about all the
safe ways to drive when their parents do not have to ride with them anymore. Teen drivers are
involved in many car accidents due to unsafe driving habits. A course on safe driving will give the
young driver behind the wheel more experience. The second reason that teens should attend a

wanted to confine not only the Vietnam War, but also the entire system that began such wars. The
Weatherman considered the only way to inhibit war, was through the establishment of a subversive
army, with a majority of support that would overthrow the state through armed struggle. Evidently,
United States was not qualified for revolution. Rather than captivating support by performing street

Throughout all the chaos the Weathermen caused, they went through a series of events. Its initial
politics were barley radical. The first report of assumption, the Port Huron Statement, built
criticism of the economic and national injustice in the United States. The generalisation that

The song The New World written by Jason Robert Brown, describes the feeling of trepidation
about leaving ones home and following a new path. Colm Toibin and Jason Brown both use
imagery to show how lost one feels when searching for home. Eilis s relationship with home
shifts and changes as she struggles to come to terms with the consequences of living in two
places both mentally and physically. She loves her small home town of Enniscorthy, but she
doesn t quite fit in with the atmosphere and the people. In many ways, her home has a socially
conservative environment, and not everything is as it seems. However, her new home in
Brooklyn is filled with her feelings of homesickness and nostalgia. Eilis never feels quite happy
there because she is always thinking about her sister Rose and her mother. Yet, Brooklyn
provides her with the opportunity to start over and begin a new life. In the song The New World
the lyrics paint a picture of land that calls to be discovered. A new world call across the ocean, a
new world calls across the sky, a new world whispers in the shadows, time to fly . Jason Robert
brown uses the image of a land across the sea in order to show how distant this new life is.
Similarly in the book, Eilis leaves Ireland and becomes a stranger in an entirely new

What Is The White Man s Burden Imperialism
Everybody Wants to Rule the World Imperialism has slowly disappeared as nations have
developed. However, the idea of spreading one nations idea and power through other lands was
once a very popular and practiced idea. Once the United States became free of Great Britain s rule,
many in the new county believed it was the United Statesjob to spread the idea of democracy and
freedom throughout the world. This was a form of imperialismand one advocate of this way of
thinking was Rudyard Kipling who wrote the poem titled The White Man s Burden: The United

Genetically Modified Foods And Human Health
Genetically Modified foods are one of the important issues in the world. Farmers and scientists

The Evolution of Self in Asian-American Women in the Us...
Essay 2 The Evolution of Self in Asian American Women in the US The conflict of a typical mother

further exasperated as these women were forced to also deal with adjusting as first, second, and

Janice Mirikitani, was interned, along with her mother, at a work relocation camp during 1941in

Delmendo, Mirikitani). The first generation of Mirikitani women had to potentially overcome the
silence of her liberties by the traditions of two cultures. The culture of Japanese tradition she left
behind and that of the unwelcoming American culture. Instead of fighting against this persecution
by the United States, she chose to remain silent and hidden within the confines of her Japanese
culture. As a Nisei, second generation Japanese American, Janice begins to question her role as
a woman in American in society. She wants to break the tradition of silence and speak out
against the defined role that society has laid out for her. She makes attempts to do this in her
own mind so that she can pass this knowledge on to her daughter, but she seems unable to do so.
In the poem, she expresses her discontent at remaining silent and hopes that she can convey this
yearning to break tradition, and be heard in society, to her daughter. Before she can express these
sentiments to her sansei daughter, she realizes that her daughter was able to break this chain of
silence that was passed down to her and find her self identity on her own. She seems to be unaware
of the confinements of either culture and seems to have no problem in expressing herself or in
embracing her American culture. A

Introduction The research article that was chosen for critique was regarding the maternal
repositioning during the labor process and does this impact the progression of the birthing
process. Upon reviewing this article, it was obvious that the findings were in favor of maternal
position changes during labor, and that it did indeed have a positive impact on the progression of
the labor process. The findings of a positive impact on labor were indicated by maternal and fetal
monitoring, maternal opinion of the labor process, and the length of stages of labor. Below is an
analysis of the article that was chosen to critique.
Statement of the Problem As healthcare professionals it is our responsibility provide the best
evidence based care, that produce desirable outcomes for the patient. During the labor and
delivery process many critical issue can arise for many reasons. One critical issue is the length of
labor for the mother and fetus. A long labor process can result in maternal exhaustion, intolerance
of labor for the fetus, and failure to descend. All of these reasons can result in a cesarean section.
Maternal repositioning during labor helps achieve the safest desirable patient outcome.

The Failure Of The Chernobyl Nuclear Disaster Essay
Executive Summary Thomas J. Watson once said, go ahead and make mistakes. Make all you
can, because that s where you will find success: on the far side of failure. Making mistakes or
failures are a part of life, as Watson puts it, it is vital to make mistakes and learn from them.
Making mistakes is an integral part of innovation. It is the ability to overcome these faults; faults
allow humans to grow and expand on the knowledge of the unknown so that in the future we are
well prepared for the unexpected. By understanding from previous failures, it stimulates
innovation, new ways to approach and triumph over obstacles. The purpose of this report is to
highlight significant engineer failures over history. Many of the disasters occurred in the latter
half of the 20th and beginning of the 21st century. Starting with the Chernobyl nuclear disaster,
three aerospace related accidents, Challenger, Apollo 13, and Mars Climate Orbiter. As well as
the radiation machine, Therac 25, and the more recent Deepwater Horizon oil spill. Each of the
topics will go in depth on background information, how the incident occurred, way it could have
been prevented, and future implications, or measures taken due to these accidents to avoid future
disasters. Nothing is perfect, everything has flaws, this includes processes and people. There is
not a final approach to solve problems. Mistakes do not discriminate; it happens at some point in
one s life. One of the most critical take on mistakes is

Summary Of Brian Friel s Translations
The play Translations is set in a Gaelic speaking, Hedge school in Northern Ireland, 1833. Brian
Friel explores the modernization affect individuals and communities that occurred as a result of
the conquering English language. He examines how language shapes reality, whilst questioning
the assumption that any two people can share the same reality; ideas can be translated between
cultures without necessarily being altered. The play offers a parable about the fate of a parochial
attitude for those who are not familiar with Irish history. Brain Friel is considered to be concerned
with the nuances of both personal and cultural national identity and its relation to colonial
dispossession, issues of home, language, tradition... (Bertha 2006, 154). Friel writes a story of
how one nation lost its language, culture and literature as a result of being conquered by another.
He explores the reasons behind this loss and the ways in which society can overcome this sense of
isolation.
There is a sense of forced assimilation through the loss of the Irish language, with the reoccurring
feeling of isolation appearing to be the result. A lack of mutual understanding is present between
not only the British and Irish but also the Irish themselves, for there are common disputes about
conforming to the English language. The native language declined, not as an outcome of British
policy so much as because an entire generation of the Irish themselves decided no longer to speak
it (Kiberd 1995:

Taking Ireland For The Irish Essay
Another cause common to both groups of nationalists was getting Ireland for the Irish , as O
Connell said during his efforts for Repeal, or ensuring that the Irish people had control of their own
affairs. This might not seem like a major problem today, but at that point, Ireland was being
governed from another country that many felt didn t have their best interests at heart. William
Ewart Gladstone, the British Prime Minister in 1886, brought up this issue when introducing the
first Home Rule bill to the House of Commons. Because the law came to Irelandwith a foreign
aspect, and in a foreign garb , it didn t feel to the people to be truly Irish law or coming from
their needs. Because of this, even legislation with good intentions were met with distrust and
displeasure. He argued that sometimes it wasn t enough that the laws were good; they needed to
come from the right source as well. There were, however, points to be left to the Crown, including
imperial affairs, the armed forces, and foreign relations. They also shouldn t pass a law favoring
one religion over another. The Home Rule Conference agreed on these points, asking only for
control over domestic affairs to be placed in the hands of an Irish Parliament. They also agreed in
the belief that increasing Irish autonomy would strengthen and honor the Crown rather than
weakening or degrading it.
An Irish government was also a goal of the revolutionary nationalists, though they supported a
different form, which will be

The Movement Towards Cloud Computing

primitive in terms of industrialization, but the general population is a progressive one. There
are incredible advancements being made in the industries of transportation, communications,
aerospace and defense, as well as almost every industry related to the culture of society. As these
advancements progress and companies innovate, the demand for different products changes.
For example, the demand for DVDs today is no where near what it once was. In today s society,
there is a huge demand for technology based products. Due to this increased demand for
technology, there has been an impressive amount of innovation on how technology is both used
and sold. The largest of these innovative movements has been the movement towards cloud

Virginia Woolf Death Of The Moth
The Death of the Moth by Virginia Woolf explains the life of a moth that is centered around a role
that represents life. The theme is the mystery of death and the correspondence of the life of the
moth with the true nature of life. Death is a difficult subject for anyone to speak of but it part of life.
The Death Process, the struggling and fighting against death. It is demonstrated that death was
inevitable, humans tend to fight against death and anything in the way of the power will fail
eventually. Moths are associated with death as a symbol. The character of the moth itself is a
metaphorical reference and also the representation of Woolf s mental illnesses. The moth s battle
with death can represent the struggle Woolf had with her illnesses, the ups and downs in her own
personal battles. The acceptance of death relates to the suicide of Woolf, after many successes and
failures, you can t always keep fighting. The moral is that regardless of what happens to someone,
life goes on and the world does not stop turning. The word death is repeated many times in the last
paragraph as it is trying to emphasize that nothing can win the battle against oncoming doom. ...

Marketing Pricing Strategies
Introduction
Since the inception of commercialisation, organisations have predetermined objectives before
initiating a business. The prime and the most important objective of the organisations are to make
profits and sell their products and services effectively (Singh and Kaur, 2011). Tools such as
marketing and advertising are used extensively for persuasion and its effectiveness and success can
be judged on the extent to which the message is perceived and interpreted by the target market.
Singh and Kaur (2011) showed that the impact of marketing and advertising activities is extremely

Psychological discounting The most widely used strategy in the UK is the psychological pricing. It
has proved to be effective in motivating purchase decisions. An example of this type of pricing
would be 2.99 or 5.99 etc. This restricts customer to round off and therefore proceed towards
purchase.
Examples above provide ample evidence about the importance of pricing in marketing strategies.
However, pricing strategies have some limitations too. An Article by Arnold Anderson suggests that
pricing strategies offer many disadvantages to the product and eventually distracts consumers from
making purchases. If a company uses low prices to attract consumers, it can affect credibility of the
company and perception of quality on consumer s mind.
Let us assume a company selling products at low price such as Asda, it would have to maintain
the low price leader tag. If they are found increasing their prices more than their competitors, it will
lose credibility being a low price leader. Secondly, if Asda sells products less than what the product
should actually be worth in the mind of the consumer, consumers would eventually believe that the
quality of the product would be really low. In both cases, consumers would end up changing their
purchase decision towards another company.
Franklin (2011) discusses that pricing

So storefronts can do the shipping for free then people will turn to more interested. For example, a
customer went shopping to a mall and saw a hat afterwards he wants to buy he can order by
making a call to the shop. It is very comfortable and the customer can trust the store because he
already saw the hat. But with online shopping people never see the product before so they can not
trust that the product is the same one in the website or not. In this strategy, storefronts can attack
online shopping on the point that people can buy things from their home or everywhere they want.
Secondly, Storefront businesses should open more branch shops because it is easy for
customers to go to the shop nearest their home and they will see the real product after which
they can make a decision to buy it. The weakness of online shopping is that you have to be really
careful in choosing the site from which you want to buy the things you need. Some sites just
lose your money and will not give you anything. Another problem is the quality of the things you
get. For instance, if you order food and you get an old or bad item you are able to send it back

The Impact Of Ray Charles On American Culture

unable to see, he was successful in making his artistic visions come to life by fusing the sounds
of blues, gospel, jazz, and R B, making him one of the leading soul artists of the 1950s. The
legendary musician is recognized for being a pillar in the industry, credited with making strides
in desegregating musical genres. Although he composed many of his early hits, Charles is
considered to be an interpreter of music, offering his distinct personal vision of many classics. Over
the course of his career, which spanned five decades, he recorded over 60 albums and sold millions
of records worldwide. Ray Charleswas born on Sept. 23, 1930, in Albany, Georgia, and grew up in

his unparalleled ability to crossover different genres of music. He mixed together genres such as

Rhetorical Analysis Of Queen Elizabeth
Queen Elizabeth I is considered to be one of the most powerful women in history. In 1588, as
ruler of England, she was faced with an invasion against Spain for control over trade in the new
world. Her Against the Spanish Armada speech was addressed to the English Army at Tilbury
Fort to help motivate and boost assurance, as well as showing support to her troops over the
battle they were about to face. With her passionate words and courageous way, Queen Elizabeth
establishes a connection with her soldiers; appealing to their patriotism and emotions through
logos, pathos, and ethos. Although she was uncertain of a famous victory , Elizabeth instills the
reassurance they need to fight against Spain and leading them to victory in the end. Elizabeth s
relationship with her people is built on faith and love, not fear or tyranny. In the beginning of
her speech she addresses the soldiers as My loving people. She refers to her troops as faithful
and loving, showing the appreciation and loyalty that she has for her soldiers. She feels she
must acknowledge the important bond between herself and her soldiers by showing them that
she is not just a distant queen. To assure her troops of her faith in them, she uses logos in her
speech to encourage her soldiers to fight for the good of England. For example, she lets them
know by saying ... I have placed my chiefest strength and safeguard in the loyal hearts and good
will of my subjects. She uses repetition of the word I and We to show that she is not just a
queen but a fellow Englishman. ...to live or die amongst you all; to lay down, for my God, and
for my kingdom, and for my people, my honor and my blood, even the dust , shows that she is a
part of the people and will fight side by side with them to defend their country. This would be the
first thing that her soldiers fight for, a people and ruler relationship that is bound by love and
trust. After she established the bond, Elizabeth strengthens it with a promise and displays her
own self courage. Women in power were not always great leaders, and were seen as weak in war.
To oppose the view of women being weak in war, Elizabeth uses pathos in her speech to present
herself as not only a queen but a fighter as

Lord Of The Flies As A Psychological Allegory
Some speculate that the people who commit extremely appalling acts as adults were raised to
commit these ghastly crimes, while others believe that everyone is born with an evil already
inside of them. In William Golding s psychological fiction Lord of the Flies, the idea of being
born innately evil is recurrently alluded to. The novel is about a group of young British boys
who crash land on a remote island. They are left with no laws to tell them what they can or
cannot do, and are extremely frightened of a so called Beast that they expect lives on the island.
In the Lord of the Flies, The Beast symbolizes the evil and devilish proclivity inside of all humans.

Society and laws, however, have been put in place to keep this Beast hidden. Instead of being the
sweet little British boys that the children were expected to be in the beginning of the novel, the
Beast inside of these kids has shown not only their recklessness, but also their pure evil that has
been kept sequestered.
Not only is The Beast implanted in the children s heads, but it is also something that they can never
truly get rid of. Golding introduces this idea during a conversation between Simon and The Lord of
the Flies: Fancy thinking the Beast was something you could hunt and kill! said the head (Golding
143). By claiming that The Beast is not something that the children can hunt and kill, Golding
portrays his belief that the evil inside of all human beings cannot be exterminated. By portraying
this belief, Golding once again relates to the concept of The Beast being the id. Being that the id is
a part of a human s subconscious mind, it would be impossible to completely get rid of it.
However, throughout the text, Golding alludes to the fact that man s evil is covered up by the
rules and laws of society. This, in turn, causes the id to be covered up. One would never walk
amongst others acting completely on emotion. This would progenerate a completely rampageous
environment. Golding is suggesting that society s rules eliminate any chance of this sort of
environment. However, by stripping away society s rules on the island, Golding is

The Little Buddhism Analysis
The Little Buddha is an amazing, and uplifting movie, and full of positive meaning, yet it also is
full of religious meaning. Aspects of life and death are shown throughout the movie, but the film
mainly explains three key aspects of Buddhism. Buddhist teachings of reincarnation, impermanence,
and enlightenment, are connected deeply to each other and is illustrated throughout the film. The
first Buddhist teaching of reincarnation is evident from the beginning of the movie. The audience
starts to see these teachings when a Buddhist teacher is making it evident to his student (Lama
Norbu) that he is ready to reincarnate, after he passes away. Lama finds out that there are three
potential reincarnations of his teacher s soul. These reincarnates... Show more content on

It subtly explained that death is not permanent as it is merely a temporary state of one s soul that
will cycle on. The films depiction of impermanence gives the viewers the message of change and
how it is a part of life we all go through, however, death is not permanent. Nothing is forever in life,
everyone goes through changes that are positive and negative just like the films element of
impermanence, that provide the natural changes in the challenges of life. For instance, when one of
the reincarnates child s father s brother dies and they experience a difficult death, which is also
showing that life is not finite. Another illustration of impermanence and a lesson of reincarnation is
a scene where Lama Norbu explains what it means to reincarnate and its relation to the religion. He
explains that the mind and the body is like the content and the container . He illustrates this by
smashing his cup of tea, and states, the cup is not a cup anymore. Yet where is the tea? [...]just
like the mind after one dies, the tea(content) moves from one container to the next, but it is still tea
. This is an important point about how the soul travels from vessel to vessel. The vessels change
but the soul remains the same, like the tea in its cup, the floor, and in a

What Is Malcolm X s View Of Religion
The opinions that many people have about religion derive from their association with churches,
mosques, and other places of worship. However, Malcolm X defied the usual curve of religious
doctrine and embraced what he felt was right for him and those who shared his views. In his
autobiography, Malcolm X abandoned atheism to become a follower of the Nation of Islam(NOI)
and later, he ended up following Eastern Islam. In the Autobiography of Malcolm X, Malcolm s
views and his idealism is derived from his practice of Islam and his will to fight for the rights of
African Americans also come from the same base.
The theme of religion is introduced in the autobiography during Malcolm s time in the state
prison of Massachusetts. While in prison, he started to study books in a small library. Later in
1948, Malcolm was moved to Norfolk Prison. There was little violence in this prison and inmates
could debate and study freely. While in prison, Malcolm studied many books such as religion,
history, literature, linguistics, and biology. Malcolm first heard about the Nation of Islam from his
home when Reginald, his brother requested him to do so, and this became his first step into full
conversion to Islam. Reginald told him about a spiritual leader called Elijah Muhammad who
preached against the evils of white people and compared them as the devils. Consequently, he
recalled the way his family was split by social workers and a teacher who always watered down his

Observation Of Student Motivation
The teacher began the lesson by showing students a place value chart. The teacher also checked for
fluency by asking the students double fact addition sentences and had them write on their
individual white board. The teacher had the students use a place value chart to count $124 with in
their groups.
b. What was the motivational question or questions, if you can t identify one or any state that?
Why do we call this a place value chart?
How much do you have?
If you have 10 dollar bills, what can you do?
How did you organize your money?
c. What teaching strategies were used to maintain student motivation throughout the lesson?
The first strategy I saw the teacher use was activating student s prior knowledge. The teacher asked
the students several questions that made students think throughout the lesson. The teacher had the
students engaged by using a dry erase board and a marker. The teacher also used manipulatives
such as fake money and a place value chart to have students count money. Last but not least the
teacher planned for group work.
d. What student behavior gave you the impression that students were indeed motivated to learn?
The students were actively engaged. They seemed excited to be able to participate by using their
boards. Some students found it almost like a competition when the teacher was checking for
fluency. I noticed that students that usually don t like to participate put their hands up. The
students seemed excited when

Urban Agriculture In Cuba Essay
Sustainability and Security with Urban Agriculture in Cuba Many people know Cuba for its
cigars and rum, both products made from the two major agricultural products grown on the
island, but Cuba has made headlines for something different in the past decade: urban
agriculture. Before the Soviet Bloc collapse in 1989, the bloc accounted for eighty five percent
of Cuba s trade, and with its collapse, Cuban imports dropped by seventy five percent... (Altieri
131). One of the major imports from the Soviet Bloc was Russian oil, which fell by almost fifty
percent after the collapse causing Cubans to reassess farming techniques. Officially called the

Finally, empresas estatales are large farms run as state enterprises, many with increasing
decentralization, autonomy, and degrees of profit sharing with workers (Warwick). Since urban
agriculture began in Cuba, a Spanish speaking country, most of the terms are in Spanish without
English translations as the practice is still becoming popular in English speaking countries.
Before the Special Period, Cuban agriculture relied heavily on chemical pesticides and fertilizers
to tend to the monoculture, mega farms that only focused heavily exports; however, during the
Special Period, farming techniques shifted to a more sustainable and local production. During
the Revolution, ...pesticide use increased fourfold. By 1989, [the year of the Soviet Bloc
collapse] Cuba s consumption of herbicides and pesticides was close to 34,000 tons per year, and
herbicides were being applied to approximately one third of the country s cultivated land (Gonzalez

to any changes in trade relations with the Soviet Bloc. Consequently, when the collapse occurred in
1989, Cuba had to find new ways to control pests, and the solution contained multiple parts. In the

Alien Abduction Analysis
The premise of the article is based around the concept of repressed and fake memories. In essence
the article mentions that there are various reasons that would result in fake or repressed memories.
The reasons that are initially mentioned are cases of traumatic events and in some cases
nontraumatic events. As for the main argument of the article simply put the author(s) are
attempting to find an explanation of the reasons of alien abductions as a way to find the reasons as
to why some people report various accounts of alien abduction with no actual concept or
explanation to support the validity of the claim outside of simple knowing they were abducted on
the basis that they just know. As for the results of their study the researchers found that in many

As for my thoughts on the article it was a rather interesting concept in regards to the general
functionality of the mind that in most cases people are more or less unaware of the subtle changes.
Further solidifying the simple fact that one s memory of past events are simply unreliable.
Basically due to the fact that as time pases a large section of details related to that memory become
forgotten ultimately resulting in the brain creating a replacement memory in many cases changing
slightly after every attempt to recall that select memory. Although at the same time i understand that
the alien abduction had only been a concept to test it was rather distracting as something that
seemed so outlandish it painted a picture of a garden variety conspiracy theorist sitting in the
office of the researches rambling on about how they simply know they had been abducted and that
s why they can never take off their tin foil hats. Granted that is not to say that there is no possible
chance that there are other life forms on different planets (particularly in a statistical perspective)
however, for a article that had an important and serious study results the general concept of a

In A Rose for Emily , William Faulkner uses imagery and symbolism to both illustrate and
strengthen the most prevalent theme; Emily s resistance to change. William Faulkner seems to
reveal this theme through multiple descriptions of Miss Grierson s actions, appearance, and her
home. Throughout the short storyit is obvious that Emily has a hard time letting go of her past, she
seems to be holding onto every bit of her past. Readers see this shown in several ways, some more
obvious than others. William Faulkneruses imagery to represent Miss Grierson s confrontation to
change by vividly describing her appearance. With the description given of Emily, readers might
conclude that it symbolizes her inability to change. He describes... Show more content on

She, Emily, is physically living but not in the present; she is stuck living in her past. We first
see this when her father dies, She told them that her father was not dead. She did that for three
days, with the ministers calling on her, and the doctors, trying to persuade her to let them
dispose of the body. (Faulkner). This depicts that she is enamored of the dead which is why she
resists in letting them bury her father. Emily did not want to kept denying her father s death so
she decided to hold onto him. By the description Faulkner gives, one may say Emily just did not
know how to adapt to change. With that being said, she feared change so she did not want to let
go because she was so dependent on her father and now he was gone. Once Emily passed on and
was buried, people from her town go into her house and discover a decomposed corpse along
with the strand of gray hair on the pillow next to what was formerly Homer Barron. Faulkner
explains in detail yet again what was found, ...What was left of him, rotted beneath what was left
of the nightshirt...Then we noticed that in the second pillow was the indentation of a head...we
saw a long strand of iron grey hair . With this being said it is discovered that she, Emily, had been
sleeping next to his dead body for years. These two examples are prime reasons one could conclude
that she had an issue letting go of her past. Throughout the short story Emily seemed to not want to

The People Of Dune By Robert O Reilly
The people of Dune are lead by the hope that someone stronger than them will take on their
challenges. The planet has begun its ecological transformation when it comes into the possession
of Duke Leto Atreides. Paul Atreides, the son of the Duke, will become the leader of the
Fremen. The story tells of the Lisan al Gaib, the voice from the outer world, which will share the
dreams of the Fremen and lead them to fulfillment (O Reilly). There is a legend among the
Fremen that a savior will ensure the success of the transformation. It becomes a rumor that Paul is
that messiah because he intuitively knows how to perform Fremen tasks, such as properly wearing
a stillsuit. Then, Paul s mother makes it known that the Atreides will support the transformation,
adding to the belief that Paul is their messiah. Their strong, unconscious projection makes him
even more special than he is (O Reilly). Indeed, the Fremen want to believe that there is someone
who can help them, someone who is capable of doing what they are unable to accomplish. It was a
story about [...] an outsider who went native and used religious fervor to fuel his own ambitions in
this case, to transform the ecology of the planet (O Reilly). Then, Paul joins the Fremen in the
desert, which intensifies the Fremen belief in him. Paul is an important figure for the Fremen, but
not only the them. He is also essential to the sisterhood of the Bene Gesserit. The Bene Gesserit is

Community Ecology Lab
Ecosystem is made up of all populations living together and the physical factors with which they
interact with their environment. The ecosystem gets its energy from the only source, the sun,
which make it important. The sun plays significant roles in ecosystem functioning of
photosynthesis. In this lab, we will focus mostly on population and community ecology. Population
ecology is a group of organisms of the same species living in the same place at the same time.
Factors that affect the number of individuals living in a habitat are the population growth rate, size,
birth and death rates. Community ecology focuses on the interactions between organisms as to

Sargeant Reynolds. We explored and observed the different types of plants and animals in the forest
that make up the ecosystem. We found a diversity of plants and animals: millipede (apheloria
virginiensis), Darkling beetle, pine cone, northern pin, holly tree, and turkey tail fungus. (trametes
versicolor) Records were kept of the presence and absence of different species. Not all of the
species of interest were found during the observing time. The time and day that we did the
observation is also the cause of the absences of certain animals.
Purpose:
The purpose of this lab is to analyse and explain how the ecosystem work in our community. How
birth and death rates have impact on the living population. If the rate of the bug eating bird grow
larger then the population of the insects will decline. Discussion:
Food web is a network of food chains with a number of feeding connections amongst different
organism of a biotic community. The food chain starts from decayed plants and animals to the
micro organisms and then to detritus feeding organism and to other predator. There are three
trophic levels. Starting with producers, consumers, and decomposers. Plants such as holly leaves
and pine trees are types of producer that make their own food through photosynthesis and do not
depend on any other organism for nutrition. Millipedes and darkling beetles are in the next trophic
level,

Innocents and Hope of Children Corrupted
It is common knowledge that children represent innocence and hope for the future. Many
individuals, unfortunately, take advantage of such innocence and corrupt it. This corruption has
taken place around the world with no end in sight. The corruption of children can take place in
many forms, such as emotionally and psychologically but the most gruesome method is for
sexual exploitation and pornography. Child pornography is historically extremely difficult to
define. The first brush occurrence of child pornography with American law was the memorable
case of Jacobeelis v. Ohio 378 US 184 in 1964 (Gillespie, 2010, p. 19). In this case, the well
known phrase of I know it when I see it is used to describe how child pornographic material differs
from adult pornography by Supreme Court Justice Stewart. This phrase is still used by law
professionals today but it has caused difficulties because there is no apparent definition for law
enforcement to know what to investigate and prevent. Very late in the century, the United States,
along with England and Wales, established the first laws to handle child pornography, but there was
little guidelines set to distinguish between adult and children pornography (Gillespie, 2010, p. 20).
Distinguishing between the two categories of pornography is carried out with three main
components: the meaning of child, which is determined with biological measures such as puberty
to identify the age, the form of the material, the form that the obscene

The Evolution of the Relationship of Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth Bennet Whether a relationship

  • 2. Online Music Video Analysis For those that have yet to encounter the listening experience of vinyl I encourage you to do so now. These videos do not fully project the real life experience vinyl provides to the listener but it does meet some of the criteria. The first video is Mozart on vinyl. There s something intriguing and also appealing to hear the popping and cracking from the commencement of the record. This video demonstrates just that. This experience is not common on all vinyl records but it s definitely one of my favorites. The second video is Beethoven s Moonlight Sonata. As a vinyl enthusiast I enjoy seeing the record spin around and around as if the musicis coming off the record. Lastly, the third video is Frank Mills Music box dancer. As it was stated previously vinyl sounds feel more alive this is a perfect depiction. The pianosounds as if someone is playing directly inside the room. 1.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_bDHBIb4brw 2.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oKPhGHAdqk0 3. ... Throughout my duration in this course one of my key learnings has been that the old becomes the new and the new becomes the old. Our textbook served as a time capsule that provided a glimpse into the past. At the conclusion of every chapter I was able to make references from the past to the present. This notion may not apply to all content presented but items that resonate with individuals that link them to places, people and times of the past seem to reappear. This was one of the reasons why I selected the theme of vinyl. It s a timeless piece that that signifies more than just a record. My father s vinyl collection remains in my possession up until this day. Even though he passed 10 years ago the moment the tone arm needle makes contact with one of his records it s as if he never ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. Cognitive Dissonance Theory Leon Festinger created the cognitive dissonance theory as an attempt to explain why people desire to have consistency between their behaviors and actions. Cognitive dissonance is the distressing mental state people feel when they find themselves doing things that don t fit with what they know, or having opinions that do not fit with other opinions they hold (Festinger, 1957; as cited in Griffin, 2009). Thus, people are motivated to change either their behavior or their belief when feelings of dissonance arise. Dissonance is reduced using three mental strategies. Selective exposure is the strategy used before a decision is made. The premise of this strategy is to avoid information that is likely to increase dissonance. The second... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The difference between condition one and three is that condition three allowed the participants to self affirm after finding out their verdict was in disagreement with the other group members. Festinger argues that the lack of choice adds consonant cognitions which reduce the overall amount of dissonance that otherwise would be experienced (Festinger, 1957, 1958; as cited in Matz Woods, 2005). Additionally, the opportunity to self affirm strengthens self worth and thereby reduces the dissonance created when people s actions threaten their personal integrity (Simon, Greenberg, Brehm, 1995; as cited in Matz Woods, 2005). Thus, Matz and Woods hypothesize that dissonance will be reduced by the lack of choice and the opportunity to self affirm. The results show low levels of discomfort in the lack of choice and self affirmation conditions, providing an explanation of the kinds of strategies people use to reduce dissonance. Study three introduces an interpersonal strategy introduced by Festinger: changing one s own attitude to align with others opinions (Festinger, 1957; as cited in Matz Woods, 2005). Building off of Festinger s idea of changing one s attitude three conditions are used in this study. The three strategies used are: (a) changing one s own attitudes to agree with others in the group, (b) influencing others to change their opinion, and (c) joining a different, attitudinally congenial group. • 7. A Brief Note On Chad Cameroon Petroleum Development And... In 2003, construction ended on a pipeline project more commonly referred to as the CCPP (Chad Cameroon Petroleum Development and Pipeline Project). The main actors in this project besides the World Bank consisted of a triumvirate of oil companies with Exxon Mobil at the helm, along with Petronas Malaysia ChevronTexaco. The project was under many watchful eyes in the global political theater as it hoped to prove as a model for other developing countries. It also sought to break the spell of the resource curse which it is generally known, is that countries rich in natural resources, specially oil, tend to suffer from lower living standards, slower growth rates and higher incidence of conflict than their resource poor counterparts. (Auty, 1997) The project entailed constructing a pipeline which would begin in the Doba basin in Chad which was said to contain in excess of 1 billion barrels of oil and stretch southwest through to the Cameroonian port city of Kribi. This pipeline measures an impressive 1,070 kilometers and had an initial price tag of $3.5 billion; which was later then confirmed by Exxon Mobil to, in fact, cost $4.2 billion. Unsurprisingly, the main reward from these barrels of black gold would be a monetary reward for all the parties involved. For Chad, the revenues were estimated to be $5 billion over the course of 25 years and this didn t consider other potential oil fields. The World Bankattempted to ensure that any revenues on the Chad side, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Strategic Position Statement Strategic Position Statement Netflix is the world s largest online movie rental service. We provide over 100,000 choices of DVDs to more than eight million of our subscribers. We saw how the Internet is changing the way people buy and sell goods. We saw an opportunity in the movie rental industry and decided to provide a novel product and service from the convenience of ones home. Here s how Netflix works. First Netflix customers choose which type of monthly package they want. They then make a list of movies that they want to watch. Movies are then shipped to the customer. After the customer has viewed their movies they send the movies back and we send them the next title on their list. All with no late fees or shipping fees.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One way to manage this would be to own quality relative to industry standards. Another critical success factor from the customer s point of view would be price. Netflix has to keep a relatively low price to make them stand out from traditional rental stores. One way to measure this would be to own a price lower that that relative to traditional rental stores. As technology changes so do some of the products that we carry. When blu ray movies were chosen as the standard for high definition movies our inventory had to reflect that. As sales of blu ray improved we should watch what percent of sales come from these discs. There are also critical success factors that come from internal capabilities. When dealing with Netflix we have to make sure that we are very efficient. Customers will expect to get their DVD s promptly. To make sure we are doing this we monitor the cycle time. Also within the company we need to track the number of new customers we get. To do this we should measures the amount of new people that sign up for Netflix. Now focusing our attention to the critical success factors of innovation. When looking at this, the one thing that stands out is market leadership. There are few other DVD by mail companies that can compete with Netflix. Our market share measures this. When looking at critical success factors from the financial perspective there are two things that stand out. The first being Netflix sales. We ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. European Exploration Religion Exploration Essay Religion was not a major reason for European exploration because many of the European traders and travelers wanted to get rich by finding gold or some other valuable object, people wanted to travel to another place because of their country s poverty, disease, or and economic backwardness, and also that the Europeans started traveling more ever since their technology and navigation was more developed. First, there are valid evidences to support that economics were more important to travelers and traders than religion. The first supporting evidence of this is, The rise of capitalism in Europe was undoubtedly a powerful spur to the process. Merchants, adventures, and government officials had high hopes of finding precious metals and expanding the areas of trade, especially for the spices of the East. Another supporting evidence is, Europe was poorly endowed with gold. Many mines which had formerly produced gold were now all but exhausted; much gold had been lost to Europe through plunder and continuing trade with the East. The study of psychology aims to help us understand the the complexity of the brain. To help understand the behavior and mind and to assist in embracing all aspects of conscious and unconscious experience. And while we aim to categorize and understand all aspects of the mind, it seems that we end up highlight complex, fascinating and uniquely different each individual s mind works. One of the unique ways we ve categorized the way our brainprocesses information is through senses. We ll take a look at each sensein the coming paragraphs. The ability to detect and interpret the events that are occurring around us allows us to respond to these stimuli appropriately (Gibson Pick, 2000). The human brain has a large capacity to interpret information through sight, hearing, taste, smell and touch. One of the examples in chapter 4 of our book talks about our capacities for sense is like a kaleidoscope. In in a perfect scenario all senses work together in a beautiful medley. Take the following excerpt for example: In many ways our senses are quite remarkable. The human eye can detect the equivalent of a single candle flame burning 30 miles away and can distinguish among more than 300,000 different colors. The human ear can detect sounds as low as 20 hertz (vibrations per second) and as high as 20,000 hertz, and it can hear the tick of a clock about 20 feet away in a quiet room. We can taste a ... Article #5 In a study Herrmann, Petit, Dawson, Biechele, Halfmann, von MГјller ... and GГ¤rtner (2013) conducted a widespread screening in the admission of patients to hospitals for methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). The purpose of this study is to show that to help control the spread of MRSA in hospitalby having admission prevalence screenings. MRSA is a major nosocomial infection in hospitals and has become a problem that can be hard to manage in patient safety. There are certain risk factors that a patient can possess when they become infected with MRSA or are positive carriers. So, if there can be a prevalence screening for these risk factors upon admission hospitals would be able to tell if the MRSA was acquired while in the hospital or if the patient was already infected. In the other case studies discussed they examine steps that can be taken in the case of MRSA already infecting patients and then treating, isolating, and preventing from infecting many more. The study administered by Herrmann et al. examines patients upon admission meaning this could help reduce the spread of MRSA other than finding that it infected patients already admitted. Since this study was focusing on prevalence screening they needed participates from all over the region. During this study 24 hospitals participated: 12 hospitals had less than 200 beds, 10 hospitals that had up to 500 beds, one hospital with 600 beds, and one with close to 1300 beds (Herrmann et al., 2013). ... Brian Friel explores the modernization affect individuals and communities that occurred as a result of the conquering English language. He examines how language shapes reality, whilst questioning the assumption that any two people can share the same reality; ideas can be translated between cultures without necessarily being altered. The play offers a parable about the fate of a parochial attitude for those who are not familiar with Irish history. Brain Friel is considered to be concerned with the nuances of both personal and cultural national identity and its relation to colonial dispossession, issues of home, language, tradition... (Bertha 2006, 154). Friel writes a story of how one nation lost its language, culture and literature as a result of being conquered by another. He explores the reasons behind this loss and the ways in which society can overcome this sense of isolation. There is a sense of forced assimilation through the loss of the Irish language, with the reoccurring feeling of isolation appearing to be the result. A lack of mutual understanding is present between not only the British and Irish but also the Irish themselves, for there are common disputes about conforming to the English language. This might not seem like a major problem today, but at that point, Ireland was being governed from another country that many felt didn t have their best interests at heart. William Ewart Gladstone, the British Prime Minister in 1886, brought up this issue when introducing the first Home Rule bill to the House of Commons. Because the law came to Irelandwith a foreign aspect, and in a foreign garb , it didn t feel to the people to be truly Irish law or coming from their needs. Because of this, even legislation with good intentions were met with distrust and displeasure. He argued that sometimes it wasn t enough that the laws were good; they needed to come from the right source as well. There were, however, points to be left to the Crown, including imperial affairs, the armed forces, and foreign relations. They also shouldn t pass a law favoring one religion over another. The Home Rule Conference agreed on these points, asking only for control over domestic affairs to be placed in the hands of an Irish Parliament. They also agreed in the belief that increasing Irish autonomy would strengthen and honor the Crown rather than weakening or degrading it. The theme is the mystery of death and the correspondence of the life of the moth with the true nature of life. Death is a difficult subject for anyone to speak of but it part of life. The Death Process, the struggling and fighting against death. It is demonstrated that death was inevitable, humans tend to fight against death and anything in the way of the power will fail eventually. Moths are associated with death as a symbol. The character of the moth itself is a metaphorical reference and also the representation of Woolf s mental illnesses. The moth s battle with death can represent the struggle Woolf had with her illnesses, the ups and downs in her own personal battles. The acceptance of death relates to the suicide of Woolf, after many successes and failures, you can t always keep fighting. The moral is that regardless of what happens to someone, life goes on and the world does not stop turning. The word death is repeated many times in the last paragraph as it is trying to emphasize that nothing can win the battle against oncoming doom. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The prime and the most important objective of the organisations are to make profits and sell their products and services effectively (Singh and Kaur, 2011). Psychological discounting The most widely used strategy in the UK is the psychological pricing. It has proved to be effective in motivating purchase decisions. An example of this type of pricing would be 2.99 or 5.99 etc. This restricts customer to round off and therefore proceed towards purchase. Examples above provide ample evidence about the importance of pricing in marketing strategies. However, pricing strategies have some limitations too. An Article by Arnold Anderson suggests that pricing strategies offer many disadvantages to the product and eventually distracts consumers from making purchases. If a company uses low prices to attract consumers, it can affect credibility of the company and perception of quality on consumer s mind. Let us assume a company selling products at low price such as Asda, it would have to maintain the low price leader tag. If they are found increasing their prices more than their competitors, it will lose credibility being a low price leader. Secondly, if Asda sells products less than what the product should actually be worth in the mind of the consumer, consumers would eventually believe that the quality of the product would be really low. In both cases, consumers would end up changing their purchase decision towards another company. Franklin (2011) discusses that pricing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

So storefronts can do the shipping for free then people will turn to more interested. For example, a customer went shopping to a mall and saw a hat afterwards he wants to buy he can order by making a call to the shop. It is very comfortable and the customer can trust the store because he already saw the hat. But with online shopping people never see the product before so they can not trust that the product is the same one in the website or not. In this strategy, storefronts can attack online shopping on the point that people can buy things from their home or everywhere they want. Secondly, Storefront businesses should open more branch shops because it is easy for customers to go to the shop nearest their home and they will see the real product after which they can make a decision to buy it. The weakness of online shopping is that you have to be really careful in choosing the site from which you want to buy the things you need. Some sites just lose your money and will not give you anything. Another problem is the quality of the things you get. For instance, if you order food and you get an old or bad item you are able to send it back but you will not get anything for that. However, if the things you are looking for are not far away from your house it must be easier and better to buy from the shop than the internet because you do not have to wait for ... • 40. Rhetorical Analysis Of Queen Elizabeth Queen Elizabeth I is considered to be one of the most powerful women in history. In 1588, as ruler of England, she was faced with an invasion against Spain for control over trade in the new world. Her Against the Spanish Armada speech was addressed to the English Army at Tilbury Fort to help motivate and boost assurance, as well as showing support to her troops over the battle they were about to face. With her passionate words and courageous way, Queen Elizabeth establishes a connection with her soldiers; appealing to their patriotism and emotions through logos, pathos, and ethos. Although she was uncertain of a famous victory , Elizabeth instills the reassurance they need to fight against Spain and leading them to victory in the end. Elizabeth s relationship with her people is built on faith and love, not fear or tyranny. In the beginning of her speech she addresses the soldiers as My loving people. She refers to her troops as faithful and loving, showing the appreciation and loyalty that she has for her soldiers. She feels she must acknowledge the important bond between herself and her soldiers by showing them that she is not just a distant queen. To assure her troops of her faith in them, she uses logos in her speech to encourage her soldiers to fight for the good of England. For example, she lets them know by saying ... I have placed my chiefest strength and safeguard in the loyal hearts and good will of my subjects. She uses repetition of the word I and We to show that she is not just a queen but a fellow Englishman. ...to live or die amongst you all; to lay down, for my God, and for my kingdom, and for my people, my honor and my blood, even the dust , shows that she is a part of the people and will fight side by side with them to defend their country. This would be the first thing that her soldiers fight for, a people and ruler relationship that is bound by love and trust. After she established the bond, Elizabeth strengthens it with a promise and displays her own self courage. Women in power were not always great leaders, and were seen as weak in war. To oppose the view of women being weak in war, Elizabeth uses pathos in her speech to present herself as not only a queen but a fighter as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

They are left with no laws to tell them what they can or cannot do, and are extremely frightened of a so called Beast that they expect lives on the island. Not only is The Beast implanted in the children s heads, but it is also something that they can never truly get rid of. Golding introduces this idea during a conversation between Simon and The Lord of the Flies: Fancy thinking the Beast was something you could hunt and kill! said the head (Golding 143). By claiming that The Beast is not something that the children can hunt and kill, Golding portrays his belief that the evil inside of all human beings cannot be exterminated. By portraying this belief, Golding once again relates to the concept of The Beast being the id. Being that the id is a part of a human s subconscious mind, it would be impossible to completely get rid of it. However, throughout the text, Golding alludes to the fact that man s evil is covered up by the rules and laws of society. This, in turn, causes the id to be covered up. Golding is suggesting that society s rules eliminate any chance of this sort of environment. However, by stripping away society s rules on the island, Golding is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Many individuals, unfortunately, take advantage of such innocence and corrupt it. This corruption has taken place around the world with no end in sight. The corruption of children can take place in many forms, such as emotionally and psychologically but the most gruesome method is for sexual exploitation and pornography. Child pornography is historically extremely difficult to define. The first brush occurrence of child pornography with American law was the memorable case of Jacobeelis v. Ohio 378 US 184 in 1964 (Gillespie, 2010, p. 19). In this case, the well known phrase of I know it when I see it is used to describe how child pornographic material differs from adult pornography by Supreme Court Justice Stewart.
