- 3. Social media has changed the way we live our lives. From the way we get our news to the way we interact with our loved ones. Social media is everywhere. It’s unavoidable, it’s powerful, and it’s here to stay.

- 6. There are 4.8 billion social media users worldwide, representing 59.9% of the global population and 92.7% of all internet users. There were 150 million new social media users between April 2022 and April 2023 – a 3.2% increase year-over- year.

- 10. A social media algorithm is a complex set of rules and calculations used by social media platforms to prioritize the content that users see in their feeds.
- 12. It is based on how likely it is for every individual socia media user to like and interact with it. Algorithms are the reason why two social media users will not see the same content, even if they are followin the same accounts.
- 13. The algorithm of every social media platform is different, but they are all based on machine learning and a set of factors called ranking signals.
- 14. As the name implies, machine learning emphasizes the continuous learning of machines to solve problems like humans. Machine learning could enable automation of tasks, detection of patterns, and learning from historical data.
- 15. RANKING SIGNALS These are exactly what they sound like: signals used to rank the value of each individual piece of content for each individual user. Ranking signals are individualized because they are often based on your previous interactions with the app.
