Monotheism Vs Abrahamic Religion
Monotheism is the act of believing in one God. The three religions that practice monotheism are
Judaism, Christianity and Islam. Each of these religions have a direct link to Abraham; thus being
called the Abrahamic Religions. Judaism is linked to Abraham as he is proclaimed as the
Patriarch of the Jewish people and the Father of the Covenant. Likewise, Muslims view Abraham
as the Father of the Arab people as well as the Jewish people through his two sons, Isaac and
Ishmael. Christians view Abraham as the prototype of all believers, the Father of the Covenant and
the Father of Isaac and Ishmael. Sacred traditions are treated with both celebration and seriousness
in the monotheistic religions.
Just as God instructed Abraham 4000 years ago, a sacred Jewish ritual would be the circumcision
of all baby boys when they reach eight days of age. Another ritual is when families gather to
welcome the Holy day of the Sabbath. For a Jewish person, their religion is very much dedicating
their lives to God, where their whole life becomes an act of worship. The LORD would speak to
Moses face to face, as a man speaks with his friend. But after getting the 10 commandments Moses

Leonardo Da Vinci And The Government
This is a universal truth that majority of artist are not earning substantial income, and
consequently to carry out their creativity ought to gain endowment from government. I agree to
the statement, that government is expected to support the artists beside the fact to give them
quality of life and save culture, as well to encourage them to provide a stable neighbourhood.
The artists are empowered with creativity and vision, who creates an extreme simplification of a
complex thing. Owning such capabilities still not deliver a handsome income for survival. No
one had visualize that they can fly like birds, a great artist Leonardo Da Vinci conceive the
concept of an aeroplane, an armour vehicle and paddle powered water vessel and portray it.

The Impact Of The Military Revolution On Japan
A military revolution started in sixteenth century in Europe with the introduction of firearms
(Stavros 243). Before the military revolution, Japan was divided in region and controlled by
different warlords and the country was politically unstable. However, after the arrival of firearms
from the West, Japan has changed dramatically. The result of the military revolution was the
development of a strong central power, which helped Japan become a modern nation (McNeill and
McNeill 197). Oda Nobunaga, a military leader, and his successor, Toyotomi Hideyoshiwas able to
unify Japan under a single powerful, central government and brought political stability (Brown
238). This essay will explore political impact of firearms as well as economic and... Show more

The extensive production of muskets and ammunition helped economy grow rapidly. As the
demand for guns grew, skilled gunsmiths established schools and workshops to train men and
numerous numbers of shops started to emerge throughout Japan. Sakai and Yokkaichi and
Kunitomo became especially well known as the center of manufacturer of firearms. According
to the writing by a Portuguese explorer, Japan was able to produce a large number of guns just
within two or three years and there were over 300,000 guns by 1556 (Brown 238). The
construction of the Osaka Castle stimulated greater industrial and commercial business. This
castle was built to express Hideyoshi s power but another contributing factor was the usage of
artillery in siege warfare (Brown 249). In 1586, the Osaka Castle was completed. The walls of
the castle consist of large granite stones that were about 10 feet wide and 40 feet long and the
total thickness of the wall is 18 to 21 feet. The eight storied castle had iron covered gates and
roofs and the base of the castle was mainly made out of stone (Brown 248). These large quantities
of high quality materials contributed to the flow of economy. In addition, the movement of large
number of soldiers to long distance places also contributed in economy (Brown

Implement Person Centred Approaches in Health and Social Care
Unit 4222 207
Implement person centred approaches in health and social care
1.1 Person centred values are guides on how individuals are treated. These values are: * Dignity
supporting individuals to maintain emotional control and supporting individuals with sensitive
situations. * Respect recognising an individual s sense of worth and importance to others. * Privacy
making sure individuals rights is maintained. * Individuality recognising an individual as an
individual.
1.2 It is important to work in a way that embeds person centred values this is because you then
include the individual in activities and allowing them to make choices. People with disabilities
should be seen as equal partners and not people ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example a carer getting the client to undress themselves rather than the carer doing it for them.
This gets the individual involved in the task and it also maximise their independence. The
individual will become more confident in themselves as they know they can now do the task. This
will make them determined to do other tasks.
You encourage the individual by finding out what their personal history is, likes and dislikes.
This will play an important part in active participation. By taking the person centred approach to
care means you are looking for ways to meet the individual s needs and wishes. This is very
different to a service approach because you cannot get an individual to fit in if they don t fit in. By
making the individual fit in will make the individual unhappy and the individual may want to fight
back because they are not happy.
4.2 Barriers to active participation are: * The carer can lack understanding of the individual s
personal history, health and cognitive status and social abilities. * The carer may view the
person as a passive recipient of care who is always dependent on others. * The carer may be not
committed to making the active participation approach work. * The carer may lack patience and
tenacity when pursuing active participation goals. * The carer may have low expectations of the
person s ability to develop, change and achieve.

Academic Goals
I. Introduction: Growing up less affluent, I have always set goals for myself. Not long term goals
because being modest long term goals were unimaginable. I had to focus on today s goals which
were attainable. Mother always told me that competition is the key to success. Will, held on to that
belief until I got older and needed to rely on goals rather competition. Competition can only carry
you to a certain point; however, goalsetting is for a lifetime.
II. Thesis Statement: Goals setting is a greater predictor of academic success than competition,
goals provide a sense of purpose because it gives direction and increases motivation. III. Goals

Well, I fluctuate between end and goal and the goal always win. D. Set realistic goals The higher
the goal, the greater the motivation. Gigantic goals can become overwhelming so a break down
the larger goals into series of smaller goals (I will finish my first online with a greater sense
awareness)
E. Set timely goals: Setting realistic time frames for completing your goal will set you on a steady
pace of achieving your goal (I will complete 12.6 semesters each year until graduation).
V. The most import reason Goals provide a sense of purpose is because it gives direction A. The
grandstand of goal setting is directions because that is what gives you energy. When you have
direction it is less stress and strain in your life because it like having a road map you know where
you a going without guessing. You do not waste time going in circles and arriving nowhere.
B. With a clear cut goal, you know where you are heading and can always correct the course.
C. To change your life for the better, you must have the goal with directions. It like trying to fish
with no direction on how to cast you going to tangle your line. Every new year s, I would set a
goal to lose weight, but fail because I had no directions. I think that part of the problem was that I
had a wish to lose weight without a directional plan such as I will exercise twice a week, or not eat 3

Men And The Paradox Of Sexual Freedom By Leslie Bell Essay
Men and women face many social obstacles when faced within a community that has demanding
masculine and feminine roles. Men are projected to be extremely masculine and not allow fear,
anxiety, or vulnerability to show through. Women, on the other hand, are encouraged to be strong,
pursue their careers, and experiment with their sexuality. Although women are gaining power,
they are still left with a feeling of confusion about themselves. Leslie Bell author of, Hard to Get:
Twenty Something Women and the Paradox of Sexual Freedom , reveals the idea of women
experimenting sexually, but at the same time experiencing a sense of confusion and pressure to
settle down and marry in their twenties. The societal view is confusing for twenty something
women which causes women to demonstrate either/ or thinking within themselves. Bell s patient,
Jayantha is splitting her desires by deciding to be bad and rejecting relationship and not showing
signs of vulnerability. Due to her confusion, Jayanthi chose an identity that she could fully control;
the bad girl. As mentioned previously, men are also exposed to certain morals within society
which are explored in Susan Faludi s The Naked Citadel . All of the cadets live as humans behind
the walls of The Citadel, where they can express their inner humanity, escape from difficulties of
being a manin the real world, while still following the standards of manliness. The Citadel is a
place that allows men to detach from the societal

Romanticism In The Tree Of Life By Terrence Malick
When I first heard of the word Romanticism , I automatically assumed it was more of an intricate
way to say romance but romanticism is much more than pursuing someone. Romanticism is a
movement of art and literature that formulated around the late 18th century that is characterized
by strong emotions, individualism and the glorification of all past and nature. The Tree of Life
directed by Terrence Malick is a perfect example of romanticism and conforms well with Hugo s
manifesto on Romanticism. It is about the story of a family in Waco, Texas in 1950 s that loses
one of their sons. Growing up, the eldest son and struggles with his parents conflicting teachings.
Later in life he looks back on his childhood and through his memories, tries to find the meaning
of life. Terrence s film complies with Hugo s preface on romanticism by featuring moments from
the past, incorporation of nature and containing organized religion. In The Tree of Life the
journey begins when we learn that a son has died and it takes us on this course of the oldest
brother s Jack, reminiscence growing up in this family. As we see him mature in age, his innocence
is lost because of his father s questioning family ideals and rules. His father instructs these
household manners against his brothers and Jack when their father doesn t follow them himself. So
eventually we see the son s back talk to him and revolt against their father. Their mother is a
bystander whenever their father is around, but when he

Sectionalism Due to Western Expansion Essay
The Antebellum period from 1800 to 1850 marked a time of sectionalism in American history.
Furthermore, new territories gained during western expansion added to this conflict between
different sections of America. Southern states wanted new slave territories, while the North wanted
to contain the spread of slavery. While Western expansion contributed to growing sectional tensions
between the North and South from 1800 1820, sectionalism intensified significantly from 1820
1850. Since the turn of the nineteenth century, Western territorial expansion started to increase a
sense of sectionalism throughout America. President Jefferson obtained the Louisiana purchase

Any state admitted into the Union bellow this line would decide the legality of slavery for their
new state, by popular sovereignty. This temporarily maintained the balance of slave states and free
states in the Union, while increasing sectionalism throughout America. Neither the North or South
wanted the other section to have more states favoring their own slavery ideals, in fear of biased
representation in the Senate. Furthermore, sectionalism was demonstrated by the fact that congress
felt the need to implement The Gag rule ; This disallowed congress from discussing the issue of
slavery for the next thirty years (while only lasting a decade). Though members of the house tried to
pass the Wilmot proviso, which would ban slavery in newly acquired Mexican territories,
Southerners naturally opposed this. Disagreements over how to decide the newly acquired land s
position on slavery, further intensified sectionalism between the North and South. At one point the
South even tried to pass the Ostend Manifesto in an attempt to purchase Cuba from Spain, and
admit it into the Union as a slave state. Although this effort failed, it strongly represents the intense
sectionalism during the time: As an entire portion of the country acted autonomously to secure an
additional state to gain power over their Northern neighbors. Finally, the compromise of 1850 was
passed, declaring popular sovereignty as the determining factor of the position of slavery among the
land

Copthorne Hotel – Department Analysis Essay
Copthorne Hotel Department Analysis
Finance
The finance department at the Copthorne Hotel is extremely important to the running of the hotel.
Some of the finance operations are carried out within the hotel and some are centrally carried out.
For example: Overall accounts, balance sheets for the whole company,
Annual reports and break even analysis area all carried out centrally.
These are all done centrally to reduce the amount of pressure on the individual hotels and to make
sure that they have al the information sorted instead of waiting or the individual hotels to send all

The finance department would need to work out a break even analysis to make sure they are
charging the right amount of money for a room. They would need to do this so they do not lose
money.
A way of doing this is to complete a survey of all the other hotels in the country. They could see
how much money the other hotels are charging for a room and if they are making enough profit.
This way they could work out the right price for their rooms.
The finance department would also have to work out a way to make some money to pay back
some interest on their borrowed money. They would have to create a Business Plan outlining how
the borrowed money will make a profit for the hotel.
They would also have to work out a fail safe way to pay the employee s wages. If their wages are
paid on time then the employees will hopefully stay happy and make sure they keep the up the
good customer service. Also, if the finance department pay all of the invoices on time, it will keep
the suppliers happy which in turn will help the departments receive their resources. This will then
allow the staff to maintain the high service expected.

Basic Rules of Driving
Before driving a car, you must learn first what road signs, colors, and sign shapes mean. You need
to learn what the different road signs mean and what they look like. There are many signs which
you must follow in order to get to your destination. It is very important that you learn all these
before actually driving. Another thing you must know is which lane you must drive in and how to
turn into a lane. The reason is because you cannot get into a car without knowing what to do while
on the road. In order to drive a car you must first take drivers training, if you have never driven a
car. Then you take a written test that includes all the information you have learned about the road.
But, for now learning about signs and colors is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

you how to drive, but in order for me to do that I my self should be a good and licensed driver.

EXPERIMENTAL TECHNIQUES FOR THE SYNTHESIS AND CHARACTERIZATION OF
NANOMATERIALS.
In order to explore novel physical properties and phenomena and realize potential applications of
nanostructures and nanomaterials, the ability to fabricate and process nanomaterials and
nanostructures is the first corner stone in nanotechnology. There exist a number of methods to
synthesize the nanomaterials, which are categorized in two techniques top down and bottom up .
Solid state route, ball milling comes in the category of top down approach, while wet chemical
routes like sol gel, co precipitation, etc. come in the category of bottom up approach. Secondly,
characterization of nanomaterials is necessary to analyze their various properties. Therefore, this
chapter describes the various methods of synthesis and characterization of nanomaterials.
Characterization techniques include XRD, SEM, TEM, EDAX, UV Visible spectroscopy, FTIR
spectroscopy, etc.
2.2. Synthesis of Nanomaterials:
Fabrication of nanomaterials with strict control over size, shape, and crystalline structure has
become very important for the applications of nanotechnology in numerous fields including
catalysis, medicine, and electronics. Synthesis methods for nanoparticles are typically grouped into
two categories: top down and bottom up approach. The first involves the division of a massive
solid into smaller and smaller portions, successively reaching to nanometer size. This approach may
involve milling or

Comparison Of The Olympia And Yasumasa Morimura s Futago
Nude figures have been featured in art works since around 30 to 25,000 B.C. And throughout the
history of art, we can see a lot of artists being inspired and influenced by great talents before them,
in one way or another they would carry the style or ideas of those previous artists into their own
art and create new masterpieces. One particular example is Г‰douard Manet s Olympia from the
Realism period, and Yasumasa Morimura s Futago. The two paintings share great similarities in
their composition, but the content and purpose of the paintings, and style wise the two pieces are
very different. Г‰douard Manet, a French Realism painter, who set the roots for Modernism,
painted Olympia with oil on canvas. In Manet s Olympia we could see a lot of inspiration and
influence from Titian s Venus of Urbinofrom the Venetian Renaissance period. In the foreground of
Olympia, there is a nude woman wearing nothing but a bracelet, necklace, a pair of earrings and
slippers. The woman is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
And it is for that reason the painting received so much criticism. It was too real. The nude
woman in the painting was not an idealized mystical subject like the woman in Titian s Venus of
Urbino anymore, but it was based on a real woman, Victorine Meurent. The reality of the piece
brought all the harsh criticism onto itself, because it raised a lot of issues regarding prostitution
and women s place and roles in the French society. Another reason the painting shocked the crowd
other than the realness of it is its style, how it was painted. Olympia was painted roughly with clear
brushstrokes, poor details (everything was also very flat), and stark value

Essay on The Bill of Rights
The Bill of Rights is a list of limitations on the power of the government. Firstly, the Bill of Rights
is successful in assuring the adoption of the Constitution. Secondly, the Bill of Rights did not
address every foreseeable situation. Thirdly, the Bill of Rights has assured the safety of the people
of the nation. Successes, failures, and consequences are what made the Bill of Rights what they are
today. Firstly, the Bill of Rights has guaranteed the adoption of the Constitution. James Madison
proposed the Bill of Rights to the First Federal Congress on June 8, 1789 (Primary Documents 1).
The First Federal Congress then proposed the twelve amendments to the constitution to the state
legislatures (Constitutional Politics in Ohio 1). The... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An agreement was finally made to create the Bill of Rights to help secure ratification of the
Constitution itself. Secondly, the Bill of Rights did not address every foreseeable situation. One
failure of the Bill of Rights was the first amendment of the original Bill of Rights. The amendment
concerned the number of constituents for each Representative and was never ratified. It said that
once the House has one hundred members, it should not go below one hundred, and once it
reached two hundred, it should not go below two hundred (Mount 1). Another failure was The Anti
Title Amendment. This amendment said that any citizen who accepted or received any title of
nobility from a foreign power, or who accepted without the consent of Congress any gift from a
foreign power, by would no longer be a citizen (Mount 1). Basically, this said that if someone
received or accepted something from a foreign power, that person would no longer be a citizen. The
Anti Title Amendment was submitted to the States in 1810 and was ratified by only twelve states,
the last being in 1812 (Mount 1). Thirty eight states are required to ratify to add an amendment. The
Slavery Amendment was another failure of the Bill of Rights. This amendment was not ratified
because the House did not want any amendment to be made to the Constitution which would
authorize or give to Congress the power to abolish or interfere, within any state, with the domestic
institutions thereof, including that of

The Flaws In The Movie Kingdom Of Heaven
The movie Kingdom of Heaven is a very good movie. It is biased off of the crusades more
specifically the second crusade. However, no matter how good any movie is there is always
flaws, this one is no different. The amount of flaws I am able to choose from is tremendous. I
have categorized them into three main topics. First I will be talking about the false things that
have to do with Balian himself. Next will be the weapons them self s and how they fire/are used
and outcomes of them. Last I will state many of the other false tings in the movie and back up
why they are false. In the movie there are many incorrect elements about Balian and surrounding
Balian. One of the larger issues I can see is that he is not from France. As Helena P. Schrader
says Balian was born in the crusader Kingdom of Jerusalem. The movie started out with a scene
of Balian burying his dead wife. Several men ride by on horses and one says She was a suicide cut
her head off... but she really never committed suicide. However,... Show more content on

Underrepresented In Women s Sports
For generations, viewers prefer to watch men play sports rather than women. But people
occasionally do watch women s sports if the sport involves women wearing revealing clothing and

Women s sports are underreported and underrepresented in television sports news. In recent studies
from Dr. Wayne Wilson states that men s sports received ninety five percent of the air time, women
only received at least five percent, and gender neutral topics received about one percent of air time.
Televised sports news should provide more coverage of existing women s sports. This statistic

Character Analysis Of Sue Monk Kidd
Sue Monk Kidd does a great job of writing an interesting and engaging novel jam packed with an
amazing setting and lovable characters. Each character providing their own very interesting and
dynamic character arc throughout the story. Characters like Lily Owens, Zachary Taylor and June
Boatwright, experience lots of progression in both as a characteror in their personality and in the
audience s feelings towards them. Characters like Rosaleen and May Boatwright that make you
sympathize for the situation that they are in or the struggles that they face. Each time May
experiences emotional distress, you can t help but feel bad for her and hope that she gets better.
Whenever Rosaleen is discriminated by police officers, you can t help but feel anger and
frustration for the wrongs of the past. With such a stellar cast of characters to choose from I would
say that August Boatwright is the character that Sue Monk Kidd makes me admire. The way Sue
Monk Kidd portrays the wise and caring character that is August is just very compelling to me.
August s importance to the plot of the noveland to the characters of the novel is very clear. August
Boatwright is the moral glue to almost every main character in the Boatwright house before and
after Lily Owens and Rosaleen arrive. Without August Boatwright, there s no one to give May the
attention and care that she needs. No other character except for maybe Lily shows any sort of
patience and compassion for May like August does.

The Importance Of Religious Freedoms In The United States
It is often stated throughout this great country that we have a right to religious freedoms. Are these
freedoms only available if they fit inside a certain box or guidelines? Often times in our country
today we see individuals who are constantly claiming their right to religious freedoms. And often
times they are denied those freedoms by the interpretation of various laws. The First Amendment of
the United States of America Constitution clearly gives us our religious freedom above and beyond
all created laws. This leads to the fact that all laws should abide by the First Amendment. The First

Yes, that s right businesses. What religious freedom does is that it fosters respect by protecting
something that more than eight in ten people worldwide, 84 percent according to a recent Pew
Research study, identify with a religious faith , (Grim, 2014), encourages peace, develops an
economy, which in turn can reduce corruption. In turn religious freedoms also encourages
broader freedoms that can contribute to positive economic development. Many argue that social
development requires the removal of sources of un freedom and restrictions on religions in such
countries like Saudi Arabia and Dubai. Religious freedom also helps with the development of an
economy when religious groups are free to operate in a competitive environment religion can
play a role in major social development of countries. (Grim, 2014) Religious freedoms also
encourage multiples of trust for instance clothing retailer Abercrombie Fitch fought and lost a
religious discrimination case in 2013 related to firing a Muslim stock girl for wearing a scarf in
violation of the company s dress code. The case resulted not only in substantial legal costs but also
negative national publicity. Respect for reasonable accommodation of religious freedom in the
workplace can improve employee morale, increase retention of valued employees, and help with
conflict resolution. Moreover, businesses may gain a competitive advantage by engaging
stakeholder expectations that are increasingly demanding that companies play a positive role in
addressing environmental, social and governance challenges. (Grim,

These mediums are most commonly used because they provide an endless amount of
opportunities for any individual. The basic set up of dating websites is you enter information
about yourself and what you are looking for in a partner and then begin surfing the website for a
soulmate. According to Jonathan Pitts article on: Online Dating Advantages, online dating is not
only becoming a normal part of the dating scheme, its also very convenient. He explains it in
with one particular scenario: After all you couldn t go into a nightclub or a bar, ask all the people
to line up and then split them into several categories judged on personality, body type, hair color,
hobbies and interests and even salary range...but you can online... Another advantage that Pitts
mentioned was the fact that using social media is that it is safer so that you are able to tell what
the person really likes and how they will really react to different things.
Using social media and dating websites for relationships very often leads to the sending of
intimate photographs to other people s phones, called sexting. This process has positive impacts
on relationships because it is said to add an extra spark to an already occurring relationship, as
well as making long distance relationships more bearable, just to name a few. (How is Technology

Kantianism By Immanuel Kant
Kantianism
Immanuel Kant was interested in the meaning of a good life, mostly doing the right thing. He was
a deontologist rather than a consequentialist, meaning that he emphasised intent rather than
outcome. He claimed that the materially best life is not the morally best life and that a morally
best life is favoured to a materially best life. Kant started his own philosophy known as Kantianism.
Even though we consider power, wealth, honour, health, and so on to be good, Kant argues that
these things are not unqualifiedly good as they can be abused. In order to comprehend the meaning
of a good life, it is essential to look for the most basic standard of unqualified good. Kant says that
no matter how hard one might try to guarantee the outcome of their actions, one may never know it;
consequently outcome is not a good contender for unqualified good. He further claims that one
must always be judged on intention rather than outcome or motivation. Therefore his argument is
that only a good will can be unqualifiedly good.
Hume reasons that all practical reasoning is hypothetical, since eventually it is determined by the
desires of the doer. He also says that moral reasoning can only be practical. Kant disagrees with
this and argues that if we think of the conclusions of practical reason as ... Show more content on

with the superseding reasons to act according to what is morally mandatory of us. Kant argues that
morality is sovereign of one s desires, and thus moral imperatives must be categorical imperatives
which apply with complete necessity, and whose truth can be identified through reason alone. Kant
attempts to show how his categorical imperatives can be applied, albeit they are an abstract formula
rather than a set of

Argument On Virtue In Meno
Virtue In Plato s Meno, Socrates presents two different arguments in his attempt to define virtue.
One of his arguments is presented in 71e 73c, where Socrates argues that virtue has unity to it and
that simply giving examples of virtue will not tell us what virtue itself is. His second argument is
given in 87b 89c, where Socrates presents the idea that virtuemust be a kind of knowledge that
makes other goods such as wealth, health or courage worthwhile. I believe that the stronger
argument here is that virtue must be a kind of knowledge, because without knowledge nothing is
beneficial or good in the world. Without knowledge one is more likely to make mistakes and put

Ventricular Fibrillation And Its Effects On The Heart
Ventricular fibrillation (VF) is a life threatening condition in which the signaling in the
ventricles of the hearts is no longer coordinated. The loss of this coordinated signaling causes
rapid, random and chaotic signaling leading to spasms of the ventricular walls. During VF,
blood is not being circulated to the brains and the rest of the body and is therefore deprived of
oxygen. This condition can be reversed by using a defibrillator, which sends an electric
discharge of direct current to the victim (1). Improper signaling of electrical activity in the heart
can also lead to a rapid heart rate. This type of tachycardia is called ventricular tachycardia (VT)
and may lead to VF (Figure 1). Pulseless VT is also with defibrillationand VF and VT are both
considered shockable heart rhythms (2,3).
A large and increasing proportion of patients presents with non shockable rhythms in out of hospital
cardiac arrest (OHCA). These non shockable rhythms are pulseless electrical activity (PEA) and
asystole. During PEA, a normal heart rhythm is observed on the electrocardiogram (ECG), but
without cardiac output. Asystole is a condition without ventricular complexes. The heart muscles
fail to contract due to the lack of cardiac electrical activity. Both PEA and asystole are treated with
cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) without defibrillation, combined with epinephrine
administered intravenously (4). Non shockable rhythms are associated with high mortality. The
survival rates of PEA

Crocodiles And Alligators Similarities
Crocodiles and Alligators are often confused with because of the physical similarities. When an
average person encounters a crocodile or alligator, it is most probable that they guess which
animal it is and get it wrong. However, the only thing in common is the body structure. Not all of
the similarities have to do with the similar physical shape of the crocodilesand alligators. In fact, the
similarities go beyond. On the other hand, the differences deal with the most detailed dissimilarities
between the crocodiles and alligators body.
One of many similarities crocodiles and alligators have is that these animals are reptiles.
Crocodiles and alligators belong to the same subfamily so it is likely for them to have the same
physical shape. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, there is a big difference when it comes to a crocodiles and alligators snout. Alligators
have a U shaped snout with a wider head and sharp teeth that hide when the mouth is closed. In
contrast to alligators, a crocodile have a V shaped snout with a thinner head and have a toothy
grin when the mouth is closed. Additionally the alligators upper jaw is more located more
forwards than the crocodiles, this also affects the how the teeth are structured. Although both of
these animals teeth are strong, the crocodiles have a more defined strength because it can
destroy a turtles shell faster than an alligator. Furthermore, crocodiles have lingual glands that
make salt water tolerable. Another major difference is the capacity of length between the two
reptiles. Crocodiles tend to grow 5. 8 meters compared to an 4.3 alligator. Moreover, female
crocodiles lay their eggs in mud or sand whereas the female alligators lay eggs on mounds near
water. Another difference between alligators and crocodiles are the amount of time it takes to take
care of the newborns. Alligators usually stay a few months or 1 year until the babies are strong
enough to fend for themselves unlike crocodiles that stay with the babies 2

Compare And Contrast Virginia And Massachusetts Bay Colonies
English colonization of the New World began in the late 16th century with several unsuccessful
attempts. However, this changed with the settlement of Jamestown, and later with the settlement of
Massachusetts Bay. Despite these settlements having similarities, they were fundamentally different
in most respects. From the areas where they settled, the reasoning behind each settlement, their
development, and the various problems and conflicts that arose in each. A uniqueness can be seen
between Virginiaand MassachusettsBay settlements beginning with the history of each.
The history of these two settlements begins in the early 17th century when King James I issued a
charter between two rival groups of merchants, the London Company (later renamed the Virginia
Company) whose interests were in colonizing Virginia, and the Plymouth Company who had
interests further north (Brinkley, 23). The charter gave the London Company exclusive rights to
colonize the south, and the Plymouth Company received the same rights for the north (Brinkley, 23
24). It is through the efforts of these companies that the first permanent English colonies would be
established (Brinkley, 24).
Once the charter had been issued the London Company quickly began to set up an expedition for
the colonization of Virginia, and on December 6, 1606, 144 men aboard three ships: the Godspeed,
the Discovery, and the Susan Constant set sail for the New World (Brinkley, 26). In the spring of
1607, the 105 settlers that

Popular Mechanics Raymond Carver Analysis
What is the title of the text and what is the text about? The title is Popular Mechanics by
Raymond Carver. This dark short story is about a man leaving his female partner, and
subsequently, they get into an argument over the custody of their single child (Carver, 1981)..
What is the author s view? How do I know? The author seems as if he is distancing himself from
the story. The main reason I believe this is his lack of detail and overuse of simple sentences. It s
like he is telling a painful story he doesn t want to tell. This analysis is further supported by
Carver s own history of physical abuse from his father (Hall, 2009, para. 6). Therefore, the author
s point of view aligns with morbid realism. What is the evidence presented by the author to support
ideas? It is clear early on that the couple s relationship has failed when... Show more content on

How do I know? The evidence is relevant to the story, especially since there is hardly much
detail in the story anyway. The beginning paragraph about the weather sets expectations of the
story, and the forgotten well being of the baby is relevant to the nature of their demise. The story
is extremely selective of the detail that is given, and all the detail adds to the tone of the story.
Have I heard/read anything similar or dissimilar? What was it? I am reminded only of The
Monkey s Paw, by W.W. Jacobs (1911) because the characters blind desires in that story reminds
me of the power struggle in Carver s story. Also, the outcome in both stories is not what the
characters had intended, and in both stories, neither characters were happy with the outcome. Do
I agree or disagree with the views expressed by the author? Why? In some ways, I agree with the
views expressed by Carver. I agree dysfunction and power struggles can ruin families, emotionally
and physically. It s a lesson some people learn only after committing the sin, so it is important to
stay grounded and keep everyone s best interest at

Similarities and Differences between the American...
Introduction American society is characterized by its upward mobility. Anyone, particularly those
with a talent in high demand, can achieve prosperity through hard ward and determination. Both
American Idol and X Factor showcase this phenomenon within the confines of their shows.
Consumers, particularly those geared towards drama, love to see this upward mobility concept in
action. Both shows do a great job articulating this concept in a manner that is engaging and though
provoking. However, American Idol and X Factor have distinct differences that make them unique
in their application of this concept. Through this document I aim to juxtapose the different shows
in regards to their similarities and differences. Similarity: Aspirational Component American Idol
and X Factor both have a more aspiration component to their shows. The show garners much of
its appeal from the hopes and dreams of others. Many Americans, in a society predicated on
material wealth, desire what many of the contestant on the show have obtained. This includes an
opportunity to showcase ones talents while being recognized for superior performance. Many
Americans desire recognition while admonishing rejection. America Idol is a show that relies on
is Rags to riches appeal. It is show that draws vast audiences due primarily to its ability to attract
local talent that has yet to be recognized. It allows individuals to live their dreams, even if doing
so is highly unlikely. This concept is much like

All Quiet And The Western Front By Erich Maria Remarque
We are forlorn like children, and experienced like old men, we are crude and sorrowful and
superficial, I believe we are lost (Remarque 123). World War I is a tragic event that occurred in
1914 to 1918. Paul Baumer and the rest of the soldiers in the novel of All Quiet in the Western
Front by Erich Maria Remarque are lost; they are broken from the fist World War, they don t
know anything aside from War, and they have lost their innocence during the years of
maturation. When the young men heard about the War, they were excited, and full of life, they
thought they were going on an adventure. The adventure began on July 28th, 1914 and Paul
Baumer is five miles behind a French front. As the First World War begins, the soldiers believe it
is honorable to join but as they spend more time in war and gain experience they realize war is a
lot different from what they had in mind. The soldiers become more hopeless as the days and
years pass. The life in the trenches was risky, and every day could be the soldiers last. I am so
alone and so without hope that I can confront them without fear (Remarque 295). This quotation
shows how Paul Baumer has lost all his hope, and desire. The soldiers no longer fight for their
country, they do not desire to make it out alive, the First World War has made them so miserable,
and so hopeless they have lost feelings for everything. Everyone except for Paul Baumer has died

The importance of astronomy and calendar (18 months a year; 20 days a month) calculations to the

fingers and toes. The numerals consisted of only three symbols: zero was represented as a shell

One solution, for the primary problem of Mike missing meetings and being left out of the group,
would be to explain the situation to Professor Sandra. Christine could have approached Sandra to
explain that Mike had been very distant and not cooperating with meetings. There are limited
things that Sandra could have done; however at least she would have been informed and
understood. The pros to approaching the professor could have been to possibly get Mike on the
right track and take the responsibility off the team. The professor could have made
arrangements or provided guidance for Mike if he explained his problems about class, work,
and his girlfriend early on. They may have been granted an extension or could have had a group
meeting during class. The cons of this solution would be that Mike would think Christine was a
tattle tale and he could get angry at the group and become more distant. Professor Sandra could
have also told the group to find a way to work it out and/or pick up his slack. A group project
means that each member performs their part, so approaching the professor would have informed
Sandra of the lack of effort on Mike s behalf and that everyone else is participating and doing their
part. On the other hand, another solution would be to actually evaluate and use Mike s notes and

customer has watched or rated and based upon that information builds a list of suggested titles

Great Was Ever Achieved Without Synonym, By Ralph Waldo...
Everyone has a different way to go along with their ways to get their job or work done. Whether

Jack Frost Short Story
Once upon many a time in an Ice rink, in the North Pole, there was a small boy named Jack
Frost, but goes by Frosty, he was 139 years old which was 16 years in human time, standing at two
feet tall. It was his first time ice skating in his life, Frosty s parents were Canadian guards for Santa.
The father, Anders, was an snowman and the mother, Antonia, was a elf, they both were guards for
Santa for many decades, protecting the reindeer that pull Santa s slay through the air. Frosty was
going to turn 140 on December 24th and he was going to follow in his parent s steps guarding the
reindeer, but then three days after he had turned 54 he got a call from his friend Aksel You are
needed in the ice rink, you are not in any kind of trouble, you are just to come and talk. Frosty then
replied Why, what is happening? Aksel replied with Just come and you will find out what is
happening you need to be here. Later that day, it was 3:00, Frosty was pacing around his room
wondering what this was all about. Twenty minutes passed and he was only five minutes till he
arrived at his destination. It was a time, a group of people approached Frosty. Frosty saw a group
of people with uniforms unsure of what kind or where they had come from, but then Frosty saw
a familiar face, it was Frosty s father Anders! Frosty was then questioned on what he wanted to
do in the Canadian military, he answered I would like to follow in my father s footsteps he
shouted echoing through the rink. Frosty s father was astonished with what Frosty had uttered I
will do whatever it takes to join and I will not give up. Frosty had been waiting for this moment
to be asked to join, Frosty excitedly replied with a strong YES! Six years had passed since he
joined from that day in the rink. Frosty was a in the military, but what he did was almost entirely
different from what he had originally wanted. His father had passed away two years ago during
his training, He was quickly notified about his father s death and was shocked and depressed, but
one day something had made it worse. The Fire Nation had destroyed the town that Frosty had
grown up in, he furiously yelled THIS MEANS WAR! he stormed out of his house to Santa about

The Ethics Of Non Voluntary Active Euthanasia
The idea of non voluntary active euthanasia is not such a disaster, as euthanasia itself. The problem
that comes into consideration is when and why it should be used. When euthanasia is non voluntary
and active, such as on a patient with dementia, the ethical decision comes into play if there are
episodes of clarity and the patient has or has not mentioned what they want to do at the end of life
situations. Principles of deontology suggest dutyand obligation. A medical professional in such
situations have an obligation to fulfill the patient s wishes. The nature of their obligation does not
sway based on what they personally think. Patients with dementia have some moments of clarity,
but because their brains are still deteriorating, non ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Kant s explanation should determine where non voluntary active euthanasia falls on that
spectrum. Morally permissible looks at what is allowed by people from a moral perspective.
This differs in a different place. In the UK, euthanasia, in general, is moral. It can be broken
down using Kant s theory by saying, why has the doctor performed non voluntary active
euthanasia, or why will the doctor perform non voluntary active euthanasia? . By applying Kant s
theory, a doctor performing this duty is doing so morally. A patient ridden with dementia, cannot
make medical decisions. The doctor has performed this procedure because of medical obligation.
The doctor will perform the procedure because of the condition of the patient. It is permissible
morally because the patient himself cannot deny the obligation the doctor should perform the
procedure based on the patient s condition. For the sake of the doctor s duty, he or she is obeying
moral law based on the virtue of his or her morality. In order to fully understand why the doctor
must perform the non voluntary active euthanasia on a patient with dementia who has moments of
clarity, there is another understanding that must be accomplished. If the doctor did not perform this
same procedure on this same patient what would happen?

  • 2. Monotheism Vs Abrahamic Religion Monotheism is the act of believing in one God. The three religions that practice monotheism are Judaism, Christianity and Islam. Each of these religions have a direct link to Abraham; thus being called the Abrahamic Religions. Judaism is linked to Abraham as he is proclaimed as the Patriarch of the Jewish people and the Father of the Covenant. Likewise, Muslims view Abraham as the Father of the Arab people as well as the Jewish people through his two sons, Isaac and Ishmael. Christians view Abraham as the prototype of all believers, the Father of the Covenant and the Father of Isaac and Ishmael. Sacred traditions are treated with both celebration and seriousness in the monotheistic religions. Just as God instructed Abraham 4000 years ago, a sacred Jewish ritual would be the circumcision of all baby boys when they reach eight days of age. Another ritual is when families gather to welcome the Holy day of the Sabbath. For a Jewish person, their religion is very much dedicating their lives to God, where their whole life becomes an act of worship. According to the writing by a Portuguese explorer, Japan was able to produce a large number of guns just within two or three years and there were over 300,000 guns by 1556 (Brown 238). The construction of the Osaka Castle stimulated greater industrial and commercial business. This castle was built to express Hideyoshi s power but another contributing factor was the usage of artillery in siege warfare (Brown 249). In 1586, the Osaka Castle was completed. The walls of the castle consist of large granite stones that were about 10 feet wide and 40 feet long and the total thickness of the wall is 18 to 21 feet. The eight storied castle had iron covered gates and roofs and the base of the castle was mainly made out of stone (Brown 248). You encourage the individual by finding out what their personal history is, likes and dislikes. This will play an important part in active participation. By taking the person centred approach to care means you are looking for ways to meet the individual s needs and wishes. • 7. Men And The Paradox Of Sexual Freedom By Leslie Bell Essay Men and women face many social obstacles when faced within a community that has demanding masculine and feminine roles. Men are projected to be extremely masculine and not allow fear, anxiety, or vulnerability to show through. Women, on the other hand, are encouraged to be strong, pursue their careers, and experiment with their sexuality. Although women are gaining power, they are still left with a feeling of confusion about themselves. Leslie Bell author of, Hard to Get: Twenty Something Women and the Paradox of Sexual Freedom , reveals the idea of women experimenting sexually, but at the same time experiencing a sense of confusion and pressure to settle down and marry in their twenties. Romanticism In The Tree Of Life By Terrence Malick When I first heard of the word Romanticism , I automatically assumed it was more of an intricate way to say romance but romanticism is much more than pursuing someone. Romanticism is a movement of art and literature that formulated around the late 18th century that is characterized by strong emotions, individualism and the glorification of all past and nature. The Tree of Life directed by Terrence Malick is a perfect example of romanticism and conforms well with Hugo s manifesto on Romanticism. It is about the story of a family in Waco, Texas in 1950 s that loses one of their sons. Growing up, the eldest son and struggles with his parents conflicting teachings. Later in life he looks back on his childhood and through his memories, tries to find the meaning of life. Terrence s film complies with Hugo s preface on romanticism by featuring moments from the past, incorporation of nature and containing organized religion. In The Tree of Life the journey begins when we learn that a son has died and it takes us on this course of the oldest brother s Jack, reminiscence growing up in this family. As we see him mature in age, his innocence is lost because of his father s questioning family ideals and rules. While Western expansion contributed to growing sectional tensions between the North and South from 1800 1820, sectionalism intensified significantly from 1820 1850. Any state admitted into the Union bellow this line would decide the legality of slavery for their new state, by popular sovereignty. This temporarily maintained the balance of slave states and free states in the Union, while increasing sectionalism throughout America. Neither the North or South wanted the other section to have more states favoring their own slavery ideals, in fear of biased representation in the Senate. Furthermore, sectionalism was demonstrated by the fact that congress felt the need to implement The Gag rule ; This disallowed congress from discussing the issue of slavery for the next thirty years (while only lasting a decade). Though members of the house tried to pass the Wilmot proviso, which would ban slavery in newly acquired Mexican territories, Southerners naturally opposed this. Disagreements over how to decide the newly acquired land s position on slavery, further intensified sectionalism between the North and South. At one point the South even tried to pass the Ostend Manifesto in an attempt to purchase Cuba from Spain, and admit it into the Union as a slave state. Although this effort failed, it strongly represents the intense sectionalism during the time: As an entire portion of the country acted autonomously to secure an additional state to gain power over their Northern neighbors. • 26. Kantianism By Immanuel Kant Kantianism Immanuel Kant was interested in the meaning of a good life, mostly doing the right thing. He was a deontologist rather than a consequentialist, meaning that he emphasised intent rather than outcome. He claimed that the materially best life is not the morally best life and that a morally best life is favoured to a materially best life. Kant started his own philosophy known as Kantianism. Even though we consider power, wealth, honour, health, and so on to be good, Kant argues that these things are not unqualifiedly good as they can be abused. In order to comprehend the meaning of a good life, it is essential to look for the most basic standard of unqualified good. Kant says that no matter how hard one might try to guarantee the outcome of their actions, one may never know it; consequently outcome is not a good contender for unqualified good. He further claims that one must always be judged on intention rather than outcome or motivation. Therefore his argument is that only a good will can be unqualifiedly good. • 27. Argument On Virtue In Meno Virtue In Plato s Meno, Socrates presents two different arguments in his attempt to define virtue. One of his arguments is presented in 71e 73c, where Socrates argues that virtue has unity to it and that simply giving examples of virtue will not tell us what virtue itself is. His second argument is given in 87b 89c, where Socrates presents the idea that virtuemust be a kind of knowledge that makes other goods such as wealth, health or courage worthwhile. • 28. Ventricular Fibrillation And Its Effects On The Heart Ventricular fibrillation (VF) is a life threatening condition in which the signaling in the ventricles of the hearts is no longer coordinated. The loss of this coordinated signaling causes rapid, random and chaotic signaling leading to spasms of the ventricular walls. During VF, blood is not being circulated to the brains and the rest of the body and is therefore deprived of oxygen. This condition can be reversed by using a defibrillator, which sends an electric discharge of direct current to the victim (1). Improper signaling of electrical activity in the heart can also lead to a rapid heart rate. This type of tachycardia is called ventricular tachycardia (VT) and may lead to VF (Figure 1). Pulseless VT is also with defibrillationand VF and VT are both considered shockable heart rhythms (2,3). A large and increasing proportion of patients presents with non shockable rhythms in out of hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA). These non shockable rhythms are pulseless electrical activity (PEA) and asystole. During PEA, a normal heart rhythm is observed on the electrocardiogram (ECG), but without cardiac output. Asystole is a condition without ventricular complexes. The heart muscles fail to contract due to the lack of cardiac electrical activity. Both PEA and asystole are treated with cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) without defibrillation, combined with epinephrine administered intravenously (4). Non shockable rhythms are associated with high mortality. The survival rates of PEA ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Not all of the similarities have to do with the similar physical shape of the crocodilesand alligators. In fact, the similarities go beyond. On the other hand, the differences deal with the most detailed dissimilarities between the crocodiles and alligators body. The charter gave the London Company exclusive rights to colonize the south, and the Plymouth Company received the same rights for the north (Brinkley, 23 24). It is through the efforts of these companies that the first permanent English colonies would be established (Brinkley, 24). Once the charter had been issued the London Company quickly began to set up an expedition for the colonization of Virginia, and on December 6, 1606, 144 men aboard three ships: the Godspeed, the Discovery, and the Susan Constant set sail for the New World (Brinkley, 26). This dark short story is about a man leaving his female partner, and subsequently, they get into an argument over the custody of their single child (Carver, 1981).. What is the author s view? How do I know? The author seems as if he is distancing himself from the story. The main reason I believe this is his lack of detail and overuse of simple sentences. It s like he is telling a painful story he doesn t want to tell. This analysis is further supported by Carver s own history of physical abuse from his father (Hall, 2009, para. 6). Therefore, the author s point of view aligns with morbid realism. What is the evidence presented by the author to support ideas? It is clear early on that the couple s relationship has failed when... I am reminded only of The Monkey s Paw, by W.W. Jacobs (1911) because the characters blind desires in that story reminds me of the power struggle in Carver s story. Also, the outcome in both stories is not what the characters had intended, and in both stories, neither characters were happy with the outcome. When the young men heard about the War, they were excited, and full of life, they thought they were going on an adventure. As the First World War begins, the soldiers believe it is honorable to join but as they spend more time in war and gain experience they realize war is a lot different from what they had in mind. The soldiers become more hopeless as the days and years pass. The life in the trenches was risky, and every day could be the soldiers last.
