and interviews. In order to let our data speak to us and help us to understand how the collaborative
work is conducted between ITB and Royal Danish Library we have adopted grounded theory method

Significance of the Treaty of Versailles
World War I was a devastating war that had a long lasting effect on every European country. After the
assassination of Franz Ferdinand, the heir to the Austrian throne, and his wife by the hands of a
Serbian terrorist group known as the Black Hand. Germany urged Austria Hungary to attack Serbia,
but Russia stepped up to protect the country. Germany ambushed Belgium, and proceeded to Russia,
throwing Great Britain into the war due to their alliance with Belgium. As a result, the continent of
Europe, including Great Britain, Italy, Russia, Austria Hungary, and France, was plunged into a great
World War. The war lasted from 1914 to 1918, and it left Germany singled out as the catalyst. In
November 1918, Germany finally agreed to an Armistice, a halt in the fighting, but they did not
consider themselves to be surrendering. At the time, the Germans believed that they would play a role
in constructing the treaty that would end the war, but when the time came, they were not allowed to
participate. Germany was greatly angered by this, but there was nothing that they could do for their
army had been disarmed. They had two choices: sign the Treaty or be invaded by the Allies. With no
other option, the Treaty of Versailles was signed on June 28, 1919 in the Hall of Mirrors at the Palace

The social problem I decided to discuss is the subject of family violence and abuse, which includes
spouses and children. Now, as Ember and Ember explain in the text, in order to deal with violence
within families, we must first decide on what should be classified as abuse and what is not (Ember
Ember, pg. 230). The word abuse can have various definitions across cultures, as not everyone thinks
of it in the same way. To some, hitting a child is a perfectly acceptable form of punishment and of wife
beating can be seen in a male dominating household as a necessary act to keep a spouse in check. I
personally believe that abuse can be defined as the repeatedly cruel or violent treatment of someone,
mainly intended to do harm against that person. I believe that in order to combat this problem, there is
a few main actions that can be done that can at least reduce the amount of family violence we see
throughout cultures. For one, people need to acknowledge that family violence, both domestic
violence and child abuse is real and exists throughout countless societies and communities. The
second is to realize that family violence is not a necessary behavior and can actually have long lasting
and damaging effects on the people we love the most. The third action is to educate people in

Fire is a powerful element that is known to be destructive, but in some situations it could mean more

people would assume. In William Golding s Lord of the Flies, the symbol of a fire is shown many
times, and its meaning progressively changes as the story goes on. The boys work to keep a fire going
in book to attempt to be noticed and rescued. The fire always had a different level of importance to
each boy, but there was always an overall underlying meaning behind it that affected them all. They
believed that it was just a fire to create smoke, but there was always something more to it that the boys
may or may not have been oblivious to. The symbol of the fire in The Lord of the Flies written by
William Golding begins as a representation of hope, develops into a divider, and concludes as a figure
of rescue. The fire that was created to be a smoke signal to anything that passes the island starts to
become a vision of hope for the boys. The fire is first brought into the story very early when Ralph
decides it is necessary if they want to be rescued. In the first meeting between all the boys they do not
