2. Strategic Analysis of Apple Computers
BUSINESS APPLE COMPUTERS STRATEGIC ANALYSIS 2005
Strengths and Opportunities In 2005, Apple Computers experienced significant sales
increases attributable to the earlier rollout of the iPod (Robbins Judge, 2009). The
positive publicity and brand perception associated with that project also spilled over
to its entire line of Macintosh computers, further bolstering sales revenue and
corporate profits that year. The sales volume of virtually all Apple products increased
after the introduction of the iPod, hitting $320 million in June of 2005 (Robbins
Judge, 2009). In general, every successful Apple product has benefited brand
recognition and perception and invigorated the sales of other product lines, even
those not directly related to it. By the end of 2005, Apple had sold approximately 22
million iPod units and more than half a billion individual song downloads through its
music store, iTunes (George Jones, 2008).
Weaknesses
Generally, there is also a potential downside to the cross promotional effect of
products: namely, to the extent consumers draw conclusions about all company
products from its failures. In 2005, Apple suffered from this principle twice, after
many iPods were released with batteries that performed poorly and iPod Nanos were
released with screens that malfunctioned ((Akin, Dunford, Palmer, 2006). In addition
to replacing the defective units, the company also provided various free accessories,
such as battery cases. Apple was also pressed by

2. How did Ducati become the second most profitable motorcycle maker in the world
despite its small scale?
Platform Approach: Ducati divided the bike into a small number of component and
sub component assemblies. A supplier was responsible for managing and delivering
the component. The platform approach minimizes detailed, multi step assembly
processes. Consequently, fewer Ducati man hours are needed to assemble a
motorcycle. The assembly expertise of each component is concentrated at the
supplier so that Ducati assemblers can apply higher value labor on the overall bike
assembly.
High Degree of Component Outsourcing: As of 2001, Ducati outsourced 87% of its
components to suppliers. The company planned to increase that rate to 90%. As ...

This too protects Ducati from Japanese substitutions.
Ducati has developed and managed their value chain very well. This contributes
substantially to their strong position. I ve already discussed Ducati s effective
management of Inbound Logistics and Operations. Ducati s Outbound Logistics
approach is oriented around brand management in each of its markets. This is
accomplished through dedicated, single franchise dealerships instead of multi
franchise dealerships. This decision means that Ducati seeks a high value customer
experience with lower volumes in lieu of a mass market approach. This is a strategy
that is consistent with being a niche player; it makes sense for the Japanese firms to
have multi franchise dealerships since they are close substitutes of each other.
Marketing and Sales represents Ducati s most significant growth opportunities
because their brand management strategy advances the Ducati name into the
consciousness of their markets. In addition to motorcycles, Ducati extends the
brand by selling accessories and apparel. For sure, Ducati owners will buy these
products but perhaps more importantly, the aspirational aspect of the brand drives
people to buy Ducati branded items even if they don t own the bike. This behavior
is seen with the Harley Davidson brand: many people wear H D clothing and

The Navy was ranked second regarding Navy servicewomen and the second ranked
for the servicemen was the Marines. In 2014, The Marine Corps reported the highest
percentage of assaults against women, with 7.9 percent reporting having endured an
assault, while the Navy had the highest for men, 1.5 percent. The percent of troops
reporting a sexual assaultin the other services among women were 4.7 percent of
Army soldiers, 6.5 percent of Navy sailors, 2.9 percent of Air Force airmen and 3.0

5. My Critical Evaluation Of Various Components
The reflective essay will pertain to chapter 8 and my critical evaluation of various
components in this chapter. Attention is different for everyone, so ideally we all
have things we play closer attention too. When I m out and I see people who wear
pink or have sparkles I tend to pay more attention that area. I also get distracted
very easily so if I am out and about and there is commotion going on I ll stop to see
what all the fuss is about. My own selective attentiondeals with movements, sparkly
and pink objects. If any of those apply my retina will process that for me. What
types of things do you pay close attention too? Selective attention makes me think
of being at a party or some type of gathering where you don t really know anyone. I
usually make saccades of the environment. If I see someone I know or looks
familiar I will remain fixated for a couple seconds than look away. At that moment I
try and process how I recognize them. When I first saw the term dichotic listening this
is what came to mind. Whisper down the alley is what popped up in my brain. I
learned this game in elementary school where one person whispers a message into
your and you pass it on to the next person. Sometimes there were two messages that
were started in both directions, than passed to each individual participating. Whiter
it is one message or two the whole point was to see if the message in the end
matched the original message. In most cases it did not, do too how we hear the
message is
6. Changing The Role Of Women In The Late 1800s
In the United States of America, there is always a power struggle. Women of the
late 1800s showed men that they were here to change things up. The struggle even
came from within, between the white and black women to see who would get
power first. So, the struggle in late 1800s America was between the role of a man
and a woman and was ultimately changing the role of a female in America, creating
hundreds and hundreds of unions and associations, and finally creating many laws

Do patients who undergo renal transplantation suffer from long term dental/health
complications as opposed to individuals who have not undergone transplantation?
My search strategy for the scientific literature started with PubMed. I input the
following phrase into the search bar: Dental complications from kidney transplants .
100 articles were gathered as potential scientific literatures that could be used for my
specific learning issue. In finding articles that provided general dental and health
complications, the task offered a manageable list of scientific articles to sift through.
For the next time, I would like to focus on specific dental/health complications from
kidney transplants and how it could affect patients in such ways instead of in a
general systemic manner.
The first selected article, The status of dental and jaw bones in children and
adolescents after kidney and liver transplantation , focuses on the main systemic
complications patients may encounter after renal transplantation within the oral
cavity. The research question the Department of Pediatric Dentistry at the Medical
University of Warsaw in Warsaw, Poland, posed was to evaluate the incidence of
various dental abnormalities within children who underwent kidney transplantation
with the added factor of taken immunosuppressant drugs. A benefit of the article in its
choice of including the potential cause of these abnormalities as a consequence of
taking various immunosuppressant drugs adds an extra

Hopelessness of the Irish in Nineteenth Century England
Throughout my research into the subject of the Irish in England s industrial north
during the early nineteenth century, one fact became quite clear; contemporary
writers treatment of the Irish was both minimal and negative. I consulted many
sources, Friedrich Engels, Leon Faucher, James Kay Shuttleworth to name but a few
and the reoccurring theme as pertaining to the Irish in all these works was mainly
consistent; the Irish were a lazy, vulgar people prone to drinking and brawling.
It was not until 1841 that Great Britain s government made its first attempt to count
the number of Irish migrants in the Census of 1841. Data compiled from the actual

These changes diminished the amount of industrial labour available for harvesting
purposes in England, and increased the field of employment for the Irish harvesters. 1.
He continues, stating that the Irish were represented throughout most of the
agricultural districts of England but for purposes of this report, his comments on
those in Lancashire county are important to note;
The harvesters landing at Liverpool seem to have spread across the country from
Lancashire to Lincolnshire,...Their employment in Lancashire calls for no
explanation: in the middle of the century they were regarded as indispensable there
through the scarcity of English agricultural labour. 2.
Although welcome by the English farmers as a surplus pool of cheap, temporary
labour, the English harvesters still in existence were not quite as pleased. Most Irish
were willing to work for much lower wages than their English counterparts and thus
were blamed for driving down the wages of all. In defense of the Irish, even the
lowest wages offered in England represented a higher standard of living to them than
that they experienced back home. Thus, most Irish were willing to work for what the
English considered starvation wages. Although this led to some riots between the
Irish and English harvesters, it had the added effect of motivating many English to
11. The Rebellion Of The Jamaica
On October 11, 1865, Paul Bogle and a group of free blacks marched into Morant
Bay protesting a local trail, which resulted in a full scale uprising that caused deaths
and destruction. Free blacks had economic troubles and little to power in colonial
society because of their limited access to resources. By July 8, 1865, the Jamaica
Guardian captured the people s discontent with Governor Edward John Eyre, who
served as British official on the island. In this message of discontent, the people
call for his removal because of his weak, vacillating, and undignified character and
conduct. The people became quite discontent with the British official because of
his actions regarding the Morant Bay Rebellion. He responded to the rebellion with
force and violence by declaring martial law in Surrey County and accused George
William Gordon, a free black businessman, of being part of the rebellion that led to
death. This whirlwind of events caused many to question Eyre s leadership and led to
the establishment of the Jamaica Committee, a group of men from England. This
group wanted to imprison the governor for his actions, but their actions led to his
removal from office.
This event created much havoc and chaos in England and Jamaica because it
disturbed the British masses, which questioned the effectiveness of colonial rule after
the Sepoy Munity of 1857. The cases received a large amount of political and public
attention because two schools of thought existed in the debate. One

I volunteer to tell a tale while we rest. I will tell a tale; a tale of adventure, bravery

Ivy stretched along the walls, and Clare stood in amazement.
This is beautiful, Clare said in awe.
Clare then thought of the animals back in the Willowlands. What they thought of her;
what they thought of the fox kind.
Clare stood on a large boulder and announced,
Foxes, I am Clare, daughter of the Leader Maddox Vulpes. I have come here to
announce that we should move back to the Willowlands. Other creatures think of us
as tricksters, sly dishonest creatures. We have to prove them wrong!
It was silent. Until the wolf, Alpha, clapped, and suddenly all the other foxes
clapped as well, excited to take back their rightful place. The foxes were prepped for
battle. They wore armor to protect them, and had brave hearts ready for battle. They
started their march into the WIllowlands, and when they finally reached their
destination; they stood brave in the face of danger.
Creatures gathered around them, and Clare proved to them the truth of the Emperor
Turtle. Emperor Turtle was sent to be judged by the Order, and the animals took
foxes in as beloved allies. The moral of this tale is to stand up for what you believe
in, and to make change yourself. Change only starts when you start
13. The Immortal Life Of Henrietta Lacks By Rebecca Skloot
In The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks, Rebecca Skloot claims that virologist
Chester Southam withheld disturbing medical information from the patients in the
cancer research for his own benefit. Skloot wrote about how Southam injected
patients with cancer cells without their knowledge so they wouldn t refuse to
participate in the experiment. He believed that using the word cancer in any way
would only scare them for no reason. Back then, what Southam was doing wasn t
illegal since there wasn t any laws prohibiting it. The claim Skloot made was
supported by the evidence because she gave information relating to Southam s
disregard for the patient s knowledge or consent in the experiment for his own gain.
Throughout the chapter Skloot gives examples on how Southam did research on
patients without their knowledge. On page 128 she wrote, He told them he was
testing their immune systems; he said nothing about injecting them with someone
else s malignant cells. Southam never told the patients that they were participating in
a cancer experiment at all. Skloot points out that if the patients knew this they might
not be willing to participate. This directly relates and supports her claim since it
shows that withholding this information would allow him to have plenty of subjects

To What Extent is CSR Beneficial to a Company s Performance?
Corporate social responsibility (CSR), which is a popular debate topic over decades,
has divided into five major dimensions over time. They are known as the stakeholder
dimension, the social dimension, the economic dimension, the voluntariness
dimension and the environmental dimension in research (Dahlsrud, 2008). The
relationship between CSR and company s performance, which is classified as the
stakeholder dimension, aroused a controversial discussion among different research
studies. Some research reported positive relationship in CSR and company s
performance (Mirvis, 2012), some research found negative results (Karnani, 2010),

In this way, those impact brought by those omitted aspects would be included in the
CSR s relationship with company s performance by mistake.
Despite the influence of omitted factors, CSR neither benefit nor harm company s
performance. For those cases reported positive relationship above, they are very
likely to be the result of a good marketing strategy and aggressive advertisement (for
restaurant and airlines), successful management (for employees willingness to work
in a responsible company), an efficient R amp;D and politic strategies (for DuPont
s case), etc. However, research reaching a negative relationship can also be blamed
to other stuffs related to CSR, rather than CSR itself. For example, the agency
problem appears when there s a conflict between company s goal and the agent s
personal goal, not only in CSR; and the profit issue is just a matter of choice. Thus,
while measuring CSR s influence on company s performance, we should first identify
or select the dimensions of corporate social responsibility (Ruf, 1998, as cited in
Foote, Gaffney, amp;Evans, 2010). Nothing can we truly measure before a clear
identification. After a clear identification, we will be able to figure out whether it is
the impact brought by CSR, and therefore eliminate the interference from R amp;D,
advertising, or political efforts, etc.

15. Environmental Factors And Causes Of Climate Change In
Kenya
Climate change in today s world has become of great concern due to its effects on the
environment. Globally, climate change has significantly influenced ecosystems and
the existence of organisms. This is further extending its effects to regional areas such
as Kenya, whose ecosystem is not spared by the changing climate. Despite having
natural causes, Anthropogenic factors are widely increasing and causing climate
changeundisputed. Therefore, human activities are the primary contributors to
climate change leading to stress and ecosystemstrain, to continue providing for its
services. In this report, I discuss the summary of global climate change and regional
focus on causes of climate change in Kenya, its effects in ecosystem especially on the
natural ecosystems, current measures to curb the effects and the perception of the
future ecosystem of the country.
Introduction
Climate change is defined as a change of climate that is attributed directly or
indirectly to human activity that alters the composition of the global atmosphere, and
that is in addition to natural climate variability observed over comparable time
periods (UNFCC, 1992). (source(GoK, 2012). Which is understood as the average
change in weather patterns over an extended period, caused by both human activities
and natural factors. These factors include deforestation from increasing human
population and activities, industrialization, urbanization, volcanic eruptions, etc.

16. Brainwashing In 1984 Research Paper
The society we live in relies heavily on the presence of the media and the influence
of other people. In many situations it would be fairly simple for the government to
brainwash a society into thinking something had or had not happened. This
brainwashing is depicted in the book 1984, where a society has been captured by a
government that decides every move and thought in their daily lives. Both the
world of Oceania and the world we live in now are heavily controlled by the media.
Media plays a major part in the way everyone thinks, talks, and remembers
instances from the past. In some situations the past is able to be changed if there
was someone that took the time to sit down and change every article that ever
came out about the incident. If for instance the government wanted to change a
piece of history form over 100 years ago it would be simple for them. They would
just have to change it in books and videos to say what they want it to say and then
eventually overtime the memory of what had actually happened would die out with
the older generations and they would have successfully removed a part of history.
This form of brainwashing can be used in many ways, to forget something that did
happen or to place a memory in someone s head of something that didn t... Show

They are forced to confess to things they did not do and to say things they know to
be completely untrue. The people have been brainwashed to believe scientific
evidence is false and the only thing that is fact is whatever the government tells

to torture these people would work well in our society. People are very weak in today
s society I believe they would easily break under these

a)Provide a detailed explanation of the business process as provided by the case.
Contrast the processes in place with those that should have been followed. Explain in
detail any deficiencies.
In this particular case, multiple business processes used by Plush Pet Daycare lead to
the crime that has been committed. The three main issues with the Daycare s
business processes involved in this case include; poor supervision, issues with
segregation of duties, authorization, and auditing procedures. Poor supervision over
the suspect was a major issue, Danny Jones had no one directly over him that
oversees his day to day duties, the expansion of the company could be the potential
cause of this, but top management should have seen that too much access was
trusted to Mr. Jones. Jones had multiple tasks given to him that should have required
authorization from a superior, this includes providing all information involving new
hires and current staff, and signing off on paychecks. If a few of his tasks where
segregated, his opportunity would also diminish. Examples include signing off on
final payroll papers, adding and deleting employees to the master file, and signing
final paychecks a distributing them. Auditing was another big issue that could have
detected this crime earlier. By auditing payroll periodically multiple red flags would
have presented themselves, including the numerous P.O. box addresses, and having
single addresses for multiple employees.

18. Social Warnings in Literature
Throughout time, works of literature have often carried messages of great social
importance. It is essential to understand these significant themes and agendas in order
to understand the basis of the novels. Throughout The Prophet s Hair by Salman
Rushdie, War of the Worlds by H.G. Wells and A Clockwork Orange by Anthony
Burgess, there is much evidence supporting the idea of social or political warnings,
one could argue, about the functionality of society and those who govern said
societies. The philosophies discovered by the reader (set there purposely by the
author) provide the means to the essential bridge between reading literature and
understanding the possibilities and comprehending the literature in question.

Did you think God had exempted Weybridge? He is not an insurance agent.
(p.78) This quote from the narrator helps us try to understand where he is coming
from. Society is based on evolution, not miracles, as many religions suggest. Faith
can only go so far; and after that, one can only depend on himself, not the religious
leader he looks to. This novel also hints at how unprepared the government is in
regards to national emergencies, from natural disasters to alien encounters. And
although the chances of humans interacting with extra terrestrial creatures are slim,
it would take an awfully closed minded person to assume that Earth is the only
planet with semi intelligent organisms. There is a lot of dependence upon the state
for guidance, as well as religion. And while the state may not be perfect to the
average citizen, in times of need or trouble, they are the religious back up. H.G.
Wells is practically screaming for society to gain a sense of self rather than a sense of
spiritual acknowledgement.
The novel A Clockwork Orangeis littered with ideologies regarding social and
political messages and allegorical imagery supporting Anthony Burgess pessimistic
approach to life during his later years. The coldness of reality, the societal need for
revenge and the importance of free will all play a large role in the philosophies given
in the book. The

Another misconception I had was that gangsters/mobsters controlled only corrupt
policemen and judges when in fact, they controlled people at all levels of the
government, occasionally even the president. Important characters like president
James K. Polk, the Kennedy s, and several senators had a relationship with Irish
American gangsters that contributed to the politician as well as the gangster s
success. Their strongest relationships though, were with the police force.
Becoming a policeman was encouraged by the White Anglo Saxon Protestants
because who better to take on the dangerous, low paying job than a Paddy? (61)
And so, Irishmen who often had grown up with famous mobsters ended up as the
majority of the police force; mobsters not only gained more power in the local area
due to this, but the stage was now set for corruption at all levels as well.
In addition to the educational facts, I also learned some neat fun facts about
gangsters and their traditions. Old Smoke Morrissey was the first true Irish Mob

Unorthodox methods or not, the way that Joe Clark teaches students about discipline
and the proper way to act around your elders is one to be reckoned with.
Yelling, name calling and humiliation, these are just some of the things that Joe
Clark had done to transform teachers who were once looked down upon by students
to people that they now look up to. Through harsh methods Joe Clark was able to
change teacher that once had no control over their students to people who are now
looked up to, but in order to change them he had to do more than just give them
respect they had to earn it and work hard to earn it by changing how they behaved
with their students. From the evidence shown it can be said that Joe Clark like his
teachers to act quickly and on command thus preparing them to act quickly without
notification if something were to happen in the school that would require their
immediate attention. From one of Joe Clark s quotes he states that, Discipline
establishes the format, the environment for academic achievement to occur , meaning
that without a firm hand of authority in a high position of a school, teachers will not
act to their full potential because they will feel

22. Howard Becker The Outsiders
In his 1963 book, Outsiders, Howard Becker discusses how social rules define
behaviors that are accepted in certain situations, and how in reactions to breaking
these rules one becomes an outsider. Enforcement of rules is contextual and
perception of one s deviance is measured on a spectrum relative to situational
factors. Because of this, some individuals can get away with certain behaviors that
others would become pariahs for exhibiting. Becker (1963) serves to emphasize that
social rules are not created by society, but instead within social groups: Societies are
not simple organizations in which everyone agrees on what the rules are and how
they are to be applied in specific situations. They are, instead, highly differentiated

Becker (1963) argues: ...acts of enforcement do not follow automatically on the
infraction of a rule. Enforcement is selective, and selective differentially among
kinds of people, at different times, and in different situations (p. 133).
Transgendered individuals, those who simply wish to express a gender not
assigned to them at birth have been highlighted throughout history as the objects of
violence, physical and verbal abuse, and discrimination because of their deviance
from the norm. In recent news, the former American Olympic athlete Bruce Jenner
admitted to identify more so with the fairer sex and decided he would now be
assuming female pronouns, and dressing like the typical (glamorized) female.
Those made uncomfortable by any queer identity rejected her, but many in support
glorified her decision. The rules of gender and gender bending have been long
enforced. When one within the groups breaks the boundary there are repercussions,
like violence to that individual. In Dolezal s case, her race crossing is a new sort of
deviance which requires a new set of values and consequences for her

Facing the changing of enterprise external environment, it asks for managers should
stand at the height of strategic management to makes an overall plan for the
development of the enterprise. The Balanced Scorecard (BSC) has great advantages
in the link of enterprise strategy and performance management. It covers strategic
areas, and includes human resource management. However, it has many shortages and
theoretical defect.
Recent research (Rui Z and Ming J, 2001) argued that most research on performance
evaluation tend to be more attention the analysis of some traditional index in China.
Although these traditional index which involved in BSC can reflect historical
outstanding achievement to some extent, but it can not fully reflected the healthy
situation for running and real reasons for developing. The new performance
measurement was designed on the basis of original BSC which will add some
dimensions to improve earning growth and promote enterprise long term stable
development.
The range of most Haier research is very wide. China scholars explain the successful

25. Red Blood Cell Is An Essential Treatment For Patients
With...
Red Blood Cell (RBC) transfusion is an essential treatment for patients with the
Sickle Cell Disease (SCD). Alloimmunization to RBC antigens has remained a
challenge due to the difference in antigen prevalence, such as in the case of people of
African origin and those of white descendent do not have a similar antigen
prevalence. The presence of RH heterogeneity leads to alteration of the representation
of the Rh antigen on a patient s RBC hence increasing chances of alloimmunization.
To be able to counter this, methods such as pre transfusion determination of extended
Rh (CcEe) and K antigen phenotypes and RBC phenotyping by hemagglutination
have been attempted. RBC phenotyping by hemagglutination has been the gold
standard, but is labor intensive and hindered by subjectivity in interpreting
agglutination reactions and transcription errors when manually transcribing results.
Testing is also limited by lack of reagents for a number of clinically significant
antigens.
10 DNA based assays targeting single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) associated
with blood group antigen expression offer an alternative. 11 14 Genotyping method
provide information on RBC antigens for which standardized serologic typing
reagents are not available and are responsive to high throughput testing with
computerized interpretation. RBC antigen phenotypes determined by single
nucleotide polymorphism analysis was compared with serologic testing for 13
routinely tested RBC antigens. The frequency of
26. Executive Privilege In The United States Vs. Richard Nixon
In the Supreme Court case United States vs. Richard Nixon there was a lot of
controversy about Nixon s executive privilege. Well, what is an executive privilege?
It is known as the privilege, or special right, claimed by the president in the executive
branch of the US government, of withholding information in the public interest.
Although Presidents get special privileges, their rights are not absolute and must be
balanced against other political interests (United Statesvs. Nixon). Nixon abused his
right of Executive privilege when he helped his government officials break into the
Watergate complex. It was said that the Watergate affair relates to the re election of
Richard Nixon, which later worked out in his favor because he won the election.
Well how did this get to the courts? With more than 5 people involved in the
scandal, they broke into the Democratic National Committee in Washington D.C.
and wiretapped the phones in the building and also stole important documents. The
burglars discovered that the microphones weren t working so they broke in again to
try to get them and put new ones in, but got caught by a security guard who noticed
that the door locks were taped over. They didn t know for sure if President Nixon
was involved until they found copies of the White House s reelection... Show more

The judges stated that neither the doctrine of separation of powers, nor the
generalized need for confidentiality of high level communications, without more, can
sustain an absolute, unqualified, presidential privilege (United States v. Nixon/Oyez).

in either military or diplomatic instances. Nixon abused his executive privilege and
has the right to obey the court with providing the tapes and documents that the
burglars stole in the break in and must now face the consequences of his actions.
Nixon resigned not much longer after releasing the tapes to the

28. A Reflection On Teaching Philosophy
A teaching philosophy statement is a document that educators prepare to express
their personal ideas regarding the teaching role. Often used as part of the application
packet for an academic position and in teaching portfolios for tenure and promotion
reviews, teaching philosophy statements allow educators to reflect on their teaching
practices and validate their success in teaching. Teaching philosophies can guide
academic nurse educators by ensuring that they are using varied pedagogies that
stimulate critical thinking and that the educationthey provide meets nursing s
standards of practice (Felicilda Reynaldo, Rhea Faye D., and Rose Utley, 2015)).
As a nurse educator I want to make a positive connection with students to inspire
them to provide excellent care and knowledge to their patients. I want them to
realize the sky is the limit for nurses, where career ladders are tall in this profession,
and how satisfying this career can be. The values I believe are important within my
nurse educator practice include quality care, trust, autonomy, advocacy,
accountability, knowledge, and inquiry. Inquiry is the process of seeking,
developing, and applying knowledge. I believe students need to possess a sense of
inquiry for learning to occur. Inquiry develops essential critical thinking and problem
solving skills which are required for a successful nursing practice.
Nurse educators should instruct and model the importance of ethical and legal
professional accountability.

McGuffey, Emma Willard, and Maria Montessori all great teachers who did their
work very well and they had a profound impact on the lives of innumerable people. In

The philosophy of Montessori Method not only affected her age, but also affects
today s world because it was developed by lots of scientific and psychological
observations and the study results which make Montessori Method different than
traditional education system. These differences makes Montessori s System much
successful than other traditional education systems. Montessori education has been
practised over than 100 years. Maria Montessori developed the first Montessori
school in 1907 in Rome. Today, more than 5000 schools in the United States,
including 300 public schools, use the Montessori Method. According to Rathunde;
Montessori anticipated many contemporary Child centred or developmentally
appropriate educational practises and was an advocate for the active child when it
was not yet fashionable. She understood children s learning process, learning ability,
learning environment, and dynamics of teaching. Montessori system gives an
opportunity to children to have better social and academic skills. Montessori
education s main points are freedom without any limits, independences, respect to
children psychological, physical, social, and mental basics, requirements, and
developments. In Montessori education system; children take education in multi aged
classrooms, student have a chance to choose the next activity, there is no exact

Anxiolytics are medications that decrease anxiety while hypnotics promote sleep.
Some medications termed benzodiazepines are effective and used predominantly for
anxiety but aid sleep due to having sedating properties. Benzodiazepine intended uses
are for anxiety (general, panic, anticipatory and anxiety secondary to stress), sleep,
side effects of other medications, agitation, alcohol and other sedative/hypnotic
withdrawal and muscle spasms. Benzodiazepines include diazepam, lorazepam,
clonazepam and alprazolam where all possess addictive properties. Other medications
useful in treating anxiety without sedating properties include buspirone and D
cycloserine.
Prior to prescribing a sleeping pill, it is imperative to assess the nature of the sleep
problem (p 200) as insomnia and sleep apnea which may require specific treatment

benzodiazepines, specific GABA A receptor agonists, sedating antidepressants,
medications that change the circadian rhythm and over the counter sleeping pills.

32. Peter Pan Is A Subversive For Children s Book
Children s literature is an effective teaching tool for children but also a way for
children to escape their daily lives through fantasy. Didactic material can be used to
teach life lessons, manners and morals where subversive and fantasy genres can
allow children to release from daily expectations and allows an outlet for their large
imaginations. I argue that Peter Panby J.M. Barrie is both didactic and subversive. It
is subversive in the sense that it is whimsical and entertaining. This is proven in the
Fanatical style of Barrie with children flying, fighting pirates and never having to
grow up if they choose to stay in Neverland, the place where grown ups aren t
allowed. However, the text is also didactic because it teaches the lesson of fairness
and gender roles of the time. In total both of these elements make Barrie s Peter Pan
an exceptional children s book that enables children to be entertained and learn values
of fairness and societal roles of the publication time.
Peter Pan is subversive in many elements, from flying, dogs that are caretakers,
magical places, fairies made from laughter and the idea that adults are forbidden.
The text takes the children to Neverland where there are no adults and you never
have to grow up. In the child s eye of then and now adult life is mundane and
structured. To quote Alison Lurie s A Child s Garden of Subversion books of Peter
Pan and alike about subversive texts These were the sacred texts of childhood, whose

issues or problems that the previous generation had to face head on. Whether it be
the mess of emotions called love, trying to be accepted from your parents, or merely
trying to figure out the world around them. Teen movies shed a light on the complex
lives a teengers. In the films, Breakfast Club, Heathers, and Donnie Darko, the idea of
figuring out who one is an individual runs through each movie through their teenage
characters. The Breakfast Club, directed by John Hughes, uses stereotypes and

However, Heathers uses them in a different way than the Breakfast Club uses
them. People are defined by their stereotypes. They are not meant to be broken.
The bully is actually a real bad person and the meek nerd are just nerds. Personality
and depth is almost gone in how Heathers shows the use of stereotypes. Veronica,
the main protagonist, struggles to find her identity throughout her journey in the
film. Her best friends are all named Heather and she is different from them all. In
High School, it s hard to be true to yourself and discover who you are when you
don t fit in. One of the Heathers decides to prank a girl by sending her a fake note
from a boy. Heather needs Veronica to forge the handwriting. This little prank
means that a girl is going to think a boy, who she has a crush on, has feelings for
her. In the moment in the film, Veronica starts to figure out who she is as a person.
She writes the note. This goes against what she soon realizes is what goes against.
Writing the note set the tone of who Veronica does not what to be. In this moment,
it catalysts her to evaluate who she is. Veronica isn t a high school mean girl, nerd,
burn out, or any of the other stereotypes present in the film. Her transformation of
who she sees herself as an individual comes to a head in the final scene. The girl
who Veronica originally humiliated is the type of person Veronica wants to

Rapid software changes often introduce variations in package installation methods,
creating discrepancies between the methods and the lab documentation.
Consequently, students must resolve these issues which might be beyond their
current skill level. This can cause the student quite a bit of stress, especially in an
accelerated course lasting only eight weeks. Simply telling the students to install the
latest package , unfortunately, cannot be the answer to this dilemma. While version
three might be the latest version, it could also not be completely stable, which is not
entirely uncommon. Once again, this leads to a frustrating situation where students
cannot get a lab to operate with the latest package, but would have had no issues
with a slightly older and more stable package. The current labs have system
requirements that their current personal system may not meet, nor is feasible to
upgrade to meet the requirements. In addition, a laptop or desktop may not be their
preferred system to utilize, with mobile devices such as smart phones and tablets
readily available. Because of these restrictions, the student may not realize their
system inadequacy until they have partially completed the class. This could force
them to drop the class adding to their financial burden and possibly imperiling their
degree timetable. The success of the labs is not just based on understanding and
performing the required work with the labs, but also the
37. Saving Private Ryan Ethics
Saving Private Ryan is a film based during World War II. The main characters of
the movie are elite soldiers out of the 2nd ranger battalion. The soldiers of the 2nd
ranger Battalion were part of the initial invasion and were vital in the taking of
Normandy beach. This was just the beginning for this group of soldiers destined
for a mission save Private James Francis Ryan. The major ethical debate started in
the United States Chief of Staff s office following the discovery that a mother
would receive three telegrams on the same day informing her that three of her four
sons had died in combat. In the office the group weighs the decision to pull out her
only surviving son from behind enemy lines and send him home safely. Private
Ryan was in the 101 airborne division and missed there drop deep behind enemy
lines and there exact whereabouts are unknown. The group is split between
risking men s lives to save one man, presuming he is alive, and a sense of
responsibility to the mother of the boys to bring her one son back safely. The
decision is made to save Private Ryan after the Chief of Staff reads a letter by
Abraham Lincoln. Dear Madam: I have been shown in the files of the War
Department a statement of the Adjutant General of Massachusetts that you are the
mother of five sons who have died gloriously on the field of battle. I feel how weak

incarceration option in particular probation forms the backbone of the juvenile justice
system. Read on to learn about the different kinds of sentencing options used in
juvenile court, the ins and outs of probation, and whether a disposition order can be
appealed or changed. (For more information on juvenile court cases, see Nolo s article

Probation has been called the workhorse of the juvenile justice system according to
the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention, probation is the most
common disposition in juvenile cases that receive a juvenile court sanction. In an
average year, about half of all minors judged to be delinquent receive probation as the
most restrictive sentence. Specific terms of probation vary widely from jurisdiction
to jurisdiction, and from case to case. Typically, a juvenile must obey both the general
terms of probation and any additional requirements tailored to the particular case. The
court usually expects that parents or a guardian will help the juvenile fulfill the
conditions of the probation order. These conditions can include community service,
attendance at a certain school, counseling, curfews, and orders that the juvenile not
associate with certain individuals (as in cases involving suspected gang members). As
part of probation, some juveniles must attend special day treatment programs that
provide additional monitoring and educational services including anger management
classes, social skills building, and substance abuse education. Probation Officers A
juvenile placed on probation is assigned to a probation officer who monitors the
youth s compliance with the court s disposition order. The juvenile meets with the
probation officer periodically (weekly or twice month, for example), and the juvenile

with special needs to give them the best pathway to a fulfilling life. I did not find
any jobs involving children with special needs in the Middle East. I sought out
teaching jobs with preschool or kindergarten children. The first possible job is
located in Kuwait at a preschool. My responsibilities would be to support and
educate the children at the preschool. I would need to follow the mission of the
preschool. I would need to integrate with the staff and parents. I would need to
demonstrate a professional work ethic and a positive attitude. Salary: $2400 a month

galleries are home to the world s largest known stalactite. These upper galleries are
accessible by foot, but the lower galleries are only accessible by boat. The caves
were discovered by an American missionary in 1863, and later explored by

/www.middleeast.com/jeitagrotto.htm Luxor Temple Egypt I have been fascinated
with the history of the Egyptians since I saw the Tutankhamun exhibition when I
was a child. Luxor is the site of the famous, ancient city of Thebes. The temple is
still a place of worship, and has been for thousands of years. There are 32 columns in
the Hypostyle hall, which are incredibly tall. The start of the temple in 1400BC, or
AH 802, was built by Amenhotep III, and his grandson, Tutankhamun,

Chad Hurley once said If something excites you, go for it. People will not
complete anything ever if they do not first, go for it. When someone loves
something, grab the idea, and make it possible. Chad Hurley was born on January
24, 1977 in Reading, Pennsylvania. His occupation is an internet entrepreneur. He
posted his first video on YouTube on April 23, 2005 and by February of 2006,
YouTube had become one of the most popular sites. It would show an average of
30 million videos a day! Chad Hurley created YouTube, using creating and
imagining to innovate ways to overcome the video technology, and illuminated the
world by changing the way people share videos forever. Chad Hurley created
YouTube, a social media website, used for the purpose of sharing videos on the
internet with the world. YouTube is very successful, especially nowadays with
YouTubers at 50,000,000 subscribers who get paid for the views on their videos. He
created YouTube with the help of his best friend, Steve Chen. Videos can range from
tutorials on anything, DIYs, challenges, funny skits, video games, food, reacting, and

What primarily set it apart from the others was its ease of use people could watch a
video by simply hitting the play button and post one just as easily by sending an
email with an attachment ( Steve Chen and Chad Hurley, January 5, 2007). People
began to gain viewers and subscribers as YouTube became more popular, and
YouTube started paying YouTubers with lots of views on their videos. People were
earning money by making videos and posting them on YouTube! You can be
rewarded with YouTube trophies too. When you reach 100,000, you get a Silver Play

extraordinary website as well. You can like, dislike, subscribe, comment, and much
41. Biomedical Appliances And The Destruction They Bring
Biomedical Appliances and the Destruction They Bring In the ever growing industry
of biomedical sciences, many devices have the potential to cause harm to the
environment. They have to be treated with such caution and have drastic disposal
measures in place to make sure no damage is done to the environment. Yes, these
steps are incredibly important with devices such as these, but why use a product with
such devastating potential? With today s modern technology and brilliant scientists
should put more effort into creating more environmentally friendly biomedical
technology whilst still having the same benefits. The world today is ever changing
and technology is progressively advancing each and every day. Laura Cabrera wrote
an article in which she discusses the effect humans have on the environmentand how
the environment affects them. The goal of the article is to discover how biomedical
science can be further developed by understanding the environmental impact of
humans. Technological advancements have yielded positive economic growth,
improved standards of living, and provided new ways of protecting humanhealth. At
the same time, technology has contributed to widespread negative changes in the
environment that include global climate change, deforestation, suburban sprawl,
ecosystem loss, and increased health risks from exposure to radiation, toxicants, and
stress (Cabrera 1). Whereas this technology can be lifesaving and a great benefit to a
modern health, it can
42. Pet Peeves Research Paper
I have chosen to write about my pet peeves. I would like you to know, I don t ever
vent about my life, normally I am actually the therapist of my group of friends,
meaning that they usually tell me what s wrong with them. Considering that, this
is a list that is long in the making. I mustn t hold this in any longer. By the way, If I
use the words you or your I am not talking to you directly, I m just talking to a
general audience. So, without further ado, my list begins. NUMBER ONE: I loathe it
when I have a slushie and I drink all the juice and all I have left is the ice because the
ice takes FOREVER to melt and by the time it has melted, I have just given up and
thrown it away. There goes five dollars! NUMBER TWO: One of my worst pet
peeves is if I can hear someone s music... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
NUMBER THREE: People, please don t meander down the hallways. When I m
trying to get back upstairs after allied arts, the rush hour traffic in Manhattan
mover faster than the kids in our grade walking down the hall. NUMBER FOUR:
If you re lingering in a doorway or the hall, please keep walking. People are trying
to get to their classes, they don t need you stagnant, in their way having a
conversation with your friends about which guy is more attractive. Furthermore,
please don t stop right in front of me when I m walking. I might run you over on
accident . NUMBER FIVE: If I say something and you think it might be funny to
respond with what? I didn t hear you repeatedly to make me repeat myself, I might
yell at you. That s not even funny. I just want to know, what kind of person is
entertained by that? And depending on the amount of times you make me repeat
myself, I might think it funny to not hear you when you ask for a favor or what
notes you were supposed to take while you took your ten minute bathroom break.
NUMBER SIX: If you ever come to my ice cream shop, It would be nice if you
actually got Ice cream and didn t park your car in the middle of the lot for hours
43. Questions On Cadet Wing Commander
MEMORANDUM FOR RECORD
SUBJECT: How I would return Det. 775 to number 1 as Cadet Wing Commander
1. Being Cadet Wing Commander is something that I really want to do. Before
coming to Detachment 775, since coming to USC I have learned that we were once
the number one small detachment in the nation and as Cadet Wing Commander I will
everything I can in order to return it that status. In order to do this I will try to get
everyone involved, I would make sure everyone is on the same page as far as rules,
goals, and information being distributed, and I would change PT to accommodate
more cadets. 2. Currently I am not as involved in the detachment as I would like to
be, but I am a very persistent person and will ensure assignments ... Show more

4. Changing PT in the morning to accommodate everyone:
a. There is no doubt that there is a significant skill level during PT. PT should be
split at least 3 4 PT sessions a month. Meaning cadets are broken up based on their
personal skill level and which area they need the most help in. This way every cadet
is being pushed to the max.
b. We all have a goal to decrease our run time and exercises such as the Indian run
will push cadets to improve their running score. Therefore, by intensifying PT as the
semester continues and completing more intense exercises, cadets will be pushed to
their max and scores will improve.
c. Setting high goals will push and motivate cadets to push themselves harder than the
previous PT session. Goals such as:
(1.) If the detachment as a whole does at least 15% higher from the PFD taken in
fall to the PFD taken in spring, then the cadets will get to choose what exercises will
be done for one PT session.
(2.) Cadets run time for 1.5 mile run will decrease by 30 seconds from the beginning
of the semester to the end of the semester.
(3.) Cadets will be able to increase their personal push up amount done in one minuet
by at least five push ups by the end of the semester, unless they have maxed the
number of pushups required for the standardized PT test.
5. At this point in time if I were to become cadet Wing Commander, I do not feel I
would be able to effectively and
