Comparing The Diving Bell And The Butterfly
The Diving Bell and the Butterfly is a movie presenting the life of Jean Dominique Bauby, a
gentleman who suffered a severe stroke, which caused him to endure a peculiar disorder called
locked in syndrome. The symptoms of this render him paralyzed from head to toe, without the
ability to speak. In the opening of the movie, Bauby is unaware that he cannot speak because he
shows confusion when no one is responding to what he is saying. The only consistent, physical
movement that he has is the ability to move his one functioning eye, and blink his eyelid open and
shut. In order for Bauby to communicate, the speech therapist has instructed him to blink once to
indicate yes and twice to indicate no . Locked in syndrome is a neurological disorder that leaves the
patient aware or their surroundings, memories, and language, but due to the loss of voluntary
movements, speech is lost (Adaes, 2015). Bauby displays all of these symptoms, explaining that he
only thing that keeps him sane is his ability to escape through his imagination and memories... Show

In order for Jean Bauby to communicate, she would recite him the most commonly used letters in
order repeatedly, having him blink once she reached the letter he desired to communicate. This
allowed him to spell out words and eventually sentences in order to have a form of communication
with the people he interacted with. At the beginning of his treatment, this was very frustrating for
him and he lost hope until he finally decided to stop pitying himself. Other forms of treatment
were with his physiotherapist, Marie, who was teaching him how to swallow. For example, when
she was trying to have him move his tongue from the front of his mouth to his palate, this will
improve his ability to gain use of his tongue again and eventually lead to him being able to swallow

A Comparison Of Everything Will Be Okay And Stray
Most people from an early age have a dream; often people give up on them and most of the time
around middle school or late elementary school. It is the prime time where everyone gets
discouraged by bullying and the realization that life is tough that dawns in the child s mind
around this time. The discouraging factor could also be due to an unsupportive family, which is
shown primarily by the short stories Everything Will Be Okay by James Howe and Stray by
Cynthia Rylant. The main characters in each story have a conflict over a desire. In Everything Will
Be Okay Our main character loses the argument in the end and the kitten he desperately wanted to
keep the cat, but he learns the invaluable lesson not to give up on your dreams.... Show more content

Doris Turned around. What? I said, you had better feed your dog. This clearly shows she has
won the argument about keeping the dog. Her father would never say it if the dog was at the
pound. Doris did not give up and won the argument and she never gave up on the dog. Thus clearly
shows that it is worth it to keep pushing on even if the first response is negative.
To continue on, In both stories the main characters have a enemy as far as keeping their
respective pets. Their own families, in fact. The driving force in both of these stories is the
characters in the story having to fight for their case. We know in Everything Will Be Okay the
main reason the family will not keep the kitten is its health. The cat would be expensive to fix.
We know this is the main reason from the quote, Well, she happens to be right, Paul tells me.
With an animal that far gone, you do not have a choice. It has to be put to sleep. With an animal
that far gone, he means it is deathly sick. If it the main reason against the cat was the family just
does not like animals or someone in the house has an allergy, he would have mentioned it. In
stray, the family is poor, but the dog is in relatively good condition, certainly better than the
kitten in Everything Will Be Okay. They reason the parents would not keep the dog was it would
be expensive to own and care for. They would need to buy food, a dog bowl, a bed, a leash and all
the other essential items every dog owner would need

Compare And Contrast Tom Buchanan And Jay Gatsby
In the 1920 s there was a lot to be said of how people made their money, had parties, and the love
for one another. This was the era when the financial gain was good, at lease for the upper class
population. Even though some people made a living illegally, some bought up bonds and saved
them. There were two men that had several similarities in this day and time, but also had a lot of
differences. These men were Jay Gatsby and Tom Buchanan. It was the way that the love came
about the money that made the difference in their lives. They both loved the same woman, they
both had money, and yet their personalities were so different. Tom Buchanan was married to Daisy
Buchanan. He loved her deeply and passionately, but he was a womanizer. He always

Examples Of Beauty In Dancer From The Dance
In the novel Dancer from the Dance the author uses beauty and aesthetics in many different
ways. The author uses beauty and aesthetics in ways such as, the night life in the city, the
relationships between the characters in Dancer from the Dance, the clothing that the character s
wear, and the way each character looks. The characters in Dancer from the Dance feel like
themselves when they are able to dress, act, and go places where they won t be judged by others.
The author shows the reader that during the day the characters have to hide who they really are so
that they won t be judged by society, but at night the characters are free to do what they want and
won t be judged for it because they will be with others like themselves. The characters do the things
that they do because that is who they are, and there is beauty in those things.
The characters in Dancer from the Dance dress in normal clothing during the day so that they can
fit into society. One of the main characters in the novel is Andrew Sutherland. Andrew Sutherland
dresses as a drag queen at night when he goes out to gay bars at night. He dresses as drag queen
because that makes him feel like himself. For some gay males, clothing is a semiotic
marker for identity creation. (Schofield). Sutherland is a man that has money and a sense for
fashion. Since he has the money to buy nice expensive clothes, he does. Because of their spending
power, gay consumers have been found to be more brand and fashion conscious

Gemalto The Leader In Digital Security, Has Made The Wave
Gemalto the leader in digital security, has made the wave in payment technology to the United
States, specially adapted to the growing lifestyle of today s contemporary consumer. Contactless
EMV offers the same high level of security as contact EMV cards, joined with a tap and pay feature
that drastically speeds up transactions, benefitting issuers, merchants and cardholders.
Contactless cards have transformed payments worldwide, with more than 1.2 billion such cards
distributed in 2015. Gemalto, the leader in contactless, has distributed more than 1 billion of those
globally throughout the past five years. Gemalto s contactless cards are now in 77 countries

For EMV, the readers access data stored on the chips in the cards to verify cardholders are entering
the correct PINs. Contactless cards, the chips transfer the card account number to the reader using
wireless technology. Mohammad Khan, founder and president of Vivo tech Inc., a provider of
contactless payment terminals and software, says as more countries switch to EMV, criminals
will shift their energy to the United States, where the mag strip infrastructure is easier to
circumvent. The U.S. as a country is open to attack. The fraud people always move toward the
weakest point, Khan says. Every other country in the world has a deadline to move to EMV. I
believe the industry needs a deadline in the U.S. as well. CardLine; 2/6/2009, Vol. 9 Issue 6, p12

Gemalto s Contactless or tap and go cards met with immediate success, fitting in perfectly with the
life style expectation of the cardholders. They are fast, convenient, secure and to put it in one
word cool. Research demonstrated how much the speed of transaction and the convenience of
tapping are seen as direct advantages both by the cardholder and by the merchant. I have always
been surprised to see the concern some card issuers have about the security of contactless
payments. It is amazing to see how much cardholders appreciate the security of their contactless
cards. Not only

What Is The Main Point Of The Return Of Martin Guerre
The Return of Martin Guerre by Natalie Davis a return that some may say focuses a little too
much on the touch of the and skewers into a romance and that would be the perspective of Robert
Finlay. Although Finlay does bring up some very key and valid points about The Return of Martin
Guerre but I do feel that Davis over all in both of her argument best describes what would happen.
Starters Davis is right in saying that Bertrande knew that the 1st Martin that arrived was not her
husband. When she saw him she, however she recoiled in surprise. Not until he had spoken to her
affectionately, reminding her of things they had done in and talked about, specifically mentioning
the white hosen in the trunk, did she fall upon his neck and kiss him;... Show more content on

Well obviously Bertrande and Arnaud du Tilh had intercourse since they conceived a child. Even
that proverb is not uniquely pertinent, for, in the conditions of sexual intercourse in peasant
households of preindustrial Europe the couple clothed, in the darkened house, amid the cold and
dirt, surrounded by livestock and relatives any wife of Artigat might equally well have regarded
her bedmate with the jaded perspective expressed in the notorious masculine slur, De nuit tous
chats son gris. (Robert Finlay pg559) I have a difficult time with some of this because if this
where all to be true which I m sure he is exaggerating a little bit I bet a donkey wasn t sharing the
bet with them. I do bet they probably had dirt floors and it probably was a little cold but that
doesn t exclude her from knowing that he was not her husband because every person is different
granted she hasn t been with her real husband in a very long time but I m pretty sure she would
know the touch of a man. I am for sure going to have to agree with Davis on this you get older
but your connection as husband and wife doesn t change that s what I think Davis is really
trying to point out in the book is that as husband and wife even if it where only a few times
together they would still remember those the rest of there lives. Finley goes out and says at night
all cats are gray meaning that they really would have know idea who one would be with as long as

Anatomy of a Hipster Essay
Over time, social group labels tend to mutate from their original interpretation, due to societal
evolution. The hipster is no exception, as it originally referred to 1940s Bebop Jazz enthusiasts.
Hipsters has since become the term referencing pretentious rich kids, attempting to recreate a
sense of underground ness; whether it be music or style related. However, hipsters of today differ
from the former in the sense that their actions are fueled solely by effort, rather than sheer interest
of being outlandish and chic concurrently with music and style. The typical hipster is obsessed
with trends before they were trendy they wore American Apparel v necks1 before Mitchell Davis2

Musically speaking, there is no definite hipster band. Indie kids will always be identified with
Death Cab6, while the hipster will try to claim The Postal Service7 as their melodic saviors.
Once again, a rip off. Hipsters hugely identify with the phrase Oh, I doubt you ve heard of them,
when asked about their favorite bands. Anything offbeat or mildly controversial is loved by the
hipster YACHT8, the Shins9, The Strokes any band, regardless of style that is lesser known.
When it comes to music, hipsters also love to claim that they liked a particular band before they
sold out or before they gave in to the Man. However, it presents another irony, as the excessive
amounts of hipsters actually buying their music is what contributed to a band selling out. If Owl
City has any B Sides out there, a hipster has them and won t feel like sharing them anytime soon,
even if they did find it on Mediafire10. The most distinguishing feature of the hipster lies in their
personalities. They can point out a fellow hipster quick and concise; while drowning in denial
should the label be imposed on them. Hipsters all contain some superiority based thought process
when analyzing their own originality. However, if one is to be thinking extensively about whether
or not they re being different, they re more than likely not. Such a

Kashmir Conflict Between Pakistan and India
KASHMIR CONFLICT BETWEEN PAKISTAN AND INDIA
The State of Jammu and Kashmir is situated between Pakistan and India. Among the key reasons
for tension between Pakistan and India is the key problem of Kashmir. Whereas Pakistan has
repeatedly termed this the core issue in its relationship with India, India has maintained that this
matter was settled with Kashmir s accession to India in October 1947. As far as India has been
concerned, therefore, the only issue for discussion has been what India regards as Pakistan s
continuing illegal occupation of part of Jammu and Kashmir, an occupation that began in
1947В–48, during the war between the two. About 63 per cent of the territory is under Indian
occupation; while the rest, 37 per cent, is with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Due to the above mentioned facts, neither Pakistan nor India wants to lose Kashmir. In 1947,
India and Pakistan went to war over Kashmir. During the war, it was India which first took the
Kashmir dispute to the United Nations on 1 January 1948 The following year, on 1 January
1949, the UN helped enforce ceasefire between the two countries. The ceasefire line is called the
Line of Control. It was an outcome of a mutual agreement between India and Pakistan that the
UN Security Council (UNSC) and UN Commission for India and Pakistan (UNCIP) passed
several resolutions in years following the 1947 48 war. The UNSC Resolution of 21 April 1948
one of the principal UN resolutions on Kashmir stated that both India and Pakistan desire that the
question of the accession of Jammu and Kashmir to India or Pakistan should be decided through
the democratic method of a free and impartial plebiscite .
India s first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru made a pledge to resolve the Kashmir dispute in
accordance with the UN resolutions. The sole criteria to settle the issue, he said, would be the
wishes of the Kashmir people . A pledge that Prime Minister Nehru started violating soon after the
UN resolutions was passed. In 1965, India and Pakistan once again went to war over Kashmir. A
cease fire was established in September 1965. Indian Prime Minister Lal Bhadur Shastri and
Pakistani president Ayub Khan signed the Tashkent Declaration on 1 January

How Did Jesus Christ Changed History
How Jesus Christ changed history
Throughout history there have been many important and historical figures. All have been mostly
rulers, brutal murderers, or heroes. All but which the Savior Jesus Christ, who is cast separately
from the likes of the others. He is different, he is not only a historical figure, but is the basis and
one of the main parts of a religion. Through his life, Jesus ultimately created Christianity. One who
has gone on to be called many names and tell many stories. He hasn t only impacted history, he has
changed history itself.
One of the main and impactful pieces of Jesus life was his baptism. Not only was it a marking
point in his life, it was also one of his first public ministries. John the Baptist, Jesus cousin,
baptized people as a sign of repentance. Seeing as he did it in a river instead of the traditional
baptismal water bowl, it meant that adults come under their own consent and ask him to baptize
themselves with the water from the river. Jesus, who was the Son of God and a pure, sinless being,
did not need the baptism from John. Although it was not needed, Jesus consented the baptism as he

resurrection. It marked the nearing end of jesus story and shows all the Christians he truly is the
Son of God, and that the lasting effects also impact non Christians. Over all, all these events were
keys to the whole religion, which the religion itself changed the whole world and the way the
followers, 2.8 billion people, live. These 3, and many more, events lead to the final product,

What Is The Impact Of Tolkien s Influence On The Modern...
Upon researching one of the most well loved stories of the last century, one will without doubt
encounter the name of the author of such a book. The fictional world of the story is set in a land
of elves and orcs, dwarves and humans, and, most importantly, hobbits. It is a tale of bravery,
friendship, determination, corruption, and it is a tale of a great journey. The title of the story is
The Lord of the Rings, and the author of it is J.R.R. Tolkien. J.R.R. Tolkien produced one of the
most beloved stories of the last century, and has influenced the modern world of fantasy. (J(ohn)

Born in Bloemfontein, South Africa on January 3, 1892, Tolkien lived to be 81 years old, and
died on September 2, 1973 due to complications resulting from a bleeding gastric ulcer and a
chest infection. He attended Exeter College in Oxford from 1911 to 1919, and then went on to be
an author and a scholar. Token was a lover of language, and this is shown in his most admired
stories, The Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings. To quote Humphrey Carpenter in J.R.R. Tolkien: a

Death Penalty or Life in Prison
Death Penalty I began my research by looking into the death penalty or also known as capital
punishment. The death penalty is the action of executing a person who has committed an illegal act
equivalent to death. Crimes punishable by death vary depending on the state; some include murder,
sexual assault, treason, and other serious capital crimes ( Crimes Punishable , 2011). There are
many different outlooks on the death penalty; some in favor of the death penalty believe it is the
ultimate balance between good and evil and they often use the phrase, an eye, for an eye. By using
death as punishment they can assure society ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Life in Prison
I continue my research on the effects of life in prison opposed to the death penalty. Life
imprisonment is any sentence for serious crimes that insures the offender spends life
equivalency in prison or at least until parole. In a lot of cases when an offender is sentenced to
life in prison they don t get the advantage of parole. No one ever sentenced to life without parole
has ever been released, they spend the rest of their lives in prison and they usually die of natural
causes (Wilbur, 2012). The advantages of life imprisonment are few but worth looking over, for
example it saves an abundant amount of money. It costs tax payers $90,000 more per prisoner
each year for inmates on death row then they pay for the general prison population. Also it saves
many innocent lives of those who were wrongly accused. More than 200 innocent men and women
have been freed from prison in California after it was discovered that they were wrongfully
convicted; three of them were sentenced to die for crimes they did not commit ( The Truth, n.d.).
The disadvantages of spending life in prison are serious and dangerous. Prisons all over the
country are becoming very overpopulated, causing less aid for each inmate. Inmates sentenced to
death in prison receive less access to programs and no special treatment unlike other prisoners ( The
Truth, n.d.). Prison aren t pleasant, someone convicted

Currently, many businesses are looking toward engagement, which measures satisfaction,
commitment, and also energy and enthusiasm. How a person feels about the work they do
everyday has the greatest impact on engagement since they want to feel valued and be recognized
for their efforts. That is truer now than ever since many people are working more than the standard
forty hours a week and want to know that their time away from family matters. Satisfied employees
are not necessarily engaged. Engaged employees have an emotional connection to the organization,
believe they are contributing, and are growing both individually and professionally and put forth
additional effort to complete tasks. That being said, recent studies suggest employers should switch
their focus from employee satisfaction to employee engagement scores since it is a better indicator
for retention of talent, satisfaction in culture and branding, and stakeholder value. While trying to
recruit new talent from outside the organization, it is equally important to re recruit top
performers that are already employed. Discussing why they made the decision to join the
company the first time and engaging them in conversations regularly to discuss their needs and
vision for the future is key for retention. The goal is to keep that original desire fresh on their
mind. (Fox, 2014) Many employees do not have to seek

30 October 2017 Marissa recently found out she was pregnant, she was taking birth control pills
as contraceptives to avoid a pregnancy, but she knew she needed to take an emergency
contraceptive. Marissa was a pro life activist, meaning she opposed abortions. She, along with all
the other pro life supporters, never did accept that people had abortions. People felt the same on
the topic as her, they were all completely against abortions and shamed woman who had took part
in the practice. She did not even understand why people even thought about having abortions, she
believed only egotistical woman wanted them. Until she found out she was pregnant, but knew she
did not want to start a family with the man nor did she believe it was the right time, she knew it
was a mistake. Marissa was finally in their shoes, she finally understood. Being pro choice is
supporting legal abortions, but it is also protecting women s right to choose. Pro choice advocates
believe there is nothing wrong with ladies getting to choose to keep their unborn baby or not, and
there is nothing wrong with choosing to go through with an abortion. People should become pro
choice advocates because a woman should decide her reproductive health care, have access to birth
control and emergency contraceptives, and although it s believed abortions are dangerous, having
abortions is safer than giving birth.

The Theory Of Language Development
As of the present, humans are the only species that are able to put together structural linguistic
formations, such as words and sentences. Throughout the years there have been many theorists
trying to master the acquisition of human language and demonstrate the theory of how language is
developed in early years of life. This is a question people, including myself often think about. Using
two theorists, Burrhus Fredrick Skinner (1904 1990) and Avram Noam Chomsky(1928 present) we
will explore the two theories they studied in their lifetime and dedicate their life to, and contrast the
two theories of language development, exploring the Behaviorist Theory, studied by Skinner and
the Nativist Theory, studied by Chomsky.
These two theories of language development differ greatly from each other. Both Skinner and
Chomsky believed strongly in their theory. The first difference in the development of their theories
lies greatly in both of their occupations. Skinner was a psychologist and Chomsky was a linguist.
Skinner believed in the psychological side of language development and believed that children
learn to acquire language by using taught responses where he used his reinforcement theory and
believed it had nothing to do with any mental processes or devices in the brain that develop
language. Chomsky on the other hand used the idea where he believed strongly in the human brains
capability to use the Language Acquisition Device used in the brain, and the natural inbuilt ability

strategies and restructuring which are discussed in the paper. Introduction: Mayor Paul Schell
was committed to end the homelessness problems in Seattle. He requested the city council to
provide him adequate support in his pursuit to end the homelessness of children, women and
families. In 1998 in his press conference he mentioned his desire to satisfy the needs of the

homelessness will end by Christmas and to assist him Alan Painter, the director of the service of
the community division, held a key role in the planning and strategy formulation. (K. Oldham,

the complete focus on homeless people by the Mayor would affect the other issues which would be

fathers to be able to take a long absence from work and not be paid for the time off. 86 percent of
men said they would not take a paid leave unless they made at least 70 percent of their current

paternity leave for fathers. There are 29 countries in Africa, 7 in Asia, 5 in Eastern Europe and
Central Asia, 12 in Lain America, 2 in the Middle East, and 24 in the Developed Economies

laws allowing fathers a leave of absence from work with some sort of pay. While the current family

Instead of asking How does it work? as is everyone else, he begins to ask What do we gain by
knowing? And herein lies the beginning of the investigation Whitman undertakes through his poetry.
The first four lines describe the experience the speaker had while in the lecture room. They don t
directly give away his feelings regarding what is going on around him; he leaves the reader to
detect the attitude on his/her own. The first half could practically be construed as one long first
line, since all four serve the same general purpose that is, to subtly set the beginning tone while
creating an adequate contrast with the last four lines of the poem. They seem to focus mainly on
providing an accurate picture of the situation around the speaker, and are structurally more
complex, providing a more straightforward description than the last four lines. Each line becomes
progressively longer than the next, and the words Whitman chooses are rather flat and all quite
literal in their meanings. This first half seems to be a forthright narrative describing his experience
in the lecture hall. But delicate hints in the text itself insinuate his attitude toward the lecture and
audience.
The most conspicuous trend is Whitman s application of repetition. The repetition of the beginning
word when creates a monotonous, listing style also employed in the next three lines illustrating

External and Internal Factors
There are many external and internal factors that impact the planning functions of management. We
must all be mindful of these factors because they could have an enormous impact on organizations
productivity. The process of assessing the external and internal factors that an organization will face
can be vital to the planning function of management. One must determine a set of issues and

Strengths and weaknesses come from the internal environment of the firm. Strengths can be
exploited, built upon and made key to accomplishment of mission and objectives. Strengths reflect
past accomplishments in production, financial, marketing and human resource management.
Weaknesses are internal characteristics that have the potential to limit accomplishment of mission
and objectives. Weaknesses may be so important that they need to be addressed before any further
strategic planning steps are taken. A basic determination of a firm s relative strengths and
weaknesses is often the first step in the internal evaluation. A hidden benefit in internal evaluations
is the opportunity for participants to understand how their jobs, departments, and divisions fit into
the whole organization. A manager s forced communications that occur across departmental lines
produces an additional benefit in improving communication within the organization.
The assessment of internal factors analyze inside the physical confines of the organization. These
factors are within the control of the organization. The internal assessment considers plan
implementation, structure, culture, innovation, diversity, ethics, processes and technology. All of
the factors can have a grave impact on the success of an organization. This is why the planning
function of management is so important. Technology is rapidly changing, and for a business to

Communism And Capitalism And Communism Essay
Introduction:
Political Science has left its scholar an extremely wide ocean, filled with endless studies and
undone debates about Political Sciences theories. All through the past ages, political scientists
have rose from diverse cultures, examining their ideologies based on only their culture, and in
outmost cases their perception about other cultures. Political ideologies are the concepts that
ease the complex social world that we live in so that it can make more sense. The ideologies are
applied by means of offering what is named as an intellectual map, which helps people know their
positions in a society and help create a well organized state of a social landscape, targeting one
thing; an ideal society.
Regardless of any reviewed ideology, this paper discusses two of which have been so controversial;
Communism and Capitalism. In political and social, communism is a social, political, and economic
ideology and movement whose ultimate goal is the establishment of the communist, which is a
socioeconomic order structured upon the common ownership of the means of production and the
absence of social classes, money, and the state. However, Capitalism is defined as an economic
system based on private ownership of the means of production, and their operation for profit.
Capitalism centralized characteristics include private property, capital accumulation, wage labor,
voluntary exchange, a price system, and competitive markets.
Nevertheless, some questions remain unanswered

Myth Of Truth Analysis
Truth has always been a very vague and grey area for many people, it s something that cannot be
agreed on by every single person. Each person has their own set of past experiences that have built
upon their morals, values and ethics. This ties in with their overall idea of why they view truth and
lies in the way that do. Professor Hedrick is interesting in the way that she teaches literature through
the historical point of view, proving background information that enables students to build upon this
background knowledge and find the interpretation for that piece of literature. Much like our

Langston Hughes Poem Cubes
Langston Hughes poem Cubes concerns itself with the idea of young men bringing disease back
from France to Senegal. The layout of this poem is based on the French motto of libertГ©,
Г©galitГ©, fraternitГ© (or liberty, equality, fraternity) which is mentioned in the third stanza of
the poem. The first two stanzas of the poem refer to the lack of liberty for the people being
discussed. The second stanza then goes on to talk about the many ways equality is missing from the
lives of the Senegalese in France. Finally, the third stanza is about the fraternity that is present
when they return to Senegal. The poem shows that despite it being the French motto, these three
things are not present in their society. In fact, they are more present in Senegal. Liberty: freedom
from captivity, confinement, or physical restraint . In the first stanza, we hear about characters who
do not have liberty. They are not free from these things; instead, they are held back by them.

brotherhood/sisterhood felt between these people. He refers to a collective group of them as the

and the women who have remained there. However, this stanza also largely refers to the spread of
disease from the men who have been in France to the people who never left Senegal. While they
are sharing (which is a brotherly act in and of itself), they are sharing something from the French
that is wholly not something that is wanted. Though the men gained disease through negative

Influence Of Money In The Great Gatsby
There are a lot of people in the world who let money rule and change them. The movie The Great
Gatsby is a prime example of how money effect people lives. Money plays a part in each of their
lives. It may cause people to want what the next person got, be selfish, and be reckless, so it is
known for the root of all evil. In The Great Gatsbymovie, Jey Gatsby was the man who worked to
get to where he was in life. Then you have Mr. and Mrs. Myrtle who were not rich at all. Tom
Buchanon on the other hand, was born with a silver spoon. People like Tom looked down on
people like Gatsby , and Mr. and Mrs. Myrtle because the riches felt like if you were not born
rich, then you are considered poor. So it brings a lot of altercations to the table. Rich people feel
like they have their whole life to do whatever and whenever, while poor people have to think
about their next move. Tom is rich from old money, so he does what he wants, but Gatsby is
rich by new money but he is also able to do what he wants.Gatsby was able to throw parties just
like any other rich person, but then you have the Myrtle family who is not really able to do much
at all. That just goes to show how people are categorized by their background instead of what they
really have. For instance, in Beverly Hills, that is where rich people stay, so if someone wants to

only for the rich people that stay there. It was

expenses are $53,538, we need to eliminate the irrelevant, or unavoidable, costs when deciding
whether the Cup should continue. In this case, the irrelevant, unavoidable costs include Rivaldo s
salary allocated to the tournament ($6,300), the field rental cost for the week ($1,200), and the rent

First of all, the influx of people that come to the tournament are advantageous for the nearby
businesses. The economic advantages of the event would leave the town worse off than before.
Also, the experience and opportunities that the Cup provides to high school soccer players are too
crucial to ignore. By giving players a chance to gain recognition from college scouts and potentially
get a scholarship, the tournament allows them to achieve their goals of playing college soccer.
Another factor that must be discussed is the firing of the Renee Jansten. We do not know her
current financial situation and would like to avoid firing anyone if at all avoidable. Lastly, the
potential for future profits as the tournament gains more recognition and prestige should be enough
to make CYSL keep running the Craddock Cup annually.
4.Exhibit A shows the expected financial impact of adding 32 more teams to the schedule.
Revenues would increase to $85,680 (assuming while expenses would rise to $87,806. This leads
to a reported net income of $2,126. However, if we remove the irrelevant, unavoidable costs
($10,200), we get a relevant profit of $8,074. This is $1,572 more than the $6,502 relevant profit
expected from a 32 team tournament. It would therefore be in the greater interest of the CYSL to
host a 64 team Craddock Cup next year.
5.The profit margin for the 32 team tournament is 3.62% higher than the profit margin for the 64
team tournament.

Political Science And Its Influence On The Country s...
Introduction
Political Science teaches us about how political power is dispersed, how different governments
operate and interact, how rules are made and enforced. We will come to know both the who of
politics, such as international organizations, politicians, and the public, and the how , such as
political institutions, elections, and public administration. Politics have its essence in every aspect of
our lives, including the availability of education, jobs, housing and healthcare. Whatever
government does and whoever supports the government everything have its influence on the
country s current situation whether to be in war or in peace. Political science is the study of a
wide range of political knowledge, events, actions, and institutions. We all take part in politics,
though most of the time we do so unknowingly. Politics is not only about simply voting in an
election or working in government. When we read or listen to news, make donations to aid

Are Muslims Be Treated Different
Should Muslims be treated different?Today I will be writing about Muslims and how there is a
lot of social justice. I have many reasons why I chose this topic. Some of the reasons is because
people instantly see them as a threat aka isis and terrorism and are racist against them.Another
reason I chose this group/topic is because they re always getting discriminated in a racial way. So
there s always gonna be Racismin America, but one thing that I myself Jose Ocampo has noticed
and seen in videos and also news reports is that people are mostly racist against Muslims. Now I
have an example of people being racist against Muslims,He is a youtuber that goes by the name of
Adam Saleh. He is known for doing pranks on youtube and also social experiments about racism and
other stuff, but he was getting on the plane for his flight with his best friend Slim Albaher, they
started talking Arabic because he was on the phone with his mom. Once people heard that they were
talking Arabic they instantly got racist and reported them to the main flight office and they
eventually got kicked... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Life Accomplishments Of A Wild Elephant
On April 13, 1796, Barnum and Bailey Circus purchased a two year old female, Asian elephant for
one thousand dollars. This is the first of many elephants that were purchased for the two largest
circuses in America, Barnum and Bailey and Ringling Bros Circus. While today there are only
around sixty nine elephants that are still involved in the circusact, there was at one time
approximately three hundred and five. The U.S. Department of Agriculture oversees the Animal
Welfare Act (AWA) and does not distinguish between zoos and circuses. This implies that the main
goals of the zoos and circuses is the same, to use animals commercially and public exhibition.

Elephants can walk up to forty miles in the wild, but hardly get enough exercise to keep them
alive in circuses and zoos. They are forced to sleep and walk on concrete floors and are often on
train cars most of their life. This can cause arthritis, foot abscesses, and other foot and joint dangers.
The average lifespan of a wild elephant is anywhere from sixty to seventy years old. Because of
chronic health problems such as tuberculosis, arthritis, and foot abscesses, captive elephants are
lucky if they live forty years. The oldest captive elephant, Peaches, died at the age of fifty five in
2005 at the Lincoln Park Zoo. Furthermore, attempting the breed captive elephants has been highly
unsuccessful. Of the five elephants born in 2003, three of them died within the first twelve months.
Aside from humans, elephants have no natural enemies. When left alone, elephants are peaceful
creatures and not aggressive. Naturally, elephants do not stand on their hind legs or on their heads
or perform tricks you see at the circus. In order to make an animal perform an act they do not
understand, you must literally beat them into submission. This practices are demeaning, unnatural
and cause fear in the elephants. They are routinely beaten, shocked, abused, and chained for days at

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Term Insurance
Term Insurance What is it and what benefits it offers
Life insurance companies offer many types of insurance policies. A term policy is one among
many types of the policies, and it is the most traditional one.
What is Term Insurance?
Term insurance is a kind of life insurance that gives coverage for a specified time or a fixed term
of years. If the policyholder dies during the policy term, the sum insured is paid to the nominee. No
payout is made if the policyholder survives the insured term.
The Typical Nature of Term Insurance
The typical nature of term insurance is that there is no cash accumulation in the account, helping
keep the relatively low cost over other types of insurance covers. Term insurance is the cheapest
way to get a guaranteed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The insurance company undergoes an underwriting process. Once coverage approved, the term
policy will be in force as long as due premiums paid until the time the policy expires or the
unfortunate event happens.
Why opt for Term Insurance
Consider the following reasons for opting for term insurance.
Coverage for greater period
Since term insurance is inexpensive, it is possible to cover insurance for a greater time, say a 30
year period. For the same period, the premium for term policy will be lesser compared to the
premium of other types of policies. For example, a 30 year old can cover term policy, say for Rs.1
crore for a 30 year term with a relatively lesser premium amount, whereas an endowment policy for
Rs.1 crore will probably be out of his bounds on various counts.
Higher term insurance
Term plans can support higher amounts insurance plans. The higher your income is, the higher
amount plan you can opt. For example, if Rs.10 lakhs is your annual income, you can opt for Rs.1
crore term plans. With Term Insurance plans, a large amount of term cover comes at a small
premium. This premium varies from insurer to insurer. A term policy is much inexpensive than
other policies.

Lewin s Change Theory
Nurse as a change agent
You must be the change you wish to see in the world. Mahatma Ghandi
Overview
The theoretical foundations of change theory are robust: several theories now exist, many coming
from the disciplines of sociology, psychology, education, and organizational management. Kurt
Lewin (1890 1947) has been acknowledged as the father of social change theories and presents a
simple yet powerful model to begin the study of change theory and processes. He is also lauded as
the originator of social psychology, action research, as well as organizational development.
Lewin s change theory consists of three distinct and vital stages:

Big Bang And The Creation Of Energy And Matter
Big Bang Theory:
Explain what occurred during the Big Bang, including the creation of energy and matter:
The universe was created by the Big Bang. Just before the Big Bang, the universe was just
unbelievably hot and at a very dense point, it burst to expand space faster than light which was at
10 34of a second. The universe doubled in size at least 90 times from the dense point. But the
speed of the space spreading became to change to a slower rate still continuing at this time and day.
As space, expanded universe cooled itself down and matter formed. Another second after the Big
Bang neutrons, protons, electron, anti electron, photons and neutrinos came into existence. Light
elements were born from the process known as Big Bang ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Ernesis Quesnay Essay
To think that the world we live in today would be drastically different, if it was not for the
innumerable amount of philosophers and physiocrats who had contributed their minds and time to
various subjects. Ranging from Voltaire to John Locke, these fellow men and women have helped
excel our progress to a better future; One splendid example is a fellow French man by the name of
François Quesnay. François Quesnay, similar to other scholars of his time, believed there were
numerous flaws within society and how we the people, live our daily lives. Furthermore,
contributing as an economist and physiocrat, François Quesnay believed in various subjects such

displays Quesnay s system of political economy that was released in 1758. On the other hand,
through the works that François Quesnay had published, he had impacted and influenced his
beliefs such as his economic ideas and his physiocratic ideas. To begin with, in the contributions
he made to the EncyclopГ©die, he conveys that agriculture has the capability to generate a vast
amount of income for the nation when the setting is correctly set for operation; Francois Quesnay
further clarifies by stating that in order to generate a vast income via agriculture, the operation
must be helped by large scale enterprises that were backed up by abundant capital. Another great
example, Tableau Economique, a writing devised to portray his system of political economy as I
stated previously, however, it also illustrates the income that each and every economic class

Persuasive Essay On Xbox
I like to casually play games on my Xbox 360. I ve been thinking to upgrade my living with a
new device. What would be the best and the cheapest option? Should you get Xbox One,
PlayStation 4 or PC? At first, I was thinking to buy PlayStation but at the end, I decided to build
a custom gaming PC. I will list some of the benefits of PCs over consoles and the process to
build cheap PC for gaming, Hardware price Game consoles are cheap if you compare the price to
a high end gaming PC. The earning logic behind consoles is to make the profit from game
selling and sell the consoles with lost. The gaming PCs sold by manufacturers like Asus or Dell
are usually high end devices with a high price tag. To compete with console price you can build
a custom gaming PC with almost the same cost. Gaming PC cost can be cut even further by
using used parts from eBay and other sites. Game prices Consoles have their own ecosystems
and user is limited to buy games through official channels usually through manufacturers online
game store. PC games have multiple channels where users can buy games with more competitive
price. Most popular is Valves Steam Online store. Valve makes buying games on PC as easy as on

Essay on The Drowned and the Saved, by Primo Levi
In looking back upon his experience in Auschwitz, Primo Levi wrote in 1988: ?It is naГЇve, absurd,
and historically false to believe that an infernal system such as National Socialism (Nazism)
sanctifies its victims. On the contrary, it degrades them, it makes them resemble itself.? (Primo
Levi, The Drowned and the Saved, 40). The victims of National Socialism in Levi?s book are
clearly the JewishHaftlings. Survival in Auschwitz, a book written by Levi after he was liberated
from the camp, clearly makes a case that the majority of the Jews in the lager were stripped of their
human dignity. The Jewish prisoners not only went through a physical hell, but they were

for he who loses all often easily loses himself.? (Levi, 27).
The prisoners are further degraded because they simply do not have enough to eat. They become
very haggardly and often have difficulty in judging each other?s age. Acquisition of a sufficient
amount of food becomes a daily struggle, and for those who do not rise to the occasion
ultimately parish. After a certain time period, it is impossible to survive unless you become an
?Organisator, Kombinator, or a Prominent? (Levi, 89). Levi writes, ?We have learnt the value of
food; now we also diligently scrape the bottom of the bowl after the ration and we hold it under
our chins when we eat bread so as not to lose the crumbs? (Levi, 33). A prisoner could only
survive on a normal ration for around 3 months at best. Starving to death was not the main reason
to acquire an adequate amount of food. The selections had to be avoided. If a prisoner was too
weak to work, he was destined for the gas chambers.
In the book Levi mentions a man named Elias, who is a cunning thief and adept worker: ?? who
is this man Elias. If he is a madman, incomprehensible and para human, who ended up in the Lager
by chance. If he is a atavism, different from our modern world, and better adapted to the primordial

Anselm Kiefer Was A German Artist Who Was Born Directly...
Anselm Kiefer was a German artist who was born directly after World War II. The art that Kiefer
created focused on a reconciliation with the shame and horror surrounding the holocaust, aimed
aimed to redefine what it meant to be German in a post Nazi World (Smith). The piece I studied is
located at the MoMa in San Francisco and is entitled Shulamite . Shulamite is a historical paintingof
a Nazi Memorial Site, which Kiefer created it in 1983. In this painting, Kiefer transformed the
architecture of a site which was meant to honor Nazi heroes into a memorial for their victims.
Kiefer uses some very interesting aesthetic techniques to reflect the intense emotions of that time
and to reflect the rage, grief, and shame that Germans felt in response to the Holocaust. His intention
was to reconcile with the country s dark past through memorializing the persecuted while painting
the country as no longer representative of it s dark past.
The piece displays a cavernous interior with a series of dark arches that recede towards some
flickering flames. These huge bricks and arches make the hall resemble a sort of dungeon or a sort
of oven. The palette he used is limited to solely to shades of black, and brown. White paint is used
to outline the crevices and edges of the bricks. The windows are dark black, and the ceiling is
pitched black. The dimly lit piece seems to be an interior space solely lit by the series of small
flames, and these flames are placed at a

The role of women in the musical life of the 19th century.
Due: 4 October 2012
The 19th century was an era of change. There were lots of progression in technology, science, and
philosophy that gradually turned European society away from the past centuries. Women s status in
the 19th century Europe also changed. Many of the 19th century women were able to have a
profession as they received higher and wider education, and also allowed to have more
participation in society. In the musical life of 19th century Europe, numbers of women were able to

The style of Felix and Fanny was very similar, mainly because they studied with the same teacher,
and grew up in the same environment. Moreover, they often exchanged musical opinions, and
critiqued each other s music when they grew up. Many historians say that Fanny was inspired by
Felix, but some of their works show that they were inspired by each others. Between November
1839 to May 1840 Fanny was traveling in Italy. A year later she composed Il Saltarello romano, a
piano piece which was inspired by her traveling experience. However, it contains a rhythmic
pattern, and a motif which is reminiscent of the last movement of Felix s Italian Symphony,
composed in 1833. Therefore, it is possible that Fanny was also inspired by her brother s
symphony (Cooper amp; Prandi, 2002). On the other hand, Felix s Andante in G major Op.62
No.1 from Songs Without Words Book 5 composed in 1844 is very similar to Fanny s Andante in
G major Op.2 No.1 composed in 1836. These two Andante have very similar openings which
consisted of an anacrusis followed by a dominant seventh, then resolved down. Moreover, it is
obvious that Felix s Andante has a similar melodic structure to Fanny s. Even through the
Mendelssohn sibling s composition style were very similar, there are some characteristic in Fanny s
composition which are different from her brother s.
Fanny s style of composition is considered not as expressive as Felix s, but it is much

The legislation was repealed in 1999 when key players from the financial arena urged Congress to
pass the Gramm Leach Bliley Act to reverse Glass Steagall s restrictions on bank securities (Heakal,
2003).
Financial Reform Today
Dodd Frank is the latest financial reform passed by Congress, and by far the most extensive.
According to Amadeo, Dodd Frank is the most comprehensive reform since the Glass Steagall Act
of 1933 (2012, para.1). The goals of Dodd Frank are to implement consumer protections, end
bailouts with tax payer money, create a council to identify risks, eliminate loopholes for risky
behavior, implement say on pay for executives, protect investors, and enforce strict regulations on
Wall Street (House of Representatives, n.d.). Dodd Frank lacks clarity and is lengthy, running over
1,000 pages long (New York, 2012). In many cases, Dodd Frank does not contain explicit rules, but
instead creates an outline whereby financial oversight agencies have been charged with conducting
research and writing and implementing the rules.
Who Are the Agencies Responsible for Implementing Dodd Frank? Prior to the financial crisis, the
overall responsibility for financial oversight was divided among several different agencies. These
agencies and their varying rules and standards led to certain entities not being regulated at all, with
others subject to less oversight than their peer

Treatment Of Veterans With Suds And Co Occurring...
The VA runs the largest substance use disorder treatment program in the world. Treatment of
veterans with SUDs and co occurring psychiatric disorders is one of the following three paradigms;
parallel, sequential, and integrated. Most VA programs are parallel, where the patient receives
treatment for SUD in one program and treatment for PTSDin another. Many SUD PTSD veterans
may be unable to navigate the separate systems or make sense of the disparate messages about
PTSD treatment and recovery. One challenge to dissemination and implementation of EBTs is that
of dual disorders, particularly SUD and PTSD. These patients use costly inpatient services, tend to
have frequent relapses, and are less likely to adhere to or complete treatment.
Cook, Walser, Kane, and Woody (2006) did a study that had a goal of getting clinicians to accept
Seeking Safety and evaluate its efficacy when treating veterans, in hopes of bridging the gap of
parallel services at the VA to treat comorbid SUD PTSD. This study reinforced the old ways of
cannot teach an old dog new tricks because of how difficult it is to influence clinician behavior in
routine medical care. A more passive approach was taken via a daylong interactive staff training in
Seeking Safety, where clinicians were informally surveyed on their willingness to co lead groups
with the study. Four therapists volunteered. And thus, four Seeking Safety groups were formed
with 25 veteran volunteers whom had comorbid SUD PTSD. Of those, 18

  • 2. Comparing The Diving Bell And The Butterfly The Diving Bell and the Butterfly is a movie presenting the life of Jean Dominique Bauby, a gentleman who suffered a severe stroke, which caused him to endure a peculiar disorder called locked in syndrome. The symptoms of this render him paralyzed from head to toe, without the ability to speak. In the opening of the movie, Bauby is unaware that he cannot speak because he shows confusion when no one is responding to what he is saying. The only consistent, physical movement that he has is the ability to move his one functioning eye, and blink his eyelid open and shut. In order for Bauby to communicate, the speech therapist has instructed him to blink once to indicate yes and twice to indicate no . Locked in syndrome is a neurological disorder that leaves the patient aware or their surroundings, memories, and language, but due to the loss of voluntary movements, speech is lost (Adaes, 2015). Bauby displays all of these symptoms, explaining that he only thing that keeps him sane is his ability to escape through his imagination and memories... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In order for Jean Bauby to communicate, she would recite him the most commonly used letters in order repeatedly, having him blink once she reached the letter he desired to communicate. This allowed him to spell out words and eventually sentences in order to have a form of communication with the people he interacted with. At the beginning of his treatment, this was very frustrating for him and he lost hope until he finally decided to stop pitying himself. Other forms of treatment were with his physiotherapist, Marie, who was teaching him how to swallow. For example, when she was trying to have him move his tongue from the front of his mouth to his palate, this will improve his ability to gain use of his tongue again and eventually lead to him being able to swallow (Amalric, ... • 3. A Comparison Of Everything Will Be Okay And Stray Most people from an early age have a dream; often people give up on them and most of the time around middle school or late elementary school. It is the prime time where everyone gets discouraged by bullying and the realization that life is tough that dawns in the child s mind around this time. The discouraging factor could also be due to an unsupportive family, which is shown primarily by the short stories Everything Will Be Okay by James Howe and Stray by Cynthia Rylant. The main characters in each story have a conflict over a desire. In Everything Will Be Okay Our main character loses the argument in the end and the kitten he desperately wanted to keep the cat, but he learns the invaluable lesson not to give up on your dreams.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Doris Turned around. What? I said, you had better feed your dog. This clearly shows she has won the argument about keeping the dog. Her father would never say it if the dog was at the pound. Doris did not give up and won the argument and she never gave up on the dog. Thus clearly shows that it is worth it to keep pushing on even if the first response is negative. To continue on, In both stories the main characters have a enemy as far as keeping their respective pets. Their own families, in fact. The driving force in both of these stories is the characters in the story having to fight for their case. We know in Everything Will Be Okay the main reason the family will not keep the kitten is its health. The cat would be expensive to fix. We know this is the main reason from the quote, Well, she happens to be right, Paul tells me. With an animal that far gone, you do not have a choice. It has to be put to sleep. With an animal that far gone, he means it is deathly sick. If it the main reason against the cat was the family just does not like animals or someone in the house has an allergy, he would have mentioned it. In stray, the family is poor, but the dog is in relatively good condition, certainly better than the kitten in Everything Will Be Okay. They reason the parents would not keep the dog was it would be expensive to own and care for. They would need to buy food, a dog bowl, a bed, a leash and all the other essential items every dog owner would need ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. Examples Of Beauty In Dancer From The Dance In the novel Dancer from the Dance the author uses beauty and aesthetics in many different ways. The author uses beauty and aesthetics in ways such as, the night life in the city, the relationships between the characters in Dancer from the Dance, the clothing that the character s wear, and the way each character looks. The characters in Dancer from the Dance feel like themselves when they are able to dress, act, and go places where they won t be judged by others. The author shows the reader that during the day the characters have to hide who they really are so that they won t be judged by society, but at night the characters are free to do what they want and won t be judged for it because they will be with others like themselves. The characters do the things that they do because that is who they are, and there is beauty in those things. What Is The Main Point Of The Return Of Martin Guerre The Return of Martin Guerre by Natalie Davis a return that some may say focuses a little too much on the touch of the and skewers into a romance and that would be the perspective of Robert Finlay. Although Finlay does bring up some very key and valid points about The Return of Martin Guerre but I do feel that Davis over all in both of her argument best describes what would happen. Starters Davis is right in saying that Bertrande knew that the 1st Martin that arrived was not her husband. When she saw him she, however she recoiled in surprise. Even that proverb is not uniquely pertinent, for, in the conditions of sexual intercourse in peasant households of preindustrial Europe the couple clothed, in the darkened house, amid the cold and dirt, surrounded by livestock and relatives any wife of Artigat might equally well have regarded her bedmate with the jaded perspective expressed in the notorious masculine slur, De nuit tous chats son gris. (Robert Finlay pg559) I have a difficult time with some of this because if this where all to be true which I m sure he is exaggerating a little bit I bet a donkey wasn t sharing the bet with them. I do bet they probably had dirt floors and it probably was a little cold but that doesn t exclude her from knowing that he was not her husband because every person is different granted she hasn t been with her real husband in a very long time but I m pretty sure she would know the touch of a man. I am for sure going to have to agree with Davis on this you get older but your connection as husband and wife doesn t change that s what I think Davis is really trying to point out in the book is that as husband and wife even if it where only a few times together they would still remember those the rest of there lives. • 11. Anatomy of a Hipster Essay Over time, social group labels tend to mutate from their original interpretation, due to societal evolution. The hipster is no exception, as it originally referred to 1940s Bebop Jazz enthusiasts. Hipsters has since become the term referencing pretentious rich kids, attempting to recreate a sense of underground ness; whether it be music or style related. However, hipsters of today differ from the former in the sense that their actions are fueled solely by effort, rather than sheer interest of being outlandish and chic concurrently with music and style. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Musically speaking, there is no definite hipster band. Indie kids will always be identified with Death Cab6, while the hipster will try to claim The Postal Service7 as their melodic saviors. Once again, a rip off. Anything offbeat or mildly controversial is loved by the hipster YACHT8, the Shins9, The Strokes any band, regardless of style that is lesser known. When it comes to music, hipsters also love to claim that they liked a particular band before they sold out or before they gave in to the Man. However, it presents another irony, as the excessive amounts of hipsters actually buying their music is what contributed to a band selling out. If Owl City has any B Sides out there, a hipster has them and won t feel like sharing them anytime soon, even if they did find it on Mediafire10. The most distinguishing feature of the hipster lies in their personalities. They can point out a fellow hipster quick and concise; while drowning in denial should the label be imposed on them. Whereas Pakistan has repeatedly termed this the core issue in its relationship with India, India has maintained that this matter was settled with Kashmir s accession to India in October 1947. As far as India has been concerned, therefore, the only issue for discussion has been what India regards as Pakistan s continuing illegal occupation of part of Jammu and Kashmir, an occupation that began in 1947В–48, during the war between the two. Life imprisonment is any sentence for serious crimes that insures the offender spends life equivalency in prison or at least until parole. In a lot of cases when an offender is sentenced to life in prison they don t get the advantage of parole. No one ever sentenced to life without parole has ever been released, they spend the rest of their lives in prison and they usually die of natural causes (Wilbur, 2012). The advantages of life imprisonment are few but worth looking over, for example it saves an abundant amount of money. It costs tax payers $90,000 more per prisoner each year for inmates on death row then they pay for the general prison population. Also it saves many innocent lives of those who were wrongly accused. More than 200 innocent men and women have been freed from prison in California after it was discovered that they were wrongfully convicted; three of them were sentenced to die for crimes they did not commit ( The Truth, n.d.). The disadvantages of spending life in prison are serious and dangerous. Prisons all over the country are becoming very overpopulated, causing less aid for each inmate. Currently, many businesses are looking toward engagement, which measures satisfaction, commitment, and also energy and enthusiasm. How a person feels about the work they do everyday has the greatest impact on engagement since they want to feel valued and be recognized for their efforts. Satisfied employees are not necessarily engaged. Engaged employees have an emotional connection to the organization, believe they are contributing, and are growing both individually and professionally and put forth additional effort to complete tasks. That being said, recent studies suggest employers should switch their focus from employee satisfaction to employee engagement scores since it is a better indicator for retention of talent, satisfaction in culture and branding, and stakeholder value. Throughout the years there have been many theorists trying to master the acquisition of human language and demonstrate the theory of how language is developed in early years of life. This is a question people, including myself often think about. Using two theorists, Burrhus Fredrick Skinner (1904 1990) and Avram Noam Chomsky(1928 present) we will explore the two theories they studied in their lifetime and dedicate their life to, and contrast the two theories of language development, exploring the Behaviorist Theory, studied by Skinner and the Nativist Theory, studied by Chomsky. These two theories of language development differ greatly from each other. Both Skinner and Chomsky believed strongly in their theory. The first difference in the development of their theories lies greatly in both of their occupations. Skinner was a psychologist and Chomsky was a linguist. Skinner believed in the psychological side of language development and believed that children learn to acquire language by using taught responses where he used his reinforcement theory and believed it had nothing to do with any mental processes or devices in the brain that develop language. The first half could practically be construed as one long first line, since all four serve the same general purpose that is, to subtly set the beginning tone while creating an adequate contrast with the last four lines of the poem. They seem to focus mainly on providing an accurate picture of the situation around the speaker, and are structurally more complex, providing a more straightforward description than the last four lines. Each line becomes progressively longer than the next, and the words Whitman chooses are rather flat and all quite literal in their meanings. This first half seems to be a forthright narrative describing his experience in the lecture hall. But delicate hints in the text itself insinuate his attitude toward the lecture and audience. Communism And Capitalism And Communism Essay Introduction: Political Science has left its scholar an extremely wide ocean, filled with endless studies and undone debates about Political Sciences theories. All through the past ages, political scientists have rose from diverse cultures, examining their ideologies based on only their culture, and in outmost cases their perception about other cultures. Political ideologies are the concepts that ease the complex social world that we live in so that it can make more sense. The ideologies are applied by means of offering what is named as an intellectual map, which helps people know their positions in a society and help create a well organized state of a social landscape, targeting one thing; an ideal society. Regardless of any reviewed ideology, this paper discusses two of which have been so controversial; Communism and Capitalism. In political and social, communism is a social, political, and economic ideology and movement whose ultimate goal is the establishment of the communist, which is a socioeconomic order structured upon the common ownership of the means of production and the absence of social classes, money, and the state. Although it looks as though the Cup is incurring a loss, we need to analyze the relevant and irrelevant costs to truly determine the financial impact of discontinuing the cup. Although total expenses are $53,538, we need to eliminate the irrelevant, or unavoidable, costs when deciding whether the Cup should continue. In this case, the irrelevant, unavoidable costs include Rivaldo s salary allocated to the tournament ($6,300), the field rental cost for the week ($1,200), and the rent /utilities expense for the Cup ($2,700). When these costs are added, we get $10,200 in sunk costs that cannot be avoided regardless of the continuation of the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... First of all, the influx of people that come to the tournament are advantageous for the nearby businesses. The economic advantages of the event would leave the town worse off than before. Also, the experience and opportunities that the Cup provides to high school soccer players are too crucial to ignore. By giving players a chance to gain recognition from college scouts and potentially get a scholarship, the tournament allows them to achieve their goals of playing college soccer. Another factor that must be discussed is the firing of the Renee Jansten. We do not know her current financial situation and would like to avoid firing anyone if at all avoidable. Lastly, the potential for future profits as the tournament gains more recognition and prestige should be enough to make CYSL keep running the Craddock Cup annually. 4.Exhibit A shows the expected financial impact of adding 32 more teams to the schedule. Revenues would increase to $85,680 (assuming while expenses would rise to $87,806. This leads to a reported net income of $2,126. However, if we remove the irrelevant, unavoidable costs ($10,200), we get a relevant profit of $8,074. This is $1,572 more than the $6,502 relevant profit expected from a 32 team tournament. It would therefore be in the greater interest of the CYSL to host a 64 team Craddock Cup next year. 5.The profit margin for the 32 team tournament is 3.62% higher than the profit margin for the 64 team tournament. ... The piece I studied is located at the MoMa in San Francisco and is entitled Shulamite . Shulamite is a historical paintingof a Nazi Memorial Site, which Kiefer created it in 1983. In this painting, Kiefer transformed the architecture of a site which was meant to honor Nazi heroes into a memorial for their victims. Kiefer uses some very interesting aesthetic techniques to reflect the intense emotions of that time and to reflect the rage, grief, and shame that Germans felt in response to the Holocaust. His intention was to reconcile with the country s dark past through memorializing the persecuted while painting the country as no longer representative of it s dark past. The piece displays a cavernous interior with a series of dark arches that recede towards some flickering flames. These huge bricks and arches make the hall resemble a sort of dungeon or a sort of oven. The palette he used is limited to solely to shades of black, and brown. Treatment of veterans with SUDs and co occurring psychiatric disorders is one of the following three paradigms; parallel, sequential, and integrated. Many SUD PTSD veterans may be unable to navigate the separate systems or make sense of the disparate messages about PTSD treatment and recovery. One challenge to dissemination and implementation of EBTs is that of dual disorders, particularly SUD and PTSD. These patients use costly inpatient services, tend to have frequent relapses, and are less likely to adhere to or complete treatment. Cook, Walser, Kane, and Woody (2006) did a study that had a goal of getting clinicians to accept Seeking Safety and evaluate its efficacy when treating veterans, in hopes of bridging the gap of parallel services at the VA to treat comorbid SUD PTSD.
