Daisy s Love Triangle In The Great Gatsby
The anger spreads like wildfire readers of F. Scott Fitzgerald s novel The Great Gatsby see that
Daisy Buchanan is going to stay with her cheating husband Tom Buchanan instead of leaving him
for Jay Gatsby. Where meeting Gatsby for the first time in many years, Daisy experiences what
seems to be a closer connection with Gatsby. A love triangle is then created between the three
which leads to an extraordinary argument between both Tom and Gatsby fighting over Daisy and
later leading to the death of Gatsby himself. Although many say Daisy should have not ended up
with Tom and Gatsby arguing that Daisy never loved Tom, she truly stayed with Tom due to him
gaining his wealth from old money and the impact society would have on her if she left... Show

With this Daisy see s that Tom will always have his wealth to support her whenever it is needed.
To respond to the arguments Gatsby made, Tom first argues that Daisy Doesn t know what she s
doing (pg 138). This argument made by Tom is important in his argument since saying that
about Daisy is almost a snap back into reality for Daisy. By her hearing what Tom said, Daisy is
able to realized that maybe she really does not know what she is doing by having any thoughts
about leaving for Gatsby while she is married to Tom. After that being said, Tom goes on to
expose Gatsby and his past secret life and how I picked him for a bootlegger the first time I saw
him, and I wasn t far wrong (pg 140). This argument made by Tom is his attempt to show how
people whose wealth is new money, which is what Gatsby qualifies under due to him earning his
money through the new bootlegging business, is not as respected as his own wealth coming
from old money, which is what Tom qualifies under since he was borned and raised in a wealthy
family and has always had a source of wealth to live off from. By Tom showing Daisy the bad
connotation Gatsby s wealth contains, he would want Daisy to realize how she is both better and
safer off with Tom who is wealthy with old money and will always be wealthy rather than Gatsby
who earned his wealth in a shady way and might not always have a wealthy

Roetter Anticipated About Diversity Case Study
Twitter Not Twitterpated About Diversity
There are no black engineers in leadership positions at Twitter. There was, but Engineering
Manager Leslie Miley, formerly the only black engineer in a leadership position at Twitter, has
left the company. According to Tech Crunch, the reason for his departure has everything to do
with the way Twitter is addressing diversity and inclusion. Miley passed on his severance package
because if he accepted it he would have had to agree to keep some things to himself. He now has
the freedom to speak out about his experiences at the company.
Some of the things that made Miley uncomfortable was the sense that blacks were not looked at
with the same respect as others. There was no expectation that, as a people, they could earn
positions of leadership. He recalls being in a leadership meeting with Twitter s senior vice president
of engineering, Alex Roetter, and asking what Twitter was doing to increase diversity. He
remembers being told that Diversity is important, but we won t lower the bar. ... Show more content

Roetter was not interested in digging deep, he wanted Miley to base the ethnicity study on people s

Robert Rodriguez Research Paper
Director, Robert Rodriguez grew up in Texas. Initially rejected from film school, Rodriguez taught
himself the basic directing and editing skills before he attended a film program. Rodriguez began
by making short films, which often featured some of his nine siblings. He won several awards for
his efforts and was eventually accepted into the filmprogram at the University of Texas at Austin.
His first feature, El Mariachi, showed his talents as a filmmaker and helped him to land a deal
with Columbia Pictures. His later films include From Dusk to Dawn (1996), Spy Kids (2001) and
Sin City (2005)
He made his first feature film El Mariachi (1993) with only $7,000. He got some of the money for

Despite the interesting 3 D effects, this movie didn t really register with theatre goers or with critics.
Despite the occasional box office disappointment, Rodriguez has become one of the most
respected Latino filmmakers working today. Another interesting project for Rodriguez has been
Grind House, a double feature with Quentin Tarantino in 2007, done in the style of the B movies
of the 1970s. Rodriguez s film, Planet Terror, was released the same year. Tarantino s part of the
double feature is called Death Proof and features Kurt Russell as crazed stuntman using his vehicle
as a weapon.
In 2010, Rodriguez directed the film Machete, featuring his cousin Danny Trejo as the main
protagonist. The film was inspired by a fake trailer forGrindhouse which featured Trejo. The
process of working backwards from a trailer to a film proved to be a success for Rodriguez, with
the film making more than $26 million. Shortly after its release, Rodriguez began working on the
script for the 2013 sequel, Machete

terrorist threat to commercial sector Essay
How real do you think the terrorist threat is to the commercial sector? Explain and justify your
opinion
In my opinion the terrorist threat to the commercial sector is a very real one which should not be
overlooked. The commercial sector within the UK consists of a multitude of different industries
that as a whole make up the UK economy, each industry conducts its business and trade by relying
on the other to fulfill its supply and demand which is turn provides consumer confidence, that in
itself is what the economy is based on which makes it susceptible and vulnerable whenever there is
disruption to a sector
So what is the definition of terrorism, they are many varied descriptions and ideas of what people

profound destruction of assets that was calculated in national accounts to amass to $14billion, state
and federal government enterprises suffered a loss in the region of $2billion, what was also
astounding to read was that the rescue and clean up costs totaled to an amount of at least $11billion.
The OECD report also explains how as a result of the attacks on both the US and UK, both
counties have become more vigilant by increasing their border controls. This has slowed down
the rate of supply at which goods are able to flow between countries and increased costs.
Increased security checks at air, rail and seaports have seen delays for passengers and may impact
the tourist industry as it impinges on travel plans. Many companies now choose to use video
conferencing instead. The OECD goes on to explain that government spending policies have also
shifted with more money now being spent on defense and security.

Personal Narrative-It s Time To Fall In High School
Fall is wonderful, now. It wasn t always my favorite season. Fall marks the beginning of the
school year, and what kid likes going back to school after spending long summer days out playing
with their friends and causing trouble around the neighborhood. That s not a hundred percent
accurate, I was a good kid, and I rarely caused trouble, but summerdid mean I had a certain level of
freedom. I could stay up all night, and sleep all day, because I didn t have anywhere to be the next
day.
Fall is a season I grew to appreciate, and as I grow older I fall more and more in love with the
season. The colors, the holidays, the changes, the food, the clothes, the boots everything about fall
is like magic to me.

For me it s the spirit that comes with the sport, the ribbing and the teasing, not necessarily the
game itself. I think it s interesting to be around like minded people who get so involved in a
team that the team s win or loss becomes almost personal to them. I love the energy and the
excitement of the game. The winning or losing doesn t matter to me, I m not the one being paid
millions of dollars to play the game. It s a fun sport to watch, but I don t take my love for the sport
to an extreme. Still, there is nothing like going to an actual game, rooting for your team, and then
watching them win.
Traveling. When I was working full time, I had to plan my vacations around business levels, and
that meant I could not take vacations during the summer months. I favored taking my vacations
during the fall months with an occasional spring trip. School starts in the fall. With kids back in
school, less people travel. I get some of my best travel discounts and deals during the fall, and I
have the opportunity to explore cities at their least crowded

Cultural Prejudice In Canada
Prejudice comes in different shapes and sizes, so treatment of culture minorities differed with the
circumstances.
The culture, language, and opinions of the French population were widely disregarded by the
English speakers of Canada. This discrimination stemmed from the rivalry between the mother
countries France and England that transferred over to the colonies of Canada. Anything the one had,
the other wanted, so be it that the French and English s positions switched, the resulting
discrimination would be the same. However, be it with Britain in control, the English tried to use
the influence of their power to the best of their ability. The English felt the opposite forced their
culture and language on to them, so they thought it fair ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

A Research Study On Celeste Kidd s The Marshmallow Challenge
Many psychologists have studied and used Mischel s experiment and examples in their own
works. In a recent study, Celeste Kidd conducted one such experiment; in The Marshmallow
Challenge Kidd had twenty eight children take part in an exercise involving art. She gave the
children two different choices throughout the project. The first choice she gave them was to use
old worn down crayons now or wait for a new box of crayons. The second was one small sticker
now or wait for a better set of stickers. She divided the children into different groups. One of the
groups was the reliable group which was the children that waited patiently, and the other group was
the unreliable group which was the children who couldn t wait for the new supplies.... Show more

In the researcher s opinion, this could be as much about the long term effects of having an
unreliable world view as it is about a lack of self control (Kidd 871). So it is obviously extremely
important for children to be raised in a trustworthy, dependable environment in order to learn self
control and to be able to use their willpower to self regulate.
In December 2011 Suleyman Avci conducted a study on 508 first grade students to learn the
relationship between self regulation and the delay of gratification in doing well in academics. Most
people are aware the more time they put into something the better the results will turn out and the
bigger the reward will be. This theory applies to almost anything including academics. The more
one studies the better they will do on a test however, not all students understand this, which explains
why some students are more stressed than others. In order to perform well in school students need
to set goals for the future and not get distracted by things in the present, like watching television or
playing video games, instead of studying for a test. I am completely aware of this; nevertheless, it is
still hard to do because my hot system wants the instant gratification of doing something fun rather
than homework. Future success is hindered by the need for instant gratification. Students who
achieve higher levels of academic success are those who realize academic rewards are more
important than temporary satisfaction. Those

442nd Regimental Combat Team Analysis
The United States Army s 442nd Regimental Combat Team was comprised of Americans of
Japanese ancestry (Nisei) who fought courageously during World War II against Hitler s Third
Reich in Italy and France. Its members sustained heavy fatalities but earned recognition, battle
honors and medals of valor. Commanders considered them intelligent, conscientious, loyal, and
anxious to prove their devotion to their country ( 442nd Regimental Combat Team. the 442.org,
2015). Interestingly, the 442nd was organized after more than a year after the U.S. War

Authority internment camps where 110,000 Japanese Americans and Japanese aliens were

The Takata Corporation Case
The Takada family founded Takata Corporation in 1933. Originally the firm manufactured
parachute static lines as well as other textiles. In the 60s Takata began to shift towards the
automobile safety industry by selling seat belts to car manufacturers. The corporation supplied the
first Japanese car manufacturer to have seat belts as part of the vehicle s standard design. Takata
found success in the new industry, which led the firm to expand into airbags as well as child safety
restraint systems. With its strategic decision to enter the automobile safety industry Takata was
reaping the benefits. The firm commanded a major portion of the airbagmarket, eventually
becoming one of the top three airbag manufacturers in the automotive industry. However, despite
the company s early contributions to automobile safety, recent events have tarnished the firm s
reputation. Takata has continually failed to address and correct a potentially fatal malfunction
within in its airbag design. Decisions, driven by a desire to reduce production costs, have forced the
company to abandon its corporate social responsibility, harming various stakeholders in the process.
It is unfortunate that the once respected firm has irreparably damaged its image. In an industry
where defects and mistakes by manufacturers can potentially kill consumers, public trust in the firm
is immensely important. Consumers need to know that a firm is committed to creating not only
economic value, but societal and

Reversely, the listed issues can be used to improve the risk control. The risk of unconsciously
selling the wrong product to customers is strongly related to the risk of wrong or incomplete
information for customers. On the one hand, salesmen do not receive clear instructions or are
not properly informed about the products they sell. On the other hand, customers failed to
double check policies they take out. This is due to misleading of salesmen, regardless whether
unconsciously or not; individual sales material, which ought to be replaced by official display
material of RA; and the total trust into salesmen. This risk is hard to control since it would
indirectly suppose that RA s salesmen are not trustworthy. The impact of occurrence is rather low
and its likelihood is medium. RA was dedicated to selling the right product, to the right client, in
the right way (p.1. case RA Insurance Company). In addition, RA assures its customers of

Mentoring In The Classroom
III.Mentoring Life is a continuous learning experience, so even those who are knowledgeable
still need someone to act as their mentors. As we continue to seek for knowledge, we become
more efficient in our chosen field or career path. Just like being a teacher, it is like a
rollercoaster ride of a colorful experience. In times when a teacher is on top, he feels like he
doesn t need anyone but when he s at the bottom, he will seek for an experienced teacher to
motivate him and bring back the momentum to him. However, no matter if you are on top or the
bottom, a teacher should always look up to someone for professional learning. Mentoring is a
teacher to motivational teacher scenario that is an effective technique for obtaining professional
development. The objectives of this strategy are to assist new teachers most especially as they
begin their career as educators and to hone the leadership ability of mentors. By using this strategy,
the expected results would be the enhancement of quality learning while developing teachers
knowledge; establishing professional learning communities and honing leadership ability within the
school. The key elements mentioned in the book were concrete and clear. First, mentors possess...

The Grand Canyon, A Landscape Made From Mixed Media
The Grand Canyon, one of the United States most popular tourist attractions. The canyon has
drawn various people to it, including artists who depict its beauty in multiple forms. Throughout
this report, I will be discussing and critiquing Rose Eagers Grand Canyon, a landscape made from
mixed media. While reviewing this piece of art at the Carnegie Art Center located in Turlock, CA; I
learned a lot about the content.
Rose Eager, in her later years was a victim of macular degeneration, a horrific disease of the eye
that slowly changes the way we see. Macular Degeneration recently diminished my ability to see
color and depth, so I started a new series of work using achromatic neutrals, black, white, and grey
over invented textural relief ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Eager has multiple aspects of her image that strongly support a formalist viewpoint. Her artwork
has definite structural aspects that have a greater meaning then you originally think. To break
down the image in even more depth, when you first glance at the image, the first area that your
eye is drawn to is the tree, more specifically the tree branches. These branches are extremely
textured, giving them almost a true bark like appearance. The leaves on the upper left corner of
the piece look like they are almost protruding off of the rest of the image.
The form of this image also adds to its components of formal analysis. Form is based on color,
composition, texture and line. This image by Eager has all of these major elements. The
composition is constructed with purpose, to show the flow and depth growing throughout the
image. There are multiple lines in this art piece, the first can be seen through the top of the work,
it goes through the tops of the trees and atop the mountain peaks. Then, there are implied lines,
one can be seen between the mountain peaks coming towards the tree, or vice versa. The color
scheme again follows her depiction of living with Macular Degeneration, she lost the ability to
see colors, and in her image, she only used shades of greys and black. In order to combat the depth,
she was losing

other people are human beings the same way we are. We idealize them as gods or dismiss them

emptiness and something being unrealistic. The paper towns are fake towns that have no real

Strategic Piece Of Middle East Peace
Strategic Piece to Middle East Peace Over the past thousand years, Oman has occupied a key
strategic space in the Middle East stratum. With its vast mountain ranges, desert terrain, and steep
cliffs along the coast, Oman over the years has proven to be very difficult to invade. This has
allowed Oman to repel the majority of attacks from foreign militaries and maintain their

Hong Kong, By Wong Kar Wai
Hong Kong occupies a unique place in history; it exists as a city with an expiration date. In his
films, Wong Kar wai is known for exploring the idea of deja desparu the already disappeared. In
the Mood for Love was his first film following the 1997 transition, when the city changed from
being a colony of Great Britain to the Special Administrative Region of China. The film explores
the post 1997 mood and experiences a true sense of nostalgia, not for the past, but for that which
could have been. The film follows Mrs. Chan and Mr. Chow as they come to realize that their
spouses are having an affair. In an attempt to process, the two attempt to act out how they imagine
the affair must have unfolded. Although feelings start to develop between the two of them, they
keep their relationship platonic not wanting to stoop to the level of their cheating spouses.
Additionally, they must navigate their neighbors prying and judgmental eyes. The film, hauntingly
beautiful as it is, is an allegory for Hong Kongs national history and its relationship with Britain
and China in an attempt to answer the question what will happen to Hong Kong come 2047.
Different characters in the film represent different countries as the film follows Mrs. Chan and Mr.
Chow who together represent Hong Kong attempt to navigate the complex world and figure out
where they belong. Mrs. Chan and Mr. Chow represent the city of Hong Kong as they struggle to
figure out who they are and where the fit in their

Character Dilemmas In Ariadne Oliver s Ten Little Niggers
The crime novelist Ariadne Oliver attends to a lunch meeting with other writers and fans. At this
meeting, she is confronted by a woman unknown to her. The woman is asking questions about
the deaths of Mrs. Olivers friends, a seemingly happily married couple. Seeing that Ariadne both
was a close friend of the two and a crime novelist, the woman figures that Mrs. Oliver could find
out if there s something worth knowing about their deaths. At first Mrs. Oliver is reluctant; She
writes crime stories, why would she know anything about mysteries in real life? But at the same
time she s curious to know the truth about the seemingly odd deaths. She decides to pay a visit to a
friend of her, Hercule Poirot, a well known detective. Together they decide to investigate the matter
further and as the story progresses you get the feeling that there is an underlying reason for the
womans concerns. I would say. that the moral of this story is that things aren t always as they seem
and just because something is generally accepted as true, doesn t mean it must be true.

Designing A 3d Model Of 3d
III.IS IT POSSIBLE TO VISUALIZE 4D?
Some believe that it is impossible for us to visualize 4D, since we are confined to 3D and therefore
cannot directly experience it. However, it is possible to develop a good idea of what 4D objects
look like: the key lies in the fact that to see N dimensions, one only needs an (N 1) dimensional
retina.
Even though we are 3D beings who live in a 3D world, our eyes actually only see in 2D. Our retina
has only a 2D surface area with which it can detect light coming into our eye. What our eye sees is
in fact not 3D, but a 2D projection of the 3D world we are looking at. Figure III : Projection of 2D
image
In spite of this, we are quite able to grasp the concept of 3D. Our mind is quite facile at re
constructing a 3D model of the world around us from the 2D images seen by our retina. It does
this by using indirect information in the 2D images such as light and shade, parallax, and previous
experience. Even though our retina doesn t actually see 3D depth, we instinctively infer it. We
have a very good intuitive grasp of what 3D is, to the point that we are normally quite unconscious
of the fact we re only seeing in 2D.
Similarly, a hypothetical 4D being would have a 3D retina, and would see the 4D world as 3D
projections. Figure IV: Projection of 3D image
It would not directly see the 4th dimension, but would infer it using indirect information such as
light and shade, parallax, and previous experience.
The key here is that what the 4D

Ancient Greece Festivals
In Ancient Greece, women were allowed to take part in nearly all religious festivals, and there
were even some restricted to only women. Thesmophoria, a great festival, is of significance as it
is a festival which celebrates a fertility rite for Demeter. Married noblewomen are the only people
who can observe and celebrate this festival. The basis of this celebration was women preforming
rites and celebrating on Demeter s hilltop sanctuary for three days. Sadly, there is little evidence
of specific rituals, there is evidence that pigs were sacrificed and buried, and the remains of the
pigs sacrificed from the previous year were then offered to the goddess. In general, most festivals
in Ancient Greece were to praise and honour Demeter, a selected few honoured other goddesses.
Other festivals such as, Brauronia and Arrheporia are also included, which are rites of passage in
which girls became women. The festivals that women were allowed to partake, or led, were
generally about a girl s development into adulthood, or celebrating their womanhood.
The Cult of Athena was an integral part of society on Ancient Greece. In addition to this, women
played a vital role in the cult. Athena as a priesthood figure was of great importance, and she used
her power to influence political positions. Lesser Panathenaea is the most significantly festival

Rise Of Crime In America
The rise of crime in America seems like it is getting worse each and every year. To say that crime
only exist in the hood is an understatement. Crime is happening everywhere in our poverty
neighborhoods, even in the wealthiest neighborhoods crime is happening. You have different types
of crime weather it is murders, shoplifting, robberies it happens. Rising murders and homicides in
cities deserve attention now before it s too late and it s one of our loved ones.
Chicago getting the troops sent to help with the crime cases is a good idea. I do think that there can
be other ways that can lighten some of the violence in Chicago is by making stricter gun laws. I
think when a person that is dangerous get a hold of a weapon, that is not good and they should be
the biggest targeted people. I think that if people in Chicago do purchase a firearm they should be
required to take a gun course for a minimum of 20 hours at the most. I think that ll enlighten them

Arterial Oxygen Saturation
It is known that as altitude increases, atmospheric pressure decreases, as does the partial pressure
of oxygen (Hall Table 44 1). That same table demonstrates that the partial pressures of both oxygen
and carbon dioxide in the alveoli decrease as well. However, the alveolar water vapor pressure
remains unchanged constant at 47mmHg no matter the altitude (Hall 561). The most deleterious
result of these factors is that less oxygenis being delivered to the tissues. Fortunately for me,
Guyton and Hall says that altitude has a relatively insignificant effect on arterial oxygen saturation
at 9,000ft (Hall Figure 44 1). It is not until 10,000ft that arterial oxygen saturation begins to steeply
decline. The physical affects of acute hypoxia according to Hall are drowsiness, lassitude, mental
and muscle fatigue, sometimes headache, occasionally nausea, and sometimes euphoria. These
effects progress to a stage of twitchings or seizures above 18,000 feet and end,... Show more content

According to an article in Oxford Journals, one of the first steps in acclimitization is
polycythemia. This increase in red blood cells can be seen within the first two days of ascension.
However, the author is quick to point out that it is nonetheless a slow process and therefore not
nearly as vital to acclimitization as the other factors that come into play, the most crucial of which
is the increase pulmonary ventilation (West). Low oxygen is immediately sensed by
chemoreceptors in the carotid and aortic bodies, which then send signals to the respiratory centers
of the brain, resulting in an increase in respiration. In a matter of only days, acclimitization

Do you ever wonder why some people adjust their language they speak between different parts of

between our different part of our lives. One of them is Amy Tan author of Mother Tongue, her story
is about her mother and the world around her. Another is Richard Rodriguez, who wrote a Public

bilingual people adjust their languages for different parts of their lives. The reason is, people adjust
their languages to assimilate the environment they are on.
People combine two languages to make a new language so they are able to communicate to a
group of people who knows those two languages like Spanglish. Having the knowledge of more
languages makes you feel that you don t fit with anyone else. Trying to blend in you find

when you find people who speak the same languages you speak you find yourself rescue and feel

White Lies In African American Literature
One similarity in all of the African American literature read this semester is this one fact. White
people lie. Granted, everyone lies. In these particular literacy works, however, the main characters
white counterparts seemed to have done the most fibbing to put it lightly. From this habit of lying,
most forms of African Americanliterature have been effected, from early literary documents
written by African Americans that have been altered by white editors to lies told by white
people in the actual story written by African Americans. This paper will take a look at examples
of incidents in which these lies occurred, and also discuss these lies told by whites and how they
effected African Americans individually as well as a whole. This first example of the type of
lies told by white people effected the earlier African American literary authors. They fell victim
to these white lies in terms of their freedom of what they could and could not write. One example
is that of Briton Hammon in his literary tale entitled A Narrative of Uncommon Sufferings. In his
piece, he recalls different event he had experienced. One of these events was an encounter with a
group of Indians. He noted them as savages which is very similar to how white people of this time
period addresses the matter of Indians. This simple metaphor led some to believe this literary work
of Briton Hammon was, indeed, heavily edited by a white editor. As a whole, different events

School Uniforms Persuasive Essay
Can What You Wear Make a Difference?
If schools could automatically have more safety, a stronger sense of unity within students, and
higher self esteem for every individual student at a minimal cost without transgressing any laws, or
stepping over students rights it is doubtful that many would turn up their nose to all of these things.
There is no difference between this situation and the benefits that school dress codes would provide.
While the majority of public schools do not require uniforms, the ones that do report it as a large
success (School Uniform Statistics 3). In one study conducted by NAESP, 79 percent of principals

Students who do not wear certain brands do not feel left out, and everyone feels like they belong,
so school uniforms should be mandatory.
Secondly, nearly every student has had mornings in which they take an extended amount of time
debating what to wear. Why is this? Students want to wear what is in to avoid judgment. This is
just one of countless examples of how lower self esteem is associated with no uniforms. One survey
in Nevada stated that fifty four percent of students wearing uniforms either Agreed or Strongly
agreed that they still have their identities when wearing uniforms (Riley 3). School uniforms give
students a higher self esteem. In class, students are less focused on what they are wearing and if
they will blend in. By not feeling pressured to dress a certain way, this contributes to students
confidence. This gives Teachers an environment easier to teach in, and students an easier
environment to learn in (Daniels 3). By giving students a higher self esteem, they become more
alert during class, also creating an easier environment to teach in. Multiple studies have shown that
this reflects in students grades. Not only would students feel better about themselves, but uniforms
would reduce both stress and peer pressure among students, which leads to higher esteem and
school success. Next, it is a common argument in the school uniforms debate that they supposedly
go against the rights of students by

highly talked about topic. I personally, want to see them legalized in all sports above the high
school level. I feel at this age, the body will be done maturing and will be ready to take on the next
advanced level in making itself greater.
Performance Enhancing Drugs (PEDs) are the great leveler, being the tool for athletes to bridge the
unfair gap (Steadman). Athletes choose the amount of time and training they put in. This is the
choice of the individual which makes it fair to everyone (Savulescu and others). The determination,
effort, grit, and sweat that is put in, is the factor between who wants it and who does not

As spectators, we push athletes to their absolute best, where doping is needed to reach those heights
(Steadman). Everyone wants to see the best competitor. Eventually, natural athletes will reach a
wall. Then there comes the question of how to keep sports interesting (Steadman). The PEDs would
increase playing competition and allow athletes to reach those heights to entertain us at a great level
(Hoffman). The people are complicit in turning the sport into an entertainment industry in which
winning is everything (Cashmore). Everyone wants to be a winner. Steroids improve the effects of
training, allowing them to produce more effective training (Steadman). The Anabolic Steroid,
Androgen, is used as a lower dosage. But is shows that muscular strength could be improved by
five to twenty percent (Savulescu and others). During the steroid era, 5693 home runs were hit.
This could be reproduced in the future if PEDs are legalized (Hoffman). Baseball should sponsor
the use of steroids. (Uni Wire) In 1992, Nicky Rabinowicz found out that Olympic athletes, in
general, believed most successful athletes were using banned substances (Savulescu and others).
This is a third reason why PEDS should be legalized in sports.
Furthermore, I want to encourage the reason to allowing PEDs in sports. From looking at the
present and seeing what the future holds is quite interesting. Competition will continue to increase
with the natural increase in athletes skills. Pushing again for more advantages and encouragements

Social Responsibilities And Moral Character Of Business
Social Responsibilities and Moral Character of Business
Milton Friedman was a 20th century American economist who advocated free market capitalism.
In 1970 he submitted an editorial article entitled The Social Responsibility of Business is to
Increase its Profits to the New York Times. In the article, Friedman argues that in free market
systems it is nonsensical to make corporate entities adhere to social responsibilities of business
pushed by activists, as corporations are artificial in nature, and thus do not have any social
responsibilities other than to make money for the shareholders of the company. I will argue against
this paper and support the claim corporations do in fact have moral and ethical obligations to more
than just their shareholders, and that many individuals have their stakes and livelihoods embedded
within the acts of corporations. As well, the idea in the article that corporations are not moral
agents has led to unsavory violations of human rights across the world, failing Kant s second
formulation of the Categorical Imperative, as well as not satisfying Act Utilitarianism. Thus,
corporations, and individuals within those corporations, possess considerable ability to make
ethical decisions that have great impact to many people, culminating in the truth that corporations
have moral status. Friedman often surrounds ideas that he feels are nonsensical with quotation
marks in order to make the ideas seem out of touch with any sort of economic

Learning Organization: Answer to Organizational Growth
Introduction
Organizations are established to fulfil various needs of the people. The organizational objectives
could be achieved via the organization s growth oriented mechanism which is inevitable in today s
competitive world. However, the most important factor which needs to be taken into consideration
towards achieving the objective is the people or staff members who directly have impact on the
productivity of the product or services. Negative behaviour such as absenteeism and high turnover
rates will increase the production cost and adversely affect the productivity, thus affecting the
overall organisational growth.

The process of creating the conditions for a learning organization and of challenging long held
assumptions will itself begin to integrate the five disciplines as presented by Peter Senge in his
book The Fifth Discipline .
1. Personal Mastery
Personal mastery, as defined by Peter Senge, is the discipline of personal growth and learning. 1 It
is more than just competence and skills or spiritual growth. It is about creating a desired future and
moving toward it. People with high levels of personal mastery are skilled at creating a personal
vision and accurately assessing their current reality with respect to that vision. The gap between
current reality and personal vision propels them forward. This gap is often referred to as creative
tension. Personal mastery is about generating and sustaining creative tension and living
comfortably with that tension.
There are few characteristics of those individuals that recognized to have high level of Personal
Mastery. Firstly, they have a special sense of purpose or calling. They know how to accurately
assess the current reality and quickly recognize inaccurate assumptions. These individuals also

The Theory of Cosmological Natural Selection Essay
For thousands of years, philosophers and astronomers have been trying to determine the origin of
our universe. The twentieth century proved to be a time of intense research in the fields of
astronomy and physics. While science still searches for the solution uniting general relativity and
quantum mechanics, some astrophysicists have conjectured about the implications of quantum
gravity for the universe s existence. The most exotic objects in our universe, black holes, may hold
the key to the creation of our universe. Physicist Lee Smolin has been one of the most prominent
theorists in this area of astrophysics. Smolin s theory of cosmologicalnatural selectionattempts to

It seems like a lot of the theories out there are impossible and will always be impossible, but as
our knowledge as a being increases there could be ways of figuring out all of these speculations
(www.aleph.se/Trans/Global/Omega/).
The theory of cosmological natural selection implies that black holes are essentially the gateways
to newly created universes. The concept of quantum gravity is not well understood yet, but it has
been theorized that strange effects happen as matter approaches the singularity of a black hole.
Some have speculated that matter may actually expand instead of collapse in the center of a black
hole. Black holes are the starting point for an expanding region of spacetime from that point. This
effect is called bouncing. The powerful effects created from the black hole allow matter to bounce
through the singularity and begin to form a new universe. When a star collapses to form a black
hole, the matter that is inside the horizon eventually bounces out of the universe as it reaches the
singularity.
A new region of spacetime is created at the center of the black hole. It is difficult to comprehend
what this means in terms of where this new universe exists. Some calculations and experiments
have shown that these singularities can, in fact, bounce and create these new universes

Gun Violence
On the night of October 1, 2017, a 64 year old gunman fired hundreds of rifle rounds from his
suite on the 32nd floor of the nearby Mandalay Bay hotel on the crowded concert. According to the
Washington post, he killed at least 59 people and injured more than 500 others. He later killed
himself. Gun violence is one of the major problems in the United States and the number of people
dying from gun violence is increasing every year. The increase in drugs business, terrorist attacks,
mass shootings, crimes, and robbery are the effects of guns violence.
Gun related violence is violence committed with the use of a gun. Mass shooting, homicides,
domestic violence, robbery, and assault are the different gun related acts of violence in the United
States. According to the UNODC, small gun surveys, America has the highest rate of gun homicide
in perspective to other developed nations. It also shows that the United States has the highest
number of gun ownership. We see so many news related to the mass shootings. There are lot of
shootings at the school. According to the CNN news, on December 12, 2012, a gunman named

Dystopia of Maya
I fell into the depths of Maya s beautiful green eyes and not even the currently setting sun could
compare to their beauty. She pressed once more against the rusted iron gate that separated us,
pushed it closed and once again took away my opportunity of joining my family, and let a pained
cry of sadness escape her lips before turning into the shadows and dissolving into the darkness.
Then the scene carried on as it had before as if Maya had been only an apparition. The crickets
resumed their songs and when the frogs in the nearby creek began the harmony, I knew I was
alone. The loneliness crept upon me like the cold of a moonless night. I stood and retraced the
steps I had already taken earlier, that then had seemed to be nothing but magical when they led
me to my wife, but now as they led me passed the unknown dilapidated shack that served as a safe
haven for my wife and I and along the overgrown dirt roads of Eucalyptus, my steps seemed to lead
me to my death.
I walked along the ruined remains of life on the ground. Old cottages and fields were dotted
along the countryside like relics of a forgotten era. The fields, no longer a youthful green, were
brown, shriveled and unfriendly to the farmers of Eucalyptus who tried in vain to procure a single
sprout to appease the Council. Skeletons masquerading about in clothes and shoes worked on the
fields feeding, begging, and fighting their fields in desperation. The picture should have been and
normally was accompanied by

Economics And Complex Systems Of The United States
Throughout the better part of previous decade, housing prices in the United States, especially in
and around metropolitan areas and high population growth areas (such as the Southwest) saw an
unprecedented rise in housing prices . In 2007, many of the financial instruments which were
used to back the purchase of these properties, such as subprime and Alt A mortgages, as well as
Collateralized Debt Obligations (CDOs), suffered a sudden and massive downturn . In hindsight,
it is accepted by a wide range of economists and analysts that the huge upswing in prices and the
ensuing downturn comprised a housing market bubble . Bubbles are often studied from the
perspective of behavioral economics and complex systems . Many diverse economic agents, all
facing the same information regarding rapid housing prices growth, can generate irrational
exuberance within markets, leading to huge upswings in prices. Similarly, when the same
economic agents begin to hear new information about the unsustainability of such a bubble, an
opposing feedback loop is created. When the effect of one feedback loop begins to dominate
another, we stand at the precipice of a crash . This highlights the role played by uncertainty agents
are imperfectly informed, as the only information many of these investors see is a rise in prices,
driving investment. There is no information available, however, regarding the size, depth or even
the possibility of an ensuing downturn. When such a downturn happens (and

Compare and Contrast Two Works of Art
Anthony Arteaga
Art History Ancient World
Homework Assignment #1
Compare and contrast the subject, concept, and the Formal Element of the two works of art.
Also, explain which category this work falls in. The two pieces I have chosen can be found on
page 200, figure 6 51, Battle of Centaurs and Wild Beasts from Hadrian s Villa and on page 434,
figure 14 8, Battle of the Bird and Serpent. Not only did I choose these pieces for their beauty, but
also because both works have similar yet different subjects, concepts, and formal elements. Both of
these images have subject matter that is the same even though they re different.
The subjects for the Battle of Centaurs and Wild Beasts from Hadrian s Villa are animals; centaurs

Also, the shapes in the background are fuzzier and assumed in piece one where the shapes in piece
two are sharper and more defined. Another formal element is texture. The first piece, according to
the text, is a floor mosaic which is composed of many colored tesserae that were laid down in
irregular, curving lines, which effectively imitated painted brushstrokes. The individual tiles are
more apparent when viewed closely. This gives the piece a grainy and earthy texture, where it
physically looks bumpy. The textbook says it has foreshortening, the illusion created on a flat
surface in which figures and objects appear to recede or project sharply into space. The second
piece was drawn with tempera on parchment. This makes the piece look smooth, flat, and two
dimensional. The next element is color. The hues in both pieces are relatively earth toned. Both
pieces have a low level of saturation. In piece one, the sky is mustard brown with a section of mint
green that frames the boulder that the male centaur is holding. The rocky scenery has browns and
creams with a dull green and brown center. A bright green patch of pine trees is in the corner that
contrasts with the sky and rocks. The colors to the second piece are similar in the sense that it has
low saturation. The colors are dull and warm. This piece utilizes reds and oranges, in the serpent,
that the first piece does not. Because of the tan

Essay on Business Process Redesign Or Reengineering
Business Process Redesign or Reengineering
Business Process Redesign (BPR) or Reengineering is quot;the fundamental rethinking and radical
redesign of business processes to achieve dramatic improvements in critical, contemporary measures
of performance, such as cost, quality, service, and speed quot; (Hammer and Champy,
Reengineering). Since the BPR idea has surfaced it has been under constant ridicule by the popular
press.
They say it takes far too long, creates management headaches, fails 70% of the time, and it s only for
big companies with big checkbooks (Hydrel...). However,
I feel that with the right plan, the right people, and total commitment from those involved, BPR or

The new computer system will also be used by the quality team to update their new metrics system.
The quality team developed a completely new system for the reengineering process. This new
metrics system continually updates them on changes in the market that deal with quality. This is
important so they can deal with the changes right away and stay competitive. And finally the
information team came in to wrap up the whole process and implement the new computer system.
They design a system that fit the current demands but is able to grow and expand a the same rate as
the company.
Due to total commitment from the right people, using the right methods
Hydrel has successfully reengineered the process of order management and positioned the company
for dramatic profitable growth. And they have proved my statement that reengineering can work for
every company no matter what their size. The Texas Commerce Bank Experience
In early 1994, Texas Commerce Bank (TCB) launched a reengineering process called Process
Improvement, which included every organizational process and all 9,000 employees (Betting...).
TCB s goals for their program were: remove all employee frustrations associated with policies,
processes, services, or products; change processes to improve quality, deliver improved service to
customers, and eliminate unnecessary expenses (Betting...). However, TBC took a

The United States Navy s Involvement During World War I
The history of the United States Navy has always been interesting to me. As a child my
grandfather told me stories about his time in the Navy Reserves as a fighter pilot. He always
told me that Navy fighter pilots were the best of the best, and that only a few ever have the
privilege of being one. He had a ton of pride in his country but especially the Navy as he would
constantly be humming the tune to Anchors Away; Sail Navy down the field and sink the Army,
sink the Army Grey. It has now been many years since he has passed away but my interest in the
United States Navyhas only gotten stronger. Is the US Navy the greatest in the world or was my
grandfather just exaggerating? My researching starts by looking at the effects of the United States
Navy s involvement in World War I
.
The United States Navy has not always been the navy we see sailing the oceans and flying the
skies in the 21st century. In 1900, they were the sixth largest, ranking behind England, France,
Russia, Germany, and Italy. They existed, For the purpose of defending our nation against attacks
from any nation on earth, we confidently believe that our Navy is amply sufficient and fully
adequate, and for any other purpose we need no Navy at all. Pre World War One, the U.S. Navy
only attempted to patrol their own Atlantic coast, assume responsibility for the Caribbean, Gulf of
Mexico, and the waters off of Canada and South America. Stated by the House Naval Committee in
February 1913, it is obvious

In order to create the element necessary to life like Carbon, Oxygen and nitrogen from Helium

supernovas. They learned that in the center of a supernova there is similar condition to the big

supernova forming heavier elements that are so vital to life.

“Our Health Care System Has Significant Safety And Quality
Our health care system has significant safety and quality problems, Linda Cronenwett said. To fix
that, we need to redesign what and how we teach the next generation of nurses and other healthcare
professionals so that they understand what goes into ensuring good and safe care, and can identify
and bridge the gaps between what is and what should be (Hirst, O Segedy, 2011). Robert Wood
Johnson Foundation funds national study to educate nursing students on patient safety and
healthcare quality. The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation awarded the University of North Carolina
at Chapel Hill School of Nursing a $590,000 grant to evaluate and enhance nursing school
curriculum on the topics of quality and safety. The project ambition was to... Show more content on

Phase III, worked to develop faculty expertise necessary for nursing schools to teach the
competencies. The focus was on instilling the competencies in textbooks, licensing, accreditation
and certification standards; and promotion which continued innovation in teaching the
competencies. The six competencies are patient centered care, teamwork and collaboration,
evidence based practice, quality improvement, safety, and informatics. In the first two phases of
QSEN, the goal was to identify what s out there now, what s missing, and what s wrong. The
conclusion reached was that our nursing schools need to equip the next generation of nurses to help
drive change in health care. Therefore in the final phase of the project, there was innovation in the
way students were taught, tested, and certified (Hirst, O Segedy, 2011). Many patients lack access
to care due to the severe nursing shortage, and the lack of safety and quality care. The next
generation of nurses, can make important contributions on all fronts, if they take on the challenge.
The QSEN project promotes continued innovation in the development and evaluation of methods to
promote and assess student learning of the knowledge, skills, and attitudes of the six competencies

Conflict In The Hunt
The first in Devi s Imaginary Maps, The Hunt is the story of an eighteen year old tribal woman,
Mary Oraon, from a tribal village in West Bengal. She is pestered and stalked by a male predator
and contractor Tehsildar Singh who has come to exploit the valuable wood of the Sal forest
around the village. When he grows lustful of her, she turns into the predator that he is and
retaliates her excruciating plight by slaying her molester. This act of self defence of the
protagonist emphasizes the need for an organic intellectual like Mary in an oppressive society.
Antonio Gramsci s idea of the intellectual was critical as he was in the situation of creating a
counter hegemony to persuade a huge mass to transform from capitalism to socialism. His... Show

Gayatri Chakravorty Spivak states that this voice of resistance makes Mary an organic
intellectual.... Mary Oraon in „The Hunt‟ is one of these figures (Devi, Imaginary Maps 26
27). The organic intellectual in The Hunt emphasizes the need for resistance to exploitation and the
need to empower and promote the status of tribal women through awareness and education. Mary s
intellectuality shows how gender stereotypes and patriarchal inconsistencies are not something
biological but rather they are only social, economic and culturally accepted norms. Mary s role as
a protector to her society, herself and her relations, her intellectuality to grow along with the
dominant Tehsildar and revolting her rapist and the fact that she rebels against his exploitation of
the land and the women, all done organically prove her as an organic intellectual. Mary Oraon is a
role model for all the victimized and oppressed women who are sexually harassed, her mixed blood
emphasizes her power. Spivak also states that subaltern women need to recognize that internalized
constraints inhibit their becoming organic intellectuals, and that ethical singularity...can help them
overcome this obstacle (Murtuza 143). Mary Oraon is an example of such an organic intellectual
who takes her power on her own hands and turns the table over her

Zoot Suit Riots Summary
In the United States, and especially in border states such as California, Mexican immigrants and
Mexican Americans have had to live with constant racism and discrimination throughout the better
part of the twentieth century. Finally, after years of trying to assimilate and live up to the American
standard, tempers finally reached their boiling point. The accumulation of pent up tension over the
years between the Anglo and Mexican communities reached its limit. The end result was the Zoot
SuitRiots. There are several important factors to take into consideration for the cause of the riots. It
is important to understand what Zoot Suits symbolized for the youths who expressed themselves
through it, the events leading up to the riots, and how ultimately, the relationship between the
Anglo and Mexican and Mexican American communities changed, tensions rose, after the riots
occurred.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to the author of The Zoot Suit and Style Warfare, Stuart Cosgrove, the zoot suit style
may have originated in African American neighborhoods, like Harlem, in New York City.
Cosgrove points out, that first the style was a way for African American youth to show how they
were not to be seen as less than. The style is described as extravagant, it is a suit that is normally a
bit baggy on the body, but dressier than what young people, mostly young men, were expected to
wear on a daily basis. Although the style was meant to serve as an empowering statement for
African American youth, for Chicano youth, the style seemed to signify gang activity to the Anglo
community. This already shows how tensions between the two communities were close to erupting
even before the riots. There was major distrust and suspicion from Anglos towards the Chicano
community simply because they felt their style was different and not what patriotic Americans

  • 2. Daisy s Love Triangle In The Great Gatsby The anger spreads like wildfire readers of F. Scott Fitzgerald s novel The Great Gatsby see that Daisy Buchanan is going to stay with her cheating husband Tom Buchanan instead of leaving him for Jay Gatsby. Where meeting Gatsby for the first time in many years, Daisy experiences what seems to be a closer connection with Gatsby. A love triangle is then created between the three which leads to an extraordinary argument between both Tom and Gatsby fighting over Daisy and later leading to the death of Gatsby himself. Although many say Daisy should have not ended up with Tom and Gatsby arguing that Daisy never loved Tom, she truly stayed with Tom due to him gaining his wealth from old money and the impact society would have on her if she left... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With this Daisy see s that Tom will always have his wealth to support her whenever it is needed. To respond to the arguments Gatsby made, Tom first argues that Daisy Doesn t know what she s doing (pg 138). This argument made by Tom is important in his argument since saying that about Daisy is almost a snap back into reality for Daisy. By her hearing what Tom said, Daisy is able to realized that maybe she really does not know what she is doing by having any thoughts about leaving for Gatsby while she is married to Tom. After that being said, Tom goes on to expose Gatsby and his past secret life and how I picked him for a bootlegger the first time I saw him, and I wasn t far wrong (pg 140). This argument made by Tom is his attempt to show how people whose wealth is new money, which is what Gatsby qualifies under due to him earning his money through the new bootlegging business, is not as respected as his own wealth coming from old money, which is what Tom qualifies under since he was borned and raised in a wealthy family and has always had a source of wealth to live off from. By Tom showing Daisy the bad connotation Gatsby s wealth contains, he would want Daisy to realize how she is both better and safer off with Tom who is wealthy with old money and will always be wealthy rather than Gatsby who earned his wealth in a shady way and might not always have a wealthy ... • 3. Roetter Anticipated About Diversity Case Study Twitter Not Twitterpated About Diversity There are no black engineers in leadership positions at Twitter. There was, but Engineering Manager Leslie Miley, formerly the only black engineer in a leadership position at Twitter, has left the company. According to Tech Crunch, the reason for his departure has everything to do with the way Twitter is addressing diversity and inclusion. Miley passed on his severance package because if he accepted it he would have had to agree to keep some things to himself. He now has the freedom to speak out about his experiences at the company. Some of the things that made Miley uncomfortable was the sense that blacks were not looked at with the same respect as others. There was no expectation that, as a people, they could earn positions of leadership. He recalls being in a leadership meeting with Twitter s senior vice president of engineering, Alex Roetter, and asking what Twitter was doing to increase diversity. He remembers being told that Diversity is important, but we won t lower the bar. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 4. Robert Rodriguez Research Paper Director, Robert Rodriguez grew up in Texas. Initially rejected from film school, Rodriguez taught himself the basic directing and editing skills before he attended a film program. Rodriguez began by making short films, which often featured some of his nine siblings. He won several awards for his efforts and was eventually accepted into the filmprogram at the University of Texas at Austin. His first feature, El Mariachi, showed his talents as a filmmaker and helped him to land a deal with Columbia Pictures. His later films include From Dusk to Dawn (1996), Spy Kids (2001) and Sin City (2005) He made his first feature film El Mariachi (1993) with only $7,000. Another interesting project for Rodriguez has been Grind House, a double feature with Quentin Tarantino in 2007, done in the style of the B movies of the 1970s. Rodriguez s film, Planet Terror, was released the same year. Tarantino s part of the double feature is called Death Proof and features Kurt Russell as crazed stuntman using his vehicle as a weapon. In 2010, Rodriguez directed the film Machete, featuring his cousin Danny Trejo as the main protagonist. The film was inspired by a fake trailer forGrindhouse which featured Trejo. Explain and justify your opinion In my opinion the terrorist threat to the commercial sector is a very real one which should not be overlooked. The commercial sector within the UK consists of a multitude of different industries that as a whole make up the UK economy, each industry conducts its business and trade by relying on the other to fulfill its supply and demand which is turn provides consumer confidence, that in itself is what the economy is based on which makes it susceptible and vulnerable whenever there is disruption to a sector So what is the definition of terrorism, they are many varied descriptions and ideas of what people have labelled as terrorism, for ... The OECD report also explains how as a result of the attacks on both the US and UK, both counties have become more vigilant by increasing their border controls. This has slowed down the rate of supply at which goods are able to flow between countries and increased costs. Increased security checks at air, rail and seaports have seen delays for passengers and may impact the tourist industry as it impinges on travel plans. Many companies now choose to use video conferencing instead. The OECD goes on to explain that government spending policies have also shifted with more money now being spent on defense and security. Fall marks the beginning of the school year, and what kid likes going back to school after spending long summer days out playing with their friends and causing trouble around the neighborhood. That s not a hundred percent accurate, I was a good kid, and I rarely caused trouble, but summerdid mean I had a certain level of freedom. • 7. Cultural Prejudice In Canada Prejudice comes in different shapes and sizes, so treatment of culture minorities differed with the circumstances. The culture, language, and opinions of the French population were widely disregarded by the English speakers of Canada. This discrimination stemmed from the rivalry between the mother countries France and England that transferred over to the colonies of Canada. Anything the one had, the other wanted, so be it that the French and English s positions switched, the resulting discrimination would be the same. However, be it with Britain in control, the English tried to use the influence of their power to the best of their ability. • 8. A Research Study On Celeste Kidd s The Marshmallow Challenge Many psychologists have studied and used Mischel s experiment and examples in their own works. In a recent study, Celeste Kidd conducted one such experiment; in The Marshmallow Challenge Kidd had twenty eight children take part in an exercise involving art. She gave the children two different choices throughout the project. The first choice she gave them was to use old worn down crayons now or wait for a new box of crayons. The second was one small sticker now or wait for a better set of stickers. She divided the children into different groups. One of the groups was the reliable group which was the children that waited patiently, and the other group was the unreliable group which was the children who couldn t wait for the new supplies.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the researcher s opinion, this could be as much about the long term effects of having an unreliable world view as it is about a lack of self control (Kidd 871). So it is obviously extremely important for children to be raised in a trustworthy, dependable environment in order to learn self control and to be able to use their willpower to self regulate. In December 2011 Suleyman Avci conducted a study on 508 first grade students to learn the relationship between self regulation and the delay of gratification in doing well in academics. Most people are aware the more time they put into something the better the results will turn out and the bigger the reward will be. This theory applies to almost anything including academics. The more one studies the better they will do on a test however, not all students understand this, which explains why some students are more stressed than others. In order to perform well in school students need to set goals for the future and not get distracted by things in the present, like watching television or playing video games, instead of studying for a test. I am completely aware of this; nevertheless, it is still hard to do because my hot system wants the instant gratification of doing something fun rather than homework. Future success is hindered by the need for instant gratification. Students who achieve higher levels of academic success are those who realize academic rewards are more important than temporary satisfaction. Those ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. The Takata Corporation Case The Takada family founded Takata Corporation in 1933. Originally the firm manufactured parachute static lines as well as other textiles. In the 60s Takata began to shift towards the automobile safety industry by selling seat belts to car manufacturers. The corporation supplied the first Japanese car manufacturer to have seat belts as part of the vehicle s standard design. Takata found success in the new industry, which led the firm to expand into airbags as well as child safety restraint systems. With its strategic decision to enter the automobile safety industry Takata was reaping the benefits. The firm commanded a major portion of the airbagmarket, eventually becoming one of the top three airbag manufacturers in the automotive industry. However, despite the company s early contributions to automobile safety, recent events have tarnished the firm s reputation. Takata has continually failed to address and correct a potentially fatal malfunction within in its airbag design. Decisions, driven by a desire to reduce production costs, have forced the company to abandon its corporate social responsibility, harming various stakeholders in the process. It is unfortunate that the once respected firm has irreparably damaged its image. Reversely, the listed issues can be used to improve the risk control. The risk of unconsciously selling the wrong product to customers is strongly related to the risk of wrong or incomplete information for customers. On the one hand, salesmen do not receive clear instructions or are not properly informed about the products they sell. On the other hand, customers failed to double check policies they take out. This is due to misleading of salesmen, regardless whether unconsciously or not; individual sales material, which ought to be replaced by official display material of RA; and the total trust into salesmen. This risk is hard to control since it would indirectly suppose that RA s salesmen are not trustworthy. The impact of occurrence is rather low and its likelihood is medium. RA was dedicated to selling the right product, to the right client, in the right way (p.1. case RA Insurance Company). In addition, RA assures its customers of financial security and peace of mind (p.1. case RA Insurance Company). However, RA did not fully live up to those promise statements. • 13. Mentoring In The Classroom III.Mentoring Life is a continuous learning experience, so even those who are knowledgeable still need someone to act as their mentors. As we continue to seek for knowledge, we become more efficient in our chosen field or career path. Just like being a teacher, it is like a rollercoaster ride of a colorful experience. In times when a teacher is on top, he feels like he doesn t need anyone but when he s at the bottom, he will seek for an experienced teacher to motivate him and bring back the momentum to him. However, no matter if you are on top or the bottom, a teacher should always look up to someone for professional learning. Mentoring is a teacher to motivational teacher scenario that is an effective technique for obtaining professional development. The objectives of this strategy are to assist new teachers most especially as they begin their career as educators and to hone the leadership ability of mentors. The canyon has drawn various people to it, including artists who depict its beauty in multiple forms. Throughout this report, I will be discussing and critiquing Rose Eagers Grand Canyon, a landscape made from mixed media. While reviewing this piece of art at the Carnegie Art Center located in Turlock, CA; I learned a lot about the content. Rose Eager, in her later years was a victim of macular degeneration, a horrific disease of the eye that slowly changes the way we see. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Eager has multiple aspects of her image that strongly support a formalist viewpoint. Her artwork has definite structural aspects that have a greater meaning then you originally think. To break down the image in even more depth, when you first glance at the image, the first area that your eye is drawn to is the tree, more specifically the tree branches. These branches are extremely textured, giving them almost a true bark like appearance. The leaves on the upper left corner of the piece look like they are almost protruding off of the rest of the image. The form of this image also adds to its components of formal analysis. Form is based on color, composition, texture and line. This image by Eager has all of these major elements. The composition is constructed with purpose, to show the flow and depth growing throughout the image. There are multiple lines in this art piece, the first can be seen through the top of the work, it goes through the tops of the trees and atop the mountain peaks. Then, there are implied lines, one can be seen between the mountain peaks coming towards the tree, or vice versa. The color scheme again follows her depiction of living with Macular Degeneration, she lost the ability to see colors, and in her image, she only used shades of greys and black. • 22. Designing A 3d Model Of 3d III.IS IT POSSIBLE TO VISUALIZE 4D? Some believe that it is impossible for us to visualize 4D, since we are confined to 3D and therefore cannot directly experience it. However, it is possible to develop a good idea of what 4D objects look like: the key lies in the fact that to see N dimensions, one only needs an (N 1) dimensional retina. Even though we are 3D beings who live in a 3D world, our eyes actually only see in 2D. Our retina has only a 2D surface area with which it can detect light coming into our eye. What our eye sees is in fact not 3D, but a 2D projection of the 3D world we are looking at. Figure III : Projection of 2D image In spite of this, we are quite able to grasp the concept of 3D. Our mind is quite facile at re constructing a 3D model of the world around us from the 2D images seen by our retina. It does this by using indirect information in the 2D images such as light and shade, parallax, and previous experience. Even though our retina doesn t actually see 3D depth, we instinctively infer it. We have a very good intuitive grasp of what 3D is, to the point that we are normally quite unconscious of the fact we re only seeing in 2D. Similarly, a hypothetical 4D being would have a 3D retina, and would see the 4D world as 3D projections. Thesmophoria, a great festival, is of significance as it is a festival which celebrates a fertility rite for Demeter. Married noblewomen are the only people who can observe and celebrate this festival. The basis of this celebration was women preforming rites and celebrating on Demeter s hilltop sanctuary for three days. Sadly, there is little evidence of specific rituals, there is evidence that pigs were sacrificed and buried, and the remains of the pigs sacrificed from the previous year were then offered to the goddess. In general, most festivals in Ancient Greece were to praise and honour Demeter, a selected few honoured other goddesses. Other festivals such as, Brauronia and Arrheporia are also included, which are rites of passage in which girls became women. The festivals that women were allowed to partake, or led, were generally about a girl s development into adulthood, or celebrating their womanhood. Social Responsibilities And Moral Character Of Business Social Responsibilities and Moral Character of Business Milton Friedman was a 20th century American economist who advocated free market capitalism. In 1970 he submitted an editorial article entitled The Social Responsibility of Business is to Increase its Profits to the New York Times. In the article, Friedman argues that in free market systems it is nonsensical to make corporate entities adhere to social responsibilities of business pushed by activists, as corporations are artificial in nature, and thus do not have any social responsibilities other than to make money for the shareholders of the company. I will argue against this paper and support the claim corporations do in fact have moral and ethical obligations to more than just their shareholders, and that many individuals have their stakes and livelihoods embedded within the acts of corporations. As well, the idea in the article that corporations are not moral agents has led to unsavory violations of human rights across the world, failing Kant s second formulation of the Categorical Imperative, as well as not satisfying Act Utilitarianism. In fact he is the only architect of that time known to us with any certainty (Robert)We first see Smythson in written records from 1566 referring to the renovation of a manor house in Wiltshire called Longleat. In April 1567 the original house caught fire and burnt down. While working on the renovation of Longleat Smythson was a master mason, but was one of the people to involve himself in the designing the renovation of the house. He liked to try and make everything symmetrical. It also has a central hall. He used large windows to open the house so that the maximum amount of light from outside could shine in. In Smythson s time spent working on Wollaton Hall he loved the land so much that he ended up permanently settling in Wollaton. The twentieth century proved to be a time of intense research in the fields of astronomy and physics. While science still searches for the solution uniting general relativity and quantum mechanics, some astrophysicists have conjectured about the implications of quantum gravity for the universe s existence. The most exotic objects in our universe, black holes, may hold the key to the creation of our universe. Physicist Lee Smolin has been one of the most prominent theorists in this area of astrophysics. Smolin s theory of cosmologicalnatural selectionattempts to explain the origin of our universe and its fundamental... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It seems like a lot of the theories out there are impossible and will always be impossible, but as our knowledge as a being increases there could be ways of figuring out all of these speculations (www.aleph.se/Trans/Global/Omega/). The theory of cosmological natural selection implies that black holes are essentially the gateways to newly created universes. The concept of quantum gravity is not well understood yet, but it has been theorized that strange effects happen as matter approaches the singularity of a black hole. Some have speculated that matter may actually expand instead of collapse in the center of a black hole. Black holes are the starting point for an expanding region of spacetime from that point. This effect is called bouncing. The powerful effects created from the black hole allow matter to bounce through the singularity and begin to form a new universe. When a star collapses to form a black hole, the matter that is inside the horizon eventually bounces out of the universe as it reaches the singularity. A new region of spacetime is created at the center of the black hole. It is difficult to comprehend what this means in terms of where this new universe exists. Some calculations and experiments have shown that these singularities can, in fact, bounce and create these new universes ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 39. Dystopia of Maya I fell into the depths of Maya s beautiful green eyes and not even the currently setting sun could compare to their beauty. She pressed once more against the rusted iron gate that separated us, pushed it closed and once again took away my opportunity of joining my family, and let a pained cry of sadness escape her lips before turning into the shadows and dissolving into the darkness. Then the scene carried on as it had before as if Maya had been only an apparition. The crickets resumed their songs and when the frogs in the nearby creek began the harmony, I knew I was alone. The loneliness crept upon me like the cold of a moonless night. I stood and retraced the steps I had already taken earlier, that then had seemed to be nothing but magical when they led me to my wife, but now as they led me passed the unknown dilapidated shack that served as a safe haven for my wife and I and along the overgrown dirt roads of Eucalyptus, my steps seemed to lead me to my death. I walked along the ruined remains of life on the ground. Old cottages and fields were dotted along the countryside like relics of a forgotten era. The fields, no longer a youthful green, were brown, shriveled and unfriendly to the farmers of Eucalyptus who tried in vain to procure a single sprout to appease the Council. Skeletons masquerading about in clothes and shoes worked on the fields feeding, begging, and fighting their fields in desperation. The picture should have been and normally was accompanied by ... Economics And Complex Systems Of The United States Throughout the better part of previous decade, housing prices in the United States, especially in and around metropolitan areas and high population growth areas (such as the Southwest) saw an unprecedented rise in housing prices . In 2007, many of the financial instruments which were used to back the purchase of these properties, such as subprime and Alt A mortgages, as well as Collateralized Debt Obligations (CDOs), suffered a sudden and massive downturn . In hindsight, it is accepted by a wide range of economists and analysts that the huge upswing in prices and the ensuing downturn comprised a housing market bubble . Bubbles are often studied from the perspective of behavioral economics and complex systems . Many diverse economic agents, all facing the same information regarding rapid housing prices growth, can generate irrational exuberance within markets, leading to huge upswings in prices. Similarly, when the same economic agents begin to hear new information about the unsustainability of such a bubble, an opposing feedback loop is created. When the effect of one feedback loop begins to dominate another, we stand at the precipice of a crash . This highlights the role played by uncertainty agents are imperfectly informed, as the only information many of these investors see is a rise in prices, driving investment. Also, the shapes in the background are fuzzier and assumed in piece one where the shapes in piece two are sharper and more defined. Another formal element is texture. The first piece, according to the text, is a floor mosaic which is composed of many colored tesserae that were laid down in irregular, curving lines, which effectively imitated painted brushstrokes. The individual tiles are more apparent when viewed closely. This gives the piece a grainy and earthy texture, where it physically looks bumpy. The textbook says it has foreshortening, the illusion created on a flat surface in which figures and objects appear to recede or project sharply into space. The second piece was drawn with tempera on parchment. This makes the piece look smooth, flat, and two dimensional. The next element is color. The hues in both pieces are relatively earth toned. Both pieces have a low level of saturation. In piece one, the sky is mustard brown with a section of mint green that frames the boulder that the male centaur is holding. The rocky scenery has browns and creams with a dull green and brown center. A bright green patch of pine trees is in the corner that contrasts with the sky and rocks. The colors to the second piece are similar in the sense that it has low saturation. The colors are dull and warm. This piece utilizes reds and oranges, in the serpent, that the first piece does not. As a child my grandfather told me stories about his time in the Navy Reserves as a fighter pilot. Is the US Navy the greatest in the world or was my grandfather just exaggerating? My researching starts by looking at the effects of the United States Navy s involvement in World War I . The United States Navy has not always been the navy we see sailing the oceans and flying the skies in the 21st century. In 1900, they were the sixth largest, ranking behind England, France, Russia, Germany, and Italy. They existed, For the purpose of defending our nation against attacks from any nation on earth, we confidently believe that our Navy is amply sufficient and fully adequate, and for any other purpose we need no Navy at all. The accumulation of pent up tension over the years between the Anglo and Mexican communities reached its limit. The end result was the Zoot SuitRiots. There are several important factors to take into consideration for the cause of the riots. The style is described as extravagant, it is a suit that is normally a bit baggy on the body, but dressier than what young people, mostly young men, were expected to wear on a daily basis. Although the style was meant to serve as an empowering statement for African American youth, for Chicano youth, the style seemed to signify gang activity to the Anglo community.
