Nurse-Patient Communication Journal Analysis
The journal that I chose to read was Effect Of Communication On Nurse Patient Relationship In
National Orthopaedic Hospital, Igbobi, Lagos, Arungwa. This journal demonstrates the importance
of nurse patient communication and how nurse patient communication effects the outcomes of the
patient care. Nurse patient communicationinvolves more than just words being exchanged between
two or more people. Nurse patient communication needs to exhibit feelings and recognition of those
feelings so that the patient knows that their feelings have been recognized. According to this
journal, most patients stated that their nurses initiated conversation, listened attentively but did not
show empathy or see the situation from the patients point of view. By not showing empathy or
looking at the situation from the patients point of view, patients thought that nurses did not have
effective therapeutic communication skills. They also thought that the feedback from the nurses
was also lacking which in return made the patients more reluctant to share information.... Show

All of the factors above need to recognized and appropriately assessed so that there is good and
effective communication that is taking place between the nurse and the patient. The RESPECT
model helps guide patient centered communication. The acronym RESPECT stands for Rapport,
Empathy, Support, Partnership, Explanations, Cultural Competencies and Trust. If everyone would
follow the RESPECT acronym, nurse patient therapeutic communication would greatly increase and
the patients would receive the patient centered care that they deserve and need. The patient needs to
be able to trust a nurse, and that trust is made by building rapport and showing empathy towards the

their pension plan will be there for them when they retire (5). In terms of reform the following
factors can help to make DB plans more attractive again: Risk shared plan where the cost is
explicitly shared between participants and sponsors; Target benefit plan (TBP) where accrued
benefits can be increased or decreased according to experience, and Plans where indexation of
pensions is conditional (Bakvis and Skogstad 2008, 144). The second tier consists of the CPP

retirement, disability, and survivor benefits as well as benefits for children of deceased and

This matter is not discussed in this paper. In general any reform to the CPP is meant to apply to
both the QPP and CPP. The context in which the CPP/QPP operates refers to as joint decision
federalism; although made for the purpose of mutual negotiation, it is harder to reach
agreements over important matters in the CPP (Bakvis and Skogstad 2008, 143). The federal
government and the provinces jointly administer the CPP whereas the OAS works within the
domain of only federal jurisdiction (Beland and Myles 2012, S78). First, any changes to the
CPP must have the consent of two thirds of the provinces having two thirds of the population,
which implies that any four provinces can, in concert, block a change to the CPP (Dyck 1986,
55). Second, the federal government has the authority to block any change that it disapproves
(55). These rules create a system where multiple vetoes can overpower changes to the CPP. This
makes it difficult to reach a common consensus on urgent issues and reform, since there is a
diverse range of governments with different ideologies and viewpoints (Bakvis and Skogstad
2008, 144). The requirement that assenting provinces represent two thirds of the population gives
a special veto to the larger provinces. Ontario has a veto in its own right, and will continue to
retain that power as long as more than one third of the population continues to reside within its
borders (Dyck 1986, 55) In addition; Quebec is included in

Interview Panel On The Middle School Basketball Coaches Essay
Activity Description and Summary For this activity I was responsible for being part of our
interview panel to hire our middle school basketball coaches. We hired four coaches to help
mentor our fifth, sixth, seventh, and eighth grade boys basketball teams. I was part of a three
person interview panel that featured our principal, athletic director, and me. This interview
process was the first time I ve been a part of hiring someone to feel a need at the school. The
topic we interviewed is something I was comfortable with because I have coached basketball the
past six years. I felt like I could find us the right fit and discussed the opportunity to be a part of
the hiring process because of the need of this internship activity. It s hard to find an interview
process during the year for teachers, but I believe coaching is a great substitute for teaching
because it is an extension of the classroom. Learning how to play a sport and how you conduct
yourself on the court can help you later in life. I wanted to find a candidate that could be a role
model for the students and help teach them life lessons through the game of basketball. We all
agreed we are looking for someone who will stress that basketball doesn t come above our education
and our families. Our school has struggled with student achievement and I think sports can help
motivate students to do better in the classroom. The class that best aligns with the hiring process is

Comparison Of Astro Boy And Rosy The Robot
Comparison of Astro Boy Rosy the Robot
A lot of kids and teenagers enjoy watching animation TV. Some popular series include Astro Boy
and The Jetsons . The characters of Astro Boy in Astro Boy and Rosy the Robot in The Jetsons
have a lot in common, such as that they are both robots, as well as many differences. The evidence
collected to support these facts include the characters appearance, personalities and their role in
society.
One of Astro Boy s and Rosy s biggest differences is their appearance; however, they also have
similarities. Differences include that Astro Boy has the appearance of a human boy, although we
are constantly reminded that underneath he is still a robot. Whereas Rosy looks entirely like a
mechanical robot. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

clearly outlines her role, as well as showing that she was made to do the undesired jobs of

humans, but also to act as a replacement for the scientist s son. At the end of the episode, he
signs a contract with a ringmaster that he will work without being paid because he was ordered
to do so. This also shows his robotic function, which is to serve and follow orders. The obvious
similarity between both characters is that they are made to serve humans. They do the unsafe or
undesired jobs of humans, as well as follow their orders. The evidence of the roles of the robots

Tesla CEO, Elon Musk, presented the first official photographs of the upcoming Model 3. After
numerous leaks, the Model 3 met expectations. The Model 3 incorporated design elements from
previous Tesla vehicles such as: Model S, Model X, and Roadster. The Model 3 was clean,
sharp, and futuristic. As always, Tesla had designed an extremely attractive car. After the Model
S and the Model X, people began demanding Tesla to design futuristic automobiles. Tesla
definitely lived up to their expectations. The Model 3 design carried through to the public with a
staggering 135,000 pre orders after the launch. The design was not the only factor in these pre
orders, but this unique design was certainly not overlooked. However, some prospective
customers were not pleased with the design of the Model 3. The people who disliked the design

Metaphors In American Childhood
We could have ran through every backyard in North America until we got to Panama (Dillard 48).
This is just one of Dillard s many metaphors throughout the novel that portrays a deep awareness of
space and time. Through metaphors Dillard captures a true depth in the novel that regular sentences
can not obtain. Normal sentences might pull a reader in, however metaphors can truly captivate the
reader to imagine all new possibilities. Dillard shows through metaphors of sight, time, and
understandingthat as you grow older your awareness of time and spacedeepens in understanding.
Sight is one of the few senses that a young child is able to use freely. A young child can have an
outlook that looks completely different than what an adult has. In An American Childhood,
Dillard explores her Pittsburgh and sees many things including, which she describes as, a black
phalanx (34). This metaphor is explicit because a phalanx is meant for a mass of people, not a
few nuns that are walking down the street. Phalanx describes these nuns well because it is a word
Dillard attributes to something she sees as unknown and mystifying. The mystifying nuns represent
one of the first real things that Dillard sees in Pittsburgh that frightens her. Dillard uses this
metaphor as a sign of fear when amongst the nuns, but the reader can see through her word choice
that the awareness she has of the world is pretty open. Dillard is able to see nuns in her travels and
think deeply about her thoughts.

Chinese Culture Of Hong Kong
From the historical aspect, the society of Hong Kong inherited characteristic from the British
colonial era but still the influence of China is heavy. Hong Kong has a closely connection with
mainland China due to geographical proximity and 95% Chinese immigrants with of its population
help to maintain the identity among Chinese in Hong Kong, despite they tend to blend of both
oriental and Western elements(Tsu, 2014).
Although the British colonial government in Hong Kong did not have any intention to fade
Chinese identity, the colonial education system did not cover much about contemporary China(Luk,
1991) .
Due to the gap in ideological and material conditions between Hong Kong and mainland China, the
perception on identity and issues of nationalism/patriotism between many Hong Kong s Chinese
people and the Chinese government are different (Tsu, 2014).

If you frequent a gym, check the rules on gym chalk before using it there.
Lifting Straps
Lifting straps do more than reinforce your grip on a barbell. They also allow you to lift more
weight than you would without them. They wrap around your wrists and then they re securely

they do help you lift more, they have also been criticized for weakening grip strength. To combat

The Rise Of Nationalism, By Simon Bolivar
Nationalism is being proud of your country and it is something historically people have worked for
a long time to have. The rise of nationalism reshaped the world in many way including both socially
and politically by mid nineteenth century (1800 s).
Simon Bolivar changed the social hierarchy, which reshaped the world socially. Simon Bolivar sent
a letter to the Congress of Angostura talking about how South America did not belong to the
natives. He said that the Spanish have no right to control the land because they are not Natives and
have their own nation. The people did not fit into any category and did not like the social hierarchy

do. Simon Bolivar did not want the government to be elected but passed down because that

government and ruler that will make a good change that will make the country great, Therefore, let
the entire system of government be strengthened, and let the balance of power be drawn up in
such a manner that it will be permanent and incapable of decay because of its own tenuity

people will become happy. Nationalism is when a person feels proud of his/her nation and that will
happen when they get a president that will make peace and lead battles against other countries. This
shows political change because the nation would finally have a long lasting government and a good
a society that is well structured. South America became independent and self ruled because

Chemical Castration for Repeat Sex Offenders Essay
Chemical Castration for Repeat Sex Offenders
Child molestation and sexual assault is an ever growing problem in the United States today, but
an even bigger problem is that these pedophiles are being released after only serving as little as
one quarter of their sentence. In California alone (at the time the bill was first passed), there was
an estimated 680 individuals on parole for molestation and other sexual assaults including sodomy
by force with a victim under the age of thirteen as well as child molestation with foreign objects.

Chemical castration is a reversible treatment for those with urges to commit sex crimes, as well as
those who have had a history of convicted sex crimes. This drug treatment helps to lower sex

there are for every other medicine on the market. Although it was not created for men, they suffer
no extra side effects than the women. Chemical castration is an exceptional alternative to prison
time or it works as a stepping block for integration back into society. It is a more cost effective
alternative as well as being more efficient in correcting the problem as opposed to locking it up.
With strict guidelines and continual use it can be the most effective course of action for sexual

(Boyd, 2000) Another trend is the growing demand for scrap metal. In 1994 prices jumped from
50 170$ per ton with 10 percent of scrap metal being exported to offshore customers according to
metalprices.com. Now currently scrap metal is near $300/ton. This makes it more expensive for steel
companies like Nucor to buy back the steel and recycle it.
Other notable trends involve European production as well as new Antidumping rulings.
Industry Key success factors
To be successful in the steel industry a company must be very innovative and able to differentiate
their products from the next guy. Steel is steel and it is not important as to how it is packaged or
how it looks but whether it serves the customer s needs. In order to be successful production must
be efficient, delivery must be on time, and innovation is the key.
Competition
Being a steel manufacturer there is a lot of competition that Nucor faces. U.S. Steel and Alcoa are
two large competitors with similar financial figures and both are ranked between 100 and 200 on
the Fortune 500 company list. Below are some financial ratio comparisons between Nucor and these

Terrorism Has Plagued The World
While terrorism has plagued the world through many forms since the age of time, it wasn t until the

security. From one of the first major terrorist attacks on an aircraft in 1955 to the multiple attacks
throughout the 1960s and 70s, for the first time airports were introduced to armed securityguards,
metal detectors, and explosive detection canines. Over the next two and half decades, airports

Weeks away from the thirteenth anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attack on the
World Trade Center towers, airports across the world are still continuing to operate with higher
security levels with tighter security measures as the threat to jetliners remains constant. These
changes have not been more apparent than in the United States. With the creation of the TSA in
November 2001, one of their first changes to travel policy was for passengers to show up at least
two hours early to ensure there was enough time for the newly reformed security measures. While
carry on luggage was sent through an x ray machine and passengers through metal detectors,
passengers and their luggage were randomly selected by security personnel for additional screening
that included a physical search of the passengers carry on luggage. By September 2002, the TSA
had officially assumed responsibility throughout all domestic airports

have been the source of contention in U.S. politics, as individuals feel strongly about their faiths

religious values, as some have fought to preserve religious principles, while others have worked to
relinquish them. In this paper, I will examine two situations in which religionhas played a role in

A Geometric Parody of Victorian Society
Fictitious elements in literature may be more realistic than one thinks and the concept of
dystopia is no exception. Within the novella Flatland: A Romance of Many Dimensions by
Edwin Abbott Abbott, there exists a world known as Flatland . Flatland is a quaint world. It is a
world where shapes act out the roles of various social classes, a world where everything is
geometric. However, despite Flatland s mundane description upon closer inspection, it can be
seen that Flatland s social hierarchy starkly resembles that of Victorian England, and with good
reason too. In an attempt to bring about the reformation of the Victorian social ladder, Abbott
chose to take a more passive approach and thus Flatland was born. Parodying the various
downfalls of Victorian society, Flatland: A Romance of Many Dimensions is an iconoclastic
cleverly written satire that spotlights the many underlying flaws in the Victorian society. A rather
mathematical society, each of Flatland s inhabitants take the form of a geometric figure. Men are
represented as polygons such as triangles, squares, and pentagons. Women however, are
represented as straight lines. With these two pieces of information and the fact that Flatland is a
satire of Victorian society, one can infer that one s placement in Flatland s social hierarchy is
based off the number of sides one has. For men, those in the lowest class would be triangles.
Unfortunately for women, who are represented simply by lines, this sort of

How Camping Can Be A Responsible Camper While You Enjoy...
Camping is a fun, low cost way to enjoy the summer with family and friends. Here are a few tips
that will help you be a responsible camper while you enjoy the wild. 1. For bug repellent try
citronella candles and Avon Skin So Soft instead of toxic chemical insect repellents. 2. Wear
long sleeves and long pants at dawn and dusk when insects are most active. 3. Stay on trails to
protect habitat and avoid snake encounters. Snakes sense vibrations, so walking with a buddy or
a group is not only wise, it will announce your presence to snakes who just want to avoid
encountering YOU! 4. Invest in a good sleeping pad, or at the least, put an exercise mat under
your sleeping bag. 5. Block ice lasts longer than bagged ice. Make your own at home by filling
milk jugs or water bottles. The less you open the cooler, the longer the ice will last. 6. Never
hang lanterns on trees because the heat can cause serious harm. 7. Pack a small plastic bucket
for dish washing and never use the bathhouse sink for this task. 8. Hungry critters can be very
clever and destructive. Keep food locked in vehicles or tied up in trees. 9. Freeze chili, soups and
stews in zip lock bags, then heat them after they thaw. The frozen bags help keep ice from
melting in the cooler. Rice and pasta can also be cooked ahead of time and reheated on a camp
stove. 10. Pita pockets keep their shape better than loaf bread. 11. Disposable water bottles make
great dispensers for salad dressings and sauces. 12.

Black Plague Research Paper Topics
My topic is about the black plague. I choose this topic because I thought that it would be interesting
to learn about the most catastrophic disease to happen in Europe. The exchange of the black
throughout Europe was the greatest catastrophe ever because it killed 50 million people, more than
any other bug or virus, there were smaller breakouts, and family s abandoned each other.
I researched my topic by looking up facts about the black plague, such as how many people died,
how did the people during that time period deal with the black plague and what was the Black Death
. I chose the exhibit because I think that it would get more exciting than writing a paper.
My topic relates to this year s theme Exploration, Encounter, and Exchange because

The Consequences of the Economic Development of Polar and Sub Polar Regions
Although indigenous populations established themselves centuries ago, polar and sub polar
regions of the Arctic and Antarctica have only fairly recently begun to develop. Originally
classified as remote regions in the world, where the only activities, which took place, were small
scale fishing and hunting by locals in order to survive, they have become sources of great economic
development and prosperity.
Due to their proximity to many highly populated countries, Arctic regions have perhaps experienced
greater economic development than Antarctic regions. The route of this economic development

In 1968, the great quantities of oil and gas discovered beneath Alaska s North Slope, overlooking
Prudhoe Bay, subsequently led to the construction of the Trans Alaska pipeline to Valdez in 1974.
This increased communication links and trade links and therefore brought in vast amounts of
money for the economy and until 1990, oil and natural gas still provided 85% of Alaska s gross
state product.
As personal wealth and length of leisure time are increasing, people are beginning to seek out
new, more exotic locations. For example, tourism in Alaska has become a vital industry, attracting
almost 1.1 million people per year. Visitors not only come to view the landscape features, such as
its coasts, glaciers and mountains, but also to see its huge variety of wild life (ranging from
Brown bears to sea lions) and for fishing (especially salmon). Such levels of tourism have increased
economic development as tourists themselves bring money into the state as well as foreign
currency. Tourism is constantly increasing and being developed as the government want to
diversify employment opportunities in order to increase the rate of economic growth.
Antarctica has similar reasons for economic development, however, on a much smaller scale due to
its uninhabitable climate and landscape. The tourism industry is

International Relations During The Cold War
Final Exam Essay over International Relations This paper will talk about how international
relations changed after the cold war in four parts. The first part will be talking about
environment. The second part will be talking about religion. The third part is sovereignty. The
fourth part will have changes in statehood. The fifth part will talk about gender and then the
conclusion. Environment has been growing as an academic subject for the past three decades
and now it is on the international agenda (Jackson). Since the human population is nearly
doubling, there is a fight for higher standards of living as a threat to the environment. The cause
and effect is very simple. If the human population is expanding, the intake of food consumption
will increase. The effect is hard but easy to consume, food scarcity. The aftermath of food
production overtaxing the land might lead to deforestation and desertification (Jackson).
Industrial mass production of food threatens the depletion of raw materials and energy. While
the production is ever so good, there is an accepted fact that the gases released from the
production buildings will create chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) gases. In the book, it tells us that
CFC gases will cause damage to the Earth s ozone layer or the term called is Global Warming
(Jackson). Global Warming causes severe air pollution and rising sea levels. Using the term
correctly, China is experiencing excessive air pollution due to limited regulation against

Both the novel and the film still follow the same plotline. The protagonist and narrator, Alex, is a

Before Alex went to jail, each scene looked painted with different bright, warm color such as;
red, yellow, green. Kurt Nassau, who has studied the link between colors and emotions says that
those colors signify happiness in a person. Before prison, Alex is happy. But when he was in
prison, his perception of reality changes and the scenes consisted of more neutral colors like
gray and brown, which signifies depression and melancholy (Nassau). In prison, Alex s freedom
is stripped from him, leaving him depressed from boredom. The only time there is color the

In those scenes, the warm colors come back and Alex feel happy once again. After Alex is cured

The Misery Of Silence By Maxing Hong Kinston
Critical Analysis of The Misery of Silence The Misery of Silence is a short essay in the book by
Maxing Hong Kinston, The Woman Warrior: Memoirs of a Girlhood Among Ghosts, published
in Alfred A. Knopf in 1976. This narrative illustrates the author s childhood as a first generation
Chinese American and how her personality was split by living both in American culture and
Chinese culture. When Kingston was little, she was so afraid of speaking English that she was
silent in American school, which was a misery for her. Even when she spoke, she forced herself to
make her speech sound softer and thus acceptable for Americans. By contrast, she and her Chinese
American fellows behaved as they liked in Chinese school. This essay is composed roughly of two

As for sight, for example, she recalls covering her paintings with black paint to illustrate her

weaker when she was asked to repeat what she said. In particular, she details Chinese American
students speaking with a lot of rhetoric, such as an impressive metaphor of her voice, a crippled
animal running on broken legs. As this shows, voice is the key word in this essay. She describes it
as an indicator of Chinese American children s personality; their silence means temporary
personality death in American community, and the girls American feminine way to speak means
established another themselves. This narrative is helpful to know how immigrant children feel in
the new environment where there is a huge language barrier. It is still relevant today considering

Jane Erye s next home emerges as the Lowood Institution where she spends six years of her life
learning to become intelligent and morally stringent, while remaining visibly plain. Her lesson of
physical and mental humility comes at the hands of Mr. Brocklehurst, the institution s main
benefactor. Upon seeing a girl with natural curls in her hair, he proclaims: My mission is to
mortify in these girls the lusts of the flesh, to teach them to clothe themselves with
shamefacedness and sobriety (pg. 96). Such a strong influence on Jane, at such an early age,
greatly persuades her opinion of her own physical image. She feels her status in life always

six years of her most impressionable years of her life at such a repressive institution, she learns a

The Importance Of Bias In Literature
Few modern authors have had as profound an effect on their genre, society, political debate, or
literature in general as Robert Heinlein. Science fiction author Ken Macleod suggests that the
world was having a dialogue with Heinlein, unfortunately, one of the unintentional consequences
of dialogue is misunderstanding, some of which is caused by reader bias (Macleod, James,
Mendlesohn 231). Bias is dangerous to readers and they should, consequently, avoid it for at
least three reasons; first, it causes a work or author to be regarded in many contradicting ways;
second, it creates an atmosphere in which faulty arguments are made, and third, it results in
significant elements of the story being ignored. Though, one should not construe this in such a
way as to denote that this report is so much about the book itself as about the overall scope of it
in relation to Heinlein, the bias levied for or against the book and him as well as their overall
message, and the meaning of the work itself. It is vital that it be understood that in this context bias
is any tendency to judge something either more or less favorably based on preexisting notions
rather than on the data presented. It is equally important to understand that the human mind looks
for patterns, the term for this phenomenon is pareidolia, in which people see hidden faces in clouds
or even hear nonexistent messages in songs. It is because the mind seeks to recognize patterns,
even where none exist. Similarly, people who

Bach And Liszt Essay
Johann Sebastian Bach and Franz Liszt were both renowned for their keyboard proficiency and

was centered on religion. Liszt was Hungarian born and influenced by the Romantic period, a time

age as well as being taught the violin and music theory by his father. Bach was a devout Lutheran
who composed many sacred works for the church including masterpiece, The St. Matthew Passion

Interpretations of Robert Frost s Poem, Design Essay
Interpretations of Robert Frost s Poem, Design
The poem Design explores whether the events in nature are simply random occurrences or part
of a larger plan by God, and if there s a force that dominates and controls our very existence. On
that point both Jere K Huzzard and Everett Carter aggress on. They differ in their interpretations
of the poem s ending and what they think Frost wanted to convey with his vague ending. Both
agree that the last line of the poem was written in an undefined way with purpose on Frost s side.
But each critic poses his own ideas regarding what is the meaning of that line. While Carter
examines the whole poem in order to answer this question, Huzzard chose to focus only on the last
two lines.

This is supported in the poem by the description of the moth as a rigid satin cloth. The satin cloth
can be seen like a bridal dress, suggestions of good, but the negativity of rigid implies perhaps on
the lining of a coffin where a rigid body would lie. In the second part of the octave the speaker
describes the scene again. He compares the scene and the assorted characters to a witch s broth
(line 6), and Carter claims that this part introduces ironies regarding the observer s feelings
towards the scene he saw. The speaker views those characters as assorted characters of death and
blight (line 4). But they are there to begin the morning right (line 5) a positive saying which you
wouldn t exact to hear associated with death and blight. This juxtaposing of blight and right
emphasizes the irony. How can the morning be right if the scene culminate in death?
In the sestet, we are presented with three questions regarding the scene in the octave. According
to Carter, a simple reading of the poem would lead the reader to think that the fourth question that
rises is also the answer to the first three, the answer being that nature is a design of evil. But he
thinks of this questions as foolish, and again, ironic. How can a flower choose its own color? Is

Nicholas was known to be narrow minded and weak willed. He hated politics and was

who could not sympathize with their people. The scandal of Rasputin, the Siberian peasant who

as her miracle. Her son Alexi had hemophilia and she eternally blamed herself for his heredity

Portrayal Of Abortion In Frankenstein
Damaged
I, the miserable and the abandoned, am an abortion, to be spurned at, and kicked, and trampled on.
(165) In the statement made by Frankenstein s Creature to Walter, Mary Shelley utilizes
emotionally charged diction and biblical allusions in order to demonstrate the motif of abortion.
The strong language, that the Creature uses regarding itself, defines the feelings of great loss and
depression, such emotions that it s creator, Victor Frankenstein, felt throughout the novel. The
quotation shows that the creator hates the Creature s construction and wishes it was destroyed. The
conversation with Walter allows the Creature to lament his given life and neglection thereby
providing a statement of humanness, what the qualifications are to be human, and how one deserves
the things a human does. There is inherently self hatred and loneliness that the Creature feels, being
the only one of it s kind and abandoned to its own devices. The following underlines the plot with
Shelley s own experiences with miscarriage, a form of abortion. As these ideologies combine to
form the role of a creator and creation, Shelley s characterization of the Creature, being rejected
and abused, portrays the internal and external influences the Creature experiences with it s being.
Within the first word of the Creature s dialogue there is no mistaking, who it is and how it presents
its existence. It begins it s sentence with I , using the word as an impactful descriptor of prefacing

did not sense the change in Eddie s character until it was too late. She could have sense the change
in him when he started to pick out small mistakes in
Rodolfo, trying to separate them.
Catherine also played a large part in Eddie s downfall. Even though
Eddie was another figure in her life she should have realised that he was actually her uncle. She
acted like a baby and forgets that she is a young woman ...You still walk around in front of him in
your slip ... and ... You throw yourself at him like when you was twelve years old... .
She did not act like a niece towards him and she did not give Beatrice and him space. Some times
she acted more like a wife than a niece. ... I can tell that he s hungry or wants a beer before he even
says anything... .
This also made Eddie feel closer to Catherine. Catherine s character was very weak. She lived most
of her life living by the rules of Eddie and she did not sand up for herself. She also did not ask
permission from
Eddie before she

Describe The Relationship Between Acid And Carbonic Acid
The acid balance must be regulated with a range of 7.35 and 7.45 in order for the body to function
normally. A pH of below 7.35 is considered acidic and a pH of above 7.45 is considered alkaline or
basic. Body acids exist in two forms; volatile and nonvolatile acids. Volatile acids can be eliminated
as CO2, usually known as carbonic acid, which is a weak acid. Nonvolatile acids can be eliminated
by the kidneys, example are sulfuric and phosphoric. These acids are strong compared to volatile
acids.
When there are changes in pH (can be an increase in hydrogen ion or decrease) there are different
buffer systems that can help to regulate the pH, such as; the carbonic acid bicarbonate buffer,
protein buffer and renal buffer. Buffers absorb the excess hydrogen ion or hydroxyl ion and prevent

The carbonic acid bicarbonate buffer is a major extracellular buffer, that operates in both the lungs
and kidneys. The lungs acts as a second defense responding quickly by decreasing the amount of
carbonic acid by blowing off carbon dioxide and leaving water. The kidneys acts as a third
defense talking a little longer to respond (hours to days versus seconds to minutes with the lungs).
The kidneys reabsorb bicarbonate or regenerate bicarbonate from carbon dioxide and water. These
two systems work very effectively together because the lungs can adjust acid concentration rapidly
by ventilation and bicarbonate is easily absorbed or regenerated by kidneys tubules, although more
slowly. The way the renal and respiratory systems adjust to primary changes in pH are known as
compensation. The respiratory system compensates for changes in pH by increasing or decreasing
the concentration of carbon dioxide by changing ventilation. The renal system compensates by
producing more acidic or more alkaline urine. The protein buffer system is both extracellular and
intracellular,

Describe A Child s Positions
Standing The child stands upright with good postural stability and minimal sway if any. His knees
are slightly bent and the leg is in slight external rotation causing the feet to be splayed outward at
about 30 degrees. The boys arms are slightly internally rotated and are help at his side.
Sitting The child is positioned upright in a legs crossed sitting pattern. Posture is good and sway is
nonexistent. The boys arms are bent at the elbows and his forearms are resting just proximal to his
knees on the medial thigh. The cervical spine maintains an upright position over time. The child
displays good postural control with upper extremity deviation from the aforementioned position.

To do so the child used his upper extremities to push his weight back and onto his lower
extremities. In doing so the child quickly and smoothly swung his right leg out in front of his body
and left his left leg crossed mostly bearing the weight of his upper body. In a large amplitude,
smooth, quick movement the child used both legs and neither upper extremity to stand upright
turning his hips to the left to compensate for the crossed leg underneath him (this squared his hips
in such a way that his foot was now facing directly in front of him as he came to standing). The
movement ended with the child in a stable standing position with a good base of support.
These positions and motion were all very well controlled and were executed smoothly. Beyond
these transitions and positions the child displayed multiple combinations of controlled movements
during play. This puts the child into the context specific category of development (ages 7 11). This
child was only 4 years old but displayed proficient movement control that can be considered above
average

Family Centered Practice Analysis
Family Centered Practice influences my practice with child welfare involved with families because
the main focuses is on children s safety and needs. For example, when Ms. Martinez agreed to
participate in an AODA assessment meaning that she was going to entered a program in order for
her to say clean. Also, Trauma Informed Practice helps out child welfare professionals to understand
the impact of trauma on the children when they are involved with the families. For example, the
placement worker thought about placing the three brothers in the same home with their maternal
grandmother Aurora Garcia, but she brought them back to the DCFS because she was no longer
capable to take care of them. After that happen the placement worker had to think

Analysis of October Sky Essay
Living Above Ground The inspirational true story of Homer Hickam in October Sky reminds us
all to strive for our goals and never give up, even in the face of adversity. However, Homer was
fighting for a great deal in his pursuit of rocketry, he was even fighting for his life. Born in a coal
mining town, son of a foreman, Homer seemed destined to work the mine when he grew up. But in
October Sky, Homer has to overcome what the mine represents: isolation and death. The life of a
coalminer is often isolated from several things that most people would take for granted. Due to the
demand of coal, towns are set up wherever the mines are opened. In the case of the movie, the main
setting was in the remote town of Coalwood, West Virginia.... Show more content on

This provides an interesting dynamic and internal conflict in Homer. He is overcoming the isolation
from his father by mining, and John even considers him a man since he has done hard work in the
mine. However, he also becomes isolated from his friends that he has spent so much time with
recently. He is relegated to spending lunch breaks catching up with the other members of the
rocket boys. While being separated from the outside world and even family and friends may be
one effect of the mine, a larger impact may be the fact that the mine is a place of death in the
mind of Homer. Throughout the movie, Homer s fear of the mine is shown in cases like where
the boys are shooting Roy Lee s car and he mentions how O Dell s father died when the roof of
the mine collapsed near him and cut his head off. Allusions are made to the symbol of death
throughout the movie. The elevator could be seen as a coffin, an instrument of isolation. When
Homer is going down into the mine for the first time, the shot is of him being lowered into the
mine shaft, much like that of being lowered into a grave. Homer even begins to blame himself
for the death of Ike Bykovsky later in the movie. Because Bykovsky helped Homer build the first
rocket, Homer s father sent him into the mine, where he was later killed. Homer keeps Bykovsky s
number tag as a reminder of what his future could

Analysis Of Severus Snape
Severus Snape is one of the most beloved, and yet most despised, characters in the history of
literature. Appearing in the famed novel and movie series, Harry Potter, Snape has touched,
warmed, and broken people s hearts since the summer of 1997. When readers first met Snape in
Harry Potter and the Philosopher s Stone, he was hated and feared as the teacher with greasy
black hair, a hooked nose, and sallow skin. However, it is not until the series nears its end in Harry
Potterand the Deathly Hallows, that the readers learn that Severus Snapewas cruel and brutal for
many reasons. One of the most controversial topics in literature is whether Snape was a villain or
a hero. In agreement with the latter, I believe that Snape was a hero because he was selfless and
brave. Severus Snape, although appearing ghastly and gruesome, was extremely selfless. The way
he treated Harry Potter and a number of other students made him hated and disliked by many.
Snape, a strict and feared teacher, appeared to be a very unpleasant person. However, not
everything is what it seems. Behind the monster, was a selfless man who would do anything for
love. In Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, the readers learn that Snape did everything in his
power to shield Harry from Lord Voldemort. After his death on the second of May in 1998, Snape
s memories were transported via tear yo the Pensieve, which animates one s memories. His
memories revealed that he loved Harry Potter s mother, Lily. He and Lily

Feudalism And The Code Of Chivalry
The act of Feudalism and The Code of Chivalry both arose sometime during the medieval time
period. Feudalism was said to be based on the exchange of land for military service ( Feudalism ).
This meant the King would reward those who were loyal to him and fought during battle with land.
Life lived under the Medieval Feudal System, or Feudalism, demanded that everyone owed
allegiance to the King and their immediate superior ( Feudalism ). This lead to the creation of The
Feudalism Pyramid, which changed England s society.
The Feudalism Pyramid segregated and ranked individuals based on the amount of power one
obtained. Obtaining power was usually based on the amount of land one owned. However, the
ranking of the pyramid was typically in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

In typical fashion, some of Klein s newly gained notoriety went to his head and in turn, shined
through his works of art. For example, in his article True Blue featured in The New Yorker,
Peter Schjeldahl mentioned that Still, some quality of ego transcending devotion persists
through all Klein s work. Klein is very confident and fearless even when the work its not
complex and leans toward minimalist. After several months of exhibitions he makes a shift in
his style of art that has become known as his Blue Period (January 1957). Blue Monochrome
was his first real success. It s notoriety came with a show based around his new color in question,
International Klein Blue . What makes his new color interesting is that he actually created with
the help of a chemist. Monochrome Blue has no trace of line or imagery, it simply surrounds the
viewer in color, provoking meditation and deep thought. This notion of meditation and deep
thought may be a reference to the sky, the Holy Ghost, or even Mary s robe which was often
depicted as vibrant blue in Renaissance paintings. The idea to reference art history was a very
contemporary and post modern idea showing him ahead of the times. Klein s blue period was seen
as a amazing success and to show gratitude in Paris they released 1,001

I Am A Little Bit Crazy
Hello! I would first like to mention that this letter will be a little bit crazy, all over the place, and
probable a total mess because I m horrible at writing letters. Well, formal letters. In other words,
good luck reading this.
This paragraph is going to be a lot of mushy feels and appreciation and afterward I will introduce
myself. I just wanted to thank you for inspiring me to follow my dreams, wherever they shall
lead me. You ve made me realize that I would rather spend my life working my butt off pursuing
careers that may not make a lot financially, but will make me happy. To pursue photography, no
matter how challenging or down I feel about my photographs, to keep practicing, pushing and
learning after my failures, since those are the only ways to improve. To (even if nothing I write
even gets published or noticed), keep writing the stories that have been created in my head, no
matter how different or risky they may seem. Even if I may love them while also thinking they
re a little crazy and no one will ever like them. I ve learned from you that the worst I could do is
not write them. To not create a story. You ve inspired me to instead of going through with an
education then becoming a lawyer just for making a lot of money and be able to enjoy luxuries I
may enjoy, to pursue an education in business and marketing, (also photography and writing)
because I love watching companies, nonprofits, stores and business grow. I love promoting people

Netflix Financial Analysis Essay
I.Introduction
The advent of Internet capable devices has given greater popularity to streaming video on demand.
Arguably, the most well known company leading this change is Netflix. We will discuss the
industry that Netflix works in and the competition it faces. Not every company that attempts to
stream content succeeds, but one fact remains the same: these companies are all chasing the
success Netflix has found, and there are a few which may be able to successfully compete with
Netflix. In addition, we will use the past five years of financial statements to forecast the next three
years of growth for the company.
II.Economic Overview The economic climate in the U.S. today suggests a robust labor market
despite sharply declining industrial output. In fact, many have speculated that the government is
underestimating economic growth, as suggested by the growth in wholesale inventories. With the
stock market at an all time high, with unemployment at 5.8 percent, last quarter economic growth at
5 percent, relative mild consumer price inflation, and the bonanza of cheap gas, there is increased
optimism about the U.S. economy (Chafuen). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because Netflix and other streaming services offer a substitute product for traditional cable (one
that binge watching Millennials are increasingly turning to), the declining growth in the cable
sector is a source of new subscribers for Netflix. Low barriers to entry mean that a growing number
of traditional telecom competitors (Verizon, AT T) have announced recent streaming plays, and are
crossing into internet publishing. But those providers see mobile video as a mechanism of
increasing data usage, which is their real source of profit. Porter s 5 forces model would suggest
that this churn of competition will shrink the industry s current robust profit

The Economic Crisis Of 1997
The Indonesian economic crises that emerged out of the greater Asian Financial Crises of 1997 is
often presented as an example of an International Monetary Fund (IMF) project that created
problems for the receiving nation. As the video Globalization at a Crossroads stated in its final
words, It supported the case that economic globalization actually increased economic instability.
Indeed, there were immediate, and in some cases, irreversible consequences of the IMF s
intervention into Indonesia s economy. Examples of negative consequences included riots, massive
inflation and contraction in the economy (Shari, 1998). However, through the lens of the current
Indonesian economy, almost 20 years later, IMF intervention may have eventually worked as
intended, as the country has demonstrated economic stability and growth through several more
contemporary economic crises.
In the beginning of the IMF s intervention in Indonesia, it seemed as though the IMF could do
nothing right. On multiple occasions, Suharto, Indonesia s dictator, had upstaged and embarrassed
the IMF and IMF officials. The embarrassment hit a high note on May 14th, 1998 when riots and
fires ran the remaining IMF delegation out of the country, but not before they were shaken down
by immigration officials in exchange for food and water (Shari, 1998).
As Michael Shari reported in Business Week in 1998, the IMF s faith in Suharto as a trustworthy
and capable leader was severely flawed. At first, Suharto...won

Flexibility Of The Constitution Essay
As our society is constantly changing, the Constitution is presented as an object of reverence
because what is now the United States, it holds us together with the flexibility and strength of the
living document, how the Constitution provides a stable framework, and how the amendment
process changes the Constitution. The flexibility and strength of the living document makes the
Constitution work because congress has the power to make proper and necessary finalized
decisions to carry out its enumerated powers. For example, Congress has the power to create a
national currency by having the ability to coin money. The flexibility between the Constitution and
the current generations we are in today gives Congress the option to extend its power... Show more

The framers of the Constitution knew that the document was going to be changed over time
because if not, it would lead to a future revolution. The writers wanted it to be stable enough to
provide a long lasting framework for the government. Although the framers knew that the
Constitution would change over time they made the constitution difficult to change but possible.
Whenever the framers thought that it was necessary to amend the Constitution, they would need to
propose an amendment that would require a quorum of two thirds vote from both houses of
Congress, or a national convention called by two thirds of several states. Following the first step of
amending the Constitution, the proposed amendment has to be approved by either the state
legislatures or the state conventions depending on how congress first proposed the amendment, in
three fourths of the states. Then if it is approved, it becomes a part of the Constitution. Through the
years, there has been 27 amendments that have been made since its beginning. These amendments
gave citizens basic individual freedoms, but those who were denied of their rights based on their
skin color, gender, social status, and race, saw these changes as opportunities. Without these
ratifications U.S citizens wouldn t have many freedoms or opportunities. With citizens already
having certain rights, the principle of federalism allows that the states have

  • 2. Nurse-Patient Communication Journal Analysis The journal that I chose to read was Effect Of Communication On Nurse Patient Relationship In National Orthopaedic Hospital, Igbobi, Lagos, Arungwa. This journal demonstrates the importance of nurse patient communication and how nurse patient communication effects the outcomes of the patient care. Nurse patient communicationinvolves more than just words being exchanged between two or more people. Nurse patient communication needs to exhibit feelings and recognition of those feelings so that the patient knows that their feelings have been recognized. According to this journal, most patients stated that their nurses initiated conversation, listened attentively but did not show empathy or see the situation from the patients point of view. By not showing empathy or looking at the situation from the patients point of view, patients thought that nurses did not have effective therapeutic communication skills. They also thought that the feedback from the nurses was also lacking which in return made the patients more reluctant to share information.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... All of the factors above need to recognized and appropriately assessed so that there is good and effective communication that is taking place between the nurse and the patient. The RESPECT model helps guide patient centered communication. The acronym RESPECT stands for Rapport, Empathy, Support, Partnership, Explanations, Cultural Competencies and Trust. If everyone would follow the RESPECT acronym, nurse patient therapeutic communication would greatly increase and the patients would receive the patient centered care that they deserve and need. The patient needs to be able to trust a nurse, and that trust is made by building rapport and showing empathy towards the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. Benefits Of A Pension Plan their pension plan will be there for them when they retire (5). In terms of reform the following factors can help to make DB plans more attractive again: Risk shared plan where the cost is explicitly shared between participants and sponsors; Target benefit plan (TBP) where accrued benefits can be increased or decreased according to experience, and Plans where indexation of pensions is conditional (Bakvis and Skogstad 2008, 144). The second tier consists of the CPP and QPP, which is an earnings related program for the employed and self employed that provides retirement, disability, and survivor benefits as well as benefits for children of deceased and disabled contributors (Pierlot 2008, 3). The plans provide a retirement benefit of 25... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This matter is not discussed in this paper. In general any reform to the CPP is meant to apply to both the QPP and CPP. The context in which the CPP/QPP operates refers to as joint decision federalism; although made for the purpose of mutual negotiation, it is harder to reach agreements over important matters in the CPP (Bakvis and Skogstad 2008, 143). The federal government and the provinces jointly administer the CPP whereas the OAS works within the domain of only federal jurisdiction (Beland and Myles 2012, S78). First, any changes to the CPP must have the consent of two thirds of the provinces having two thirds of the population, which implies that any four provinces can, in concert, block a change to the CPP (Dyck 1986, 55). Second, the federal government has the authority to block any change that it disapproves (55). These rules create a system where multiple vetoes can overpower changes to the CPP. This makes it difficult to reach a common consensus on urgent issues and reform, since there is a diverse range of governments with different ideologies and viewpoints (Bakvis and Skogstad 2008, 144). The requirement that assenting provinces represent two thirds of the population gives a special veto to the larger provinces. Ontario has a veto in its own right, and will continue to retain that power as long as more than one third of the population continues to reside within its borders (Dyck 1986, 55) In addition; Quebec is included in ... • 5. Interview Panel On The Middle School Basketball Coaches Essay Activity Description and Summary For this activity I was responsible for being part of our interview panel to hire our middle school basketball coaches. We hired four coaches to help mentor our fifth, sixth, seventh, and eighth grade boys basketball teams. I was part of a three person interview panel that featured our principal, athletic director, and me. This interview process was the first time I ve been a part of hiring someone to feel a need at the school. The topic we interviewed is something I was comfortable with because I have coached basketball the past six years. I felt like I could find us the right fit and discussed the opportunity to be a part of the hiring process because of the need of this internship activity. It s hard to find an interview process during the year for teachers, but I believe coaching is a great substitute for teaching because it is an extension of the classroom. Learning how to play a sport and how you conduct yourself on the court can help you later in life. I wanted to find a candidate that could be a role model for the students and help teach them life lessons through the game of basketball. We all agreed we are looking for someone who will stress that basketball doesn t come above our education and our families. Our school has struggled with student achievement and I think sports can help motivate students to do better in the classroom. The class that best aligns with the hiring process is EL 5623. This class helped us learn ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Metaphors In American Childhood We could have ran through every backyard in North America until we got to Panama (Dillard 48). This is just one of Dillard s many metaphors throughout the novel that portrays a deep awareness of space and time. Through metaphors Dillard captures a true depth in the novel that regular sentences can not obtain. Normal sentences might pull a reader in, however metaphors can truly captivate the reader to imagine all new possibilities. Dillard shows through metaphors of sight, time, and understandingthat as you grow older your awareness of time and spacedeepens in understanding. Sight is one of the few senses that a young child is able to use freely. A young child can have an outlook that looks completely different than what an adult has. In An American Childhood, Dillard explores her Pittsburgh and sees many things including, which she describes as, a black phalanx (34). This metaphor is explicit because a phalanx is meant for a mass of people, not a few nuns that are walking down the street. Phalanx describes these nuns well because it is a word Dillard attributes to something she sees as unknown and mystifying. The mystifying nuns represent one of the first real things that Dillard sees in Pittsburgh that frightens her. Dillard uses this metaphor as a sign of fear when amongst the nuns, but the reader can see through her word choice that the awareness she has of the world is pretty open. Dillard is able to see nuns in her travels and think deeply about her thoughts. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Within the novella Flatland: A Romance of Many Dimensions by Edwin Abbott Abbott, there exists a world known as Flatland . Flatland is a quaint world. It is a world where shapes act out the roles of various social classes, a world where everything is geometric. However, despite Flatland s mundane description upon closer inspection, it can be seen that Flatland s social hierarchy starkly resembles that of Victorian England, and with good reason too. In an attempt to bring about the reformation of the Victorian social ladder, Abbott chose to take a more passive approach and thus Flatland was born. Parodying the various downfalls of Victorian society, Flatland: A Romance of Many Dimensions is an iconoclastic cleverly written satire that spotlights the many underlying flaws in the Victorian society. A rather mathematical society, each of Flatland s inhabitants take the form of a geometric figure. Men are represented as polygons such as triangles, squares, and pentagons. Women however, are represented as straight lines. With these two pieces of information and the fact that Flatland is a satire of Victorian society, one can infer that one s placement in Flatland s social hierarchy is based off the number of sides one has. For men, those in the lowest class would be triangles. Unfortunately for women, who are represented simply by lines, this sort of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

She values her knowledge and thinking before any of her physical appearances because of her desire as a child to read, the lessons she is taught and the reinforcements of the idea appearing in her adulthood. Jane Erye s next home emerges as the Lowood Institution where she spends six years of her life learning to become intelligent and morally stringent, while remaining visibly plain. Her lesson of physical and mental humility comes at the hands of Mr. Brocklehurst, the institution s main benefactor. Upon seeing a girl with natural curls in her hair, he proclaims: My mission is to mortify in these girls the lusts of the flesh, to teach them to clothe themselves with shamefacedness and sobriety (pg. 96). Such a strong influence on Jane, at such an early age, greatly persuades her opinion of her own physical image. She feels her status in life always remains as a humble and inconspicuous servant with a sharp mind and strict morals. In spending six years of her most impressionable years of her life at such a repressive institution, she learns a great deal of humility. Lowood also teaches Jane a great deal by giving her one of the greatest benefits to her life: a good education. Jane spends eight years of her life at Lowood where she, had the means of an excellent education placed within my reach; a fondness for some of my studies, and a desire to excel in all (pg. 115). Her education means more to her than her simple appearance. She had the option of just sliding by in her studies and leaving Lowood as soon as possible. Instead, she remains in a school ... • 31. The Importance Of Bias In Literature Few modern authors have had as profound an effect on their genre, society, political debate, or literature in general as Robert Heinlein. Science fiction author Ken Macleod suggests that the world was having a dialogue with Heinlein, unfortunately, one of the unintentional consequences of dialogue is misunderstanding, some of which is caused by reader bias (Macleod, James, Mendlesohn 231). Bias is dangerous to readers and they should, consequently, avoid it for at least three reasons; first, it causes a work or author to be regarded in many contradicting ways; second, it creates an atmosphere in which faulty arguments are made, and third, it results in significant elements of the story being ignored. Though, one should not construe this in such a way as to denote that this report is so much about the book itself as about the overall scope of it in relation to Heinlein, the bias levied for or against the book and him as well as their overall message, and the meaning of the work itself. It is vital that it be understood that in this context bias is any tendency to judge something either more or less favorably based on preexisting notions rather than on the data presented. It is equally important to understand that the human mind looks for patterns, the term for this phenomenon is pareidolia, in which people see hidden faces in clouds or even hear nonexistent messages in songs. It is because the mind seeks to recognize patterns, even where none exist. Similarly, people who ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Interpretations of Robert Frost s Poem, Design Essay Interpretations of Robert Frost s Poem, Design The poem Design explores whether the events in nature are simply random occurrences or part of a larger plan by God, and if there s a force that dominates and controls our very existence. Both agree that the last line of the poem was written in an undefined way with purpose on Frost s side. But each critic poses his own ideas regarding what is the meaning of that line. (165) In the statement made by Frankenstein s Creature to Walter, Mary Shelley utilizes emotionally charged diction and biblical allusions in order to demonstrate the motif of abortion. The strong language, that the Creature uses regarding itself, defines the feelings of great loss and depression, such emotions that it s creator, Victor Frankenstein, felt throughout the novel. The quotation shows that the creator hates the Creature s construction and wishes it was destroyed. The conversation with Walter allows the Creature to lament his given life and neglection thereby providing a statement of humanness, what the qualifications are to be human, and how one deserves the things a human does. There is inherently self hatred and loneliness that the Creature feels, being the only one of it s kind and abandoned to its own devices. The following underlines the plot with Shelley s own experiences with miscarriage, a form of abortion. A pH of below 7.35 is considered acidic and a pH of above 7.45 is considered alkaline or basic. Body acids exist in two forms; volatile and nonvolatile acids. Volatile acids can be eliminated as CO2, usually known as carbonic acid, which is a weak acid. Nonvolatile acids can be eliminated by the kidneys, example are sulfuric and phosphoric. These acids are strong compared to volatile acids. When there are changes in pH (can be an increase in hydrogen ion or decrease) there are different buffer systems that can help to regulate the pH, such as; the carbonic acid bicarbonate buffer, protein buffer and renal buffer. The carbonic acid bicarbonate buffer is a major extracellular buffer, that operates in both the lungs and kidneys. The lungs acts as a second defense responding quickly by decreasing the amount of carbonic acid by blowing off carbon dioxide and leaving water. The kidneys acts as a third defense talking a little longer to respond (hours to days versus seconds to minutes with the lungs). The kidneys reabsorb bicarbonate or regenerate bicarbonate from carbon dioxide and water. These two systems work very effectively together because the lungs can adjust acid concentration rapidly by ventilation and bicarbonate is easily absorbed or regenerated by kidneys tubules, although more slowly. The way the renal and respiratory systems adjust to primary changes in pH are known as compensation. The respiratory system compensates for changes in pH by increasing or decreasing the concentration of carbon dioxide by changing ventilation. The renal system compensates by producing more acidic or more alkaline urine. The protein buffer system is both extracellular and intracellular, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In typical fashion, some of Klein s newly gained notoriety went to his head and in turn, shined through his works of art. For example, in his article True Blue featured in The New Yorker, Peter Schjeldahl mentioned that Still, some quality of ego transcending devotion persists through all Klein s work. Klein is very confident and fearless even when the work its not complex and leans toward minimalist. After several months of exhibitions he makes a shift in his style of art that has become known as his Blue Period (January 1957). Blue Monochrome was his first real success. It s notoriety came with a show based around his new color in question, International Klein Blue . What makes his new color interesting is that he actually created with the help of a chemist. Monochrome Blue has no trace of line or imagery, it simply surrounds the viewer in color, provoking meditation and deep thought. This notion of meditation and deep thought may be a reference to the sky, the Holy Ghost, or even Mary s robe which was often depicted as vibrant blue in Renaissance paintings. The idea to reference art history was a very contemporary and post modern idea showing him ahead of the times. Klein s blue period was seen as a amazing success and to show gratitude in Paris they released 1,001 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 51. I Am A Little Bit Crazy Hello! I would first like to mention that this letter will be a little bit crazy, all over the place, and probable a total mess because I m horrible at writing letters. Well, formal letters. In other words, good luck reading this. This paragraph is going to be a lot of mushy feels and appreciation and afterward I will introduce myself. I just wanted to thank you for inspiring me to follow my dreams, wherever they shall lead me. You ve made me realize that I would rather spend my life working my butt off pursuing careers that may not make a lot financially, but will make me happy. To pursue photography, no matter how challenging or down I feel about my photographs, to keep practicing, pushing and learning after my failures, since those are the only ways to improve. To (even if nothing I write even gets published or noticed), keep writing the stories that have been created in my head, no matter how different or risky they may seem. Even if I may love them while also thinking they re a little crazy and no one will ever like them. I ve learned from you that the worst I could do is not write them. To not create a story. You ve inspired me to instead of going through with an education then becoming a lawyer just for making a lot of money and be able to enjoy luxuries I may enjoy, to pursue an education in business and marketing, (also photography and writing) because I love watching companies, nonprofits, stores and business grow. I love promoting people and their thing, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 52. Netflix Financial Analysis Essay I.Introduction The advent of Internet capable devices has given greater popularity to streaming video on demand. Arguably, the most well known company leading this change is Netflix. We will discuss the industry that Netflix works in and the competition it faces. Not every company that attempts to stream content succeeds, but one fact remains the same: these companies are all chasing the success Netflix has found, and there are a few which may be able to successfully compete with Netflix. In addition, we will use the past five years of financial statements to forecast the next three years of growth for the company. II.Economic Overview The economic climate in the U.S. today suggests a robust labor market despite sharply declining industrial output. In fact, many have speculated that the government is underestimating economic growth, as suggested by the growth in wholesale inventories. With the stock market at an all time high, with unemployment at 5.8 percent, last quarter economic growth at 5 percent, relative mild consumer price inflation, and the bonanza of cheap gas, there is increased optimism about the U.S. economy (Chafuen). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Because Netflix and other streaming services offer a substitute product for traditional cable (one that binge watching Millennials are increasingly turning to), the declining growth in the cable sector is a source of new subscribers for Netflix. Low barriers to entry mean that a growing number of traditional telecom competitors (Verizon, AT T) have announced recent streaming plays, and are crossing into internet publishing. But those providers see mobile video as a mechanism of increasing data usage, which is their real source of profit. Porter s 5 forces model would suggest that this churn of competition will shrink the industry s current robust profit ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 53. The Economic Crisis Of 1997 The Indonesian economic crises that emerged out of the greater Asian Financial Crises of 1997 is often presented as an example of an International Monetary Fund (IMF) project that created problems for the receiving nation. As the video Globalization at a Crossroads stated in its final words, It supported the case that economic globalization actually increased economic instability. Indeed, there were immediate, and in some cases, irreversible consequences of the IMF s intervention into Indonesia s economy. Examples of negative consequences included riots, massive inflation and contraction in the economy (Shari, 1998). However, through the lens of the current Indonesian economy, almost 20 years later, IMF intervention may have eventually worked as intended, as the country has demonstrated economic stability and growth through several more contemporary economic crises. In the beginning of the IMF s intervention in Indonesia, it seemed as though the IMF could do nothing right. On multiple occasions, Suharto, Indonesia s dictator, had upstaged and embarrassed the IMF and IMF officials. The embarrassment hit a high note on May 14th, 1998 when riots and fires ran the remaining IMF delegation out of the country, but not before they were shaken down by immigration officials in exchange for food and water (Shari, 1998). As Michael Shari reported in Business Week in 1998, the IMF s faith in Suharto as a trustworthy and capable leader was severely flawed. At first, Suharto...won ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 54. Flexibility Of The Constitution Essay As our society is constantly changing, the Constitution is presented as an object of reverence because what is now the United States, it holds us together with the flexibility and strength of the living document, how the Constitution provides a stable framework, and how the amendment process changes the Constitution. The flexibility and strength of the living document makes the Constitution work because congress has the power to make proper and necessary finalized decisions to carry out its enumerated powers. For example, Congress has the power to create a national currency by having the ability to coin money. The flexibility between the Constitution and the current generations we are in today gives Congress the option to extend its power... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The framers of the Constitution knew that the document was going to be changed over time because if not, it would lead to a future revolution. The writers wanted it to be stable enough to provide a long lasting framework for the government. Although the framers knew that the Constitution would change over time they made the constitution difficult to change but possible. Whenever the framers thought that it was necessary to amend the Constitution, they would need to propose an amendment that would require a quorum of two thirds vote from both houses of Congress, or a national convention called by two thirds of several states. Following the first step of amending the Constitution, the proposed amendment has to be approved by either the state legislatures or the state conventions depending on how congress first proposed the amendment, in three fourths of the states. Then if it is approved, it becomes a part of the Constitution. Through the years, there has been 27 amendments that have been made since its beginning. These amendments gave citizens basic individual freedoms, but those who were denied of their rights based on their skin color, gender, social status, and race, saw these changes as opportunities. Without these ratifications U.S citizens wouldn t have many freedoms or opportunities. With citizens already having certain rights, the principle of federalism allows that the states have ...
