Midwifery Essay
Writing an essay on the subject of midwifery can be quite challenging, requiring a delicate
balance between the technical aspects of the profession and the compassionate, human side of
the practice. The complexity arises from the need to delve into medical knowledge, childbirth
procedures, and the responsibilities of a midwife, while also emphasizing the emotional and
personal connections that midwives forge with expectant mothers.
Researching and gathering relevant information is a crucial step, as midwifery is a dynamic field
with evolving practices and guidelines. Staying updated on the latest advancements, protocols,
and ethical considerations adds an additional layer of difficulty. Additionally, crafting a
compelling narrative that seamlessly weaves together the clinical aspects of midwifery with the
holistic approach to patient care demands a thoughtful and organized approach.
Addressing the historical context and societal perceptions of midwifery further complicates the
writing process. Discussing the challenges faced by midwives, advocating for their role in the
healthcare system, and exploring the impact of cultural beliefs on childbirth practices requires a
nuanced and comprehensive understanding.
Moreover, the essay should not only inform but also engage the reader emotionally. Balancing
the technicalities of midwifery with the human touch involves careful language choice and
storytelling. Conveying the significance of midwifery in supporting women during one of the
most transformative moments of their lives adds an extra layer of sensitivity that demands a
skilled and empathetic approach.
In conclusion, tackling a midwifery essay involves navigating through a multidimensional
landscape of medical knowledge, ethical considerations, historical context, and human
connections. It requires a writer to skillfully blend these elements, creating a harmonious
composition that educates, advocates, and resonates with the reader.

Short Story Of Greenvale Girls Boarding School
Come on Ava! yelled an excited Sophia from downstairs. I dragged my suitcase out
of my room. It was half way through the year and our mother had decided to ship us
off to a boarding school for girls. Ava!!!! Sophia was an incredibly adventurous
person. I on the other hand would like a nice relaxing day reading a book and
leaving the adventures to the characters in my stories. As I reached the bottom of the
staircase the doorbell rangand broke my train of thought. I ve got it!! Sophia said as
she raced to the door. I followed after her.
She opened the door and stood staring. Looking down at us was a tall slim figure of
a woman. She had such a pinched up face and I wondered how uncomfortable it
must be. Sophia, Ava? She said sharply. We both nodded our heads in unison. I m

kitchen. I was left with this woman staring at me.
We stood awkwardly in silence, well she didn t seem to find it awkward. Finally
Sophia and mother came around the corner and rescued me from Mrs Cox poison
glare. As I hopped into Mrs Cox car I waved bye to mother and turned to Sophia.
Sophia I said. She turned to look at me. What do you think it will be like? I said.
Be quiet! Mrs Cox yelled from the front passenger s seat. Sophia shrugged and put
her feet up of the seat in front. Typical of Sophia I thought. Mrs Cox turned

Entertainment and leisure activities:
Acrobatics was used in most leisure activities that the Minoan people used to keep
themselves entertained, as running and leaping supplied to success in warfare ad
hunting.
Bull leaping was the most famed and controversial of all Minoan sports, this sport
consists of an athlete who would sprint head long at a charging bull, grab the bulls
horns and jump onto its back, then the athlete would descend of the animal from its
behind. Many scholars argue whether bull leaping was a true sport in the Minoan
Society as some believe it would have been extremely dangerous to have participated
in this sport, yet other scholars state ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Honey was and is still the most famous in Crete as it was the only sweetener.
The food in the Minoan Society shows that the people in Minoan Crete relied on
their farming and crops for most of their resources in food. Also that they had a
extreme range of foods in their diet, which shows that this society was quite
prosperous.
Evidence of food in the Ancient Greek era were the Large Pithoi from a storage
room in Knossos, these large containers or pots were used to store food.
The Minoans wore artistically designed and competently made clothing, they wore
an assortment of complex clothing, the garments were sewn together much like
the way modern clothes are prepared. The Minoans sewed skirts and blouses that
were shaped to the body of the wearer. Minoan Crete had a hot climate, so layers of
clothes were not needed. The men wore only loincloths, this was small pieces of
fabric wrapped around the waist to cover the genitals which were made from a
wide range of materials, such as, leather, wool, linen and decorated with bright
colours and patterns. Many people had long aprons in the front and back with tassels
or fringes and the Minoans also had a decorative pagne or sheath that covered and
protected the penis. Early Minoan men usually did not wear any garment that covered
their chest, yet in later years of the Minoan civilization men frequently wore plain

Tuskegee Experiment Essay
According the to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Tuskegee
Syphilis Experiment was conducted in 1932 by the Public Health, which included
600 black men as their test subjects. Of the 600 men, 399 had syphilis and 201 didn

have any knowledge of being included in a study (CDC). In exchange for their
services, researchers offered the men free medical exams, burial insurance, and free
meals (CDC). The study was called The TuskegeeStudy of Untreated Syphilis in the

that he did this raised concerns about ethics in scientific research (UCSB).
A year after he completed his observation in the tearooms, Humphreys decided to

the lack of birth control limited the sexual activity between the married couples

The Tuskegee Syphilis Experiment and the Tearoom Trade are somewhat different
because race play an important factor in the Tuskegee Experiment. Unlike, the

argue that this is a result of racism in scientific research. Because these men were

Essay on Danny Boyle s Slumdog Millionaire
Slumdog Millionaire by Danny Boyle There seems to be en everlasting conflict
between science, and between faith. Man has always chosen between the two,
giving the world great leaders of science, and great leaders of faith. In Slumdog
Millionaire, directed by Danny Boyle, the viewer is thrusted into an ultimate tale of
destiny versus coincidence. A young man who has made it onto the popular game
show, Who Wants to be a Millionaire? is shown being questioned by the authorities,
who refuse to believe that this young man, who has been brought up from the slums
and forced into a world of poverty and violence, can simply know all the answers.

When Latika is introduced to Jamal and Salim, the audience is shown an image of
her, standing in the rain, all alone. The use of water in that scene seems to be a
symbolic reawakening of sorts, and in that reawakening, the viewer is shown the
harshness and severeness of these children s situation. There s no pity, or a simple
discarding of their issues. Jamal, Latika, and Salim all have to fight for their lives,
for their freedom, and more importantly to achieve their one true destiny, which in
the end, varies vastly in the final act of the film. Throughout the story, the viewers
are shown an abundance of shots of bare feet. For instance, in the opening scene,
where Jamal is being tortured by the police, the viewer is shown a quick shot of
Jamal s feet, as he dangles helplessly from the ceiling, his arms tied above his head.
Another shot involving characters feet is when Salim is shown stealing shoes for
the first time. The viewer is momentarily shown Salim s feet as they slip into the
pair of sneakers. One last usage of feet is when Salim, now much older, begins to
pray before he goes to commit his hit . When praying in India, many of their
religions involve the removing of shoes, and while they pray, they are known to do
so in bare feet. A barefoot itself is symbolic. It is symbolic of birth, and it is symbolic
of a cleanse. Salim cleanses his soul before he goes to complete his

For never was a story of more woe, Than this is Juliet and her Romeo. This quote

tells the story of two star crossed lovers from feuding families falling into
instantaneous love and doing what it took to be together. Along the way, the couple
marries in secrecy and in the end, a total of six characters die, including themselves.
Nowadays, people can see the many different versions and depictions of William
Shakespeares play, such as Franco Zeffirelli s 1968 movie. Differences range from
little details to an entire fighting scene being excluded from the movie.
The most crucial changes between the play and movie happen during the final act.

John Diefenbaker s Relationship With Cuba
Diefenbaker s Relationship with Cuba
John Diefenbaker s actions during the Cold War in the early 1960 s laid the ground
work for Canada s close relationship with Cuba that continues today. Diefenbaker
refused to cut off ties with Cuba, angering the United States President, John F.
Kennedy. Diefenbaker did not support the United States further than their NATO
commitment, and did not send any troops to the Bay of Pigs Invasion. John
Diefenbaker refused to give support to the United States during the Cuban Missile
Crisis, causing a rift between Canada and the United States. Without John
Diefenbaker s work during the Cold War, Pierre Trudeau never would have been able
to visit Cuba and form a close bond with Fidel Castro. It is due to John Diefenbaker
s efforts that Cuba gets along with Canada.

any remaining relationship between the U.S. and Cuba. The United States felt that

Cuban Canadian relationship continued to prosper. The Canadians did not take part

Medical Advice And Treatment Of Family Medicine
Family Medicine is rooted in the notion that getting to know patients through
continuity of care will allow physicians to not only integrate care and prevent
disease, but also to improve patients quality of life. I am interested in the patient
centered setting in family medicine to take care of the whole person body, mind and
spirit. To me, family medicineis inspiring, challenging, and rewarding.
Prior to starting medical school, I volunteered at a free clinic in Durham, NC.
Although I did not have the skills at the time to provide medical advice and
treatment, I shadowed a group of Family Medicine physicians after completing my
duties at NIH triage. There all the patients were assigned to the primary care
provider, and their doctor had the chance to get to know them personally. By offering
continuity of care, the physicians were able to adequately and comprehensively
manage chronic disease, focus on prevention, and coordinate care in partnership with
other medical professionals. I was inspired by the selflessness and compassion of
physicians who commit to caring for the underserved and uninsured populations.
With the Trauma Surgery team in a hospital, I met Mike, an 83 year old retired

to alleviate his fear, put him at ease, and help

The nation has been growing and building as the earlier parts of the essay suggest.
It had a lot of interaction and the growth brought in a lot of people from outside and

just was not possibly biologically speaking. Be it music or be it the style of
governance or even the type of architecture in the country. They all

Since 2001, marriage has either fallen a slim or stayed consistent, while divorce has

The Lady s Maid represents the middle class, and the Housemaid represents the

Mexican War Justified
The Mexican War: Justified or Unjustified?
The Mexican War, or as it was called in Mexico, the American Invasion, was a very
controversial event. Before the Mexican War, people from the US began moving to
Texas. Texas was a disputed territory, as neither country agreed on who owned it.
Mexico said they owned, while the US said that they did. There are many reasons to
argue that the Mexican War should/should not have been started. The Mexican War
should not have been started because US settlers in Texas broke Mexican law, the US
invaded Mexico, and the countries had mixed up borders.
Before the Mexican War started, both the US and Mexico had mixed up borders.

Nueces River as their border, while the US thought the Rio Grande to be the border

nor could they know if they were invading another land. The Mexican government

evidence shows the US was not justified in going to war because the borders were
mixed up. The US should not have gone to war because of mixed up

Eli Lilly Co. lost a group of important select patents so they are now looking to

prior to a drug hitting the market, revenue forecasts for the company are unknown.
Lilly s short term forecast is not much clearer as revenue for the fourth quarter of
2013 declined 2 percent to $5.80 billion largely on Cymbalta s patentexpiration, the
company affirmed. Net income dropped 12 percent to $727.5 million, or 67 cents
per diluted share, compared with $827.2 million, or 74 cents per share, for the year

Lilly s unique proficiency is its capability to bring about drug advancement. Lilly
has the skill to identify prospective drug applicants by frequently improving
processes with their research and development. To give an example, in the 1960s
Lilly started a line of oral and injectable antibiotics called cephalosporins. Lilly has
many examples such as this in which they are the first company to do XY or Z. The
company is continually investing in new alliances and technologies around the
world to aid in their research and to expand their abilities. The company will be able
to achieve further patents as a result of their new alliances and technology research.

Business Partnership Case Study
As previously spoken about, it was made apparent that two issues have arisen
regarding your business, one being if a partnership may be formed with a volunteer
and as to whether you are liable owing to the conduct of one of your stall volunteers.
Both situations in hand are relatively common, therefore the law is well established
on these matters. With respect to the first issue concerning a partnership with Ms
Jones, there are many routes one can take when setting up a business partnership.
From what is to be understood from our previous meeting, the partner in question is a
volunteer who works on your market stall, she has been there for a year and

currently, you... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Seemingly, it may be advisable that both parties pay the same amount into the
business, ensuring that there are equal capital shares. A partnership agreement
may occur either orally or in the formation of written contract, which BTZ Garrett
LLP solicitors would gladly draw up for you if a written contract was needed. It
may be suggested that this is the best route to take as all aspects of the business
can be clarified between both partners, ensuring a basis is covered. As a
clarification, a partnership doesn t, in the eyes of the law, only commence on a
contractual or oral basis. An aspect used by Inland Revenue to ascertain when a
partnership commences is when a new bank account is opened. As stated before, a
general partnership divides all profits equally however, if needed it may be
advisable at a later stage to look into the accounts of your business to see whether
profits have boosted since Ms Jones began her volunteering. If profits have remained
the same throughout the year to that of previous years, one clause we could possibly
look into would be, rather than having than equally divided partnership, a 70:30
percent ratio partnership, which may be the most beneficial to yourself in

later years were his best. Wallace Stevens will always be remembered as one of the
great modernist American Poets. Wallace Stevens ability to transcend the limits of
experience, combined with his technical prowess as a poet, makes for
otherworldly poetry of the everyday world. You can see this in his poem simply
titled Anecdote of the Jar . On first glance, this poem seems insignificant and not
very interesting but if you look at it closely the beauty shines through. The poem
can seem dry and boring when he describes the jar, And round it was... the jar was
gray and bare (lines 2 and 10). Even though these lines might seem boring it is part
of Stevens Imagist poetry style that stressed absolute precision in presenting the
image itself rather than oblique description. Another interesting aspect of Stevens
poetry is that it can be perceived multiple ways. The jar was round upon the ground
/ And tall and of port in the air. This line could be read as the jar being round, tall,
and large; or the port could be a metaphor comparing the jar and air to the port and
sea, a passage way (lines 7 8). It (the jar) did not give of bird or bush. The line could

Excerpts From Being And Time By Martin Dasein Analysis
An Outline Summary: Excerpts from Being and Time (1927) (Dasein s Possibility of
Being a Whole, and Being towards Death) Martin Heidegger
Martin Heidegger started his argument by saying that once the Dasein reaches its
death, it then loses its state of being there and is now transitioning to a no longer
dasein state and will take it as an experience. However, death of the Other, as he said,
is rather impressive and the termination of Dasein, in turn, will be Objectively
accessible therefore making bounds of the Dasein s totality. Even with the Other s
death, in its no longer Dasein state and Being no longer in the world, it is still
considered as a Being just in the Being just present at hand and no more of a bodily
thing that we will encounter. The coming of an end of an entity qua Dasein is the
coming forth of beginning of the same entity qua something present at hand. The
changing over of Dasein to that of the Being just present at hand and no more
doesn t necessarily imply that we are not presented with such mere corporeal
Thing. Even if reaching the peak of death, a dead corpse can be of use to someone
who is seeking for the meaning or idea of life. This such being is not to be confused
as a lifeless material for it may have lost its life but it still always something more
than that. He then defined deceased as that which ... Show more content on

Although the dying of Others is not really experienced by us rather we are simply

the possibility for it to be coming to an end. He has said that the dying of Others is
suggested to be the substitute for the analysis of Dasein s totality however, that is
wrong. If one is under that mindset that one s Dasein is open for connection or

Nuclear Energy And Its Effects
1.Background
Nuclear energy can be produced by fission, by splitting a nucleus into smaller
products, (precisely equal parts). These products are equal to half of the original
mass. In the process of nuclear fission, energy and neutrons will be emitted. Along
with the emission of neutrons, also during the process of fission, a large amount of a
product s energy is released.
Every day we are surrounded by so much radiation however, only some radiation can
be harmful to us. Radiation such as microwaves, radio waves, and infrared are
classes as non ionizing and are not a threat to humans. Radiation classed as Ionizing
radiation is most definitely harmful to us because it has the capability of removing
electrons from other atoms and then ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They also have a less powerful ionizing rate compared to alpha particles.
Gamma rays are energy, also known as electromagnetic radiation. They have no
charge or mass. They move through the air extremely quickly (at the speed of light)
and to ionize them, they need to directly hit the nucleus of an atom. This suggests that
gamma rays have a very low ionizing rate and can travel much t=further through the
air compared to alpha and beta particles.
Nuclear fuelled power plants are very similar to fossil fuelled power pants, in which
they both turn water into steam in order to control the turbine generators that produce
energy; the only difference is the source of heat. At nuclear powerplants, a nuclear
reactor produces and controls the amount of energy that is released when atoms of
Uranium split, which is called fission. The heat that is used to make this steam is
created by this form of fission. Uranium fuelled nuclear power plants are a clean and
efficient way of boiling water to produce the steam that is used to operate the turbine
generators within the power plant.
Figure 1 shows the equation for the nuclear fission of uranium 235.
2.Discussion
Even though we use Nuclear energy to give places electricity, Nuclear energy is used
in many more things than just in the production of electricity. Such as; Hospitals,

Comparison between Charlie Chaplin s The Kid and

The most apparent similarity between these two films is that both films revolve
around the daily lives of the main characters.
The main characters, Charlie and Mr. bean, in The Kid and Mr. Bean The Ultimate
Disaster Movie respectively, both have child like qualities, and the tendency to be
rather mischievous. Mr. Bean is naive and self centered, sometimes to the extent of
becoming somewhat mean. Despite his considerable age, he still sleeps cuddled up
with his teddy bear. Nothing is sacred to him, and he plays his games with an earnest
sheepishness. His childish directness and honesty, while offensive at times, are his
sharpest weapons. The little ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Bean himself, in a typically English environment, then later putting him in an
international environment. Being release in 1997 it is a light hearted satire of how
the more conservative English society reacts to and attempt to adapt to rapidly
changing international standards and the shifts in power.
The main difference of these two movies is that The Kid aims to bring some cheer
to its audiences hearts by showing how joy can still be found in the gloomiest
conditions (as depicted in the daily lives of Charlie and the child he has adopted)
and also to reflect the state of the society while Mr. Bean The Ultimate Disaster
Movie seeks to bring some comic relief into the highly stressful lifestyle of the
modern day individual, by actually letting them laugh at a highly exaggerated, and
therefore comic, version of themselves .
As mentioned earlier, the era in which Charlie Chaplin s The Kid was made did not
allow for colour or sound to be incorporated into its production. Being disadvantaged
in this area, the actors in the film had to make up for it by emphasizing on facial
expressions and body movements, in order to express thoughts and emotions, and
also to portray certain unique mannerisms and character traits of the various
characters in the story. Modern day audiences who are unaccustomed to this form of
acting might feel uncomfortable viewing films from the silent era, because the actors
may seem to them, to be over acting to an outrageous
The Effect Of Reading The List Of Operations Names On...
1.What is the effect of reading the list of operations names in Perception
Management? I think what the author is trying to show us how many operations
are going on during the war. 2.How did the names make you feel? While I was

grade schoolers. For example, Bone breaker, Wolfhound furry, Lightning hammer, all

why it is a poem i d have to say because the names of operations flow together. 4.

age groups in sporting leagues is January first. Children playing sports with
birthdays closer to the first typically do better due to maturity. This slight advantage
leads them to getting better training and coaching and ultimately giving them a
bigger advantage. This advantage grows until the later birthdays simply cannot

are left in the dust. This multiple sport scenario unequivocally proves success is not
determined by personal qualities but by small advantages that grow into large ones.

Nora
In the nineteenth century the typical husband wife relationship consisted of the
husband working and providing for his family whilst the wife being completely and
financially dependant on him. The status of women in the time period of which this
play was written, was that of second class citizen. Women did not have the right to
many things that men did and the role of women was mainly restricted to that of a
housewife. In his play, A Doll s House , Henrik Ibsenportrays Nora as a regular
housewife who goes through an awakening; realizing that she deserved to live a
better life filled with more freedom. At the beginning of the play, Nora, the main
character, demonstrated that she was okay with this stereotypical relationship;

To begin, Nora was leaving behind her kids, without looking back, she says,
Goodbye, Torvald. I won t see the little ones (3.79). Although in the olden days it
was not uncommon for a nanny or nurse to bring up children, Nora leaving behind
her children altogether would have a negative effect on them. She said she would
not see them again, which might make her children feel as if they were abandoned.
Moreover, Nora would risk social deprivation. It is known that women did not
have many rights in the nineteenth century, so it would be very difficult to live
alone as a women in that time period. An example of this is Christine, she said I
only feel my life unspeakably empty. No one to live for anymore (1.11). Christine
is living alone, and is finding it hard to live in a society where that is not accepted.
Lastly, it would be hard for Nora to financially support herself, since she has
depended on Torvald for a very long time. She would often have to ask Torvald for
money, since that was the norm in the nineteenth century. For Christmas, Nora asks
Torvald You might give me money (1.5). This shows that Nora did not have money
of her own, which might make it difficult for her in the
The Pain Scale
In the article The Pain Scale , Biss is giving a proposal to definition of the pain
scale. The author scaled the pain in a numeric values represented by a scale from
zero to ten. First, is the zero scale. As Biss described herself as some one who
generate question instead of answering them, she thinks that paincannot be
eliminated. Meaning, zero cannot explain a situation, just like its numerical value,
we cannot apply some computational operations to it. Then, the author goes to
explain how zero is interpreted in Celsius and Kelvin. To illustrate her point, she
used the chicken as an example. The concept of the chicken example is that when
we grab the chicken by its feet and the chicken is not complaining, that does not
mean that the chicken is in no pain. The moral of zero pain is that either the pain
cannot be expressed or it can not be felt. Second, the author started with the stories
of how she was taught what is pain and who invented the scale of zero to ten pain
scale. For example, Biss s father told her that an itch is just a damaged tissue. Biss
then asks a very complex question, she said When does pain worth measuring?
With poison ivy? With a hang nail?... A razor cut? This shows how complex it is to
judge where the pain begins. Even with a trained hospice nurses, not every pain can
be identified. Biss conclude the scale one by assuming that zero and one are close to
each other to the point where they might equal each other. Third, the scale numbertwo

Impacts Of The Shikoku Pilgrimage
Shikoku Pilgrimage
Is the Omairingu project inspiring or ridiculous?
Introduction
The Shikoku Henro is a Buddhist Pilgrimage visiting eighty eight Buddhist Temples
in Shikoku to commemorate one of the most famous Japanese Buddhist Monks
KЕ«kai as known as KЕЌbЕЌ Daishi. This pilgrimage is a training bringing both
physical and spiritual benefits to pilgrims through its intensive process. Nevertheless,
due to the consequences of rapid modernization in Japan, cultural practices like
Shikoku Henro are at threats of erosion because of the increasing concentration of
Japanese people on fulfilling material life rather than enriching spiritual experience.
Facing challenges of being eternally forgotten, Shikoku Pilgrimage needs a greater
dynamic to continue preserving its quintessence. One of the possible solutions that
were already implemented is giving birth to the Omairingu manga, anime and cosplay
pilgrimage in attempts to reintroduce this holy practice in a more pop cultural
approach. However, the Omairingu concept is quite controversial among traditional
pilgrims and pop culture fans on how much is too much to deliver sacred images. For

Random Drug Testing In Schools
Have you ever felt your rights are being taken away? The Hebron Middle School
Handbook says, Four categories of 9 12 students will be the focus of a testing
program where they will be pulled away to have to take a random drug test that will
be sent to the parents with the result and procedure included. The fourth amendment
of the Constitution says that there should be no unreasonable searches. Unless the
school has reasonable evidence that a student is using an illegal drug, random drug
testing could fall under this amendment. Students may feel they are having their
rights taken from them, and they may be more likely to start abusing drugs because
they feel disrespected. This rule should be changed before more students feel their
rights are being taken from them. The rule that is going to be changed is the rule that
states students will be randomly drug tested. This rule can invade a student s privacy.
This rule also can break the fourth amendment. Drug testing can also make a student
feel uncomfortable, and often feel that their privacy has been invaded. Students
should have the right to decline taking a random drug test. Students may feel more
inclined to take the test, if declining the test was an option. Students may feel this
way because their rights are being protected.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Police Brutality Theory
Police brutality comes in different forms from the 1800 s to now. Whether it was
lynching, harassment, beatings, shootings, etc. Police brutality has caused major
uproars all around causing people to come together to fight for what is right. Many
friends and families have been affected from deaths and injuries caused by police.
Some people might even believe the victims deserve it. There are good cops out
there, but some police throw on their uniforms and abuse the power of being the
authority. Physical abuse is turning into the main theory of police misconduct. Race
has been a huge factor on police brutality. Authority seemed to be going after blacks

Growing Up Essays
What does it mean to grow up? Does it mean washing your car, paying your bills,
getting a job? Does it mean getting married, having kids, and sprouting gray hair?
Is it necessary? Is everyone capable of it? Is it going to be hard and will it be worth
the effort? All of these questions are probably what made Peter Pan decide to
never leave Neverland. Growing up means a lot of different things to many
different people. If we look at the words growing up , we simply think of the
physical aspect of ageing, growing tall and wide. But for most people, growing up
means something deeper involving a change in the approach that an individual has to
life and the actions that are taken with it. In this essay, we will look at why people

They can t just be told. Mistakes are made and we are held accountable. Such
mistakes could include simple things when we are young like hitting your younger
sibling, or they could be as adults like not paying your bills. Sometimes, we have to
make the mistake in order to be able to correct it. We look at the mistake we made,
for example, cheating on a test. We are pleased with the score. However, we see
that we did not receive the grade that was deserved. The other students all put in
long hours of studying and in turn earned their good grades. When something like
this happens an immature person would not think much of it and move on, but a
person who has grown spiritually into a person with morals will not feel
comfortable with this result, and probably not do it again. That is one form of
growing up. It is important to feel responsibility for the actions that have been
taken. The next step is reacting in a productive way to that responsibility. In order
to assume responsibility, we have to have a sense of right and wrong which is
only naturally learned by living life. When responsibility is accepted, we have
begun to see the truth and reality of our situation, as Peck describes. Dedication to
truth is heavily involved with the concept of accepting responsibility because for
people to see blame in themselves, they have to have a clear plane of reality that
shows the necessity of a solution from them. The eyes have to be

general audience alike have given film adaptations the cold shoulder. A Clockwork

A Clockwork Orangesets out to show the mind and workings of an extremely violent
teenager in a futuristic dystopian society. Director, producer, and screenwriter,
Stanley Kubrick s 1971 interpretation of the book has been critically acclaimed as

Norman perfectly describes this film in a whole. While this film being overly
graphic, its story and actions within the film keep the audience wanting to see more,
regardless of how shocking it is. As the film progresses, it seems to just continue with
its graphic depictions. For example, they trick a woman and her husband into letting
them into their home. Once inside, they tie a ball over mouths to prevent screaming.
Right after, Alex and his gang rip her clothes off, in which her husband naturally
reacts to try and prevent it. Alex acknowledges him and essentially humiliates the
man and the gang proceeds to rape her to death. This scene is graphically depicted

brutishness of man (Time Magazine). With its effective portrayal of this scenes, we
see the film become critically acclaimed as one of the best. Not only does this
follow the book almost identically, but it creates a vivid image of each graphic
scene for the audience. Its interpretation of the graphic scenes from the book to film
has made it a great film, which many film adaptations fail to do. The novel relies
heavily on the symbolism music has to Alex; fortunately we see this come to life in
the film. Throughout the film we hear classical music, specifically louder when an

Pelagic Shark Evolution
Transformations in marine ecosystems produced by the functional elimination of
apex predators, recently due to the increasing scale of human exploitation of the
sea, can derive in complex and unpredictable consequences. As a consequence, it is
expected a presumably increase of their prey populations, many of them secondary
predators, with severe cascade down effects on the food webs (Baum et al. 2003,
Myers et al. 2007, Dulvy et al. 2008). Hence, the management and conservation of
wide range predators such as pelagic sharks becomes highly necessary, yet extremely
difficult due to fast changes in their population dynamics as well as their high
mobility often in open oceans beyond countries jurisdiction zones (Dulvy et al. 2008,
Sims 2010).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It prefers relatively cool waters between 7 and 16 В°C with an epipelagic

decades mark recaptured and tagging studies have documented that blue sharks use
currents as the Gulf Stream and the Atlantic North Equatorial Current to perform
regular trans Atlantic migrations, generally showing sexual segregation in their

individuals, while adult males occupy more western NA Latitudes and adult
females migrate to southern tropical latitudes upon reaching maturity (Queiroz et

a result of the current lack of international limit on catch, the annual global catch of

shows the Samsung R amp;D budget and percentage sales, We arrive at the
conclusion that the Samsung s R amp;D budget increased till the year 2007

The Cause And Causes Of The American Revolution
The American Revolution started due to a defiance against Britain. The 13 colonies
located in America were getting heavily taxed due to Britain demanding money after
the French and Indian War. The British wanted the colonies to pay for their downfall
due to the British thoughts that the war was fought for their defense of the colonies.
Another cause of the revolution the Tax Act of 1773, and the Stamp Act. This caused
the frustration of the 13 colony states as they were constantly being taxed. The
people in the colonies revolted by not using British goods. Many colonists in order to
demonstrate their frustration by drinking coffee and not the beloved tea. This became
so large that violence soon plagued, and a more organized demonstration of
frustration became known as the Boston Tea Party. The American patriots began to
fight against the British Empire. The British began to send their army to try to
resolve the riots and have the colonists pay their taxes. The preceding year the
American patriots wanted to be dissolved from the British Empire. The colonists
wrote their perspectives down for their Declaration of Independence , which sought
after their freedom, to have their own rules and regulations and tax policies. The war
continued for a span of five years until Britain could no longer continue to their lack
of army. Once the war ended, we officially became the United Statesof America. The
colonists had developed a new state known as The Articles of Confederacy, which
My Personal Literary Theory Of Literature
It is amazing how the same piece of literature can offer different insight,
interpretation, and understanding to a person at different stages of their life. I ve
been able to see this throughout my own life as increased knowledge and experience
has led to the evolution of my approach to literature. As of late, I tend to apply the
following personal literary theorywhen presented with a literary work. First, I try to
search for morals and lessons that I can draw from the text. I enjoy doing this
because I can learn new things and gain new insights. Second, I try to make
connections to the text by comparing characters, descriptions, or situations to either
myself, the world around me, or other works of literature that I have encountered.
Third, I pay attention to the literary devices employed by the author, such as similes,
metaphors, repetition, and personification. Lastly, I look for symbols. I will now
proceed to introduce the novelthat I have chosen and use it to demonstrate my
personal literary theory.
The literary work I have decided to analyze throughout the semester is Stargirl, by
Jerry Spinelli. It is a teen fiction novel set at Mica Area High School in Arizona. The
basic plotline is as follows: a new girl named Stargirl arrives at school who is very
different than the students there. Besides her unusual name, she also dresses
strangely, has a pet rat, and does sporadic, off the wall things. The students don t

How Did Elizabeth I Win Spanish Armada
Introduction [maximum 250 words]
In 1588, Europe bore witness to one of England s greatest naval victories to date,
establishing it as a major European Superpower of the 16th Century and marking
one of its most progressive era s. Despite the fact that England s defeat of Spanish
King, Philip II s armada was acclaimed to have been owed to the intervention of a
higher power, both historians past and present can acknowledge the significance of
Queen Elizabeth I and the integral role which she played in her nations victory.
England s extreme success from this conflict was unanticipated, yet integral to her
reign, as it not only decoupled preconceived ideas about her legitimacy and capability
to rule, but also ended long religious feuds concerning the nation s primary religion.
The political benefits which this victory gained Elizabeth s government were major,

Physics of Skydiving Essay
The Physics of Skydiving
What Is Skydiving?
Skydiving is an adrenaline based sport with a fairly simple concept jump from a
high place (usually out of a plane) from several thousand feet above sea level and
hope and pray for a safe landing. This safe landing is often times achieved through
the use of a device called a parachute, which enables the skydiver to reduce his speed
to such a point that colliding with the earth will not be fatal.
This paper will explain a few of the key concepts behind the physics of skydiving.
First we will explore why a skydiver accelerates after he leaps out of the plane before
his jump, second we will try and explain the drag forces effecting the skydiver, and
lastly we will attempt to explain how ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Lets examine a free body diagram of this situation.
One may now clearly see why Joe does not accelerate downward while he remains is
in the plane. The normal force of the plane is acting against the normal force of the
gravity acting on Joe s 100 kilogram mass (this is getting close to the maximum
weight allowed for skydiving). Since the sum of the forces in the y, or upward
direction, is equal to zero, there is effectively no force acting on Joe. Thus, the
acceleration of Joe must be zero.
Now that Joe understands why he is remaining at a constant altitude, he s ready to
take his first jump. Joe is given the signal to jump from the jump master, and he
steps right off the edge of the plane. Joe is now instantly accelerating in the
downward direction. Joe s acceleration will soon cause him to travel at a rapid rate.
But exactly how fast will he be traveling at a certain time? Without this knowledge,
Joe could easily splatter against the surface of the earth. In order to calculate Joe s
velocity at any time, T, we use the following equation:
X = Vi * T + .5 * g * t^2
Where X is the change in distance, Vi is the initial velocity, t is time, and g is the
acceleration due to gravity. Since we know Joe s initial velocity was 0, and the
acceleration of gravity is always 9.8 m/s^2, we can calculate how far Joe has
traveled at any point in time. Lets examine the new free body diagram for this
situation.
As you can see, the normal force is now

Diabetes Mellitus Essay examples
Diabetes mellitus (DM) or simply diabetes, is a chronic health condition in which
the body either fails to produce the amount of insulin needed or it responds
inadequately to the insulin secreted by the pancreas. The three primary types of
diabetes are: Diabetes Type 1 and 2, and during some pregnancies, Gestational
diabetes. The clichГ© for all three types of diabetes is high glucose blood levels or
hyperglycemia. The pathophysiology of all types of diabetes mellitusis related to the
hormone insulin, which is secreted by the beta cells of the pancreas. This hormone is
responsible for maintaining an optimal glucose level in the blood. It allows the body
cells to use glucose as a main energy source. Due to abnormal insulin metabolism, in

With gestational diabetes it is glucose intolerance during pregnancy in a woman not
previously diagnosed with diabetes. It may occur if placental hormones counteract
insulin, causing insulin resistance.
The exact cause of type 1 diabetes mellitus, previously known as insulin dependent
diabetes mellitus, is unknown. What we know today is that in most people with
type 1, their body s own immune system which normally fights against infections
mistakenly destroys the beta cells of the pancreas making insulin secretion
impossible. Genetics also plays a role in this process, and exposure to certain
viruses could trigger the disease. Whatever the cause, once 90% or more of the beta
cells are destroyed, the pancreas will produce little or no insulin. In type 1 diabetes
due to the lack of insulin, the glucose is not able to enter the cells to be used for
energy and instead it builds up into the bloodstream, where it can cause life
threatening complications.
The cause of type 1 diabetes is different from the cause of the more common type 2
diabetes in which the beta cells of the pancreas are still functioning, but the body
becomes resistant to insulin or the pancreas is not able to produce enough insulin or
both.
The early symptoms of untreated diabetes are related to elevated blood sugar levels
and loss of glucose in urine. High amount of glucose in urine can lead to increased
urine output and dehydration. Insulin deficiency can lead to weight loss despite the
polyphagia.

Sheree Whitfield and her ex husband Bob Whitfield may be getting back together,
according to an exclusive interview with Radar Online. When Sheree and Bob from
Real Housewives of Atlanta went on a trip to Jamaica together, they appeared to
spend quite a bit of time together and they flirted a lot. The rumors that their
relationship is on agian may be true as the couple didshow promise in that area in

This time, Sheree Whitfield and Bob Whitfield are not in a hurry. They are taking

The Singularity, The Event Horizon, And The Ergosphere
When a star with a mass about 20 times that of our Sun comes to the end of its life,
it will run out of nuclear fuel, therefore collapsing in on itself. This collapse results
in a chasm in space time with such a high density that not even light can escape its
gravitational pull; this is what we call a black hole.
There are three main parts of a black hole, the singularity, the event horizon, and the
ergosphere. The singularity of a black hole is a place of infinite density and gravity,
space time curves boundlessly around this point and the laws of physics come to a
halt.
The event horizon is often called the point of no return. Once past this boundary of
space time, nothing can escape the gravity of the black hole.
When a black hole spins,
Biography Of Ernest Everett, The Son Of Charles And Mary
Ernest Everett Just, the son of Charles and Mary, was born in Charleston, SC
August 14, 1883. During this time Cholera and diphtheria epidemics broke out,
and black children were the main ones being affected by it. Soon after the birth of
Ernest, his two year old brother and four year old sister passed away as a result of
these diseases leaving him as the only child in the family for a short time. During
his earlier years, the Just household was a very hectic and tense one. Many deaths
were occurring in the family, Charles Just problems with multiple women and
alcohol increased, and bills began to stack up. Barely four years old, Ernest father
Charles Just died of alcoholism. Now with no income for the family, debts from
housing and funeral expenses began to pile up on Ernest mother, Mary. In need of
a way to support her family, she sold their house in Charleston and invested the
money in real estate. Through fierce negotiations and pure determination, she
created an island of her own and called it Maryville. Shortly after picking up and
moving her family to Maryville, Ernest became ill with typhoid fever. After the fever
passed, his memory had been affected so badly, he no longer had his reading and
writing skills previously learned. Without sympathy, Ernest mother was very hard on
him teaching him to gain his skills back. In the end Ernest taught himself while the
other kids played by secluding himself and reading the bible. Ernest attended Fredrick

Eric Schmidt s Personal Life And Professional Career
Google s Former CEO, Eric Schmidt
Jessica R. Kircher
Keiser University
Eric Schmidt, the former Google CEO, served in that position from 2001 to 2011.
In 2011, Eric decided to step down from chief executive officer and fill the executive
chairman seat. I chose to write my research paper on Eric Schmidt because Google is
an inspiring company that I look up to as a graphic designer. One of my everyday
tasks consists of designing websites for clients and Google plays a huge part in
developing my client s search engine optimization. In this paper, I am going to
discuss Eric Schmidt s personal life and professional career as well as going in depth
in regards to his management style and what makes him a successful CEO. Eric
Schmidt was recognized for his aspiring management practices. He helped the
company grow into the technology leader that it is today.
On the 27th of April, 1955, Schmidt was born. Schmidt had two highly educated
parents. His mother had a master s degree in psychology and he father was a
professor of international economics ( Eric Schmidt: Is the Executive, 2012). Schmidt
s father also worked at the U.S. Treasury Department during the Nixon presidency (

Pacific Northwest Historical Event
A historical event that occurred in the Pacific Northwest region was the start of
trading between Native Americans from the Pacific Northwest and Europeans. This
was an important event because Non Native Americans were driven to the region
because of the idea of making money. This lead to settlements and trading posts
throughout the region. The social structure of tribes in this region was also affected
by trade. The website http://www.washington.edu/uwired/outreach/cspn/Website

powerful Native leaders to take control of the acquisition, preperation, and trade of
furs within a given area.

May of 2010, we did not have a honeymoon or a vacation. So my husband Ryan and
I came to a decision that we are going to take this opportunity and spend lavishes on

were very excited, I felt like a little kid waiting for my very first candy. Ryan and I
went ahead and book our vacation at Sandals, in Montego Bay, Jamaica. There was
so much to do in just 14 days, I taught we would have lots of time for sight seeing
and enjoyed the package we choose, but in real time that was not the case. Once we

mountain overseeing the river with the blues sky and the water color was a bluish

as it calms me while watching the wave dancing and the sound is soothing to my

on the beach was invigorating. Every evening there is a party, these parties
normally last anywhere between 12 to 24 hours and you have a choice of at least 3

party was the one right on the beach. There were different shows throughout the
night, there were live music played by a band and everyone dance and had a good

Reflection On A Live Interpreting Assignment
The purpose of this assignment was to analyze and reflect on a live interpreting
assignment. My group members and I decided to attend an Easter choir presentation
at Southside Church, and the interpreter s job was to sign simultaneously.
Prior to this assignment, it would be important for the interpreter to know where she
is to stand so that the Deaf audience can see her and the performance on stage at the
same time. The interpreter should ask about lighting because this may affect how
well the Deaf audience can see her sign. The interpreter may also want to have a seat
available since she is expected to interpret throughout the ninety minute musical. In
addition to knowing about the physical environment, it would be important for the
interpreter ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Post assignment controls were conversing with the Deaf consumers following the
performance to get feedback. These assignment controls were more liberal. In order
to handle the demands of this assignment, the interpreter could have asked for a team
of interpreters to keep from getting tired during the lengthy presentation and to have
a spotlight placed on the interpreter(s) in order for the Deaf attendees to be able to
see the signer at all times during the performance.
It is difficult to apply the Gish model to this interpreting assignment. To complete this
model based on the interpreting assignment, I took the event program and categorized
the songs into the different chronological time periods of the story, including the
scenes that were portrayed by actors. The main categories were the beginning of the
life of Christ, the ministries of Christ, and the death of
Republican Party Dbq Essay
In the past, the Democratic party was known as the conservative, traditional party that
fully supported state government while the Republican party was a supporter of the
federal government control. The Republican party began as Lincoln s party which
caught the attention and support of the colored voters. In contrast, the Democratic
partywas predominantly white during this time with ideas to keep the rights of the
state and the traditions of the South. Though these two parties have opposing views,
they began to clash and redirect their beliefs. Over time the two main political parties
have changed their platforms based on the issues of desegregation, racism in the
South and placement of federal government.

As the Democratic platform changed, the Republican party became very conservative
and defended state s rights due to its opposition to what was called big government
(Rise of Rep. Party, p. 567). On the issue of race, the Republican party fully
supported that the white race was superior and the state had its own right to remain
segregated. A key politician that represents this change was the former Senator
Jesse Helms. Religion was the driving force of his political views and he was very
vocal about his opinions. His campaign developed the concept of the New Right
which refers to the Christian church stepping into the realm of politics (Jesse Helms
Doc). In the 1970s and the 1980s, many organizations became available, such as the
Christian Coalition and Moral Majority, to support the church having political
influence. Since the church became a part of political campaigns, politicians became
more reserved in their discrimination in a perception known as Southern Strategy.
This popular technique was used mainly by the Republican party that was extremely
traditional known as the Tea Party or far right . The first politician to introduce the
idea was President Nixon in 1960, through his speeches to the people. The Southern
Strategy technique is used when the speaker uses choices of words to convey a
negative, underlying meaning without blatantly stating their opinion (class
discussion). As an example, Nixon expressed his support of state s rights as a way of
admitting that he supported the continuation of segregation in the

Evidence-Based Treatment of Hot Flashes Related to
Cancer...
Hot flashes are one of the many side effects of cancer treatment. A hot flash is
defined as a subjective sensation of heat that is associated with objective signs of
cutaneous vasodilation and a subsequent drop in core temperature (Kaplan, Mahon,
Cope, Keating, Hill Jacobson, 2011). Another description of a hot flash is a sudden
sensation of intense warmth that begins in the chest region and rises to the neck
and face (Loprinzi, Barton Rhodes, 2001). Hot flashes are difficult to measure
because they are a subjective experience. Electronic monitoring devices have been
used to assess skin temperature and objectively measure hot flashes (Carpenter,
2005). Hot flashes cause discomfort and can affect a patient s quality of life,
especially when associated with night sweats, sleep disruption, and mood swings
(Loprinzi, Barton Rhodes, 2001). There are certain types of cancertreatments that
cause hot flashes in patients. Cancer treatments that target estrogenand testosterone
production cause more incidences of hot flashes than other cancer treatments
(Kaplan et al., 2011). The side effects of these types of cancer therapies include
hormone deprivation symptoms, one of which can be hot flashes (Kaplan et al.,
2011). These treatments are used for breast cancerin women and prostate cancer in
men (Kaplan et al., 2011). Premenopausal women who undergo treatment for cancer
may also experience hot flashes. This is because about 80% of premenopausal

Dorothea Dix Essay
Dorothea Dix
Born in 1802, Dorothea Dix played an important role in changing the ways people
thought about patients who were mentally ill and handicapped. These patients had
always been cast off as being punished by God . She believed that that people of
such standing would do better by being treated with love and caring rather than being
put aside. As a social reformer, philanthropist, teacher, writer, writer, nurse, and

She then traveled to Europe to recuperate, under the advice of friends and family
(Thinkquest, 7). After returning to Boston, months later, she found herself with a
very large inheritance that would allow her to love comfortably for the rest of her
life (Reader s Companion to American History, 1).
After realizing that she was not the type to sit back and do nothing, she accepted an
invitation to teach at a Sunday school at the East Cambridge Jail in East Cambridge,
Massachusetts in 1941 (www.mfh.org,1). That s when her quest began. She was
shocked when she saw that mentally ill patients were being put into the jails, and
even more appalled at the conditions they were put in.
She first appealed to the local courts. Although the charges were denied, the
conditions were mildly improved (www.mfh.org, 2). Not satisfied with the outcome
of the local courts, she traveled the state of Massachusetts for two years,
documenting the conditions she found (McHenry, 1). She, with the help of a
member of the Massachusetts State Legislature, Samual Gridley Howe, presented
her reports from her visits to the jails, work houses, and hospitals in January of
1843 (Thinkquest, 10). Her reports consisted of stories such as this, the telling of a
Salem County s poor house keeper of his encounter with a patient on day: I knew I
must master him now or never: I caught a stick of wood... and laid upon him until he

How Did The Atlantic Slave Trade Affect Society
Over a period of time, thousands of men, woman and children went through a
devastating time due to the fact that they were forced to move from their
homeland to be held captive as slaves. The whole process of the slave trade had
massive effects on the people themselves and for Africa as well. The slave trade
was fierce and terrible, and the subjugation of Africans was merciless and
dehumanizing. This period in history was seen as one of the longest and supported
strikes on the lives of individuals. The staggering effect on Africaof its contribution in
the formation of the slave trade was negative. There was an extreme decrease in
population and their involvement in this period had an effect on their social and
political standing which could eventually result in colonial domination. In this essay,

Atlantic Slave Trade occurred. Not only did it affect the economic state on some of
the states, but politically it was tampered on as well. Due to the fact that African
Kings become so invested into the slave business, civil wars continue to happen
within their societies and this had eventually made them weak enough. Focusing on
the fact that the Atlantic Slave Trade resulted in colonization, the African states were
being used by the Europeans and in return the Europeans continued to exploit African

Bill Sikes Personality Traits
Bill Sikes is a barbarous burglar and Fagin s partner in crime. He is portrayed as a
rough brutal man who enjoys having control over others. Bill Sikes is abusive,
aggressive and is likely to have sudden heated episodes. He owns a dog named Bull s
eye which he treats poorly, and at some point, tries to drown. He is ferocious and
seems to be very impassive, as he doesn t care whether he hurts someone. His
girlfriend Nancytolerates his abusive and violent behaviour towards her.
I definitely dislike Bill Sikes, mainly due to his malicious behaviour and abusive
ways. The way he acts makes me think of a sociopath; he manipulates, controls and
hurts people for his own benefit. He is fully conscious about this, yet doesn t seem to
care. The way
Violent Video Games Cause Violent Behavior
It widely argued against whether violent video games can trigger violent behavior
among those who play them. There s many cases of the violent video games being
the main factor of the person being violent, however their is plenty of factors that
play a role in the case from parental neglect to drug abuse. In 1983 C. Everett Koop,
the U.S. Surgeon General, claimed that video games were a leading cause of family
violence. Although video gameadvocates argue that majority of the research on the
topic is flawed and found no causal relationship with video games and social
violence. Violent video games should be allowed because violent video games allow
players to release stress and anger in the game and sales of violent games increase
while juvenile crimes have decreased ; however, opponents feel it is that violent
video games causes more aggression, bullying, and fighting; solution to this issue is
the parents need to monitor their children, teach them manners and have them
educated in how to treat others.
Violent video games do not contribute to youth violence because it releases stress
and anger.Violent video games aid people to lessen stress with the people having
fun playing these video games and helping people not to worry about the daily
problems of their life and just enjoy living it. In the Journal of Adolescent Health did
a study on the factors of violent video game use on children and surveyed the kids. In
the journal, they asked the children what are the reasons
Lifestyle In Residential Areas
My mobility research project focused on the community near my residential area.
My goal is to learn about the lifestyle on Bay, California, and Laurel Street in Santa
Cruz, California. These three streets intersect into one another at a time, starting
with Bay and California, then California and Laurel. This area is my focused since
I constantly jog and run around the location. But, I never really observed or allowed
myself to soak in what the community offers to me as a resident. Therefore, I use
this ethnography task as my reason to learn about the streets I exercise on. Before I
discuss about my research, I need to define lifestyle. When I was drafting the
blueprint on how to start this assignment, I realized I am very ignorant to the
tradition, type of residents, and common activities that occur around the area. I
decided to breakdown lifestyle into three definitions: common activities, the residents,
and tradition. As a result, my research focused on... Show more content on

nurtured Santa Cruz s agriculture. There are facts about Italian families that
worked in hard labor jobs, a brief history, and images of proud farm workers. After
reading the sign, I noticed that there is a three way stop intersection. It was very
interesting since there were many cars, but no slow or jam of traffic despite the
three way stop. I turned around and saw that there was a small creek. However,
there were two layers of barricade to prevent people from crossing or touching the
creek: trees and chain linked

Midwifery Essay. Introduction to midwifery PDF

  • 1. Midwifery Essay Writing an essay on the subject of midwifery can be quite challenging, requiring a delicate balance between the technical aspects of the profession and the compassionate, human side of the practice. The complexity arises from the need to delve into medical knowledge, childbirth procedures, and the responsibilities of a midwife, while also emphasizing the emotional and personal connections that midwives forge with expectant mothers. Researching and gathering relevant information is a crucial step, as midwifery is a dynamic field with evolving practices and guidelines. Staying updated on the latest advancements, protocols, and ethical considerations adds an additional layer of difficulty. Additionally, crafting a compelling narrative that seamlessly weaves together the clinical aspects of midwifery with the holistic approach to patient care demands a thoughtful and organized approach. Addressing the historical context and societal perceptions of midwifery further complicates the writing process. Discussing the challenges faced by midwives, advocating for their role in the healthcare system, and exploring the impact of cultural beliefs on childbirth practices requires a nuanced and comprehensive understanding. Moreover, the essay should not only inform but also engage the reader emotionally. Balancing the technicalities of midwifery with the human touch involves careful language choice and storytelling. Conveying the significance of midwifery in supporting women during one of the most transformative moments of their lives adds an extra layer of sensitivity that demands a skilled and empathetic approach. In conclusion, tackling a midwifery essay involves navigating through a multidimensional landscape of medical knowledge, ethical considerations, historical context, and human connections. It requires a writer to skillfully blend these elements, creating a harmonious composition that educates, advocates, and resonates with the reader. For those seeking assistance with similar essays or any other writing needs, various online platforms, such as HelpWriting.net, offer professional services to simplify the writing process and ensure a polished and well-crafted final product. • 3. Short Story Of Greenvale Girls Boarding School Come on Ava! yelled an excited Sophia from downstairs. I dragged my suitcase out of my room. It was half way through the year and our mother had decided to ship us off to a boarding school for girls. Ava!!!! Sophia was an incredibly adventurous person. I on the other hand would like a nice relaxing day reading a book and leaving the adventures to the characters in my stories. As I reached the bottom of the staircase the doorbell rangand broke my train of thought. I ve got it!! Sophia said as she raced to the door. I followed after her. She opened the door and stood staring. Looking down at us was a tall slim figure of a woman. She had such a pinched up face and I wondered how uncomfortable it must be. Sophia, Ava? She said sharply. We both nodded our heads in unison. I m Mrs Cox the Principal of Greenvale Girls Boarding school. I ve come to pick you up I looked at Sophia. She shrugged and went to tell mother who was probably in the kitchen. I was left with this woman staring at me. We stood awkwardly in silence, well she didn t seem to find it awkward. Finally Sophia and mother came around the corner and rescued me from Mrs Cox poison glare. As I hopped into Mrs Cox car I waved bye to mother and turned to Sophia. Sophia I said. She turned to look at me. What do you think it will be like? I said. Be quiet! Mrs Cox yelled from the front passenger s seat. Sophia shrugged and put her feet up of the seat in front. Typical of Sophia I thought. Mrs Cox turned

There s no pity, or a simple discarding of their issues. Jamal, Latika, and Salim all have to fight for their lives, for their freedom, and more importantly to achieve their one true destiny, which in the end, varies vastly in the final act of the film. Medical Advice And Treatment Of Family Medicine Family Medicine is rooted in the notion that getting to know patients through continuity of care will allow physicians to not only integrate care and prevent disease, but also to improve patients quality of life. I am interested in the patient centered setting in family medicine to take care of the whole person body, mind and spirit. To me, family medicineis inspiring, challenging, and rewarding. Prior to starting medical school, I volunteered at a free clinic in Durham, NC. Although I did not have the skills at the time to provide medical advice and treatment, I shadowed a group of Family Medicine physicians after completing my duties at NIH triage. There all the patients were assigned to the primary care provider, and their doctor had the chance to get to know them personally. By offering continuity of care, the physicians were able to adequately and comprehensively manage chronic disease, focus on prevention, and coordinate care in partnership with other medical professionals. I was inspired by the selflessness and compassion of physicians who commit to caring for the underserved and uninsured populations. Excerpts From Being And Time By Martin Dasein Analysis An Outline Summary: Excerpts from Being and Time (1927) (Dasein s Possibility of Being a Whole, and Being towards Death) Martin Heidegger Martin Heidegger started his argument by saying that once the Dasein reaches its death, it then loses its state of being there and is now transitioning to a no longer dasein state and will take it as an experience. However, death of the Other, as he said, is rather impressive and the termination of Dasein, in turn, will be Objectively accessible therefore making bounds of the Dasein s totality. Even with the Other s death, in its no longer Dasein state and Being no longer in the world, it is still considered as a Being just in the Being just present at hand and no more of a bodily thing that we will encounter. The coming of an end of an entity qua Dasein is the coming forth of beginning of the same entity qua something present at hand. The changing over of Dasein to that of the Being just present at hand and no more doesn t necessarily imply that we are not presented with such mere corporeal Thing. The author scaled the pain in a numeric values represented by a scale from zero to ten. First, is the zero scale. As Biss described herself as some one who generate question instead of answering them, she thinks that paincannot be eliminated. Meaning, zero cannot explain a situation, just like its numerical value, we cannot apply some computational operations to it. Then, the author goes to explain how zero is interpreted in Celsius and Kelvin. To illustrate her point, she used the chicken as an example. The concept of the chicken example is that when we grab the chicken by its feet and the chicken is not complaining, that does not mean that the chicken is in no pain. The moral of zero pain is that either the pain cannot be expressed or it can not be felt. Second, the author started with the stories of how she was taught what is pain and who invented the scale of zero to ten pain scale. For example, Biss s father told her that an itch is just a damaged tissue. Biss then asks a very complex question, she said When does pain worth measuring? With poison ivy? With a hang nail?... A razor cut? This shows how complex it is to judge where the pain begins. Even with a trained hospice nurses, not every pain can be identified. Biss conclude the scale one by assuming that zero and one are close to each other to the point where they might equal each other. Third, the scale numbertwo starts

This pilgrimage is a training bringing both physical and spiritual benefits to pilgrims through its intensive process. Nevertheless, due to the consequences of rapid modernization in Japan, cultural practices like Shikoku Henro are at threats of erosion because of the increasing concentration of Japanese people on fulfilling material life rather than enriching spiritual experience. Facing challenges of being eternally forgotten, Shikoku Pilgrimage needs a greater dynamic to continue preserving its quintessence. One of the possible solutions that were already implemented is giving birth to the Omairingu manga, anime and cosplay pilgrimage in attempts to reintroduce this holy practice in a more pop cultural approach. However, the Omairingu concept is quite controversial among traditional pilgrims and pop culture fans on how much is too much to deliver sacred images. The Hebron Middle School Handbook says, Four categories of 9 12 students will be the focus of a testing program where they will be pulled away to have to take a random drug test that will be sent to the parents with the result and procedure included. The fourth amendment of the Constitution says that there should be no unreasonable searches. Unless the school has reasonable evidence that a student is using an illegal drug, random drug testing could fall under this amendment. Is it necessary? Is everyone capable of it? Is it going to be hard and will it be worth the effort? All of these questions are probably what made Peter Pan decide to never leave Neverland. Growing up means a lot of different things to many different people. If we look at the words growing up , we simply think of the physical aspect of ageing, growing tall and wide. Such mistakes could include simple things when we are young like hitting your younger sibling, or they could be as adults like not paying your bills. Sometimes, we have to make the mistake in order to be able to correct it. We look at the mistake we made, for example, cheating on a test. We are pleased with the score. However, we see that we did not receive the grade that was deserved. The other students all put in long hours of studying and in turn earned their good grades. When something like this happens an immature person would not think much of it and move on, but a person who has grown spiritually into a person with morals will not feel comfortable with this result, and probably not do it again. That is one form of growing up. It is important to feel responsibility for the actions that have been taken. The next step is reacting in a productive way to that responsibility. In order to assume responsibility, we have to have a sense of right and wrong which is only naturally learned by living life. When responsibility is accepted, we have begun to see the truth and reality of our situation, as Peck describes. Dedication to truth is heavily involved with the concept of accepting responsibility because for people to see blame in themselves, they have to have a clear plane of reality that shows the necessity of a solution from them. Once inside, they tie a ball over mouths to prevent screaming. Right after, Alex and his gang rip her clothes off, in which her husband naturally reacts to try and prevent it. Alex acknowledges him and essentially humiliates the man and the gang proceeds to rape her to death. This scene is graphically depicted to the core. Another cause of the revolution the Tax Act of 1773, and the Stamp Act. This caused the frustration of the 13 colony states as they were constantly being taxed. The people in the colonies revolted by not using British goods. Many colonists in order to demonstrate their frustration by drinking coffee and not the beloved tea. This became so large that violence soon plagued, and a more organized demonstration of frustration became known as the Boston Tea Party. The American patriots began to fight against the British Empire. The British began to send their army to try to resolve the riots and have the colonists pay their taxes. The preceding year the American patriots wanted to be dissolved from the British Empire. The colonists wrote their perspectives down for their Declaration of Independence , which sought after their freedom, to have their own rules and regulations and tax policies. I ve been able to see this throughout my own life as increased knowledge and experience has led to the evolution of my approach to literature. As of late, I tend to apply the following personal literary theorywhen presented with a literary work. First, I try to search for morals and lessons that I can draw from the text. I enjoy doing this because I can learn new things and gain new insights. Second, I try to make connections to the text by comparing characters, descriptions, or situations to either myself, the world around me, or other works of literature that I have encountered. Third, I pay attention to the literary devices employed by the author, such as similes, metaphors, repetition, and personification. Lastly, I look for symbols. I will now proceed to introduce the novelthat I have chosen and use it to demonstrate my personal literary theory. The literary work I have decided to analyze throughout the semester is Stargirl, by Jerry Spinelli. It is a teen fiction novel set at Mica Area High School in Arizona. Skydiving is an adrenaline based sport with a fairly simple concept jump from a high place (usually out of a plane) from several thousand feet above sea level and hope and pray for a safe landing. This safe landing is often times achieved through the use of a device called a parachute, which enables the skydiver to reduce his speed to such a point that colliding with the earth will not be fatal. This paper will explain a few of the key concepts behind the physics of skydiving. First we will explore why a skydiver accelerates after he leaps out of the plane before his jump, second we will try and explain the drag forces effecting the skydiver, and lastly we will attempt to explain how ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Lets examine a free body diagram of this situation. One may now clearly see why Joe does not accelerate downward while he remains is in the plane. The normal force of the plane is acting against the normal force of the gravity acting on Joe s 100 kilogram mass (this is getting close to the maximum weight allowed for skydiving). Since the sum of the forces in the y, or upward direction, is equal to zero, there is effectively no force acting on Joe. Thus, the acceleration of Joe must be zero. Now that Joe understands why he is remaining at a constant altitude, he s ready to take his first jump. Joe is given the signal to jump from the jump master, and he steps right off the edge of the plane. Joe is now instantly accelerating in the downward direction. Joe s acceleration will soon cause him to travel at a rapid rate. But exactly how fast will he be traveling at a certain time? Without this knowledge, Joe could easily splatter against the surface of the earth. In order to calculate Joe s velocity at any time, T, we use the following equation: X = Vi * T + .5 * g * t^2 Where X is the change in distance, Vi is the initial velocity, t is time, and g is the acceleration due to gravity. Since we know Joe s initial velocity was 0, and the acceleration of gravity is always 9.8 m/s^2, we can calculate how far Joe has traveled at any point in time. Lets examine the new free body diagram for this situation. As you can see, the normal force is now

Diabetes Mellitus Essay examples Diabetes mellitus (DM) or simply diabetes, is a chronic health condition in which the body either fails to produce the amount of insulin needed or it responds inadequately to the insulin secreted by the pancreas. The three primary types of diabetes are: Diabetes Type 1 and 2, and during some pregnancies, Gestational diabetes. The clichГ© for all three types of diabetes is high glucose blood levels or hyperglycemia. The pathophysiology of all types of diabetes mellitusis related to the hormone insulin, which is secreted by the beta cells of the pancreas. This hormone is responsible for maintaining an optimal glucose level in the blood. It allows the body cells to use glucose as a main energy source. Due to abnormal insulin metabolism, in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With gestational diabetes it is glucose intolerance during pregnancy in a woman not previously diagnosed with diabetes. It may occur if placental hormones counteract insulin, causing insulin resistance. The exact cause of type 1 diabetes mellitus, previously known as insulin dependent diabetes mellitus, is unknown. What we know today is that in most people with type 1, their body s own immune system which normally fights against infections mistakenly destroys the beta cells of the pancreas making insulin secretion impossible. Genetics also plays a role in this process, and exposure to certain viruses could trigger the disease. Whatever the cause, once 90% or more of the beta cells are destroyed, the pancreas will produce little or no insulin. In type 1 diabetes due to the lack of insulin, the glucose is not able to enter the cells to be used for energy and instead it builds up into the bloodstream, where it can cause life threatening complications. The cause of type 1 diabetes is different from the cause of the more common type 2 diabetes in which the beta cells of the pancreas are still functioning, but the body becomes resistant to insulin or the pancreas is not able to produce enough insulin or both. The early symptoms of untreated diabetes are related to elevated blood sugar levels and loss of glucose in urine. High amount of glucose in urine can lead to increased urine output and dehydration. Insulin deficiency can lead to weight loss despite the polyphagia.

Finally, a few days of calm and relaxing, a nice day at the beach just enjoying the sea breeze as it calms me while watching the wave dancing and the sound is soothing to my ears. As I was surrounded by this delightful evening as the night sets in. The scene on the beach was invigorating. Every evening there is a party, these parties normally last anywhere between 12 to 24 hours and you have a choice of at least 3 5 different place to party all within the same facility. The most memorably evening party was the one right on the beach. There were different shows throughout the night, there were live music played by a band and everyone dance and had a good time. Then the second part of the show involved with a man doing stunts, this man weighs about 230 pounds standing on a board with nails pointed up, that s got to hurt, but he was not hurt, he said it was a specially technique he used. As the evening continued with the moon light shining upon
  • 48. Reflection On A Live Interpreting Assignment The purpose of this assignment was to analyze and reflect on a live interpreting assignment. My group members and I decided to attend an Easter choir presentation at Southside Church, and the interpreter s job was to sign simultaneously. Prior to this assignment, it would be important for the interpreter to know where she is to stand so that the Deaf audience can see her and the performance on stage at the same time. The interpreter should ask about lighting because this may affect how well the Deaf audience can see her sign. The interpreter may also want to have a seat available since she is expected to interpret throughout the ninety minute musical. In addition to knowing about the physical environment, it would be important for the interpreter ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Post assignment controls were conversing with the Deaf consumers following the performance to get feedback. These assignment controls were more liberal. In order to handle the demands of this assignment, the interpreter could have asked for a team of interpreters to keep from getting tired during the lengthy presentation and to have a spotlight placed on the interpreter(s) in order for the Deaf attendees to be able to see the signer at all times during the performance. It is difficult to apply the Gish model to this interpreting assignment. To complete this model based on the interpreting assignment, I took the event program and categorized the songs into the different chronological time periods of the story, including the scenes that were portrayed by actors. The main categories were the beginning of the life of Christ, the ministries of Christ, and the death of

The Republican party began as Lincoln s party which caught the attention and support of the colored voters. As the Democratic platform changed, the Republican party became very conservative and defended state s rights due to its opposition to what was called big government (Rise of Rep. Party, p. 567). On the issue of race, the Republican party fully supported that the white race was superior and the state had its own right to remain segregated. A key politician that represents this change was the former Senator Jesse Helms. Religion was the driving force of his political views and he was very vocal about his opinions. His campaign developed the concept of the New Right which refers to the Christian church stepping into the realm of politics (Jesse Helms Doc). In the 1970s and the 1980s, many organizations became available, such as the Christian Coalition and Moral Majority, to support the church having political influence. Since the church became a part of political campaigns, politicians became more reserved in their discrimination in a perception known as Southern Strategy. This popular technique was used mainly by the Republican party that was extremely traditional known as the Tea Party or far right . The first politician to introduce the idea was President Nixon in 1960, through his speeches to the people. The Southern Strategy technique is used when the speaker uses choices of words to convey a negative, underlying meaning without blatantly stating their opinion (class discussion). As an example, Nixon expressed his support of state s rights as a way of admitting that he supported the continuation of segregation in the

  • 51. Evidence-Based Treatment of Hot Flashes Related to Cancer... Hot flashes are one of the many side effects of cancer treatment. A hot flash is defined as a subjective sensation of heat that is associated with objective signs of cutaneous vasodilation and a subsequent drop in core temperature (Kaplan, Mahon, Cope, Keating, Hill Jacobson, 2011). Another description of a hot flash is a sudden sensation of intense warmth that begins in the chest region and rises to the neck and face (Loprinzi, Barton Rhodes, 2001). Hot flashes are difficult to measure because they are a subjective experience. Electronic monitoring devices have been used to assess skin temperature and objectively measure hot flashes (Carpenter, 2005). Hot flashes cause discomfort and can affect a patient s quality of life, especially when associated with night sweats, sleep disruption, and mood swings (Loprinzi, Barton Rhodes, 2001). There are certain types of cancertreatments that cause hot flashes in patients. Cancer treatments that target estrogenand testosterone production cause more incidences of hot flashes than other cancer treatments (Kaplan et al., 2011). The side effects of these types of cancer therapies include hormone deprivation symptoms, one of which can be hot flashes (Kaplan et al., 2011). These treatments are used for breast cancerin women and prostate cancer in men (Kaplan et al., 2011). Premenopausal women who undergo treatment for cancer may also experience hot flashes. After realizing that she was not the type to sit back and do nothing, she accepted an invitation to teach at a Sunday school at the East Cambridge Jail in East Cambridge, Massachusetts in 1941 (www.mfh.org,1). That s when her quest began. She was shocked when she saw that mentally ill patients were being put into the jails, and even more appalled at the conditions they were put in. She first appealed to the local courts. Although the charges were denied, the conditions were mildly improved (www.mfh.org, 2). Not satisfied with the outcome of the local courts, she traveled the state of Massachusetts for two years, documenting the conditions she found (McHenry, 1). She, with the help of a member of the Massachusetts State Legislature, Samual Gridley Howe, presented her reports from her visits to the jails, work houses, and hospitals in January of 1843 (Thinkquest, 10). Her reports consisted of stories such as this, the telling of a Salem County s poor house keeper of his encounter with a patient on day: I knew I must master him now or never: I caught a stick of wood... and laid upon him until he cried for

How Did The Atlantic Slave Trade Affect Society Over a period of time, thousands of men, woman and children went through a devastating time due to the fact that they were forced to move from their homeland to be held captive as slaves. The whole process of the slave trade had massive effects on the people themselves and for Africa as well. There s many cases of the violent video games being the main factor of the person being violent, however their is plenty of factors that play a role in the case from parental neglect to drug abuse. In 1983 C. Everett Koop, the U.S. Surgeon General, claimed that video games were a leading cause of family violence. Although video gameadvocates argue that majority of the research on the topic is flawed and found no causal relationship with video games and social violence. Violent video games should be allowed because violent video games allow players to release stress and anger in the game and sales of violent games increase while juvenile crimes have decreased ; however, opponents feel it is that violent video games causes more aggression, bullying, and fighting; solution to this issue is the parents need to monitor their children, teach them manners and have them educated in how to treat others. The sign was a gift to honor Italian Americans who participated and nurtured Santa Cruz s agriculture. There are facts about Italian families that worked in hard labor jobs, a brief history, and images of proud farm workers. After reading the sign, I noticed that there is a three way stop intersection. It was very interesting since there were many cars, but no slow or jam of traffic despite the three way stop. I turned around and saw that there was a small creek. However, there were two layers of barricade to prevent people from crossing or touching the creek: trees and chain linked
